We had reached out to three other companies, two of which we never even heard back from and one who said they wouldn't come this far out to our house (only a town or two over.) We were in desperate need of a chimney sweep and inspection. The woman who returned my call was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and got us booked with an appointment for the following week on a Monday morning! The two gentlemen who showed up to our home were very nice, professional, and knowledgeable. They went right to work and seemed to have everything taken care of in not talk much time. Although I wish the results of our chimney inspection were better (thanks previous owners of the house), the inspection was thorough and seemed reasonably priced. The young gentleman who gave me the results of our inspection was actually the owner of the company and said they would be emailing over photos of the complete inspection along with an estimate for any repairs we would need to have done before potentially installing a wood stove. I always assumed that because I was getting an annual furnace tuneup and cleaning that that was enough. Turns out I was wrong! Boiler technicians aren't chimney experts and things do build up over time. I contacted Dana at Larabee Chimney Services--he had actually helped install my then-new chimney liner ten years ago along with Pickett's which is how I was referred to Dana. (I was very happy with Pickett's.) He confirmed our appointment the night before and then, per my request, called when he was on his way. He and his helper inspected my chimney and liner. Turns out it didn't need a cleaning. I had my checkbook ready and asked how much? NO CHARGE! As a homeowner I really value contractors who are honest, experienced, professional, personable and charge a fair price, and that defines Dana! We are considering getting a wood stove and will definitely pick Larabee to install the new liner if we end up getting one!

Dave, from Jackson shows up, takes a look, and "Sure, we can fix this, no problem. 2 weeks later, Dave is back with the "unavailable" part, and 2 hours later he's done. Fireplace work great, it was like he was never here, except that the fireplace worked. He also fixed a problem with the external vent being to close to the clapboard siding. "Who Knew?' Dave did.
