The place was clean ac blows cold air but BEWARE THEY SECRETLY RECORD YOU AND LISTEN TO YOUR CONVERSATIONS I STAYED HERE WITH MY 14 yr old daughter on June 6-7 and we woke up to hearing loud snoring which sounded like it was coming from some sort of device because we were the only ones in that particular set up and the lady told me in the front office I took the last room so the loud snoring sounds started around 5 am I finally realized what I was hearing when my daughter got up and said " do you hear that " by now this is 6 am so we both got up and tried following the sounds looked outside nothing , no one , we thought maybe it was next door but there was no one in the unit low and behold we go by the ac turn it in and the noise stops what I think happened is the owners or whoever planted the device must have pressed a button to which we could hear them and forgot to turn it off because as soon as they heard or seen us looking for the device they immediately woke up and must have turned the button or device off because it went silent , I recorded it as well when I expressed this to the front office the young girl tried to act shocked and said " oh wow that's so weird" and she asks if I could send her the recording I said absolutely not but I will play it for you , she listened to it and said "wow yeah that's weird" she told me she could give me 20$ cash and to dispute it with my bank and gave me and my daughter 2 free waters big whoop I will be filing a police report because again this is invasion of privacy also the person who I believe was heard snoring was a man maybe a male worker or something but I did not see any men working so maybe it was the dad/brother since I know this seems to be a family owned business this is very frightening since my 15 yr old was with me and lord knows what all they captured is why a police report will definitely be filed . read more

*We checked in at 2am, in the morning at 10am the Indian guy wake me up knocking on the door for room service. I said we just checked in the morning 2am I didn't ask for room service. *then he offered the clean towels and ask for dirty one but we didn't even used any towels yet. *There is no sign for do not disturb like other hotel/motel. *Ac was making very loud noise the whole night didn't figure out until next day the ac filter is full of dust like half inch thick probably didn't clean since they installed the AC. *The table and nightstand was full of dust. *Since we arrived at 2am parking was full so they told us we can park in front of the office. *bed frame is bigger than the mattress so every time we get up we hit the bed frame. This is a fantastic find. A lovely little motel. with very clean rooms and a quiet environment. And the most reasonable price you will find in the San Diego area. It's an independent hotel, which I think is great, and the owners and staff are super friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay here again. My foundation that helps the homeless paid for a homeless young girl and her dog over the phone. We were given a price for 3 nights. We requested a receipt and never received one. When we got the bank statement, we had been over charged. I called twice and emailed the manager Patel. No response back. Milan whom I spoke with said she would call me back and again, she did not respond back. This is a business that over charges for the homeless or anyone for that matter, and does not return phone calls or emails. It is very unprofessional. Just Believe Foundation helps with getting people into a dry and warm place especially during the raining season. We will not be doing business at this hotel no longer. I suggest when paying with a credit card that you check your statement for additional charges. No call back from Patel to discuss why they charged the account more. I went here because the reviews said clean, easy, great service. None of those things were true. The tv in our room didn't work, we called and they couldn't fix it, the WiFi didn't work, it was a cell phone dead zone. They have very bright hallway light and NO BLACK OUT CURTAINS - it was like daytime at night in that room. The ac vents were dirty and the pillows were tiny and poor quality. It looks nice in the pictures- but I would avoid this place if you want basic amenities and a good night sleep. read more

It is a lovely place. Obviously set up for business. But very comfortable for just a vacation. Appears family friendly. My room was very large and sparkling clean. The decor is fairly updated. I sold shutters for 10+ years and this place had pretty decent shutters! . That's always a good sign - quality window treatments in a motel. I was really impressed. I'm not a big fancy hotel guy - I usually just stay at Motel 6 - so I'm not an expert, but this place seemed to do all the little things right: - nice and easy check in; friendly staff, no hassle parking, a little off the beaten path in a semi-private area, lots of outlets, fridge, microwave, good water pressure, and it was $75 a night on a Sunday and Monday. (I think it's $110 on a Saturday) It's 30 miles from Petco Park and downtown San Diego so to me that's not far at all. I will definitely be making this my San Diego motel when I'm in town. read more

Everyone here was super nice, but they said there was free parking, but almost every night all the spots were full, each room should have their own spot or something so that doesn't happen. The AC is super loud in the room, and there's construction right next to the motel right now, so it's a quite loud stay. And some lights in the room didn't turn on. read more

