If you haven't been to MO's River Road Grill we highly recommend it. Totally new, nice and bright, great staff and owner Terry Roanhorse Moshin is always there. We eat there at least 2-3 times a month. Food selection is great- my fave are fish tacos, hamburgers, steak and pastas. The prime rib dinner is a hit too! Great selection of salads and everything is fresh and produce grown locally. The appetizers are good to especially the Brie and Artichoke. Terry's mixed beans are great and for dessert got to try the Bread Pudding all home made. Good wine selection and full bar coming soon. Terry got to get some Jalapeño Margaritas and we are set!! So happy we have new place as sometimes the drive to Monterey on special event weekends is crazy!! Let alone trying to drive to Santa Cruz or San Juan Bautista. Cheers to Terry and the whole crew!!! I ordered the salmon papillon and it was a little salty but delicious! I paired it with a glass of Bernardus Pinot noir. My date had the French dip sandwich which was made with prime rib and the French bread it was served on was so fresh and toasty. This is a definite MUST VISIT for food! Every single item we ordered was Delicious. From the opening appetizers of the baked Brie wonderfully prepared with honey and candied walnuts dripping over the sides, or the fresh steamed artichoke with pesto sauce that complimented so well. The tri tip on the wedge salad was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The salad had a wonderful homemade balsamic glaze with sprinkles of thick cut bacon and two kinds of house dressings with bleu cheese crumbles. Another dish that was raved over was the picatta chicken, even the side vegetables got five stars that accompanied it. The cherries on top were the desserts... can't decide which was better between the coconut bread pudding, banana pudding with vanilla wafers or housemade mint chip ice cream pie. Went there last night for dinner. Nice decor. Waitress was very good. Artichoke dip was great. Spaghetti and meatballs was good. Nice portion size. Chicken piccata was AWFUL. it was the toughest piece of chicken I have ever seen. Dessert was cheesecake which was very good. We told the waitress about the chicken. Only ate two bites. Ugh. We went here while staying at the Vision Quest Ranch up the road and it was the only place to eat for miles. We ordered a burger medium and it was so well done it was almost burnt. We also ordered a pizza that was so undercooked, it was inedible. We were one of three couples in the restaurant and the only time we saw our server was when our checked was dropped off. The rest of the time our server/waitress was in the back kitchen area. The fact that I paid $35 for this disgusting food was ridiculous. And instead of questioning why we only picked at our food, we were only offered a To Go box. I really question these positive reviews. read more

This restaurant just did not have the "WOW" factor I was so hoping for. My friend, who had dined there a week earlier, had great things to say so I was excited to try Mo's! We arrived at lunch time and there was no host or anyone to greet us. We sat ourselves down. 10 minutes later, a couple got up and left. About 7 min later, the only server/busser/runner acknowledged us and said she'd be with us as soon as she could. Walked by us many more times and another 10 min later, finally came and took our order. Being a server myself, i would've brought at least water or a beverage for customers who I can't get to right away. Why would I do that? So the customer has something to drink while they wait close to half an hour waiting patiently. Ordered an appetizer and although the main course came within a reasonable time, my appetizer came after. Either she forgot to turn it in or the kitchen overlooked the item. Either way, I didn't appreciate it coming out later as now I'd have to eat my two items together...And as a server, when one orders an app that obviously should come with a certain condiment, you should bring it with the app. Instead, my friend had to get up and get the condiment. My fish tacos, I later found out from a friend, could've been grilled, not breaded but was not given the option. My friend recalled that her salad was a more generous portion a week earlier with a better tasting dressing. We still tipped a generous tip of 15% but had it been my table and my service was not up to par, that table surely would've not tipped me at all or not at least, 15%. Management needs to improve customer service and have their servers trained and create a more consistent atmosphere. Is the quality and quantity control only in effect when the owners are actually there? One can only wonder.... read more

