    Baby roach

The place is nasty I was I could post the video of the baby roaches in the sink when I turned on the lights

Tobacco ash, and wet tobacco wraps

This hotel was so bad that we reported it to the BBB. Just don't stay here seriously, bring your money elsewhere. They don't deserve your money. And they need to restaff all of the front desk people, they are beyond rude also don't know anything at all and got a BAD entitlement attitude for working at a motel 6. I was locked out of my room one time in the negative weather n they didn't have a back up key (when they are suppose to have 3) as well as told me "you are fucked." not joking. They seriously told me that.... As a hotel... as a business... (that is suppose to have access to all the rooms).. in negative degree weather. PLEASE don't stay here. ***Especially during winter.*****

I cannot believe the Village of Villa Park allows this business to represent them. The unsavory characters, who were downright scary hanging in the lobby. Ice machines not working on either floor. No mini fridge or microwave. The fan on the air conditioner not working, it was 85 degrees outside. The buildings seem to be falling apart. We were told the pool was there, just covered up. By dirt! Obviously they do not care who rents the rooms or what is going on in them. A disgrace to the Village. We stayed there because it was pet friendly. We were in town for a funeral.

First I would say that if you book a room and make it in time this motel is a solid 2.5 star place. Surprisingly quiet and maybe cleaner then you might expect. Possibly even worth 3 stars tbh. That of course was not the case for me. [story time] I called ahead of time and asked if it would be okay if I checked in late (my flight wasn't getting in until 11 or so). They told me it wouldn't be a problem. Evidently my flight got delayed and I ended up arriving closer to 2 AM. Understandably later then the time we discussed. That being said when I arrived there was no room to be had. At first the employee at the desk told me I missed the check in and that was it. I asked if they had another room and he said no they were sold out. My (much more aggressive) friend then came in and repeated what I had told him. At this point his tone had changed and he found me a room for the night. Originally I had paid $69 for the room through Hotels.com, at the desk i paid $100 for a room with a smaller bed. But again, understandably. The real issue began with the question of a refund. At first it seemed impossible. Then his tone changed. He explained "since you did not stay in the room, you will not be charged for it, that amount will be refunded to you. I cannot do it now because you booked through hotels.com, but they can handle it for you." I then slept in the uncomfortable double sized bed and the next morning went on with my life. A few weeks later I noticed no refund ever came. I contacted Hotels.com and requested a refund. After about a week they told me they couldn't issue it because of the hotels cancellation policy. I then contacted the hotel, they told me if I didn't stay in the room then my card should be refunded. I repeated this cycle for another 2 weeks getting the same response from both sides over and over. Finally a hotels.com representative was able to contact the general manager of this establishment. Who then informed him that it was "an error on the front desk mans part" that I should have been refunded. And I was finally given my refund. TLDR Essentially, they were trying to profit from rebooking my room without properly canceling the original reservation . So making around $170 off of a room worth far far less. If I hadn't argued in person, then argued over phone and email, I would never have gotten this refund. Who's to say they don't do this every time an "automatic refund" is supposed to happen?

We got to the hotel at approx 8pm from a long drive and were eager for the jacuzzi. As soon as we checked in, all the common areas are packed and I mean packed with people! There seems to be a family reunion going on. We checked out the pool...it was PACKED with kids jumping in and out of the pool! even the jacuzzi was filled with kids and a handful of adults. So we skipped! We just decided to chill in our room. We asked for extra pillows for the sofa bed. They were out! Not a single extra pillow!!! Not only was that frustrating, there were kids running around the hallway yelling at 2-4am (kids running both days Saturday and Sunday at these times) and the room next to us must've had so many people in the room slamming doors and arguing at 2-4am as well!!! We couldn't understand where are the adults of these children just running in the hallway between 2-4 am! I swear never again to come here! The guests just blew our minds. Etiquette do not exist. Front desk/concierge were no help either.

Room has old furnishings, dark wood. Hotel itself mostly looks old. Bathroom had dirty caulking and cracks. Slow drain. 3 sinks total in the room, which was helpful. Quick response to requests from housekeeping. Evening welcome event included- nightly I believe but didn't get to attend. Hot breakfast too. A wristband (for each person) and a dining card have to be presented (these were given to us during check-in). Smooth on our first morning; questioned more about the card and bands our 2nd morning. Omelettes were made-to-order and cooked just right. Best part of breakfast for me. In another area, employees man the hot food. Other sections were self-serve.