4 stars for what I paid. This is not a "resort fees" type of accommodations. There was a tournament in the area and Motel Mediteran was one of the closest. It's a small hotel run by a small crew. We had 7 hockey families book with us and we got the pool area to ourselves for the kids to play & the adults to relax. Pizza Time delivered to the pool & it was one of the best I've had in awhile; in SD, OC and LA(!) I digress. 4 stars for the bathroom being clean, the pool being clean, hot water flowing immediately, & the A/C dropping to a nice chill to cozy down & sleep in. Two of the families had some hiccups; but maintenance came quickly to fix a broken pipe in one of the rooms as well as fix the broken drawers. I imagine in a larger scale hotel, those rooms might not have been booked immediately back to back. For twice the price and a few miles more out, there's a handful of mainstream hotel chains for those who cannot live without their amenities. It was a fun experience overall to pick a smaller hotel & keep our group more intimate. I would book again if we had a large group. read more

This motel is a must stay! THe check in process was simple and very friendly. The first impression of the hotel from when I pulled up was great, landscaped nice, new and well maintained. The room i received was on the 2nd floor and although there wasn't an elevator it was well worth the stair climb to get there. My room is over the top perfect if I could give 6 stars I would. The new remodel is amazing they didn't skimp on anything. The bed is comfortable and the bedding is modern and high-end. Paint in room is professional, fresh and the mural above the king bed is perfect and makes you feel like you are truly on vacation. The bathroom is completely remodeled as well and offers a bath and shower which is a bonus because so many hotels that remodel get rid of the bathtub and personally there is nothing better then a relaxing soak after a long day. The water pressure is super strong and the water stays hot forever. This king room has everything that will keep me coming back to stay when I'm in town. They offer a pool which I haven't checked out yet but it looks just as lovely as everything else. Overall I must say this motel that's rated 2 is more like a 3 star hotel and worth booking I'm 100% satisfied.​ read more

I been coming to this hotel for several years. I believe since 2016. Always book through Priceline app and never issues. Rooms very clean.. new furniture.. usually tv works. I checked in last week on Wednesday. I was asked if I would by myself or have a guest. I said I would be alone . Then was told absolutely no guest! I tell people to rent here because it is nice and usually laid back . I had been at local burger bar next door enjoying some drinks and food. A friend of mine needed to talk to me over girl problems and said cruz over . I have had guests about every stay weather I checked in with them or invited them later on . It has been never a problem . I receive 3 calls saying no guest and explaining they are needing to vent and get advice . Each time threatening to hold my 100 dollar security deposit. I never damage a room for any reason . I even clean up after myself and throw trash away and room is clean. I think it's not a good reason to hold a 100 deposit over a visitor and room was only 71. Unless that 100 ends up back in my account I will make sure to never bring my business to this place and never recommend it to anyone that doubted this place before. I never been to motels nice as this with issues like not allowed to have one. Return my 100 or I keep it as 1 star it so deserves. read more

We have family who live in the area and have now stayed at the Motel Mediteran enough times that I've lost count. The motel itself isn't anything fancy, but it is clean, in a safe area, convenient to local amenities and we have always had pleasant and kind intersections with the people who work there. AND if that's not enough reason to stay here, it is a fantastic price. Motel Mediteran is a short drive from the San Diego Wild Animal Park, wineries and a fantastic donut shop (I just threw in the donut shop because it was that great). If you are looking for a place to stay that is clean, safe and won't break your budget, Motel Mediteran is the place for you. read more

This is review how rude is the customer service at Motel Mediteran. I had an issue and needed to cancel my reservation. I made the reservation with a third party company and the company said I needed approval from the motel to issue a refund. We called the motel within hours of making the reservation. They said they have a strict 48hr cancellation policy and couldn't help us. The front desk lady who is also a co-owner says that the third party company is a multi million dollar company and I should get my refund from them. The lady kept hanging up on me every time I called and was very rude. Motel mediteran took my money without providing any service. Not recommending this hotel if you are looking for a pleasant customer service experience. read more

First off, to the lady who checked me in, you were great. Friendly, great conversationalist, and positive attitude. I have nothing bad to say about you. The business can definitely benefit from hiring more people like you. Aside from that, the place is fine for a night's stay. I thought the amenities were fine, bathrooms were well stocked and cleaned, and my room was decent. The low rating was due to the bad service I got from the night auditor, or whoever talked to me on the phone at night. I asked for a toothbrush, they said they had none. Inconvenient but it was fine, not a big deal. I asked him to help me with the heater because it wasn't working. He just kept repeating to put it on heat mode and set the temperature higher even though I told him repeatedly I already tried but the temp isn't changing. His response was "usually that works" and then dead silence until I said "so...you're not going to do anything then I take it?" To which he said there's nothing he can do. He made it pretty clear he didn't want to be bothered. So basically heater was broken, front desk refused to do anything and gave bad service (couldn't even offer extra blankets at the very least). I would have loved to leave a better review with more positive things to say, but sadly there's nothing I can do. read more

