    Bubble tea
    Alexandra H.

Came here for dinner. My work colleague recommended the place since I like Ramen and bubble tea. I ordered a bubble tea and the Thai crispy chicken. The cashier recommended I get the value meal, which was a good deal. The tea tasted great. The crispy chicken was good too. Nice and crunchy. It had good seasoning and it was a big portion. Overall, great experience! I'll be back soon. Would love to try the rolled ice cream.

I have been here numerous occasions, and everything you eat here is so worth it! It is a little pricey, but definitely worth the money since there aren't many other places around here that has both bubble tea and ramen. The food is always delicious - whether it's the ramen, Taiwanese chicken, fried dumplings, all amazing! I highly recommend coming here if you want quick service and great food!

The food here is so mediocre. Made my kid sick. If I want ramen I'll go to Asian Kitchen in Hammond instead. Ice cream was good but not worth the wait at all. Shocked at the loyal following, actually.

Finally a boba place nearby! The drinks are good and the boba tastes fresh. It's not too sweet and the texture is good. We ordered the Thai tea and matcha green tea, which we both enjoyed. I also went on another day and ordered the spicy miso ramen. It wasn't too spicy and the noodles were cooked well. My only slight complaint was that I visited around 11:15 and the boba wasn't ready yet. If the place opens at 11, why wouldn't it be ready when the store opens? I wasn't in a rush, so I waited about twenty minutes until I got my drink. I will be going again to try the rolled ice cream! Pretty good place so far!

Tips: *The bubble tea menu is more expansive inside than online. *They are taking Covid precautions seriously. *When you walk in the first thing you will see is an assortment of over 20 macaroons that aren't on the online menu- buy some! Wow, this place blew my expectations out of the water! Our family was desperate for some ramen after having an unsuccessful beach trip (I really wish Google could stay up on Covid closings) and I found this place on our way home. Bonus that it had bubble tea too! We ordered online and our food was ready in 15 minutes. We had a ramen/bubble tea tailgate party in the parking lot. The tonkatsu broth was perfect (we got spicy and reg - spicy was a nice heat but not too much). I especially loved how they packaged the noodles and toppings separately (maybe that's standard? I don't usually get ramen take out). We could have traveled quite a while before eating if we hadn't wanted to eat in the parking lot. And I could add half the noodles at a time. The crunchy chicken was also a big hit! I loved my strawberry taro milk tea; my daughter said her matcha milk foam was "weird" but drank it. I wish we lived closer so we could try everything!

It looks absolutely wonderful, a really fantastic vibe here really. Superrrr delicious caramel pudding bobba tea. Don't want to go too far or in the mood for some ramen with some flavor? Get a nice experience while your around the area shopping.

Great place, very open seating area, clean and friendly staff too. We both had the Ramen n thought it was a weeee bit salty for us but very flavorful as well. The definitely didn't skimp on the meats n noodles either. Bubble Tea was tasty too. Would definitely go back, maybe ask for em to water down the broth a bit though.

Overall, it is an overpriced restaurant. I do not recommend ramen due to the fact that the broth is not made from scratch, which the broth should be made from real pork bone. I do recommend both Taiwanese fried chicken and bubble tea. They are authentic Taiwanese food but overpriced as appetizers. You can have a full Popeyes combo with less than $10, but you have to pay around $12 to get only an order of Taiwanese fried chicken and a bubble tea. Lastly, if you never try Taiwanese fried chicken and bubble tea before, this is a good place to start with!

I visited Motea on the recommendation from a fb friend who said "this is the best ramen I've ever had." For me, it was not the case. The first time I visited, who I believe to be an employee said it was closed. Which was confusing because the doors were unlocked and the place was full of people laughing and standing around. I guess they must've been family and friends. I just went back a couple of days later. The inside was very clean and organized. The place smelled like the fresh cut wood used the make the tables. The atmosphere was very bright. The menu was nice given that they were on nice TVs, but the ramen on the menu was separate and kept on a paper menu on the counter. I could tell off the bat that their specialty is the beverages and ramen came secondary. I ordered a pork ramen and a pineapple smoothie. My boyfriend ordered the seafood ramen. The smoothie tasted like pineapple sorbet, which was fine. The ramen on the other hand was so bad, despite looking really good. I think the broth absorbed the taste of the pickled bamboo shoots and it just took on a very weird flavor. The texture of the broth was weird as well. My bf didn't like his either, but he can be very critical, so I'm not really sure about the seafood one. I would've rather had the 25 cent ramen at home. I really really wanted to like it, but it missed the mark. Normally I drive to Mitsuwa marketplace to get good ramen, so I was hoping to have good ramen in my neighborhood. I was just so disappointed. I would go back, but only for ice cream and drinks.

