We were traveling with a cranky cat and needed to stay in a pet-friendly motel on our journey. The Motel 6 in Santa Nella was the only option for us in our last leg of the trip, and I must say we were truly impressed. The staff at the front desk were friendly, courteous and professional. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable, the shower was perfect and the room was immaculate. Yes, it's a small room, but for one night it was perfect for us. I appreciated that it was close to a restaurant. There is no coffee in the lobby in the morning nor is there breakfast, but the price was very reasonable and we don't begrudge the motel for not giving us food or drink. Nice place! read more

I had spent a long day motoring from ParkerAZ-USA, and had descended into the Central Valley of California on 58/Keene. This is noteworthy because I had driven from a bright blue atmosphere into the dark/dank inversion layer that was blanketing the entire lower altitudes, hemmed in by the surrounding mountains. I was approaching the final leg of my route--152 to (Gilroy) to 101 to (Silicone Valley)--when I decided to refuel at the closest station, just up the road in Santa Nella. While refueling, I thought about the route, specifically 152, which is winding through mountains and has some narrow 2-lane sections; then there is 101, which is a very fast and can be congested road. I looked at the bright lights around me, the welcoming motels/eateries/overnighteries (which must be expensive), and wondering if it was worth it to do the final two hours in the VISIBILITY limiting inversion layer. No, my wife, son/DIL/grandchildren would understand, so I sought out the least expensive option, overnighting where the light is always on for me, Motel 6. I entered the office to meet friendly Liz, who did have a room available for a single male/non-smoking/no pet traveller. Seeing my stick, she queried me about needing a ground floor room, but I, fearful of a huge price tag, declared upstairs was OK. It turns out it was NOT OK. It was bloody cold; there were NO in-room controls to adjust temperatures, though I could turn the fan on or off. It's a good thing I had ample cold-weather clothing! The room had the usual amenities of TV-remote/mini-fridge/microwave and was kind of large. But the bed was terrible; way too soft and saggy! I was sure my back was going to suffer. I wished I had spent the extra bucks for the ground floor room! Other than receptionist Liz, I did not enjoy this overnight. If you stay here, do not take any rooms on the second floor, and I'm uncertain about the Ground floor rooms. Unfortunately, the ice machine was not working. read more

Stopped here after a long day in SF and didn't want to push it driving 3.5hrs home in LA. Chose this motel only because it was walking distance to In & Out. Of all the motels I've stayed at over 2 decades, I've never had a motel window broken and repaired with packing tape. Apparently corporate Motel 6 thought the broken window was only worth $12.53 which is what was refunded after I contacted them about. Granted I don't fault the people who work there. Not many opportunities in Santa Nella. But I do fault the owner and corporate. Have this location 2 stars because the food options are walking distance, which after a long day of driving is welcomed relief. read more

I've stayed in many motel 6 and this one was horrible. We checked in super late and were exhausted but if it was earlier I would've gone to another hotel (even if it meant i lost money). When we walked in, the room was 100000 degrees and AC did nothing. We didn't wanna sleep with the window open because there's no screen and someone could just hop right into our room. Bugs were EVERYWHERE (shower, floor, walls). I was so uncomfortable sleeping with this many bugs in a room. DONT STAY HERE. read more

This trip, we are staying in Handicap Accessible room 104. This room does not feel "upgraded" like the room in my original review. However I still give it 5 stars based on its price category because there isn't really anything that needs upgrading. This room is completely comfy, clean and I'd definitely stay here again. NOTE: The tub shower is not a roll in. It's a regular tub shower with a nice fold down bench. NOTE: the Handicapped rooms here ONLY have a FULL SIZE BED...not a queen. NOTE: this side of the hotel is not next to the freeway and yet I hear a lot of highway noise. I think it is because we are on a hallway that goes over to the freeway side. The good first - very clean room and reasonably priced. Now The Bad - when we got to our room, I tried to turn on the light switch, no lights... I had to turn the switch at each fixture. The room was right next to the freeway, so we heard heavy traffic all night long! Next we only got two small towels so I picked up the phone to call the office just to get a couple more... no phone working!! I had to put my clothes on and walk over to the office. No problem there. So I got ready to go to bed and found out that the mattress is thin and lumpy. Plus my wife and I got two pillows, not two pillows each, just two small pillows. read more