Mo's River Road Grill is perfectly located for my family off River Road. Of more import, however, is the consistently excellent food, and the warm family atmosphere. There are some truly outstanding wines ( you can not go wrong with Ray Franscioni's Puma wines), and Terry has trained her servers to be attentive but not pushy or overbearing. The smoked ribs are superb, the fish tacos are excellent and everything is from scratch. You owe it to yourself to make this restaurant a mainstay. read more

Don't even bother, the owner of this place is beyond rude and provides horrible customer service. Her staff is sweet but very untrained or scared of the owner so unable to provide good service. After waiting for over an hour for our to go order, we arrived home to find that the orders were incorrect and incomplete. An owner should be concerned that customers have expressed frustration about waiting for something as simple as a sandwich and fish tacos. When we inquired about the status of our order, she did not come back to us with an answer, we were left there to assume some sort of answer was coming. When my friend re-addressed the situation, she both admonished us and criticized our impatience. Apparently, I was supposed to be grateful for the free glass of root beer she provided. There are much better places to spend your money at in the Salinas area. I will say that the beef in the french dip was high quality and tasty. Artichoke dip is to die for! In love with half rack of ribs and pulled pork sand which! Always such a nice welcoming environment! Tv, music, and friendly staff definitely make it a great spot for the family or a casual night out. Will be eating here for quite some time for sure! This place has come a long way in a short time. The noise problem is completely solved with some unobtrusive panels. They have a real bartender who is cute, hip, and polite. The service is hit and miss, but where is it not? They brought the Elements cook and most of the menu back and it is as good as a neighborhood restaurant could be. My only complaint is that the food tends to be too salty, but that is an issue for me at a lot of places. I had the chicken marsala today and the sauce and chicken and potatoes were awesome. The asparagus (a welcome change from the ubiquitous broccoli side veg) was perfectly cooked but almost too salty to eat. Also if they had a cocktail list it would be my fav place. A full bar without a cocktail list is such a lost opportunity. All in all we love this place and hope they are successful for a long time! read more

Finally! We have a local watering hole!! This is a great spot for people who live close by that want a quick meal without breaking the bank. Food is great and the service is 5-star. I've dined here a dozen times and the service and food has been perfect! All my friends have eaten there and have had a great experience. By the way, they have a great selection of wines and beer. Service is HORRIBLE still. I went when they first opened & I was very disappointed. The service was sooooo slow & it was really noisy. To top it off, the food is just so so. So I waited a couple of months so they could get the service together & tried again since I live off River Rd & it would be so nice to have a bar & restaurant in the neighborhood again! Instead of eating there because I wasn't interested in sitting in their noisy atmosphere, I placed an order for pick up. I was told it would be 20 minutes. I ordered a salad so it shouldn't take much longer than that but I waited 30 minutes before leaving my house just because I didn't trust them. After waiting another 20 mins( 50 mins since I ordered a salad) it finally was ready!!! While waiting, I saw a friend who was sitting at a table so I went to say hi. I asked how the food was since I assumed they were done and she said " I don't know I've been waiting now 45 mins for my burger!" The food is so not worth the wait, service & loud building! Went there today June 16, 2017. The servicer was very good by Sophia but the food arrived very slowly. The odd thing is that there were only 3 other tables seated. My friend ordered a medium rare burger and got a medium . She sent it back and the new burger she said was good! I ordered the fish tacos that were very over done. The corn tortilla was maybe heated about 30 seconds with only the cabbage slaw, there was a green salsa in them.It came with black beans that were ok, but I only took two bites. The rice was good. but not in a Mexican style. The bread pudding was very good a large slice that came with ice cream. I would recommend this dessert. This is the third time I've eaten here.Previously my friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs that came with no meatballs. Anther time I ordered a salad that was very crisp. The salad dressing tasted like store bought it came with a slice of bread but no butter. Once I ordered the cheesy bread and it was just ok.In my opinion there needs to be improvements. read more
