So there were good things and bad. The service was amazing. The front counter associates especially John, and the associates in the breakfast area were amazing and super helpful! The views were also amazing. The room and halls need updating. They look very old and you can't even tell if the carpet is dirty because of how dark it is. Chipped paint, some broken furniture. The pool is not heated and apparently while we were there the hot tub really wasn't either. It was pretty like warm. The beds are very firm. Came here for the night. Desk attendant was not readily available, but still friendly. The rooms have an outdated look to them with old carpeting and the AC/heater was noisy. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were lumpy. The bathroom has a bathtub but the plug didn't work well so in order to take a bath you had to continuously fill the tub, which is not good for water conservation. They do offer food, but a lot of it is heavily processed. If you need to just stay for the night on your way to another location, then that would seem to be a viable option. read more

I should have not relied on the reviews for this hotel on Priceline and Booking.com This place is TERRIBLE. The bathroom smelled like moldy towels, the beds are extremely uncomfortable. The pillows are painful! And worst of all- the walls are paper thin. We could hear the people next door to us laughing and talking loudly into the crack of dawn. My daughter and I stayed at this hotel last year in May. This May we also booked a room for three days. However this year, I found the room VERY lacking in Cleanliness! There was food smeared in two places on the front of the microwave, as well as on the inside door window. The desk chair covering had a few stains on it...yuk. Put a pillow case over that to sit on it. There were also little piles of dirt in half the draws. While the bathroom looked clean, it seemed very obvious that the shower metal features had old soap scum on them. Gross. I doubt the shower tub was even cleaned! And there was built up soap scrum on the wall soap holder. All the light switches had black dirt on, under and behind them. The toilet paper holders also had spots on them, like they don't get cleaned and shined. I am a professional house cleaner and I know built up dirt when I see it. There was a letter on the desk by the CEO, Tim Lewis, telling us how they are making an extra effort to make sure their rooms are nice and clean. That made me LOL! After sending Mr. Lewis an email and also leaving a voice mail message, I got No reply at all. So, because of that I am now writing this review of my visit here for others to see! Came back from the beach on our 3rd day staying here and we didn't have any hot water to shower with before we had to leave for dinner. Tried calling the front desk to see what happened, they cut me off before I could even explain it and just told me they were working on it. I tried speaking with whoever worked the front desk around 5pm and probably had the worst hospitality experience in my life. Rude, unprofessional, couldn't help me at all and just told me to call the district manager on Monday because she clearly didn't want to or knew how to do her job. I was just looking for some kind of hospitality considering we were inconvenienced without a pretty important amenity that we were paying for. I don't even know how they kept their kitchen and bar open without hot water, but it goes to show how much they care for paying guests. The hotel itself is ok. Nothing fancy about the lobby or the rooms. The toilets in the rooms flush weird like there's not enough water pressure in the pipes. The hallways usually smell like weed. But this place for me, unfortunately falls short in the staff. I have never had such poor experiences with front desk staff as I have at this hotel. It's usually the same suspects...the whole staff is not terrible. Management can be a bit on the snooty and bitchy side depending what you're up there talking to them about. It gives "I'm better than you" vibes big time. So be prepared for that. I've found that whoever works at night tends to be a lot more pleasant to deal with overall. There's a woman who, when my family went downstairs for breakfast, was always blowing her nose around the food. And tying her she's on the tables. I stayed at this hotel on several occasions. From what I understand, they're going through a remodel, which they desperately need. Sticky floors, inconsistent hotel water, and for the first time since I've been coming here, I feel like every move I made, every word I said, I felt like I was being watched. If you like the smell of pot, alcohol and dirty diapers, then this is the place for you. Trash piles up in the halls, crazy people wandering the premises aimlessly outside at all hours, day and night and the staff all seem paranoid about losing their jobs. They charged about $189-$250 a night but the rooms look like a $70 a night rooms. Very inadequate. Basically it's a motel 6 2.0. They constantly run out of towels and wash cloths which feel like sandpaper and housekeeping is only once a week. Gross!!! I was going to have a wedding party there but I found the Best Western, Marriott or Holliday Inn seemed to be a much better option. I don't feel safe at night, even if I'm with my friends. I needed a nearby getaway where it would be a bit warmer than Santa Barbara. I