I would give this just an "ok" rating. It had just been renovated and everything was super clean. However, this is Covid time so I'm not sure what should have been there but wasn't. Most folks stop for location and price so I've got to keep that in mind. There was almost nothing in the lobby. Plexiglass separated customer from staff. There was also almost nothing in the room except for a bed, a chair, table and tv. We really don't like bedspreads on the bed because you never know when it was washed. A lightweight spread was immediately removed. Our room faced the freeway. It was really noisy. I would think they would give those out last. We probably wouldn't stay again but mainly because of the road noise. We did this time because we were traveling with a dog and know that Motel 6 allows pets. read more

Obviously this is a motel 6: no frills, no hair dryer, no shampoo. What there is: soap, clean towels, a heater (it was cold), renovated rooms, flat screen tv. We stopped after we decided we could drive no longer around 12 midnight. We had fast and easy check in within 5 minutes without a prior reservation. I'm cheap as hell, and prefer to sleep in my car or camp out whenever possible. But after exploring a nearby Superfund ghost town for my YouTube channel, I was filthy, potentially contaminated, and needed a hot shower! So I creaked open my wallet and stayed here. I paid something like $60 on a Friday night, and it was very clean, modern and pleasant for the price. No shampoo/toiletries or in-room coffee maker, but shower water pressure was good and water was hot, and bed was clean and comfy. When I went to check in, there was a guy in front of me who had left his Mac desktop monitor in his room when he checked out...which he'd only realized after he'd driven away. I don't know how far he got, but the staff at this Motel 6 held it safely at the front desk until he called, no doubt panicked, and came back to get it. Seeing that gave me a good impression of this place! I would definitely stay here again. read more

Moderately clean room. Does need an update. The screen on our window was bent, the control for the cooling and heating also bent coming off wall. Furniture was also peeling. Beds not that comfortable, but good for a stop and sleep at the last minute. Pool was closed because of health reasons which kinda was scary. read more

Before any one of you chastise me for giving a Motel 6 a four star rating, I want to say upfront, I rate places according to its peers -- i.e. budget motels in one category, high end restaurants in one category, hole in the wall places in its own category -- so for Motel 6, I am rating it in comparison to other budget accommodations. We broke up the drive to SF by stopping in Gustine and getting a room here at the Motel 6 out in the middle of nowhere. Surprisingly, the room was decent and large, clean and the beds had really firm (and new) mattresses! For less than $60, it was definitely a good bargain considering we usually stay at Best Westerns along I-5 which usually costs us over $100 usually and the rooms are smaller and not as clean and the beds not as firm. I think next time I will not overlook Motel 6 again after this incident! For a bargain hotel/motel, this particular location deserves 4 stars purely for what I got for my money and for the really nice guy, Nick, who was at the front desk at close to midnight and who managed to get my key and paperwork done in record speed so I could hit the pillow! On top of that I wanted a room on the ground floor because the young man was fast asleep and I knew it would be hard to get a half asleep kid up the stairs in the middle of the night. Nick complied and we were able to park right outside our room, thus causing little to no problems getting the kid from the back seat into the bed. If I could describe this place in one word--DISGUSTING, DIRTY, NASTY, OVERPRICED and LOUD all come to mind. Granted, I knew not to expect much from a Motel 6. When they say no frills, they mean literally none. Apparently a lock on the bathroom door or a closet is a luxury. However, I did expect a clean room. The first room we were given came complete with a toilet that had been used that wasn't flushed. Whoever cleaned it used the facilities and left--toilet paper and waste still in the commode. When we tried to flush it the toilet didn't work. Upon further inspection there were many dead bugs on the floor of the bathroom and the left side of the bed. They weren't ants, roaches or spiders, but at least 10 bugs were on the floor. There also wasn't a remote for our television. We asked for a new room and were given one right away, the counter person appalled at what we said was left behind. The second room was cleaner, but in the end we were pretty freaked out. I sprayed everything with Lysol and we checked the bed before getting in. There was a quarter sized burned out hole in the blanket, even though the room was non smoking. The water pressure dropped and turned cold in the shower when the sink was being used at the same time. We were given a handicap access room, but at five two and with all my capabilities, the bathtub was small for me. The motel itself is located right off the freeway by numerous fast food restaurants, a Denny's and gas stations. The nicest hotel nearby is a Best Western at Anderson's. If you're stranded or need a place to crash for a few hours like we were and need a cheap place, this is one of the only options. The Best Western was at least $30-40 more, but you get what you pay for. The room was small and there was a lot of outside noise. The freeway noise didn't bother me, but the people stomping and talking loudly all hours of the night did. You can hear every little thing going on outside, upstairs and next door. If you're a light or sensitive sleeper the highway noise will be a problem. I wouldn't come back and I wouldn't suggest stopping here unless you had no other option. We almost slept in our car that's how grossed out we were. For the same price I've stayed in better places, and the posted rate of $85 is an insult. In the future I'll either drive ahead a bit to get a better room or stay at the Best Western. Stay away unless it's an emergency! read more

