Mothers is an excellent dive bar. The beer is cold and the local conversation is friendly. Although this is a, "Biker Bar" all are welcome just leave the attitude at the door and you will have a great time. This is a BEER and WINE only bar with a very small selection of ciders. Mother's has got to be the best sanctuary for those of us not so impressed by the usual pretentious O.C. bar crowd. The place really is a shanty that appears to be held together by the pictures and various things stapled to the wall. There's bras hanging from the ceiling sand all over the floor. The crowd seems to be a mix of local beach bums and bikers but all are friendly. read more

If you're into old local perverts and a bar that makes you feel like you got drugged and were tricked into doing a porno, then this is for you. Some jokes aside, there are SOME decent locals that hang out here, the beer out of mason jars is nice, and sure the music is good, but unfortunately for me and my friends (both guys and girls) some of the regulars who walk here from their shanties on the green belt absolutely ruined it for us all. It's a good thing that you WANT your bar to be attractive for bikers, etc. otherwise there's no way in hell this place would last long. read more

Management is completely incompetent. I drove an hour and a half to see one of my favorite bands play, and they were yelled at in front of the whole bar by the manager because she dropped the ball on letting them know there could be no drums on week nights. The band never once raised their voices, nor did they cause a scene. But the manager made sure everyone in the bar heard what was happening. The band walked, I turned around and went home. Waste of time, waste of gas. Do yourself a favor and find another bar. There are plenty in the area. read more

I'm a local and sometimes I feel like I need a trip to Mother's. If you're adventurous, you MUST have a pickled egg! Beer/wine only so don't expect a martini. They've got a fun jukebox and if you're lucky the bartender will give you money to put in it! It is a biker bar and sometimes it gets WAY too crowded. They have live bands play a lot, which I don't really enjoy, but when it's slow and I can play music, drink beer, laugh with friends, and eat pickled eggs-- I LOVE IT. read more

I went to this Bar for the first time yesterday for a Fundraiser (Seal Beach schooting) and the staff was so nice and will be back.

I haven't been here in years and it was possibly even more awesome than I remembered. The bartender (wish I had gotten her name!) was SO nice and welcoming. We felt very at home as if we were Sunset locals. It's cleaner than it used to be but it's still got that friendly dive bar vibe. Highly recommend stopping by for a beer and then a quick visit to the beach right behind it. Parking is always easy so no excuses -- GO!! read more

I like the joint. Been going there off and on since '95, back when Tina owned it and Jake was her on-call bartender. Funky place, good beer, great jukebox, no patrons with bad attitudes. Place hasn't changed enough for me to notice; still a great vibe from the locals, sometimes the flip-flop crowd, sometimes the bikers, the type of place where the people become characters in "lost generation" novels. Age isn't an issue; all are welcome as long as you're mellow. I think my pic's still on the wall next to my Florida Gators license plate. If it is, tell the barkeep you know me and to put your beer on my tab. LOL. Dress code: totally casual. Bathrooms: functional. Parking: in front or nearby. Prices: fair, pay as you go. I am very happy with this establishment, they have great live bands. I heard one last Sunday and I will be there for one tomorrow. Please ignore the negative comment below as it is out of context. There was some miscommunication and due to it being a weekday and hours of limitation for loud music, the drummer could not be used. Great place with people lotsa fun bikers and an awesome rock blues band Lazy Brad Lewis who has played and recorded with many bands including Brother Weasel, Nob Holl Billys and others this place just rocks and the licks coming out of this singer guitarist make it excellent !!!!! read more
