I recently stopped here for the night while travelling from Texas to San Francisco. I chose Simi Valley because I wanted to wake up early the next morning and go to the Ronald Regan Presidential Library. This Motel 6 was nice enough. It was clean and well kept. The price was a little more expensive because of the location but it wasn't too bad. The location doesn't have much going on and I couldn't find any open restaurants after 10pm except for some fast food.

Bedbugs at the Simi Valley Motel 6 (and/or fleas as the manager suggested to make me feel better)
    Bronek W.

Welcome to the Motel 6 Simi Valley - Stay where the bedbugs stay. Beware, you get what you pay for. My family had Covid and I had to stay at multiple hotels in Simi valley. First the place looks old and poorly maintained. I drove past people drinking beer in the parking lot at 10pm and figured I was only here one night and maybe saving a little money. Walking around the hotel and up the stairs everything is so dirty. In the room they've drilled large holes through the floor and wall what looks like a long time ago. But the dust around the hole drilled on the floor never got vacuumed or cleaned up. I figure so was just there to spend the night so I went to bed. Later, I woke up in the middle of the night with my neck itching badly and big welts on my neck forehead, feet and calves. Then when I turned on the lights I saw the signature bloodstains on my pillow and sheets from the bedbug bites. I told the front desk person and she did nothing but tell me to take a card and that I "can tell her what I think". I called the manager later and she apologized and that they would have to investigate. After awhile of talking about the way it was handled, she offered a $20 refund. She said they would have check it out and see what they find. But she said "we have fleas too so...". Just the thing you want to hear from a hotel manager, right? I guess that was supposed to make me feel better? The motel 6 was the least expensive option in Simi. But the sad part, was that the Motel 6 was only $15 cheaper than the nearby Grand Vista hotel (which I had stayed at the night before). The grand vista is much much better for the small price difference. You get a bigger room with a fridge and microwave, and it solder but maintained far better. Plus I didn't get bitten by bedbugs at the grand vista. For $15 more you can avoid this disgusting dump of a motel and not get bitten by bedbugs... Or fleas.

This place is completely disgusting. When I came into my room it was super humid and smelled like mold and mildew. Checked out the bed there was animal hair all over it- there was makeup on the other side of the pillow when I flipped it. Good thing I brought my own pillow and blanket and steamed the bedding..... Looked underneath the bed and there were beer/bottle caps so obviously the room was not even clean. Walk into the bathroom - the floor is lifted and there's black mold along the tub. There was a hole in the door. This place is legit garbage and super sketchy. Never again. Just wanted to get out of this place ASAP. 10/10 would NOT recommend. You guys should take a little more consideration into the cleanliness of the room because wtf this is NOT okay for the safety of anyone.

Stayed here 2 weeks ago last minute and the hotel has beds bugs. I paid $140 for the room which it definitely wasn't worth it. I definitely do not recommend staying here and I will be attempting to get a refund. Go elsewhere.

Marks all over the bathroom door.