I was here for a fairly busy weekend and it's nice to see they didn't hike up the prices for that weekend. The motel has quick access to the highway, and there are lots of options for food in this area (mostly fast food) but either way if you're traveling through the state this is a decently place to stop and get some rest for the night. read more

When using a Motel 6, you're looking not for a luxurious abode, but a place where you can squeeze in some sleep on a long drive. Our experience at this Motel 6 was brief, but excellent. When we checked in, we were greeted by the world's most pleasant, enthusiastic and friendly front desk clerk (Brenda) -- not just for a Motel 6, but EVER. Brenda was fast, and did a great job acquainting us with the hotel layout. The room was fairly spartan, which I expect. But the bathrooms were some seriously space-age design. The novelty alone was pretty fun! The heater was effective, but the fan was very loud and made it hard to sleep with it on. Fortunately we were able to turn it off once the room reached a desirable temperature. The beds were okay, pillows were nice. The waterproof mattress pad trapped heat, so I wouldn't turn the thermostat up too high unless you're ready to cook under the covers. Our checkout process was just as pleasant and quick. Overall, this is the best Motel 6 I have stayed at! Keep up the good work, everybody! read more

Was falling asleep so pulled over. Called around this was the most expensive motel in the hood so booked it assuming it was the best around. Nope. Broken shower head, broken faucet, some lights don't work, no blow dryer, giant spiderweb above curtains with bugs moving around, mattress felt like it was purchased at the 99 cent store. They only had smoking rooms left so all my clothes smells like cigs now. Two stars cause AC worked ( shocked to be honest ) and there was a parking spot. Oh no shampoo had to wash my hair with soap. I'm sure there are worse places to stay at I just never seen one. read more

Upon check in I noticed a hair on my pillow and was gonna take it off when I noticed there was more long hairs on it and turned the pillow over just to see more hairs . I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED THIS BAD AT ANY MOTEL! I called and made a reservation for a room at 1:25 on 8-15-2022 and I confirmed that I needed a downstairs room. At 1:35 I've on the same day I called the hotel back to confirm my reservation for the downstairs room and I was told they had one room available and I explained that I will not be there till 10 or 11 PM at night. My wife and I arrived at 10:30 at night and I could not find my AARP card so the gentleman behind the counter explained to me that because I can't find my AARP card he was canceling my reservation and in doing so now there is no room available for us downstairs. Because of the glass partition I couldn't hear a word he was saying so I raised my voice and then he accused me of Basically being belligerent and told me to get out and I was not allowed to stay there now, Then he explained to me that there was no more downstairs rooms available which included the one I had reserved, It got so bad I had to threaten to Sue them before he gave me my room Downstairs. I'm not expecting some 5 star place with lots of amenities, but I did expect a clean stocked room. Instead we had frozen grapes left in the freezer from prior guests, no trash bags in either trash can, no cups or ice bag for the ice bucket, no ice in the ice machine, a funky smelling room, and when we turned down the sheets - a popcorn kernel was found. Disgusting. I would never stay here again... and I would never recommend it. The Best Western up the road is a bit pricier and may have had dirty carpets, but at least the sheets were changed and the room was clean. read more

I've stayed at many, many Motel 6's earlier in my life. More recently in life, my job has privileged me with more upscale hotels / mostly Hilton properties. Long story short, I was recently put in a position where I needed to stay in Santa Nella for about five weeks. I've stayed at the other hotels the town has to offer - at the Pea Soup Best Western, Hotel Del Oro and at the old HI Express (now Quality Inn) - but because of how long I was staying and because it was out of my own pocket, I wanted to be economical and decided to go back to my hotel roots and try this Motel 6 out. Now, regarding the 5 stars - I give this a 5 stars in the context of what's being reviewed here. It's your standard, two story Motel 6 right on the side of a major interstate in a town predominately filled with truckers. When you start with that premise, this particular Motel 6 gets the five stars in my book. Like I said, I spent five weeks here. I paid half as much as I otherwise would have paid across the overpass at Best Western. And I was happy with my choice. The room, bare bones as Motel 6 rooms are, was consistently clean. My room got consistently serviced. Towels were consistently replaced and plentiful. Sheets were kept clean. TV worked and provided the basic channels. That's all I can ask for. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Early on in my stay, I decided to switch rooms after I figured out I'd rather stay on the back corner / second floor of the property right off the highway. I made the tactical decision it's better to listen to the white noise of highway traffic than the chatter and pool noise elsewhere on the property. And second level meant nobody stomping on top of me. The front desk accommodated me with no problem and kept me there for the rest of my stay. If you have to stay here, location wise it's in a decent spot for food options. Pea Soup is right over the overpass and it's always a good meal. You've also got Denny's, In-and-Out, Mcdonalds, Panda Express and a pizza place in easy walking distance just past the Motel. There's also a newly reopened restaurant/bar inside Hotel Del Oro that's worth checking out as well. Anyway - if you're stuck in Santa Nella overnight and looking for a less expensive option that you won't be miserable with, I think this will be a solid option for you. Give it a shot. read more