usually go north but it's cold! So I went to Simi which was an easy drive from home. The hotel was clean and the grounds were really beautiful. The pool was cold yet refreshing and the jacuzzi was perfect. They offered a complimentary 2:00 pm early check-in which was greatly appreciated! I had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and the portions were huge, and it was delicious. We stayed here three nights, and LOVED IT!!!. I would stay here again as I found the property to be extremely clean, and quiet with a nice shaded pool and spa area. However, be aware that on the weekend, folks use this place as a venue to get together with friends and family so the pool area is going to get busy and loud with happy people and children! I've now taken the time to read the other reviews and can only conclude that the poor reviews were written by folks who are disgruntled personally with the management. While, I'm not favorably impressed that management has not "claimed" this establishment on Yelp, this is a decent business hotel. It's somewhat utilitarian. The art prints in the rooms don't make me mad. However, they are firmly attached to the wall and not hung straight! This is a small point but it does demonstrate the lack of attention to details. There is a comfortable sitting area with coffee table in the room and good lighting. The bathroom has upgraded tile and a safety bar in tub area. There are coin operated laundry facilities on-site. Improvements that would make this place special: 1. Don't charge $16/day for parking in a parking lot that is not full nor is gated! 2. Remove all carpeting in the rooms and replace with tile or laminate flooring. 3. Human beings need to be able to open the windows and failing that, have whisper-quiet a/c units. 4. Ergonomic office chair. 5. Wall-mounted large TV with streaming capability or at the very least TVs with streaming capability. 6. Dry bar cabinet to hold coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. 7. Modern USB outlets on table lamps and available on both sides of the bed. 8. Nightlight in bathroom. 9. Retractable clothesline over tub area. 10. Hand-held shower head. 11. It would be so great if all hotel rooms had Toto Washlet toilet seats and Fabric/Air Febreze like the Japanese. 12. Green refillable wall-mounted hand soap and body lotion at sink instead of wasteful tiny soap. 13. Green refillable wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in shower area. 14. Filtered cold and hot water dispensers in ice machine area so that single use plastic bottles are not used. 15. Heated pool! 16. Actual beach towels instead of room bath towels. I can't speak to service as we stayed 3 nights but didn't have housekeeping services. However. every time we ran into Housekeeping staff, they were super friendly. The security guards kept regular watch on the poolside activity, but were not jerks. Again, I found the property clean and pleasant but lacking touches that would make it awesome. I stayed at this hotel on a few occasions. I used to occasionally bring my family but I won't anymore, unless things change. There's a person, I won't call her a "lady" that likes to put her hands in her pants. Only a couple occasions, she made sensually suggestive gestures around my twelve year old son. He looks like he could be eighteen because he's built like a football player. She wanders the parking lot at all hours, and I mean ALL hours of the day. Including the morning I left to drive home at three thirty in the morning. I've seen her conversing with herself and nobody else was around. She must either be friends with the managers or owners...or something else, because this has been going on every time I've visited for a few years now. I even spoke to a lady at the hotel bar who said that this person actually flashed her and this lady told me that when she reported it, nothing was done. They wouldn't even file the complaint. I heard someone call the disgusting person Kristina or Kristine, so I'm assuming that's her name. She looks about fifty. I always see her in the same clothes. I have stayed at this hotel several times. Yes, they charge a parking fee and a deposit. All hotels charge a deposit so it is fine. I like staying here though because the staff is friendly and rooms are fairly nice! I usually go with the rate package which includes a cocktail voucher and a voucher for the continental breakfast. I enjoy the this hotel because the staff makes it feel very homey. I have checked other hotels and motels and the times I have stayed I have found the price to be even cheaper than Motel 6. Terrible! First and foremost, I do not appreciate being lied to. The day before my arrival I called to confirm and to make sure my early check in was set. The front desk said all was good, but for early check in there would be an additional fee. I questioned why I had not known about this before. I also asked if it could be waived. They said no so I asked to speak to a manager. The assistant manager got on the phone and I told him I had booked this a while back and wanted to know why I was not informed of this additional fee? He then proceeded to tell me that he had a note that stated on a certain date I had spoken to his manager where they told me about the fee. I quickly told him that was an untruth. This was the first time I had spoken to anyone from their company. He then tried to lie again and said, "I thought you said you booked this a while back?" I said, "Yes, I did book it sometime ago through Booking.com, but nice try." The assistant manager lied and that is unacceptable. They did not waive the fee and I had to rearrange my schedule. Next, when I get there I go to pay my bill and they tell me a different amount than Booking.com told me. So, I ask what happened and they explain that there is a $15 parking fee. When the reservation was made, the continental breakfast was included with the $700+/ 5 night fare I had paid.  