This is by the far best and nicest Motel 6 I have ever stayed at. I almost couldn't believe this was the same chain, but I also know that we payed almost triple to what I'm used to paying for a stay. I realize that this is in California and prices are a touch higher than, let's say, the midwest, but I was very happy with the cleanliness and modern upgrades they chose for their rooms. We had just traveled from Houston to Gilroy, CA over the past 2 days and had stayed in some pretty nasty places. This was one of the cheapest options outside of San Jose. I'm not able to speak to a full experience as we were only there for some of the evening and left early the next day. However, I can tell you that I finally got some sleep because I wasn't nervous for our safety or loud noises coming from outside. The room was clean and cool during the very warm summer days and I actually felt clean when I got out of the shower. Also, the individuals working at the front desk were very kind and polite. This place sucks for as much money as it cost. $120. Minimal Internet at best. Every device needs it's own log in code. We had 5 between phones and tablets. The furniture is definitely from Ikea. I am only giving a star for the front desk staff that were very friendly "you get what you pay for" right? Well In this case I paid $230 for one night .. ONE NIGHT! for a motel 6 that is normally at most $60 bucks. My family and I came to this hotel to get some rest after the garlic festival it was a hot day my mother is handicapped so we decided to spend the night before the trip home to rest, There were no other rooms that were available when I called around a month ago I even called ahead of time to ask if they had a mini fridge or a microwave and they don't, I did end up seeing a microwave in the hallway by the ice machine, the room smelled like old mop water, they only had one tiny bar of soap and a few towels for 4 people, of course I forgot toothpaste and asked for a small complementary one and the front desk staff said they do not provide anything else but soap that the vending machines sell some, $2.50 fyi, The lock on my door was broken and twice people tried their cards on my door freaking me out and my daughter so I had to get up to say "wrong room", I could expect this from a motel 6 for $40 bucks but $230?!? If you are looking for comfort and a clean room I suggest going somewhere else. read more

Stayed here when passing through. The rooms were updated and felt very modern, (hardwood floors, no dressers, modern shelving in bathroom, flat screen tv on wall) but lacked the welcoming and cozy feel I would have preferred after a long day of traveling. Also, the beds were on the harder side. "Free wifi" meant one code per room so only one person and on one devise could use it. After that it was 2.99 per access code. I understand that for some this might have been a fine scenario but for my family and I, it wasn't. I couldn't wait for morning to come so I could pack up the car and head out. I came to this hotel during a work trip and this hotel is amazing. My room was really clean and the lady at the front desk was really friendly and gave really good customer service. I needed an extra pillow so i asked a house keeper by the name of olivia she is really nice and got me my pillow. The next morning they offered coffee which i thought was really nice. It's Motel 6...what would you expect? The room was clean and basic. My son had a tournament the next day early in the morning, so all we needed was a place to sleep. Not the Four Season crowd, then again it is Motel 6, so for the people who were whining about the surly construction workers and rough looking, possible tweaker lurking in the area, relax. You get what you pay for, and at 79.99 in Silicon Valley, that is a bargain. You would pay double that for the Hilton Garden Inn next door and it is the same tweaker crowd lurking in the area. The front desk gal was super nice and it was the perfect place for our 11 hour stay. Oh, and who leaves their laptop or other electronics in their room when away??? Very, very simple. We stayed here for the Gilroy Garlic Festival in July 2012. Not much to this place. We stayed in a room with 1 queen bed. Here's some notes - * There's just 2 small bars of soap (one for hands, one for shower) in the bathroom. No facial tissue (you have to use toilet paper). No shampoo. No conditioner. No lotion. * Towels are super thin. * Staff was friendly. We stayed on the second floor and the elevator was broken when we first checked in. (It was fixed 30 min later) I really needed to use the bathroom and there's no public bathroom on the first floor so they let me use their staff one. * No bedbugs, we checked mattress before getting in. * Mattress was old and kinda springy and when we lifted the fitted sheet we saw stains. * Coverlet had many cigarette burns! You'd think they'd change it out for a newer one. * Free parking. No permit needed = nice. * Lots of night time noise - near a freeway and train tracks * Strong toilet, good flush, but it was super loud. We could hear our neighbors flush their toilet/ take a shower. * Just 1 nightstand, not 1 on each side * Just 1 garbage in the bathroom, not one in the main room * Old "bubble" tv, not a flat screen (Yay for a remote!) * Internet connection was $2.99/ day. The front desk lady wrote down a code for us and it didn't work. We had to call the 800 number for help and another guy gave us the right code to use. Occasionally, we had to re-enter the code while we used the internet. * Curtains are not blackout curtains, still some light shows through * A/C has a funny buzzing noise that could potentially wake someone up * Great lighting in the room. Haha, was nice for taking pics of our baby playing in the room * The pillows initially look big and fluffy, but there were really 2 flat pillows shoved in one pillowcase. * Bath tub was odd triangle shape. Super small soap holder/ shelf thing that couldn't even hold the small 1 inch by 2 inch soap they give you. Overall, totally clean and decent for staying in. Not luxurious at all though. Super basic. Thankfully I brought my own shampoo/ conditioner/ lotion/ pillow from home and it made things better. read more

