I've been hearing about Mosaic for a while now from a couple of different groups and finally checked it out when I was craving some wings. I haven't been here since it was an Italian restaurant so it was a pleasant surprise to see the filipino/vietnamese fusion menu. Honestly, pairs so well with the beers on tap and to line your stomach. Had to go big and try a couple options on their menu since I couldn't decide. ____________ + Bahn Xeo Tacos - I've never seen this on a menu before and it's really creative! I like the idea and they were definitely topped with a ton of food but the taco itself didn't hold up so well. Would be better to have a more crisp texture but I ended up just eating this one with utensils. + BBH - Great option to try if you want something soupy. I don't usually get BBH and would go for the pho but something was calling to me this day. Had a nice spice and noodles were chewy but would opt to get something else next time. + Fish Sauce Wings - Would 10/10 go back for the wings since they were massive, had a great crunch, and saucy without being drenched. Came out piping hot (almost too hot to eat) but worth every bite. + Fried Spring Rolls - Solid options if you want something to share with the table and smaller bites. ____________ All in all, they have a great selection of beers, ciders, and even wine on tap. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other wing flavors!

Back on taco Tuesday. And boy is it busy. I ordered the birria tacos combo. (Taco Tuesday special) So good and still delicious. Also got a dopplebock beer. My husband got the wings with fish sauce and extra spicy. "Very crispy spicy and flavorful" (his words). They were very busy today so I won't penalize them for the fact that they completely forgot my order. But they acted quickly to recover from the mistake, and I actually think that should be rewarded. This place is small so not a lot of seating indoors during this winter season. But they do have heated seating outside and covered.

For the last couple visits, the soup has comes out lukewarm served in the plastic bowl even for dine in. So for the price, small bowl and tepid broth just not satisfying. Food on the verge of being too salty. Still a great spot for afterwork pints. Beer selection is great but beertender gal seems unenthusiastic for the lively vibe.

Went here again and got to experience the crab soup (weekend special). It was SO good. Of course, had to get the obligatory pork belly skewers and green beans. The fish sauce wings were also very very good! Service great as always. Got to sit outside - it was a cooler day but the outdoor heaters made it perfect.

10/10!!!! I can't recommend this place enough. The food is amazing and the beer selection is perfection! Get the chicken wings and make sure to get the Mini Banh Xeo Tacos. This spot has so many gluten free options too. There is a large heated patio and indoor seating. This is a gem in St. John's and I want to go back all the time.

Very friendly service at this tap house with delicious Vietnamese and Filipino bites. Sake One Momokawa Organic sake on tap, Suon Nuong Pork Ribs, Mini Banh Xeo Tacos Pork Belly & Shrimp, Cha Gio Spring Rolls Pork and a hazy IPA: Urban Family Chromatic Chameleons. All were tasty!

    Beef Pho and fried tofu

Had a great Day Date with the husband. We came for the weekly special of BOGO beef Pho. Their Pho was clean, flavorful and you have to eat it with the pickled garlic and jalapeños (game changer.) We also had fried Tofu from the HH menu and that was crispiest tofu I've ever had! All I have to say is, we will be back for more!!

Fried chicken wings, ban xeo tacos, fried rice cake

Walked in on a weeknight to grab some beer and bites with friends, and was blown away by how awesome everything was! The wings were super crispy and delicious (maybe my current favorite in portland!). And the fried rice cake was a real sleeper hit, not something you see very often but they really blew it out of the park! The ban xeo tacos were also tasty, and a really fun take on the traditional vietnamese dish. Everything was cooked fresh, hot, and tasty. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and cozy, great place to relax with a cold pint! My only complaint would be the predominance of ipa's. With so many taps it would have been nice to see a little more variety, but don't let that stop you because there was plenty of good beer to go around!

Wings, Banh Xeo Tacos, and Taro Pancakes

What a unique taphouse with a great taplist and creative twist on Vietnamese cuisine for their food menu! We got a pint of the Sun River Stout (which is always great) and a cider to share, as well as a few food items. Their Bot Chien Trung was my favorite thing. The Taro Pancake was soso crispy while the eggs were fluffy and soft. Great texture contrast and flavors. Their Canh Ga Nuoc Nam were also some of the best wings we've had in town. Crispy on the outside while moist on the inside ans droused completely in spicy fish sauce. This was indeed a great pairing for the beers. Their Banh Xeo Tacos were decent, in my opinion. I liked how well-stuffed they were and their portion was great, especially with three tacos per order. However, they could have been crispier so it's a unique idea but can be improved upon. Space was big and cozy with indoors and heated outdoors seatings. Staffs were also very friendly. A super fun spot to grab some cold ones and tasty food.

Clockwise from top left: Pomelo jellyfish salad, king mushroom skewer, chicken skewer, pork belly skewer, beef la lot wraps.

If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
