    a flight of beers

One line review: Any port in a storm. We ended up here somewhat randomly. Stuck in terrible traffic trying to get to Pacific Grove, we finally got off the freeway to find some food, hit the restrooms, and rest. 101 Wine Press fit the bill, being just off the freeway and having an outdoor dining option (for COVID safety). We ordered a smoked chicken salad, the brisket plate, and a flight of beers. The salad was the best of the bunch -- generous and fresh. The brisket was fine for what it was but smallish and a bit on the dry side for our taste (some people love it that way); our side (jalapeño mac and cheese) sounded like a good idea, but wasn't spicy or really flavorful in any way. My wife enjoyed the flight of beers, even though she is more of a porter, stout, and ale girl; amazingly, they didn't have any of those, so I think she drank lagers, a cider, and maybe one pilsner. Value was... okay. Frankly, prices were a bit high for what you get, IMO. Service was good, even outdoors, and parking was easy in their shared lot. Bottom line: It did the job. Probably won't go back when we're in the area, though, as I suspect there are better options.

Tri-Tip Sandwich with grilled onions on garlic bread and jalapeño Mac and cheese with bacon.

Every time I hit the Prunedale cutoff off 101 on my way to and from SoCal or Monterey I've been meaning to try this place. I don't know why I waited so long. Might be the best BBQ I've tasted. And I've been all over the states to Kansas City, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Louisiana (where I may have ridden a mechanical bull.) I ordered the tri-tip sandwich ($19). It comes on house made garlic bread. The tri-tip was perfectly smoked and moist and the sweet Kansas City style sauce is perfect. The side of Mac and cheese with bacon and jalapeños was awesome: My wife got the three meat combo ($37) of sausage, tri-tip and chicken. Sausage was perfectly cooked and spicy and the chicken is moist and flavorful. Prices aren't cheap here. Ended up paying $90 with tax and tip and drinks for two but it was worth it. Their co-owner Nick who greeted us like old friends said they've been around for the past six years and here's hoping for another sixty. We'll be sure to be back for more our next trip down 101.

Absolutely love this place. I sampled incredible local wines - which I never would've discovered if it hadnt been on this menu. I sat in peace as I completed some tasks on my laptop. When i got hungry i ordered this tri-tip sandwich - smokey, flavorful, beyond delicious! The bartender was super friendly and I felt quite comfortable and welcome. Highly recommend this spot- cant wait to return.

Perfect stop on the drive to Monterey. Food was FANTASTIC the salad was crunchy, cold and the tri tip was smokey and delectable. The sausage had cheese in it which was a pleasant surprise. The Non Alcoholic options made me feel more included as they were delicious and well priced. Everything here is even healthy. The bartender Nick was super friendly and quick on our orders and great conversationalist. I'd recommend this place to locals and tourists alike. The music selection was relaxing Californian vibes and the right volume for conversations and relaxation. I'd give more stars than 5 on this place, you can believe that.

    Check the small print!!

Customer service is not professional. And if you look at the menu, there is an 18% gratuity if bands are playing. Make sure you view the receipt before paying.

    A copy of my bill

Food and service is good. My issue was with the bill. They include an 18% tip, no problem but they tax the tip. That's an issue. Only the food should be taxed. i probably would not go back because of that.

The vibe is very off from owners. The food is not good. Don't waste your money here. Try some of the food trucks nearby for a better meal.

The restaurant has a great drink selection and a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a Tuesday dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $32! This menu also had a special drink selection. I ordered the house salad, prawn risotto, and chocolate lava cake. The salad was very fresh with spring mix and butter lettuce, which I especially enjoy, and it was topped with a light vinaigrette style house dressing that was light and delicious. The prawn risotto was creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cake was rich and very chocolatey, a bit too rich for my personal taste, but still enjoyable. It also came with vanilla gelato, which was delicious. As a table, we also ordered the tableside tiramisu, which was such a fun and unique experience. I am a tiramisu connoisseur, so anytime I see it on the menu, I ordered it. It is my favorite dessert. Although this was not my favorite one, I very much enjoyed the experience. I will mention the espresso needs a little more time to fully soak into the ladyfingers, but the presentation and experience alone made it worth trying. The ambiance was lovely with nice background music, and the service was attentive and welcoming. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal, especially the birthday girl. Overall, Patria is a fantastic dinner spot in Salinas, and I would absolutely return and highly recommend it.

I'm glad to report that last night had some music in the bar, it was soft and sounded like Italian folk (Frank Sinatra would've been nice too) but it was perfectly fine because it broke up the atmosphere in a positive way. Calamari appetizer was great and my pork chop was too. Service was equally great as it was prompt and accompanied. I'll be back soon, so if you haven't tried Patria yet, you should.

We covered drinks in honor of Boss's Day. Service was ok -- the couple running the place were attentive, though they preferred to point you to QR codes over talking directly to you (not my favorite). Unfortunately, the customer service judgment was a bit poor. When we politely asked to lower the music briefly for a short announcement, we were told it "wouldn't be fair to other customers." There were only a few others there, five perhaps and not deeply engaged in listening to music. A small act of courtesy could've gone a long way. Old Town Salinas thrives when businesses and community support each other.

They didn't start arriving for quite a while and multiple drinks were incorrect. It was well over an hour before our food order was taken. We were almost two hours in before the food started arriving. The salads that came with meals were good. A number of folks ordered the bisque and after some entrees were already being served to some, our sever said they were out of bisque, but making some more. About a half hour later the bisque came and everyone said it was cold. I'll just describe my meal, but there were issues with others as well. I ordered the halibut ($44). It was served atop mashed potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were cold. The fish was a very thin filet (was it even halibut?), breaded and grilled. It was so hard and dry I had to use a knife to cut it. It was mostly breading and not much fish. If we were not guests of the dinner coordinator, I would have sent it back.. Our group understands the challenge of serving a big group, but this was beyond unacceptable. Is there any management oversight? Who's training the kitchen? We were seated for over three hours just to get through our meals, with no appetizers or deserts ordered. The restaurant was not busy for inside seating either.
