My reviews follow the Yelp sequence of review...Food, service and ambiance. However our server Naha is 100% trash. The manager should be ashamed to let someone out on the floor like this and it is a disservice to what this restaurant is trying achieve. Please remove Maha from the floor and have her trained properly. You do not drop drinks, food, soups and other ordered items on the table. You put them down. In addition, she did not check on us until we were 2/3rds of the way done with our meal. If you look at my account I have dined in hundreds of places like this and not once did she check in early after the 1st round of meats were put on the grill to check if we needed a grill change or check on our status. Lastly, there are 5 people dining how hard was it for her to hand the drinks or put the drinks down close to the owner?!?! Why was she leaving it all on one end to pass down from the direction she came!?!? There was more than enough room to hand drinks to the person who order the drink; but again Maha just wanted to deliver poor experience. She may want to dine out so she learns some service skills. To top it off, once she probably realized she pooped the service portion she tells us at the END that there was a gratuity charge for 5 people. Who the fuck does this?!?! These gratuity stipulations are usually mentioned up front and not the end. So I am not sure if this was added to make up for inept and poor service. Plus gratuity inclusion such as this is usually for groups of 6 or more...My cousin who is also an Elite Yelper realized that this was going south but I saw it early on when she only had 3 tables and focused all her attention on the other two tables, then when it started to fill up I saw her do a grill change on a table within 30 minutes. But the food, beverages, refill droppings was just ridiculous and stupid on her part. Absolutely pure shit service and as a PSA to the manger, Maha made the dining experience pure garbage. Not good at all. I'll remove Maha's poor service from the food review. The food was ok. The meats (beef and pork) were tasteless or had a sour taste (quality). The fish was ok but I did not have any to comment but would have been better if Maha had offered a grill change to prevent sticking (yes, we could have asked but the food was just ok and did not order another round of fish). Surprisingly, the shrimp and mussels we ordered were good. Catastrophically, the Kim chi was apparently home made but was sour and pungent. However the dumplings, fried shrimp, scallops and xu mai were good. Just mediocre is how I would describe the food. Any of the places I took my two aunts recently, would blow this place away easily and offered a better dining and service experience. So if you are looking yum food, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. Ambiance is a shining point. Really nice and ornamented. Just right, not too flashy but not plain. Seating was spot on with good spacing between tables. Lighting was also perfect, not cave dark but not blinding. Sadly, poor service from Maha and mediocre food doomed this experience. My aunts have seen me dine and the great rapport or quality experience I have with our servers and meals so I was really disappointed by my experience at Mosu. I could not recommend this place at all, I rarely hand out 1's but Maha and ok food just allowed them to garner one.

I really appreciate Mosu for never hassling me about dining alone. Yes, it's a little silly to go to Asian barbecue alone, but I do regularly! Other places sometimes give you a hard time about taking up a whole grill, but at Mosu, I've always felt welcome. On to the food: I am trying to figure out the smashed cucumber salad marinade, because I love it. The meats are usually well marinated and well cut. There are not as many choices as some other places, but I don't need too many! I like the modern decor, and the tables are spaced so you don't feel on top of the table next to you. Better than other Asian BBQ places I've been, they're quick to replace the grill when needed and clear the empty plates. This is one of my go-to locations when I'm in Albany--someday, I should dine with someone else!

For many years we occasionally visited many times, noticeably getting worse. They took down many nice ingredients, left bunch mid or cheap ones. For now I can definitely say not worth going.

We were a group of 7, including 2 children. We made reservations as suggested and were seated promptly. You have to decide if you want hotpot or Asian BBQ as the tables are different, with different types of cookers at the tables. We decided to get the BBQ and shown how to use the iPads for ordering food, depending on whether you wanted lunch, dinner or all you can eat. We ordered various items and cooked them using metal tongs on each end of the table. Veggies, including mushrooms, all sorts of meats and seafood are brought uncooked to the table in small dishes and you grill them until they're done. You can also get items such as kimchi that are already prepared. The dining area is very modern yet cozy, with comfortable chairs. Definitely worth returning for more great dining!

