My boyfriend and I decided on a last minute trip to Morro Bay for a few days. We were looking for something fun to do, and this came up. This place is a complete rip off. So many other places to get kayaks from than a place that overcharges at $30 an hour plus charges you from start time being when you walk down to get life vest and instructions, which took a solid additional 10 minutes ( not when you're actually on kayak). So since we went over by 15 minutes we were charged a prorated fee but we were actually only 5 mins over because 10 was tutorial and 5 on water. Ridiculous. They shouldn't even charge ticky tak charges like that to rip people off!!!! Be weary and beware of that. My charge was just under $40 for 1 hour and 15 minutes!! Sorry but I wanted this to be a fun day and planned on bringing more friends over the summer since I'm a local but you lost my business with this. Check prices at nearby kayak rentals. We tried to reach them for additional information yesterday but it was after hours. Next thing we knew, Mary returned my call. THAT is service! They did a pretty good job of getting both my niece and her friend readied and off for their adventure. My niece had a total ball kayaking in Morro Bay. My complaint is that I needed to use the restroom. The young lady who was working there sent me in the wrong direction. I'm mobility-challenged; she sent me on a long walk to the park where there is in fact a public restroom. I walked there and back and it wasn't easy, then kept going past Paddlesports only to find many public restrooms that were much closer. They were in the exact opposite direction than she had sent me. My niece is under the impression that today was just her second day on the job. Maybe, but she doesn't know the Embarcadero? Being able to direct customers to a public restroom is important. ONE OF THE BEST AFTERNOONS OF MY LIFE!! Next time you're in Morro Bay, you've gotta pop into this paddlesports shop and plan for some fun!!! (Trust me, you'll thank me for it!!) You can rent Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) or Kayaks (single or double) and they also offer tours. I LOVE so much about this shop ... let me break it down for ya. 1 - Amazing customer service. I didn't know anything about Morro Bay, and was expertly guided to the best way to spend my SUP-dream afternoon with patience, know-how, and lots of excitement. There was a large family checking out just as I arrived, and I could hear from them that they, too, had an incredible time!! I saw others come and go with varying levels of expertise, and they all seemed to have so much fun! 2 - Jaw-dropping beauty and a feast for the senses!!! With Morro Rock so close it seemed I could touch it, seals barking and playing on a dock at the center of the bay (and throughout the bay, as I paddled!), seagulls flying overhead and singing their gull songs, AND the mouth of the bay easy enough to paddle to, through which I could SEE and HEAR the ocean. I was able to paddle to the sand dunes and nestle my board for a short yoga sesh, even! SO FUN! 3 - Daughter-Dad Dynamic Duo! Perhaps it's because I, too, have a daughter - but it was SO COOL to see the way in which this business is family run, owned, and operated. 4 - Location! - The shop is located on the "Embarcadero" (the main bay-side street and within the bay, so you can get there easily and paddle board or kayak, at any level, and have so much fun! read more

If you're even a bit intrigued with the idea of Stand Up Paddleboarding, you have found the right place to try it. I'd been SUPing a couple times and loved it, and my best friend was visiting for a week. She was excited to try it, so we booked a two-hour lesson with Mary, owner of this great shop. (She sells SUPs and everything to need to get started in this sport.) Mary met us at Coleman Park in Morro Bay and brought everything we needed, including wetsuits and personal flotation devices. The reason we signed up for a lesson was to learn some techniques and paddling skills, not just paddle around Morro Bay. Mary is a competitive SUP racer, and she taught us safety tips, how to turn, stop, and what do when things might get dicey on the ocean. We had a pretty good breeze wind that day, which led nicely to our level of difficulty. And that's what we wanted--to start really exploring and learning to SUP. Thanks to Mary, at the end of our two-hour lesson, we were getting more proficient in our turns and navigation, even ending with a more finesse technique of feathering the paddle. We're both excited to go again, and want to become proficient with lots more practice. None of this would have been possible with Mary's teaching and sharing her expertise, and in a fun, supportive way. Can't wait for my next lesson with Mary.