Stood here for a friends bday. It was just a bed to sleep in. When we first arrived I felt like the AC wasn't working properly. My husband said I should wait and see until we get back at night and if it didn't work, ask for a room change. Well, it's was an ice box when we got back! Loved that! It was so damn hot and humid out during the day. I needed a cool room. Room had a mini fridge and microwave so we liked that for our food. The area does seem kind of sketchy. There's a bar right next to us that played very loud music. Tons of people coming and going too. Men were trying to get rooms after hours but they were full. Parking is very tuff here. We had to park on the street. I didn't care for that at all. There's a liquor store across the street so you can only imagine the type of people that swing thru. Like I said, sketchy area but got the job done. Clean room with no issues. Pool is near the street area, horrible set up. Manager that was there was low key rude and abrupt. read more

You are not allowed to have any guests for any reason - I couldn't even spend time with my grand daughter there - they lecture you when you check in like they're your grandparents - the rooms are nice so all the 5 star reviews must be from people who aren't in town to visit family because you're not allowed to have anyone come to your room EVEN to pick you up!!!! Seriously! It's weird! I'm a 60 year old grandmother so it was just weird - PS - they also kept telling me it was a non smoking room even when I told them repeatedly that I don't smoke. This hotel was booked by me last minute on priceline. It was fairly clean and staff were ok except having to wait until 6 pm for towls because we were styaing over after lecturing us for requesting no service the day before. I booked this on the freeway at the last minute. There was some kind of glitch that booked 2 trips. One was my legal name and one my nickname which is just 2 letters less than my legal. All the info otherwise was identical. I was unaware of two reservations until.I got home. When I ccalled about a refund I was told because the names were different they would be keeping the money for all 3 nights of the double booking. I don't for a minute think thwy kept the second room vacant or that they weren't smart enough to look at the computer and see the duplicate. I would have put up with paying for the first night and been unhappy but all 3 nights is ridiculous. Priceline stepped up for the refund. But I'd think twice before staying at a place with no scruples. read more

First of all, we arrived pretty late (maybe around 10 p.m.). There were zero parking spots. In fact, even the area in front of the lobby had cars parked there! We had to park across the street in the dirt, which isn't really a big deal to me. The door to the office was already locked. I thought we missed check-in, but thankfully someone came and opened the door for us. The lady who checked us in was incredibly friendly and helpful. Five stars for her kindness and service. She let us know of local attractions and the hours for breakfast. When we got to our room, one bed was missing half the linens. But at this point, we didn't care because it was late and they were pretty much closed. We were tired from driving 10+ hours that day. Then, when we sat down to eat, the desk drawer kept popping open. I kept shutting it, but then I looked down. There were fingernail clippings in the drawer!! Gross!!! Okay. Granted, this is NOT the motel's fault...kind of. I don't know if looking in a desk drawer is part of the responsibility or not, but that's gross. Shame on whoever left those there. You're a gross human being. Again, it was late, and I wasn't sleeping in the drawer, so I moved spots and let it go. I did let the office person know in the morning about the linens and clippings so they can fix it for the next guest. Other than that, it was an okay experience. read more

Surprisingly this motel was a lot more pleasant than I expected. Definitely better than a Motel 6! My husband found online for $85 a night (a Saturday night). We planned to spend the following day at Sea World but didn't want to pay a lot of money on a hotel close to the park. It was maybe a 20 minute drive. Not a bad drive really. Pros: clean, simple, free continental breakfast, table, mini fridge, and microwave in rooms. Premises look clean and well kept. No parking fee! Cons: Key card didn't work, had to go back to front desk. Pillows were too thick. My neck felt so strained from sleeping on a pillow that was too elevated , woke up with a neck strain. TV didn't work, such a bummer, wanted to watch the World Cup. The front doors faces the next room's front door. A solid 3.5 stars really. Would recommend for those looking for a inexpensive but a clean economy motel. read more

It's taken me a while to process and decide if I wanted to write this review. I'm torn because the manager offered a sincere apology. However, the rude lady that checked me in and their policy has not changed. When I checked in, I was told I had to leave $150. CASH deposit for my 2-night stay and they WILL and NO EXCEPTION be cleaning my room. This was never discussed or mentioned when I called the day prior to confirm my reservations and spoken with a man that worked there! I'm thinking this was racial profiling. I've never pulled out the Race Card before, HOWEVER, complete strangers, that was checking in after me, overheard the "rules" (who are all white), were not given that same rule of $150. cash deposit. I met them the next day at my work event and they recognized me and told me that it was not their expereince of these rules. I've never had this happen to me before and didn't know how to process it. I prayed about it and I was glad to see that the rude woman wasn't at the front desk, but the manager was. I calmly expressed my heart and she apologized for her worker/relative's behavior, but not for having to check/clean my room, daily. I must say it was clean room. But, I felt I did not need anything since my stay was brief. In fact, I'm a clean freak, and I Lysol and Clorox the whole room before and after.