Solid Kbbq AYCE option in the area. 55 is a bit steep but it's one of the only places in the area with kbbq. There's a good spread of meat cuts available and premade appetizers. Soft drinks and dessert (a variety of ice cream, smores, and creme brulee) are also included. There's a 2hr maximum per table which is more than enough time. They also offer an a la carte menu and a hotpot option as well. Been to Mosu often and the service is always great, servers are attentative and kind. The restaurant is a bit more sophisticated ambiance wise. It's dim light so it could be used for a special occassion but plenty of people use it as a casual joint as well.

So fun! You order your food, you cook your food. So many delicious choices! This was my first time here and what a great experience. We did make reservations. We ordered appetizers that come already cooked and then our menu choices of steak and salmon and vegetables. Delicious and you cook it the way you like it!

4.5 stars. Found a nice Korean AYCE In Albany. Open fire so no smoke from the grill and they change it regularly. The exhaust goes through the side of the fire so nothing hanging over head and you won't be smoked out. Portions are small so if you order from the tablet, make note it's a serving for 1 person. Some meats were seasoned well and we loved the lamb chops. Now that's a big plus, never had that in a Korean BBQ. I took off half a point coz the banchans were not that great, it could be better. Their dipping sauces are different so I had to ask for sesame oil and salt. Unfortunately they don't have crystal salts so I had to mix the oil with table salt. You can also do soup at this place along with the BBQ, aka K-pot. As you can see the place is clean and beautiful. Would definitely go back here again with my coarse salt

Second time here... and WOW it was better than the first time which we can't believe because the first visit was AMAZING! So you can count on consistency at those restaurant for quality, service and delicious food and drinks! We live a couple hours away and made it so our relaxing getaway included an early dinner at MOSU! Made reservations for 1:30pm and were a little early they could seat us and our hostess and server were top notch! Fast amazing service and again our server was so friendly funny and awesome! Drinks from the bar delicious!! I don't understand why anyone would go elsewhere! Clean fun restaurant and how other restaurants should be run!

I was at Mosu for a birthday dinner hot pot celebration and reservations were easily made online on their website. If you are anything like me, you will appreciate how user friendly their website is and it will give you a glimpse of what is on their menu. Options are endless as they also have Asian barbecue as well which I equate to a do it yourself hibachi. An important thing to note is that if you are there for lunch you have the option to order from either their all you can eat lunch menu, their more expansive dinner menu (also all you can eat) or from their a la carte menu. I think this is really great, especially for those who are looking to try something new but are not big eaters and want to keep within their budget. The ambiance is modern and clean with a really fun vibe. You can tell that the place is kept immaculate and everything served is brought to you fresh and with attention to detail. There's an iPad at the table where you simply select your drinks, and appetizers as well as your entree choices. The staff is friendly and very attentive and will patiently explain everything to you. I really enjoyed all the options available and included in the per person cost. You also have choices to add on many many more extras and skies the limit! During this visit we chose two hot pot soup options, bone broth as well as miso soup. It most certainly did not disappoint and the broths were delicious! We had a good amount of proteins and seafood along with lots of different vegetables as well as noodles. I assure you that there is most definitely something for everyone no matter the craving. I highly recommend Mosu as a must try!

