For years, this was just the big brutalist building in the IKEA parking lot, but they've put so much work into making this a gorgeous hotel with comfortable amenities and retro design. The switches to manipulate the blinds were cool and I liked that there were different settings for different times of day. I appreciated the abundant free parking as well. This seemed to be a pretty busy conference / corporate hotel which is not surprising but we definitely didn't feel like an afterthought. The staff were friendly and checked in throughout our stay. I also loved the commitment to sustainability throughout the hotel (e.g., reusable bottles, wooden reusable key cards, energy efficient lighting).

I was supposed to be here for work for 2 weeks - I got a fabulous rate and it was going to be about the same as an AirBnB (but as "a Hilton", it sounded nicer). But I could not unpack in this room - and I had no breathing room. So I arranged to check out after 5 nights and move to a more spacious hotel. --Also: coffee in the room? Instant. But there was no room really for a coffee pot, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I would still give 4 stars with those caveats - except that sometimes the rate here is $400. I want to make sure people know what they would be getting for that! I slept really well and it was easy to get to meetings - but if I'd known, I would have stayed elsewhere for that amount. I was grateful to get to switch to the Blake later in the week, which was a lot roomier and modern. Hope that's helpful to anyone deciding where to stay!!

At this point, we had already unpacked and we were staying for a week so we decided just to stay in the room with no TV. They offered us one free breakfast for the inconvenience. Since the breakfast there is not free. I went to use our free coupon for the breakfast and we were limited with the choices if we had a coupon. If we were just out right paying for breakfast, there were more options but not for the free breakfast with the ticket that we got for the inconvenience. There is no microwave in the room. The bathroom and coffee bar area are very small. Our last night there the AC kept switching itself over to heat. The maintenance guy came and tried to fix it, but he could not. So at that point we had to pack everything up and move to another room at like 1 o'clock in the morning.

The donuts and muffins for breakfast we're not very good. The taco bar was delicious we got burgers hot dogs and a small buffet of chicken corn and coleslaw and potato salad they still have the ice cream truck where you can get unlimited ice cream and cotton candy and popcorn which are my favorite parts of Holiday Hill they have paddle boats and kayaks two pools those changing rooms need to be updated as well. There's a bunch of abandoned buildings on property that I believe used to have something to do with a camp. They have a lot of sport activities like ping Pong volleyball basketball tennis and mini golf. One of the mini golf holes is clogged and doesn't let the ball go through into the other spot like it's supposed to. It's nice for an outing but it definitely needs a lot of updates.

My husband and I decided to get in the car in PA and just scoot up the coast on our way to Boston. We decided to take our first pit stop here in New Haven because we thought it would be fun to check out Yale, and it was already dark when we got into town. I'm sure you found very quickly that hotels more in town are $250-$300, so this hotel coming in around $120 (after taxes and fees) was what we were looking for when really we just needed a bed and shower. Staff- we didn't come across an angry/unpleasant soul while we were here. In fact, I give them props as they were fielding calls left and right because their satellite cable was out due to a crazy thunderstorm (I'm talking multiple emergency alerts blasting from our phones), and they were always nice, calm, and apologetic. Rooms- when you walk into the lobby you get a little sneak peak at what your room is going to expect all over the hotel. The carpet is extremely dated, stained, pieced together, or buckling almost everywhere. But again, I had some level of expectation for this at this price. I was pleasantly surprised getting into my room. Sheets were clean and nicely done up. Towels seemed clean and arranged nicely. Could the room and bathroom use a solid make-over, sure. But I slept well and the water pressure was very nice. No bugs. No left over hair from previous guests. There was a desk, microwaves, and fridge in the room had we needed it. Our room looked out over the water, but with that came a highway (picture included). Again, very pleasantly surprised that we didn't hear the traffic at all. Bonuses - they have a FREE shuttle to the surrounding areas which is really nice since it seemed parking could be a bit of an issue. Looked like it was just all metered parking, so I imagine that can get expensive quickly. - they have FREE breakfast. Granted your looking at your standard carb breakfast, but who can resist a hotel waffle...not this girl. - they had a pool and workout center (like three pieces of machinery, nothing crazy). - connected to a restaurant that seemed like they had pretty decent happy hour food and drink deals. - literally right next to Ikea (picture included). All in all- if you're just looking for a quick stop over while traveling through, I'd say go for it. If you're looking for a luxurious hotel to pamper yourself in...maybe keep looking.

Pet-friendly options in the area were limited, which is the only reason we chose this property -- and I regret it. Problems started immediately. Only one elevator was working for the entire building, which meant long waits with luggage, kids, and a dog. The room itself was worse: urine all over the bathroom, black mold growing on the AC unit, and a pull-out couch that is effectively decorative -- it can't fully extend in a room with two beds, so the advertised sleeping space doesn't actually exist. We couldn't get the issues resolved with housekeeping directly, so we had to haul everyone back downstairs to the front desk. They asked us to leave the room while it was re-cleaned, so we went to dinner and hoped the rest of the stay would go smoother. It didn't. The next morning around 9am, we stepped out of the room and the door locked behind us -- our keys no longer worked, with all of our belongings still inside. Managing a lockout with three kids and a puppy, funneling everyone through a single working elevator, was genuinely stressful. When I asked a maintenance worker in the elevator for help, he told me it wasn't his problem -- and then called me a bitch. A hotel employee, on the clock, cursing at a guest who asked for help. The front desk was the final straw. Instead of apologizing or resolving the lockout, they were indifferent and took the employee's side. We had a reservation here for our return trip and have already cancelled it. If you're traveling with kids or pets and need a reliable overnight stop, look elsewhere. I would avoid this hotel at all costs.