The last time we came, they took great pains to help us get a (very hard) reservation at the student-run restaurant in the same building. They are also very knowledgeable about the area. The really good breakfasts are served at whatever time you want, either directly to your room or in the very nice lounge right next to the rooms. Unfortunately, my arrival at the hotel was a bit rocky due to a delay of more than four hours in my flight, and I did not arrive at the hotel until approximately 1:30 am. Fortunately, I was able to quickly complete the checkin process, and my room was available upon arrival, which was a huge win after what had been a very long travel day! The remainder of my stay was fantastic. The hotel was extremely quiet during the entire week of my stay, and that helped get a lot of rest after the long days I experienced at the workshop. My room had a fantastic layout, with a separate sitting area that contained furniture, a small refrigerator, and an office desk, perfect for doing some work in the evenings and early mornings! The bedroom had window door style that allowed you to have your own private space, and there was also direct access to the bathroom from the bedroom. Complimentary breakfasts were served at the hotel each morning, which was a big plus for me during a very busy week! There were many different items to choose from, including scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, bread which you could toast, bagels, and a waffle machine. I enjoyed having many choices, and it was nice to be able to quickly pick something to take with me as I headed out for the day. The breakfast area was large, and there was always plenty of space to sit and eat. One of the most enjoyable things about the week was on Wednesday when the hotel held a complimentary happy hour for its guests. They provided a wide range of foods to enjoy, including salads, soups, and desserts such as brownies! This was wonderful for the hotel to host and it gave me a wonderful opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat for dinner on Wednesday! One of the other highlights of the stay that I thought was particularly beneficial was the shuttle service. The hotel offered transportation to and from the workshop location each day, which made getting around very easy and worry free! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downers Grove Chicago. The quiet rooms, the comfortable design of the room, the excellent quality of the breakfast, and all of the thoughtful extras, such as the happy hour and the shuttle service, made the entire experience truly amazing! I will be returning to the same hotel anytime I have business in the Chicago or Lombard areas again!

Absolutely horrible experience, the front desk man last name tate didn't catch the first name blatantly violated ADA accessibility laws, What makes the entire situation worse is that I was not even staying in the hotel! I have a service dog, the father of my daughter was staying at this location for work, I arrived to drop off my daughter for a visit as well as some groceries and cake as it was his birthday. Literally as soon as we arrived to drop off, this man came up to the room not only pounding on the door but literally screaming at me to get my dog out. I explained that this is my legally allowed service dog and that I would not be staying as I was simply dropping things off, he then pushed his way into the room still screaming in front of my young daughter and scaring my service dog to under the bed shaking. He proceeded to say that her father would now be put on the do not rent list and would need to leave the next day but my service dog needed to leave immediately, instead of staying my daughters father said we would just all leave now so we began to gather belongings and the groceries I had just arrived with. The desk man "Tate" attempted to insist I leave WITHOUT my belongings and remove my service dog. He then threatened to call police to which I responded "please do because you are violating the ADA" and I continued to gather belongings. He obviously did not call the police. Shocker. At this point several other hotel guests were lingering in the hallway because of the scene. He stood holding the door open and repeated "get the dog out get the dog out over and over until we had packed the entire room up. This man is clearly not only unstable and on some kind of bizarre power trip but also just flat out awful and unpleasant not to mention blatantly disregarding the FEDERAL LAWS and ADA protecting service animals and their handlers rights. This chain needs to fire this man immediately and do better. If you are disabled or handicapped in any way stay FAR away from this place! The Downers Grove location is MUCH better. Cleaner, better staff and doesn't violate the ADA.

The breakfast changes slightly day to day, but it includes meal options for just about every palette. The rooms are pretty spacious and they are kept in a clean condition. Here are the negative points about this hotel. First, none of the rooms have a microwave. Everyone, is expected to share the microwave that is in the cafeteria area. Not only is it an inconvenience iff you have to warm up food, but not everyone will clean up after themselves. Far too often the microwave was filthy. Second, the customer service was not always friendly or professional. One hotel worker in particular was often extremely rude with customers over the phone and in person. Comments like; " I don't care if you're checking out early", or "I'm sorry but we will not be cleaning your room" should not be a part of anyone shop is supposed to be in the customer service/ hospitality industry. Lastly, the rolling blackouts. On several occasions during our stay the hotel lost power temporarily. This may have been attributed to the heavy thunderstorms we experienced in Illinois, but too often the lights would go out and then come back on a few minutes later. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, but it could have been better. The beds are comfortable enough for a good nights sleep and the hotel is affordable compared to other hotels in the area.