But if you're looking for something milder, they're great at that, too. I think the large menu has been updated since my last visit. The first few pages include dishes that I would describe as "soul food." There's frog, beef tripe and pork intestine-- you get the picture. I never really got into that. On this visit, my friend and I picked Stir Fried Spicy Squid, Crispy Chicken with Crunchy Red Pepper and Bok Choy with Garlic. We were hungry. The veggies came out of the kitchen almost immediately. Crazy fast. We were grateful. The other two dishes took a bit more time. When you see all of the ingredients in those dishes and how finely sliced they are, it's no wonder. I loved the chicken dish. The chicken was a little crunchy but the red peppers were super crunchy. It was a bit spicy but deliciously so. I liked the peanuts and what looked like slivers of jalapeño peppers, too. The squid was also great. Here, I think they used more jalapeño peppers and spices. There was more heat to this dish but it was deceptive. The more I ate, the more I could gradually feel the burn. By the time we were full, I could feel my face starting to sweat a little. That was fun. The restaurant is clean and attractive with a remarkable amount of seating. The back portion is reserved for hot pots which I have yet to try there. The staff is friendly, helpful and bilingual. They will make suggestions if you'd like. This restaurant generally gets a bit noisy because it's where large Chinese families gather when they want to go on the town. That's a good thing. It felt brutal as the wind pierced through my coat. Winter still had us in its icy grip even if the calendar said that Spring was only days away. I was alone and I was happy to take refuge in the warm restaurant with its welcoming decor. There are pretty Chinese lamps at each booth as you enter. In the back, the large round tables were filled with families who appeared to be throwing a party. The server told me I could sit wherever I'd like. I chose the first booth. I was only too happy to come in from the cold and sit. Oh, the bowl of soup that I ordered turned out to be a dream come true! It wasn't just any soup. It was the Wonton Noodle soup lunch special at Shining Rainbow on Central Ave. in Albany. The menu is in both English and Chinese. After looking at the description, I thought I had an option to add some meat to the soup. So I asked for some roast pork. After I placed the order, a young man from the kitchen staff actually came out to ask me what kind of noodles I wanted in my soup: skinny, medium or wide. He spoke to me in Chinese. I must have really confused the staff because a second staffer also followed him out and he asked me exactly the same question in English. I was really surprised. I said to them in (Mandarin) Chinese, " Don't you usually use the thin noodles for this soup? I'll take what's easiest for you to prepare." So I realized later--after they'd gone--that I didn't actually answer their questions. I must have added to their confusion but they were so very nice and polite. About 10 minutes later, a server returns with a huge steaming bowl of soup. I'm still so cold and when I see the steam rising in the distance from the soup bowl, I'm smiling. He places the soup in front of me. It's a thing of beauty. It also had vegetables that I didn't ask for, but that's not a bad thing. I took one look into the bowl and expressed my shock, "Wow. It's huge." The server looked satisfied and walked away. Underneath the roast pork and bright green veggies, there were thin noodles swimming in soup. It smelled divine. But there were no wontons. Should I say something? No. Because this meal looked perfect. Despite the confusion that I might have contributed to-- I wound up with what I really needed--a delicious and healthy hot meal. I almost finished it, too. The servers packed the rest up for me. When the bill came, I wondered what it would be. The lunch specials which are offered Monday- Saturday are just over $10. Almost $11. Sure enough, that's what they charged me. I gave them a large tip. I think $5 or $6. They were just so nice. Perhaps I looked so cold and pitiful. Whatever the reason, it was an awesome meal that didn't break the bank and I hope I can order it again sometime with or without wontons.

(not too sure) The tofu soup I got was mild-lightly spicy and gosh it was the spiciest soup I've ever gotten and I usually eat this and other spicy foods perfectly fine! Wasn't the best for me. Alternatively the beef soup felt a bit bland but my friend liked it. Main complaint is not much beef in the soup and it tasted very tough. alternatively not much seafood either, just tiny small bits of cheap shrimps which were a bummer. Only good thing was the decent price and decent free side dishes (not many) of which only broccoli tasted good. Food took forever to come so side dishes were a life saver although they also were never refilled which at traditional places they are. Main thing: the service was quite bad... from the moment we walked in, we didn't feel welcome as no one welcomed us, dirty tables were everywhere (like in those video games you play to clean up), and we waited awhile at the counter looking at menus until someone greeted us with an attitude yelling that counter is only for to-go and we should've just sat down if we're dining in... she huffed and sat us down, surrounded by the dirty tables. We asked if we could sit elsewhere but as big as the restaurant was, she still said half of it was closed for dinner (I know other places do the same but they were kind enough to let us sit in that area when requested) and the reason why this time, was because we were literally sitting surrounded by dirty dishes all around us - which they never cleaned up the entire hour we dined here! Very unpleasant view-never have I ever! Even our current table was sticky. And the food and service took forever. She seemed very annoyed when we ordered and whenever we asked for water or refill side dishes and gave attitude like we obviously need to wait for her to appear and be free to even ask which she was rarely seen. I never saw her treat other customers like the same way she treated us, for them, she was very patient and kind and offered menu options and even personal talk. Seems like she doesn't like tourists, just regulars. Anyways she was rarely seen throughout the meal and so I just sucked up the not so good food and we finished and took awhile to get the check. That was the only point in the interaction she seemed to be present in the restaurant. Other times she was nowhere to be seen. When paying, she loudly exclaimed what do you want to tip? In an attitude saying that, we had to tip, and it had to be a sufficient amount otherwise she'd be upset - which she was because service was not good. Even when we left and said bye, she gave us no word back and just another one of those scowled looks. Only one lady working the front and she was barely present and not pleasant. Overall food really isn't bad but it isn't amazing either. If this cuisine is what you're craving go for it, it's fairly priced. I would support a small business. But don't expect a clean restaurant or friendly service - unless youre a regular or fits the server preferred demographic. Not the best experience for me. Whole heartedly believe if service was better this could be a solid place!