My family, along with the other families we traveled with, left this hotel feeling extremely uncomfortable, disappointed, and completely unsatisfied. From check-in all the way through check-out, we were made to feel like we were a burden rather than paying guests. I honestly cannot believe that a property in the hospitality industry allows its employees to treat paying customers this way. The front desk experience was awful. With the exception of one woman who was darker-skinned with dark hair, the majority of the front desk staff we encountered were incredibly rude and unwelcoming. There were eye rolls and attitudes when we requested things that we needed, and rather than having them brought to our room, we actually walked downstairs ourselves to pick them up. The complete lack of basic courtesy and hospitality was shocking. The experience at the grill started out completely differently. We were a group of about 14 people, and initially we were having a GREAT time. The bartender who was working that evening, a gentleman with what sounded like an English accent, was exceptional. He was friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, that changed quickly. We were sitting outside on the patio with the door open so we could hear the music from inside. A woman came over and started aggressively slamming the door shut. We would get up and open it again, and she would come back and slam it shut. This happened multiple times. Instead of simply communicating with us like an adult and saying, "Hey, I'm really hot. Would you mind keeping the door closed?", she became extremely confrontational. Eventually, she started yelling at us, singling me out and calling me a bitch, even though I had not gotten up from my seat, had not said anything to her, and had not personally confronted her at all. Someone from my group finally explained that we simply wanted the door open so we could hear the music. Again, rather than having a reasonable conversation, she continued to escalate the situation and started yelling that she worked at the bar, even though she was apparently off at the time, and that we had to close the door. At that point, it wasn't even about the door anymore. It was about how aggressively and disrespectfully we were being treated. And this is where I was especially disappointed in the staff. Peyton, the bartender working at the time, shame on you. We asked for the woman's name and were not given it. We asked to speak with a manager and were told there was no manager available to speak with us. Instead of making us, as paying customers, feel heard and respected, it felt like the staff was more interested in protecting their employee than addressing the way we were being treated. We were not asking for special treatment. We were asking for basic respect and customer service. Then came the situation that honestly broke my heart as a mother. My 4-year-old son was excited about getting the free breakfast. We went downstairs around 8:55 AM, and my little boy simply wanted one waffle. There was still a waffle sitting out, and he wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. He just wanted one waffle. Instead, one of the continental breakfast employees yelled at him. My son immediately started tearing up. He's FOUR years old. I looked at him and told him, "It's okay. Let's just go buy you something somewhere else." That moment really summed up this entire stay for me. We were paying customers. We were there with our families trying to enjoy ourselves, make memories, eat breakfast, and have a good time. Instead, my family and I repeatedly felt like we were unwanted, inconveniencing the staff, and being treated as though we didn't deserve basic courtesy. I cannot adequately explain how upsetting and embarrassing it was to watch my young child become upset over something as simple as wanting a waffle at breakfast. Hospitality should make guests feel welcomed. This property made us feel the exact opposite. We spent our money here. We chose this hotel. We brought our families here expecting to have a fun and comfortable stay. Instead, we left feeling angry, embarrassed, disappointed, and honestly just emotionally exhausted from having to deal with unnecessary hostility from the people who were supposed to be providing customer service. What should have been a fun family trip turned into an experience that we will unfortunately remember for all the wrong reasons. What a miserable and disappointing experience. I sincerely hope management takes this review seriously, because no paying customer -- and especially no child -- should be made to feel the way we were made to feel during this stay. We deserved better.

However, my experience took a very concerning turn when I was suddenly locked out of my room. When I went to the front desk for assistance, I was told--very loudly and in front of other guests--that I had an outstanding balance. This was both shocking and embarrassing, especially because the hotel was already holding $2,685.00 on my credit card. Despite this, I was required to make an additional payment of $1,400.00, even though I had only stayed four nights at that point. The following day, I was locked out again and told there was still a balance and that the hotel had been attempting to contact me. I later discovered they had been calling the wrong phone number. As a loyal Hilton Honors member who travels frequently and has stayed with Hilton properties many times, I found the way this situation was handled extremely unprofessional and humiliating. I am currently disputing the charges, as the hotel held $2,685.00 and I was later charged an additional $2,700.00, which appeared excessive and was never clearly explained. In addition to the billing issues, the condition of the room was disappointing. The property was dated and not well maintained, and we experienced ongoing plumbing problems, including toilets that would not flush due to apparent sewer line issues. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution when booking this property. What should have been a routine extended stay became an unnecessarily stressful and embarrassing situation that has significantly impacted my confidence in staying with Hilton in the future.

What followed was one of the most humiliating, discriminatory, and dehumanizing experiences of my life. A payment miscommunication arose: front desk staff (Melony and Rozanne) had told me I could only pay at the front desk, but when the time came, there was a dispute. I pleaded with them from my room -- I could barely stand, let alone walk -- and explained my condition clearly. They refused to accommodate me. The manager, Jazlynne, then demanded I come to the front desk myself, which required me to painfully walk past roughly twenty doors down the hallway on broken limbs. I made that agonizing trip. And I was still denied service. What happened next was beyond unprofessional -- Jazlynne verbally assaulted me, yelled, made racially charged remarks, and unleashed a barrage of extreme obscenities at me. She then locked herself in her office and called the police. I -- a disabled person, barely able to move -- was effectively evicted on the spot. My belongings were already moved in. I had to pack everything up myself, call an Uber, and scramble to find alternate accommodations that weren't even set up yet. I then spent three months attempting to file a complaint with the corporate office. I called once a week. Every single time, I was the one reaching out -- they never once called me back, despite repeatedly assuring me they would. I was told my complaint had been "escalated" three times. Eventually, I was told coldly and without explanation that "management will no longer be doing business with me." When I pressed the employee further, it became clear the complaint had never actually been escalated at all. They strung me along for three months, ignored me, and quietly dropped my complaint. This hotel discriminated against a disabled person in crisis, subjected me to racial abuse, physically forced me out, and then covered it up at the corporate level. Zero stars if I could. Do not stay here.