You get what you pay for. If you want extra pillows you have to go down to the front desk to get them. Our window did not have a screen. Concern about distance to Emergency stair exit. Is city of Gilroy aware of this? No evacuation plan on back of our door. Felt compelled to go out and purchase a first alert Emergency ladder in case of a fire. Door lock does not work properly. This Motel 6 is right next to the Hilton hotel. The outside looks just as nice as the Hilton! Too bad its nothing like the Hilton! The front desk had good service, but once you get your keys its another thing. The elevator wait takes a long time, once your inside the elevator it smells very bad and its very dirty. Now for the rooms, I personally checked the bed sheets and the blankets. The bed sheets had stains, it seems like they never change or wash these sheets. The blankets looks like its been used for years without being replaced, some wear and tear on the blankets. One thing good about the hotel room was the bathroom! The bathroom was the cleanest part of Motel 6. I would rather sleep in the bathroom than the beds!!! Overall, my experience with Motel 6 was horrible! I will never ever go to Motel 6 again! Paid a whopping $105 to stay at this filthy motel 6. Customer service was non-existent. The Wi-Fi did not work. It was 105 degrees that day when I arrived and my car had broke down. I asked for a phone book at the front desk and they claimed they did not have one. I said, well give me a phone number for a nearby restaurant so I can order some food to be delivered to my room. Nope, Nada, then the rude night manager comes and threatens to throw me out of my room with no refund. Shocking. I have been using motel 6 as I am a traveling business woman and I was using them every weekend. I called the corporate office and got nowhere. No one ever called me back. I will never use any motel 6 ever. I will gladly pay extra money to stay at a much better place from now on. read more

I loved this hotel. This hotel blows the preconceived notion of a Motel 6 simply being a "trashy motel" out of the water. When I first checked in, the customer service was impeccable, the room was clean and decorated as if it were straight out of the latest Ikea catalog with modern furniture, decoration, and style. The sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the towels were clean, and there were no complaints on my part. Furthermore, the free coffee offered in the morning is a nice homey touch that makes the morning check out process easier. The new management fails to take responsibility for their illegal negligent maintenance of code required safety locks on doors. Most of this Motel 6's doors don't lock properly - watch out for that, and theft. All of the exterior doors were broken until I complained in writing extensively to the Corporation Motel 6. A manager who seeks to separate herself from her similar in appearance workers who are multinational, and some have a Spainish family background, places the name of her nationality on her chest which I find deeply offensive. It is as if she is stating, I'm from THIS ISLAND, not CENTRAL AMERICA OR NATIVE AMERICA. REALLY CHEAP This motel 6 fails to provide adequate blankets to its guests. The beds have a thin cover. You have to ask for a blanket!!!! SMOKING ON THE PREMISES Staff have asked me to report, point out, and complain about patrons smoking in their rooms, doors, or on the motel premises, only to be reprimanded by the new manager for having complained. The rooms are supposed to be smokeless but they are not. You can often be stuck with a room that stinks of cigarrettes. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SMOKE LESS THAN 20 FEET FROM ANY FACILITY DOOR, IN CALIFORNIA - PLACE OF WORK AND RENTAL HOUSING. Rooms for rent facilities have to create a place that is dedicated for smokers to smoke routinely. JACKED UP PRICING - NOT THE BEST DEAL This particular Motel 6 tries as hard as it can to raise its prices when often it has many vacancies. The rooms near the hallway doors are horrible. There is constant noise. The rooms near the hallway windows are horrible because patrons and THEIR VISITORS SMOKE cigarrettes and other substances. OTHER KNOCK OUT SMELLS. Gilroy is the garlic capital of the world, maybe. During specific months, the garlic processing factor is in full 24 hour operation. Sometimes the fumes hit the building and penetrate the building so strongly that you will awaken from the smell. I love garlic but the pervasiveness of the processed garlic in a motel room will disturb you. FALSE ADVERTISING ABOUT FREE WIFI FOR SPECIAL GROUPS FALSE ADVERTISING ABOUT WIFI They advertise WiFi. Motel 6 in general has very poor if not void wireless service. This Motel 6 lies to its customers perpetually. The management lied to a group of engineers who were visiting - all had a great deal of equipment. None could get Wireless and the staff just lied and lied to their faces when the staff knew that no real wireless was available. Of course the managment have wireless and you can see that. MOTEL 6 FAILS TO PROVIDE DO NOT DISTURB SIGNS. They advertise that special individuals with discounts can stay as long as 2 PM by contract. But they break that contract and use their cleaning staff to harass the visitors as early as 8 AM by pounding on the doors with pennies. ROOMS ARE VANDALIZED - REPORT THE VANDALISM IMMEDIATELY Visitors use bathroom fixtures to consume drugs. Often the fixtures are gone. Due to the drought, this and other Motel 6 will fail to provide adequate water to take a reasonable shower. NASTY HATEFUL MALICOUS MANAGEMENT, FANTASTIC WORKERS. read more