What a wonderful experience! Our family stayed here at Christmas time, and we felt wonderfully taken care of. The accommodations, decor, and cleanliness were perfect. Rinal, the owner, was beyond pleasant from our initial phone call through our departure. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and to fulfill every request we had. In the middle of our stay, we came back to the room to find a gift and a note from her that said, "I just wanted to thank you for choosing the Carriage House this holiday season. Staying here was a disaster. The owner is the one who helps you in his jeans and baseball cap. The rooms are ok recently remodeled so they said looks like used furniture but the heat was horrible, HE brought in a space heater to get the room warm enough to stay and that was barely enough. Half the hotel looks old and run down, It looks like a half way house. There was a man hanging out his door in a chair smoking all nite,people walking dogs and bringing in groceries I think people live here. We had a fantastic time at the Carriage House. Renal and Michelle (owner and clerk/housekeeper) were so friendly, welcoming, and considerate (called us in advance to make sure they had all our booking details right, were there to welcome us when we arrived, gushed over our toddler, gave us great restaurant recommendations...) The outside is still being renovated but the rooms are beautiful, spotless, and quiet. We had a great time and would definitely go back if we are ever in the New Haven area. read more

We stayed over the holidays and the Carriage House was wonderful. It was an old motel that they have been renovating and our room was great! We had Aveda toiletries in the bathroom, perfect mattress, great bedding, nice towels, very clean and the owner is wonderful. The hotel is conveniently located a block or so from campus off Chapel St and is centrally located, very walker friendly. Check-in is at 3pm but we actually arrived into town a few hours early due to snow where we were at. I believe you have to do valet when you stay here, so we just pulled up to the designated area on the curb. Check-in process was straightforward, our room was ready, provided all the particulars and we were on our way. They do give you info on the morning coffee, amenities, etc. Room was pretty nice and boutique-y, nice snow capped campus view, our bed was a Queen but it was pretty big. Shower was nice, sink area was good, nicer towels and great body wash/shampoo. Wish the electric plugs were positioned differently, wifi was strong, overall the room was fine, nice design and furniture. We didn't have any issues with noise or ac/heat. No small fridge. Coffee is complimentary downstairs in the morning, there is a little market you can buy stuff too. If not, a few doors down, there's a great little coffee cafe. Hotel has a restaurant but we didn't try it. There's a small gym on the 2nd floor(looks like an hotel room they converted into a gym), complimentary bottled water if you need to grab a few for your room. Location is great, we walked everywhere, campus is only a few mins away, plenty of restaurants around, easy to get back onto the highway when we headed back to the airport. Staff at check-in was nice, informative and helpful. Check-out, not much discussion with the front desk guy, he just said we were good to go and emailed me the receipt when we turned in the keys. 5 mins before you head to check-out, call the valet and they will pull your car around and have it ready on the curb for you with friendly departures.

More to the point, I chose Clinton Motel since it was walkable to a town, albeit a super-small one, that has scenic areas and 1700s houses. And if you don't know about Lobster Landing, now you do (about 1.5 miles from here).

The result here is a full-to-brimming hotel, which makes the thin walls and echoey hallways especially problematic. Without the mobs and their noise, this is a fairly standard no-frills hotel. I've seen complaints about the Wi-Fi here, though it's working just fine for us. Repeatedly having to click "I Agree" gets tiresome after a while, but for free Wi-Fi, it's doing the trick. The hotel gets three stars instead of two, though, on the strength of this morning's breakfast-room staffer, who quietly navigated the overstuffed space, dodging slow-moving elderly guests and fast-moving children (and their bouncing rubber balls), efficiently stocking and restocking the muffins and bananas and waffle-maker supplies. She rocks.

Ask to stay in the Stars Hollow room. The manager is super friendly and helpful and the staff are as well. If you need a little respite, this is a great place to stay. The coffee was great and by the way, did I mention breakfast, wow!

We had a room that had a second room with two twin beds, great for a family. Town of New Milford is beautiful with a great Town Square walking distance. We had a wonderful Greek Dinner nearby called Greca five minutes away.

As fate would have it one afternoon I ended up at the Quality Inn up the road where the deems…read moreattendant was extremely rude so I ventured on foot and stumbled upon this place. Rating is higher as the price to value ratio I found extrremely favorable.. nightly aNd weEkly rates, motel set in back of the office and adjoining package store. There were some long term residents whom were very friendly. The room lacked anything besides a bed and desk but that was fine for me as my expectations were low. Following day needed to head out and manager assisted getting me a ride to the train station which was very hospitable and much appreciated. For the customer service and friendliness of other guests I can overlook the grounds which at the time could have been more attended to and the Shower that took a little longer than long to heat up. WoUld stay again ........ FYI not a family friendly establishment ie don't bring children
