Yes, this hotel was more than I wanted to pay for a stay, but it didn't disappoint either…read more We were hoping for a hotel near restaurants, and this didn't fit that bill, but there is a restaurant with a bar on site. We didn't eat, but had some drinks in the bar and the bartender was attentive and a nice conversationalist. It wasn't as bright in there as some hotel bars, but it did feel a bit like a hotel bar. The hotel is dog friendly, which we needed, and the parking lot was huge which made for ample walking space with grass nearby and multiple pet stations which were stocked with bags. The grounds were well kept and the flowering plants were a nice touch. The location of the hotel definitely seemed like a safe area. The tub and shower in our room almost looked like they had never been used and we had no complaints with our room. The hot water thermos provided for tea in the lobby tasted like old coffee but they had a coffee machine that they showed us how to use for hot water and that worked well. All in all one of the best stays on my 12 day trip!

At that time, I specifically mentioned that I had placed the "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door and expressed my hope that it would be respected, as I would not be returning until later that evening due to scheduled meetings. When I returned to my room at approximately 8:45 PM, I was shocked and disturbed to discover that the room had clearly been entered despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign being displayed. The condition of the room was completely different from how I left it: The lights and lamps were turned on, although I left them off. The window shades were fully opened. The bathroom light was on. My clothing bag had been moved from the table to the chair. The nightstand and desk drawers were left opened. The bed cover that I intentionally placed on the floor had been put back onto the bed. I had to go to the front desk, request NEW BEDDING, place the Sheets and all on myself due to the Bed Cover being placed back on the bed which was on the floor! Personal bathroom items had clearly been moved or touched. This situation is extremely disturbing and unacceptable. A guest's privacy, personal belongings, and explicit request not to be disturbed should be respected at all times. To return to a room that had been altered in so many ways without authorization left me feeling uncomfortable and violated. Very disappointed with Charlotte-Burke-Thompson (Front office Manager) and Maguette Loechner (General Manager). This will never be a stay for me ever again, even if it means going to a Marriott Property or others!

There was ample parking available, and the lobby restaurant was adorable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only minor issue was some chipping on the bed's headboard. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

The hallways and the room itself had a strong smell of bleach. I appreciate having a clean and disinfected room but this was a LOT of bleach. Our room was also showing signs of age: mold on the caulk ring around the tub spout; one upholstered headboard had what I can only describe as claw marks; and there was a line on one wall running along the ceiling that probably wasn't mold, but looked too much like mold not to resolve. There were also two hairs on the shower enclosure by the shampoo dispenser etc. Noise was tolerable. Occasionally car or motorcycle noise was quite loud. The usual children running in the hallway at 9am. Didn't hear anything from adjacent rooms other than door slamming, but we did have white noise playing pretty loudly. There was a wedding so I have to guess that we were far away from the guests. You have your choice of paid valet parking or Self parking in the back. We chose self parking. There aren't a ton of spots so I don't know what happens if they are full. Your room key gives you access to a rear entrance from the parking lot. There's a sign--we found the door, but the door itself was not clearly marked. It also lets you into a stairwell that feels slightly sketch. If I were a single woman I might feel uncomfortable using it. Perhaps a silly point but I hate that they pipe in music in front of the inn. It feels so cheap to me and so unnecessary. Just a pet peeve. In conclusion, I would avoid coming back. This feels like a place where standards and maintenance are starting to slip.

The hotel is conveniently located a block or so from campus off Chapel St and is centrally located, very walker friendly. Check-in is at 3pm but we actually arrived into town a few hours early due to snow where we were at. I believe you have to do valet when you stay here, so we just pulled up to the designated area on the curb. Check-in process was straightforward, our room was ready, provided all the particulars and we were on our way. They do give you info on the morning coffee, amenities, etc. Room was pretty nice and boutique-y, nice snow capped campus view, our bed was a Queen but it was pretty big. Shower was nice, sink area was good, nicer towels and great body wash/shampoo. Wish the electric plugs were positioned differently, wifi was strong, overall the room was fine, nice design and furniture. We didn't have any issues with noise or ac/heat. No small fridge. Coffee is complimentary downstairs in the morning, there is a little market you can buy stuff too. If not, a few doors down, there's a great little coffee cafe. Hotel has a restaurant but we didn't try it. There's a small gym on the 2nd floor(looks like an hotel room they converted into a gym), complimentary bottled water if you need to grab a few for your room. Location is great, we walked everywhere, campus is only a few mins away, plenty of restaurants around, easy to get back onto the highway when we headed back to the airport. Staff at check-in was nice, informative and helpful. Check-out, not much discussion with the front desk guy, he just said we were good to go and emailed me the receipt when we turned in the keys. 5 mins before you head to check-out, call the valet and they will pull your car around and have it ready on the curb for you with friendly departures.

There are shelves of books in the lobby and one of the upgraded rooms offers a specially curated book collection. Promotional items include book marks and graph paper. There was ample street parking on but we opted for the valet parking, under the building, for $32 plus tip. The desk clerks and valets were prompt, polite, and went out of their way to be helpful. We checked out early and left our luggage with the desk clerks while we visited The Peabody Museum and had lunch. We enjoyed the walk to The Peabody Museum, which was a little less than a mile, and included passing the Yale Museum of Art, crossing the green, and the New Haven Museum. The room was clean, and I believe we had a "city view" room which was comprised of the top of one building, a parking garage, and some other buildings. Not great, but definitely a city view. We didn't have a chance to try the hotel restaurant or bar. In the morning they offer coffee and tea in the lobby but we didn't have a chance to try it either. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would stay there again.

We were disappointed by the lack of service / desire for guests to have a good experience. Upon checking in at around 8:30pm we were looking forward to having a drink and maybe dessert. The website says that restaurant & bar are open until 9 weekdays and 10pm on Saturday. We were told that the bar & restaurant in lobby looked like it wanted to close and in fact we're closing. We were given the option to leave our bags at desk and go over. Not have bags brought to room, not to get settled & come back down. When we got to the floor we were staying on there was a cool enclosed rooftop bar. My daughter asked how late they would be open and was told "we just closed". When she asked what the hours were they just said well it is slow so we closed. A city hotel, holiday weekend one would expect an option to settle in a nice space and relax without heading out. I think we would be more likely to try the graduate hotel during our next trip to New Haven. A little customer service goes a long way.