I was going to stay here two nights but after getting rudely woken up by the people cleaning the hallway with a carpet cleaner i will never stay here again. Paid $100 to get woke up early, after i had a 6 hour drive and spent anthor 6 hours moving stuff into a uhaul. I was hoping to to get more rest because i have another full day of moving stuff. 3 more hours of sleep would have be nice. There is no mini frig or microwave. Hell i think im going to stay at the crack motel next time or just sleep in the truck. Definitely not worth the $100 bucks to stay here. I wish i could give zero stars. I like to stay at motel 6 when I travel so have seen quite a few. This particular motel 6 is one of the nicest I have stayed in. The staff is awesome, the room was clean and very well maintained. Had the opportunity to meet the manager when I was checking out and she was gracious and gave me some great advice regarding restaurants and things to do in gilroy. I live about three hours away and used to live here in Gilroy. I normally stay at the Marriott in Morgan Hill but my budget couldn't afford that this week so, here I am. Not nearly as bad as I imagined! No, there isn't coffee, shampoo etc. in the room but they do have coffee in the lobby... ended up in a 'smoking' room but was surprised it didn't stink as you would think. I love fresh air and there were no screens on the window and the windows are old and single paned... bed ok, I slept fine... TV old... but hey for 53.00 a night, what do you expect? Saturday night $95 nothing special. Not the cleanest hotel in the area but you get what you pay for. Staff is ehh very slow at checking us in and not very friendly. I was able to sleep well and take a hot shower in the morning. The soap sucked, just a generic hotel bar and the towels were old and felt horrible. She sheets were not very comfortable and were shrunken. They slipped off the edges and had to adjust them a couple times. No microwave or mini fridge in the room I got. The front desk agent, a female on duty at 4am the night of the 24th of July was extremely rude and condescending in tone, demeanor and basically told me that "her job was to sell the room " in lieu of me calling several hours prior to advise of late check in. This is the worst motel ever. If I wanted to stay next to loud rude people , I would of stayed home. Elevators are broken so on the bottom floor you can hear everything. Beds are like a bad pull out sofa bed. So uncomfortable and a burn hole through all the sheets. A gross stain and annoying drip in the tub. If you want a small bar soap and shower cap you have to go to the front desk to get them. Hard wood floors but not one rug. Also you have to pay if you want wifi. Naturally I don't expect too much from an econo motel. But this one has some rooms that have been remodeled and some that haven't. Be sure to insist on a newly remodeled room. We got stuck in an old room. The air conditioner did not work, the toilet was loose, the window screen was bent. Stuffy in our little cell-sized room. I'm going to give it 5 stars because it was our best night's sleep on our week of travel on 101, and because the price was reasonable at $75 a night on a midsummer weeknight. The beds were new or recent, the wall paint was likewise, the shower and bathroom were modern, and the air conditioning worked well and was nearly silent, which was a first for a motel for us. Admittedly the decor looked like it was from a 1960's Star Trek episode, and there was no complimentary breakfast other than coffee and no free shampoo etc., but we don't care about that stuff - we care about quiet and a good bed and cleanliness and a good AC. Not sure how our experience jibes with the terrible reviews, except maybe that the owners got read the riot act and started gutting the old rooms. We'd stay here again...well, probably check the room first, but our room was was seriously quiet, comfortable, and good value for money. read more

This is the worst hotel I have ever seen it. This coming from someone who travels at least once a month... For the past 10 years! The room was relatively clean I will give them that, the wifi is unusable. There is no Shampoo for the showers! There is no tissues. The rooms are lacking basic necessities. I called the front desk to inquire about tissues and shampoo, and was told they do not offer them here. The person I spoke to also told me they would not stay here! That is concerning. I stayed for one night and couldn't even actually sleep. I felt a little grossed out. Blankets looked dirty, pillows were ripped, heater was VERY noisy all night it kept making popping sounds, the bathtub was very nasty, their vending machines were out of order and finally their morning coffee was cold. We never stay in Motels actually but we were running out of options and HAD to stay here overnight. We arrived a little after midnight. Very pleasant and affordable stay when I encountered the 101 closed due to flooding. Motel 6 was also in the overflowing creek flood path and the staff had lists of other local hotels that did not face the prospect of being evacuated. They wanted potential guests to be aware of their options in the event the place was put under evacuation orders, which meant no refund. I rolled the dice that I could stay the night and woke up the next morning and saw traffic moving on the 101 and made my way home. read more

Rooms were nice, no box spring so little hard but for the price it was ok, no wash rags, no bathroom condiments only 1 soap, no ice machine, men on Gradall constantly peering through your window but not their fault the hotel was under major const. Card swipe doors broken or just open to outsiders completly. Absolutely no management or control over facility!!!! A Sanora U16boys soccer group was aloud to run, scream, play soccer, bring girls up to their room all night till 11p. The hotel nor chapperones ever responded to the contstant rediculious loud banging, yelling, running, ball bouncing , door slamming noises. After, 2nd night of this at 10:30 at night decided to call police. They called hotel, asked them to respond to the complaint, then finally got quiet at 11p. Cancelled reservations for Friday night. Couldn't handle another night of this. they get one star simply because the rooms were nice. I want my money back!!!!. Will never stay there again!! read more