    Motea has the smoothies.

Some friends of ours recently checked Motea out and enjoyed it immensely. One of them said the Ramen is on par with Chicago. I'm always open to finding spots in NWI that are comparable to Chicago area spots. So I told D that we have to give it a try. We went on a random Saturday mid-afternoon. We literally were the only customers for a bit which was good as we needed time to figure out the menu. Our total cost quickly shot up to over $40 when we ordered a pot sticker appetizer, two Ramen bowls, and two teas. I was an instant fan of the ginger milk tea with tapioca seeds. I noted that Motea followed the mantra of using big bowls and only half filling them. But we both enjoyed the noodles and broth. One interesting observation. The pepper was missing on the tables. D being a pepper lover asked the front desk if they had any and was told they didn't. It was a bit odd as it's a pretty common condiment. D made a mental note to bring pepper next time. A better value was the rolled ice cream we got afterwards. D and I were happy to be reintroduced to rolled ice cream after first enjoying it in Vegas. I got Tiramisu while D got Nutella. I will say for me my ice cream tasted more vanilla than Tiramisu. The Nutella had slightly more of that flavor but again mostly tasted like chocolate ice cream. But they do give you plenty of rolled ice cream which is perfect for a summer day. As some have commented previously, they seem to be more of a tea place then Ramen. They have a whole lot more selection of teas which I guess makes sense given their name. I do look forward to trying more of their teas in the future and once in a blue moon try a Ramen bowl.

(Will update review when for ramen eventually) Great boba milk tea! I ordered the rose milk tea with taI'm glad that it's not too sugary like most places you go to. Macaroon was pretty decent too. There is a minimum for card, so my advice is to bring cash. The best part about the drinks is that they have punch chards! UPDATE: The Ramen here is absolutely amazing. The broth is so flavorful and I appreciate the portion size. I recommend getting the house Ramen, steamed dumplings, and the seaweed salad.

While driving through Schererville, we decided to stop at Motea and see what Indiana boba was like. The store is in a really convenient location (right off of 41, and close to route 30). It has lots of seating and space to hang out in for a while. We got 2 drinks (brown sugar milk tea and mango green tea) and a rolled Tiramisu ice cream. I was not a big fan of the boba here. The tapioca seemed kind of hard which made it seem not very fresh. When I asked the cashier about different sugar levels, she told me they use a jam for the flavors, so if they use less jam to make a drink less sweet, the flavor of the drink would be weaker. With this in mind, the flavor of both drinks were good and strong. The ice cream was pretty good, and I would definitely order it again. It also had cute decorations.

I ordered a bunch of different things so we could try a bit of everything, and overall it was really good. I got the sushi boat for two ($62.99), and I was impressed by how much food it was for the price. It's all chef's choice, the rolls we got in our order was a Godzilla roll and a California roll. It also doesn't mention it on DD, but it includes miso soup and salad for two as well, which was a nice bonus. The fish tasted fresh in everything we ordered. We also got more rolls. The super white tuna roll ($6.49) was exactly what you'd expect. The salmon tempura roll ($7.99) wasn't too heavy or oily. The golden pillows appetizer ($6.99) was one of my favorites. It's tofu skin stuffed with rice and and spicy tuna and topped with avocado. It's well balanced and I wish they came in a larger order. You get two pieces. My other favorite was the volcano roll ($15.99) which is fried white fish and cream cheese topped with spicy tuna. I also tried the sweet potato tempura roll ($5.99) which was way too crunchy for my preferences. I would have preferred it to be softer. That said, everything else was delicious, and I'd definitely order again. I'd just skip the sweet potato roll next time.

Unfortunately, what should have been a special family evening turned into a disappointing and unacceptable experience. When my son and his family arrived, they were told they had to remain in the waiting area. He politely asked why they couldn't be seated inside and was told it was because their party exceeded four people. When my husband and I arrived shortly after, I asked the same question and was given the exact same explanation. However, the dining area was nearly empty -- only two couples were seated inside at the time. Shortly afterward, a larger family (five or more people) walked in and was immediately seated indoors. At that point, it was clear that the reasoning given to us was inconsistent. After I addressed the situation, another staff member stepped in, apologized, and attempted to make things right, even offering a complimentary drink. While I acknowledge that effort, the issue was not about a free drink. It was about how my family was treated from the start. The way my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren were initially handled was unacceptable and left a lasting impression. Good food does not excuse poor or inconsistent treatment. This experience reflects a need for better communication, consistency, and customer service standards. Because of this, I will not be returning. I hope this is taken seriously so that other families do not experience the same treatment.
