Pineapple Fried Rice and Massaman Curry.
    J R.

The food was so good. It was everything we were hoping for when we decided to come here today. This review has a vegan bent. Most of their entrees can be adapted to being vegan, besides some of the salads, per our server, who I suspect is an owner...? And this is something we really appreciate. A lot of things are labeled vegan on the menu but you can assume this applies to most items, "just let us know." Further, everyone seemed happy. The employees were all friendly. Everyone there seemed to be having a good time. This restaurant also appears to be welcoming to families. It was just me and my girlfriend, but two other tables had small children. Relatedly, they have a small store that has candy and such. This is going to sound weird but it's true. The water was so cold and refreshing. Beyond the water, the food was served quickly following our orders, less than 10 minutes for sure. Also, everything tasted like it was literally just taken off of a stove. We bought the Pineapple Cashew Fried Rice with fried tofu, the Massamon Curry with fried tofu, and the Guay Chai. We love fried tofu and being able to add that to both main dishes was like xmas. The Guay Chai seemed fresh, hot and soft, and the dipping sauce (not sure what it was) was sweet and had a thick consistency. The portions were substantial, the pricing was more than reasonable, and the food was amazing. We brought home enough food for dinner tonight, we went early evening, and maybe breakfast tomorrow? Note: The picture was taken after we had eaten for a bit and does not include the additional rice or the Guay Chai.

Ordering the food over the phone wasn't terrible...but I wish the quality and taste of the food were better. I had a taste for Thai food - specifically pad Thai which is one of my favorite dishes. I ordered that along with the Thai basil fried rice (was to be a bit spicy) and was severely disappointed. Both dishes tasted similar. If I was blindfolded I probably wouldn't be able to pick which was which. I didn't dine in - this was carry-out. The restaurant itself looks small.

Sometimes it can be a big ask for restaurants to live up to their names, but Five Star Thai has no issue with that. Whenever I come to visit my parents, we like to order from here to go, but recently I finally had the privilege to dine in. I'm a sucker for a good Panang curry, and here is no different. You get plenty of food and can usually make two meals out of it. Overall, the food is fantastic and the service is great as well. To be honest, this is probably the best Thai place in all of The Region.

So... this place has done some updating. Food and service was kind of amazing. So much better than when I had written my first review. Ordered the spring rolls and the beef noodle soup and both were cooked perfectly and super yummy. The soup is a HUGE portion. And yum. I'm really glad I went back. Of course, it always helps when you're with great company. :)

This is a small place hidden from US 30. I walked in on a Monday around 7:30 and had a hearty conversation with the owner. I asked for yellow curry chicken, but he said yellow is not typically eaten in Thailand; the red is more common and has better flavor. He recommended I try any of the red curry dishes. I ended up ordering Bankok chicken, with peanuts, baby corn, water crests, bamboo and it was quite tasty. I got two filling meals out if it Dining area is open again, but I took my food to go since I'm currently traveling with two dogs service was fast and friendly.

The food wasn't bad. Just more on the bland side. The service far as greetings was blasé. The ambiance was inviting.

Incredibly expensive for lack luster tasting food. Does not meet the mark in Thai food in our opinion.

Pretty good, good menu, not hot at all. Tried 4-5 times. Good staff, not exactly a date kind of spot.

The website specifically states a dress code of a collared shirt, business attire and sport coat - no jeans. We dressed for dinner and we were really disappointed when people were wearing hoodies and jeans. The menu looked really good online. Especially since they have Chilean sea bass on the menu. Needless to say, I was excited and looking forward to our reservation. The food was disappointing. The sea bass was supposed to be sautéed and it was crusty. I ordered a side of a twice baked potato, which appeared to be processed. My husband had soup, which was luke warm. Lastly, we both had a side salad and each salad had only one grape tomato and one slice of cucumber. It just seemed off. I really think the strangest thing was that this was portrayed as an upscale restaurant, but has 4 tvs broadcasting sports. That's fine if you are going out to a sports bar or restaurant, but we would have gone to BW3s to get chicken wings and a beer if we wanted to watch hockey. The service was pleasant, but not extraordinary for the prices. I was disappointed because I really wanted a more romantic date with my husband to celebrate our anniversary and his birthday.

One of the best restaurants in Lake County in my opinion hands-down if not the best. Top shelf liquor to go with your meal. Food is top notch! The 3 cheese augratin potatoes as well as their homemade mac & cheese are superb! Expensive;yes but worth it in my opinon. Only a few dollars more than say The Lighthouse-Prime-Gino's or Keith's (another favorite). Only open though on Fridays and Saturdays 5-9PM. Located in Inverness golf club but open to the public. If you want to make reservations even though I don't think you'll need them because it's such a secret that it's not real crowded but if you want call the golf course club house instead of The restaurants listed number because you'll get someone to answer instead of the machine;ENJOY!

I will never return to Jerk & Go in Merrillville on US 30…read more My party of two waited almost two hours before our food was finally served. When it arrived, every single dish was cold. The manager had to take the food to the back and microwave it before bringing it back to us. We ordered two oxtail dinners ($35 each), jerk lamb chops ($36), chicken Alfredo pasta ($28.50), jerk chicken wings ($12.50), a Calypso drink ($3), and a Corona ($5). Our bill came to $190.63, and we were surprised to see a group gratuity added for only two people. The food was a huge disappointment. The oxtails and rice were cold, the macaroni was completely tasteless, the lamb chops were extremely dry, and the jerk chicken wings tasted old. After waiting nearly two hours, this was unacceptable. When we told the manager about the wings, he insisted on remaking them. When we asked about a refund because of the quality of the food, he told us they do not issue refunds. Instead of showing concern about our experience, he also made jokes about how much food I ordered. I felt judged and uncomfortable, which made an already disappointing experience even worse. Between the nearly two-hour wait, cold food that had to be microwaved, poor food quality, the unexpected group gratuity for just two people, and the way our concerns were handled, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. After spending almost $200, I expected much better food and customer service. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant. I just don't understand after having to wait two hours. How are you gonna give me cold food then go microwave it how I know I still had a bite out of the lamb chop.