I may be part of the Asian club but I'm not a part of this particular inner circle. Being Filipino…read more(or being human, for that matter), I tend to compare and contrast cuisines based on my own experience. With several Asian cuisines, rice seems to be the preferred carb. Korean black rice differs primarily in appearance - purple hue due to the mix of black and white rice. Gimbap (Kimbap) - is often described as Korean sushi. In doing some research, there's a distinct difference between the two. The seasonings used to flavor the steamed rice are salt and sesame oil. They are usually stuffed with cooked protein (beef, pork, tofu, fishcake) and pickled vegetables. They seem to be a larger diameter than maki sushi as well. Good? You betcha. Tonkatsu lunch is a favorite....think German pork schnitzel over black rice. The sauce seems to be Tteokbokki (glutinous rice cake) derived - sweet and slightly spiced. There are usually banchan (side dishes) accompanying the meal: kimchi, cucumber pickle, daikon, and eomuk (fish cake). They provide added contrast to the meal. The service has always been efficient and cordial every time I've picked up my order here.

We had other plans for Thanksgiving, but after all the driving around, both of us were too tired to…read moredo anything but call around looking for something good and open in Albany. On my short list of Chinese restaurants to try was Ocean Palace, and thankfully, they picked up right away. This was our first visit, and we will probably be going back. There were quite a few customers, but the place has an airy feel that was quite comfortable. Lots of windows, comfortable tables, and a very calm feel to it. Staff here was great: attentive and friendly, and very accepting of my ridiculous enthusiasm for soup dumplings. :) We lived in NYC for 30+ years, and a considerable number of my dining out experiences were weekend mornings in Chinatown in Manhattan (sorry, no experience with Flushing). We've eaten a lot of dim sum over the years, so we started with a dim-sum-esque variety (the edamame dumplings in veg broth were very good, but the spring rolls were too oily), then my husband ordered baby bok choy and shitake mushrooms, beautifully presented and which he loved. But me? I ordered a *second* steamer of soup dumplings. Yes, my Thx dinner was almost entirely soup dumplings, and I'd do it again next year (don't tell my grandma). The soup in the dumpling and the meat filling were excellent. The *ONLY* quibble I have is that the wrapper was thick, almost doughy. The regular steamed vegetable dumplings had very thin wrappers, much more what I was expecting. The thickness made it much easier to get it into your spoon with chopsticks, but, again IMO, it put the proportions off. As is probably obvious, I'm neither a chef nor Chinese, or I'd have a much bigger frame of reference. There is also always a wide variety in how different families make their biscuits, etc. The food at Ocean Palace was not the best I've ever had, but it was very tasty, and though the soup dumplings were not perfect, I'd have them for lunch today again if I could.