Upon going to the restaurant, they asked me to give them a ticket for the breakfast. Ok... No problem... Went to the front desk, and asked for a ticket. The woman behind the counter and manager were both illogical and refused to provide me with the breakfast ticket I had paid for. Then they had the audacity to say that I had to pay an extra $15 per day for this. They tried to utilize technical language, to come up with answers such as "we have been having problems with the restaurant", etc. I knew they were all lying right through their teeth, in front of me. Any other place would have been more accommodating and more logical about the situation. I saw people getting continental breakfast cards handed right to them, as they passed the front desk. The agents didn't even look up their info. This infuriated me even more. Since they have decided to string me along with their bullshit, I'll reveal some ugly discoveries in my room...  My room's bathroom had a cigarette odor entrapped in it. I don't smoke, and had no idea where the scent was coming from. I had to prop the door with a garbage can to allow the AC to get rid of it. There was mold buildup on the bathroom ceiling, due to moisture and the door closing automatically. A shower tile was literally ready to fall out, with the press of one finger. The towels and bedding are as cheap as you can imagine.  I read other negative reviews about this place, and agree with the obvious ones. This place needs a MAJOR management and staff change. It also needs some renovations. I'm a carpenter, and can easily point things out. There is no way I'm coming back here again. They just want more money, and will do anything to get it. My advice for you, would be to book your stay ELSEWHERE. I am being VERY GENEROUS, by giving them 2 stars! read more

Old hotel with paper thin walls. Arrived and checked in at 4pm and could hear the tv of the guest sharing the wall like it was in my room. Then, I was woken up at 4am by the guests directly above my room getting it on. Sounded like they were about to fall through the ceiling and their squeaking bed reminded me of that lil scrappy song (ifykyk). The shower was also exceptionally cramped and water temp was inconsistent. The only thing that was adequate was the staff as they were nice at check-in. Only stayed here because we were under mandatory evacuation during the many fires in LA and this was one of the few that had vacancies. After paying online we were told we'd have to pay more for parking (which wasn't even in a gated area for safety so what was the additional fee for?). Asked the guy at the front desk if that could be waved as a bit of sympathy for some stressed out guests that may be losing everything. Nope. His only reply, "Oh, what fire are you effected by?" Awful customer service to the many people checking in obviously stressed out at this time. Wonder how much they are overcharging the state for all the firefighters staying there? Fairly priced clean safe room near 118 freeway- very affordable walking distance to the mall

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Vista hotel on Christmas day 2023. This was the 3rd or 4th time we stayed here throughout the years, so my expectations were not high. The hotel location is conveniently located to the places we visit in town. This stay (which will be my final stay ever at this property) was the straw that broke the camel's back. The hotel is an aging property (built in 1988) that has not been maintained or upgraded (last renovation 2004) over the years. The TV in the room looks like is about 24" and seems the size of a computer monitor. The room refrigerator is so noisy, I had to disconnect it to get any sleep. The furniture is old and spongy, and the bed was soft and unsupportive. The linen did appear clean, however. The soap in the bathroom was about the size of a credit card and barely 1/4" thick. The bath towels and washcloths were rough and worn, and the bathmat was so small and thin, it was useless. The water pressure and temperature were good, but the toilet could barely flush. The room floor was sloped -- which is something I had never seen in a hotel room before -- and I have travelled extensively (US, Canada, The Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and The Middle East) in the past 40+ years. There was also a constant dripping noise that was coming from the A/C unit from the room above. To make matters worse, the Grand View now charges $14.00 to park in their parking lot. Parking has been free at this hotel for 20+ years. This "new" fee is not mentioned anywhere on their website. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel. There are much better hotel choices in Simi Valley and surrounding areas. read more