I & my husband had to stay in the area for a couple of weeks and we needed pet friendly, economy accommodations so we booked at this Motel 6. The manager, Andy, and the office staff were wonderful and very patient as our oversized, 6 month old puppy quickly learned how to open the door and kept escaping. The maintenance person, Dee, was quick and amazingly courteous when looking after any complaint. I also noticed that the staff here took the time and went way out of the ordinary to help the local homeless population around the hotel, with rooms or allowing them to use the laundry facilities or getting water or ice, etc. The motel is clean, well cared for and the staff has the heart of angels, not often found in the world today. I will stay there again and again just on the merit of the staff. read more

Ok so the only reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because.... the front desk staff, her name was Dee was very nice, the non smoking room was most likely not smoked in or at least not enough times to really notice and I have a good nose, and the heater worked too good. This room and I imagine others have cockroaches! I saw a pretty decent one on the floor right after we got all our stuff brought into the room, honestly just chummed it up to a bug that was let in or came in while we had the door open while we were bringing our stuff in and letting our dog go potty, (this was at 1am) I stepped on it and went on my way to getting ready for bed. My son woke up at like 6am to go to the bathroom and came out to tell me there were ants on the wall, I didn't think much of it. I went into the bathroom and there were little ones on the counter and in the sink maybe 5. And then while I tried to hurry and pack everything up there was a big one running across the top of the tv! I am so incredibly grossed out! I had 3 children with me one being just shy of 6 months old! I scared now they are in my stuff and were crawling on us while sleeping!!!!! read more

They tried to make a dump into a respectable place and I'd rather have to stay in a dump. I'm paying the extra twenty next time to stay at the quality inn up the street. Really, it's a motel 6, I wasn't expecting much, but I like that I can buy beer next door and there's a Denny's out my window because I'm a late night guy.... They scanned my ID before they could tell me if there was a vacancy!!! ICE???? Trump was on the TV when I walked into the room. And they ran my card before giving me a rate. I think I might sleep in my car next time than be tracked like I'm a fugitive or something. In that, I'm not a fugitive. I don't want to be tracked either though. The pool was closed by the health department, so if you put all of this together, maybe I should sleep in my car next time instead. Go up the street. read more

Nice! Totally service dog approved. If you wanna park your Tesla at the local Zagat resort with chargers for your blinged out bourgeoisie-mobile, obviously go to Pea Soup for a few hundred bucks. If, on the other hand, you want a top-of-the-line example of a Motel 6, here's the place. Great room, great shower with high faucet (I'm over 6'0 with a bad back), great access for the disabled; great unenclosed grassy area for my service dog who hates filthy dirt enclosures, and a nice pool if you are not just a passer-by. Best yet, on a pretty busy night they have a pretty awesome room rate. And, excellent, kind respectful staff. Clean. Newly renovated. New stop for me. Bravo! read more

This was last summer June 2012....and I forgot to write my review. The hotel room was tight and felt used and dated. No one bit by anything. But it had that feeling that you might be. We had to stop couldn't drive any more. This was the last room left and the noise from the highway was unbelievable. I felt like I was still driving. There were people arguing on the walk way around the corner from us at 3AM. I won't ever stay here again. Felt unsafe and dirty. Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the highway is so so so much better and not that much more. We stayed there this time and appreciated it greatly (clean, quiet, and breakfast included). As far as motel 6 goes... This is on the higher end of things. It was clean and safe. That's all I cared about at 3am when I was looking for a spot to sleep. On this trip I stayed in a MUCH worse motel 6 in Texas... One that doesn't show up on Yelp. This one was great in comparison. read more