Although slightly pricier than comparable restaurants (very few serving similar items lol) in the area, the freshness & quality of the dishes make sense. Have had: Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings ("Sha lang bao") & Spicy Wontons are great. Honey Walnut Shrimp, Chicken Chestnut in a Pot (staff encouraged this items around the holidays instead of Chicken & Cashews - really good!), Beef with String Beans, Rice Cake with Pork & Capsella (tasty! Think chewy gnocchi tossed with a chopped leafy green. Slightly cilantro-like?), Shanghai curried vermicelli rice noodles, Lo Mein... Everything is great! Sleeper Hit is the appetizer Beef Shank in Soy Sauce ($11) - think finely shaved fall-apart roast beef with soy dipping sauce (a bit of grisle but collagen is healthy!) & House Aster Veggie Salad (not sure what this veg/herb is but it's light & fresh with bits of firm tofu). Not a huge fan of the Pan Fried Pork Bun or House Rice Shao Mai (sticky rice in a dumpling) - more carbs and little else. Dong Po Pork is a good traditional appetizer dish, but not a huge fan of eating around the pork belly fat. Note: the dumplings & wontons are best for dine-in & eaten right away. Don't let the wrappers get cold & tear! Decor is simple, clean and the restaurant staff is quick & family friendly.

TV news broadcast dire predictions during every 24 hour news cycle. So of course, cooking and acquiring food while binging movies and TV shows on cable became the obvious means by which to deflect attention from the rising COVID body counts world-wide and dire predictions. High anxiety was the order of the day, and tippling, cooking, take outs and eating became a reliable means to blunt it. Between TV binging we continued our years long, fanatical search for Xiao Long Bao -- or anything Asian to cook of takeaway and eat TV-side. HU's is a small Chinese joint in Albany, near where we received our Covid vaccines, and a good 90 minute drive from our home. There was nothing that vaguely resembled a good Shanghainese take out joint any closer - so when we didn't care to cook Asian, we made the trip to Albany for takeaway. As it turns out, HU's makes some authentic and delicious soup dumplings, and other dim sum like shrimp har gow, perfectly seasoned sweet/sour soup and some very tasty Scallion pancakes and Peking style duck. It was well worth the 3 hour round trip to take away -- or even eat in. The restaurant enforced social distancing making the eat in experience feel safe and authentic. I dunno. It's been a while since our HU's excursions in 2021, but I think in hindsight the food is truly a solid 4 stars good. I can't get to 5 stars because I could not rate the service due to pandemic restrictions in restaurants. Service was diminished due to social distancing during Covid times - but the restaurant was sparkly clean everywhere we looked. I imagine the same is still true today. So if you find yourself craving Shanghainese when in Albany, NY - HU's is a solid choice. The fact that their food selection and quality was high during the worst pandemic in the last 100 years speaks volumes about HU's food cred. Top tip: Even though the dumpling skins are bit on the thick side, stick with XLB and dim sum. They are NY Chinatown worthy. The usual Cantonese dishes like egg foo young, chow fun and ribs are serviceable too.

The menu which comes on a tablet is formatted in a way that is a bit foreign but if you are able to stick with it you will find the Chinese specialties Americans are used to under American Style and Staples. My daughter and grandkids ordered from those 2 sections I ordered from Sichuan and Liaoning and made converts of the rest of the table. Dishes we ordered and devoured: Steamed as well as as fried Pork and cabbage dumplings: Plump, not doughy, delectable. The youngest got some pineapple chicken ting that she devoured. Daughter ordered Beef & Broccoli and a rice noodle dish with chicken. The broccoli was tasting, the noodles were not over cooked, the plate was cleaned by 3 at the table. Grandson ordered General Tsaos chicken. Looked good, he ate 90% of it. Thy other Grandmom and myself ordered the Eggplant with minced pork, stir fried cabbage and Mapo Tofu. INCREDIBLE. Daughter and Grandson reluctantly tried the 3 dishes and tucked into them like they'd never see food again. Lastly, I ordered the tea. A small pot with a loose mixture of high quality leaves that you can keep refilling from the carafe of hot water. We pried the mix they use out of one of the waiters because we need to have this again and again!

The ambiance tonight was like a house party because there was a work party going on - so it was unusually loud. It is normally pretty quiet there. The pics tell a better story about the food than I can right now, but I will describe one: The poached fillet is a treasure chest of good stuff. It has sea bass, enoki mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, bok choy, etc. I did not realize this until I dipped the spoon under the fish. It is worth every penny. The flavor deepens with every bite.