Have you ever seen Hot Tub Time Machine? In the movie a group of guys go back in time to 1986. That's how it felt staying at Grand Vista Hotel. It's permanently 1980 in this hotel, from the decor, furniture, restrooms, everything. How fitting that Simi Valley is famous for the Ronald Reagan Museum, since the Grand Vista Hotel's heyday was probably during Ronald Reagan's presidency. That being said I'll make it simple by listing the good and the bad. Good: The staff were all friendly and wore their masks despite the fact that people in SoCal seem not to for the most part. My room was clean despite it looking older. It's nice that these old school rooms have a nice sized refrigerator and microwave. Also the air conditioning worked great. The bed was comfortable. The room is spacious. So there are a lot of good qualities to mention. Bad: The smell in the hallways was strange. The carpet has seen much better days, this carpet is old enough to have seen Michael J Fox playing Marty McFly in Back to the Future at the movie theaters. Grand Vista will only clean guests rooms every third nights stay upon request. Just my opinion but to me a hotel should provide room cleaning daily, if I wanted to not get maid service or clean towels, I'd get an Airbnb. They still leave water bottles in the room so that they can charge an exorbitant price for them if you drink it. That's so 2000 and late. Stop with that, if you have a mini market downstairs, if your guests want some water, they can buy it in the lobby. The most egregious part to me is that while most hotels put a hold on your credit card as a deposit, at this hotel they actually charge $100 on your card that requires them to refund it. Too many mistakes happen with charging and refunding rather than just putting a hold. Also they ask for $150 deposit in cash if you don't have a credit card that's returned when checking out. Where am I?! Compton?! Who does that? I'm not gonna tell them how to run their hotel but their deposit situation makes them look ghetto. All this being said, I think it's a decent hotel. For absolutely no reason whatsoever, management will arbitrarily not let you book here. Maybe they don't like your attitude. Maybe they don't like your clothes. Maybe they don't like your breath. Maybe they don't like the fact that you're kind and and have tipped ... over tipped... the entire staff, including management, and have never done anything wrong. You've engaged in no violations, left the room immaculate, didn't disturb anyone, didn't make noise, and left pre-checkout. Yet still, you are no longer allowed to endure the rancid odor, the rickety elevator in which you risk your life, the uneven floor work upon which you're likely to trip, the ridiculous pool which is smaller than your Mom's, the non existent room service except for a pizza plus ranch, followed by a vomit session. And let's not talk about the noise outside your door, the stomping, the loud voices through thin walls. Fortunately there are many other places to stay instead. Including under the overpass. I've reported the code violations to code enforcement and have reported the kitchen and the residence to the health department. My room was prepaid for as part of a wedding package deal. When I checked out, the girl said I was charged wrong and took money out of my deposit. WTH? The only thing I could see was that I was charged $14 instead of $16 for parking but more than $2 was taken off my deposit. Was not explained about what I was undercharged for either. If i was charged wrong, it wasn't my fault and should not be taken out of my deposit. We didn't take anything from the room like the $2.50 water or anything. Shady. Buyers Beware! Be careful booking with the Grand Vista Hotel. The phone number (833) 414-7562, which appears to be the Grand Vista's number later turned out to be Priceline, according to the hotel. I was charged $257.19 for a two-night stay. I was planning to visit my elderly sister who has a potentially fatal disease. Unfortunately a health setback which could have proven fatal to my sister necessitated that I cancel the holiday plans. When I called the above number to cancel, a robot answers and repeatedly states that my answers were inaudible. Then I was disconnected. The Grand Vista states that this is an outside agency and that the Grand Vista takes no accountability. I wonder why the Grand Vista takes money from disreputable companies. read more

This hotel is very outdated. We stayed in a king suite and the bathroom smelled like sewage. The walls are paper thin and we could hear a baby crying several times in the middle of the night. The whole hotel reeks of pot. This place needs a full renovation. Side note : The Arena night club attached is filthy with a very seedy clientele . It's obviously been taken over by locals. Very disappointed with our recent stay. Took about 25 min to check in due to long line and only one person at desk. He was actually very friendly and did attempt to get through line fast! Finally arrived to our room pulled back comforter and to our horror and disgust it had blood all over it! I took pic, immediately went down to show them and was given new room and offered a $4 drink coupon or "cold breakfast" they stressed "cold" side only! I guess it wasn't bad enough to give me the waffles They charged for parking which I thought was a little strange and shower had NO pressure!! 11am Checkout and nice Clerk checking in is why I'm giving 2 stars not 1. read more
