Stopped in with my wife as we were visiting SoCal and staying at the weapon station. Most times I would say change is inevitable; however, time seems to have stood still here at Dave's over the last 20+ years! Nothing wrong with that. A solid place where you can go in and see the memories on the wall while seeing who might've recently passed away on the dead wall. This is a little dive bar you might miss if driving too fast on Pacific Coast Highway. The atmosphere and vibe is very friendly. You can tell, by the way customers knew each other's name that this where the locals hang out. There are plenty of TVs for watching sports and a pool table for your entertainment. Hubbs and I bike here from our place in HB as often as we can. The vibe is always chill, locals always friendly, peanuts always salty, beer always cold, bartenders always friendly and engaging. My man and I wanted to watch UFC fights AND play pool on a Saturday night which I knew was a big ask but we took our chances. We drove past this bar as we've done a million times and saw that it was calm. We went in and Brigette was bartending. Great local spot closes early, not quite a dive but perfect if you're trying to grab a beer or two

From our very first visit we were treated like regulars. Of course, the regulars are a bit irregular. Sure, they get a few sailors when the ship docks and some kids who lost their way to Main Street, but it seemed to be mostly the kind of sunbaked, Golden retriever-owning locals you'd expect to see passed out on a fishing boat or bopping to the Beach Boys cover band at the car show. (What's the band's name? God Only Knows). For $8, got a pair of ice cold beers in those big frosted schooners with broken ice sheets on the glass surface like some Al Gore documentary. A dish of pistachios is only $3. The shuffleboard is three dollars less than that! Woo hoo! We were suspicious our second visit to see if it was a fluke. Nope. Again we were treated like we were regulars. Maybe they are looking for new regulars because the old regulars will be "taking a trip to Belize" sooner than later. (Breaking Bad reference) Who knows. We've met two bartenders so far: Bridget, the sweetheart who reminds me of a stacked, brunette Goldie Hawn, and a more Rachel McAdamsy gal who did a silly and spontaneous interpretative dance around the 50 cent pool table to a Lionel Richie song with some barrel-chested, sunburned Jimmy Buffet fan. We knew we had found a new favorite bar, one that feels like the high school parties my big brother had in our garage. Only here, instead of worrying that your mom is coming home soon, you have to worry about your mom already BEING there. It's a unpretentious rumpus room full of friendly locals. Youngsters and scenesters: stick with Main Street. If Main Street is a meat market, Dave's is a farmer's market, (in a good way). read more

I'm a cyclist and we often stop and drink and eat after rides and this place is on PCH on my way back home. Someone suggested we stop and grab a beer after a ride, they new one of the beertenders. Being thirsty and hungry, it sounded like a great idea, on my way to the restroom, I noticed they had a little spread of food, free food always good! I grabbed a little bit and returned to the bar, one of the crew asked where the plate of food came from? The friend that recommended the place explained the locals often bring food in to share. How cool is that? He introduced us to Bridget the girl serving the beers, who was funny, happy, and a big hit with the horndogs in the group. We ordered hot dogs since we didn't want to eat all the free food, had a couple beers and truly felt welcomed. Girls beware there's not too many women in there, which could be good or bad depending on your situation. They were all nice and seemed to know each other well, by the way they were trash talking each other. Give it a try. read more

I wish I could rate this place by the bartender on duty because I would give Bridgette 5+ star for her warm welcoming spirit, attentiveness, entertainment factor and overall customer relations. I wish I could say the same about the two other bartenders that I've experience at this establishment, but I unfortunately can't. Its not that they are bad by any means, but I just dont care to listen to the bartender bash and throw other co-workers under the bus with the customers or have the other lick her finger as she making a sandwich for a patron. I give this place 3.75 stars. Went with my hubby and all of his Navy division, practically filled the whole place up. Got the jukebox going and was off to observe the insanity that is sailors drinking, eating free peanuts, and playing shuffleboard and pool. The bathroom was clean, the bar floor itself is covered in peanut shells but it's cool...it's part of the charm. They ONLY serve beer, no liquor which I was slightly disappointed with but whatever. No biggy. The bartender is cool she is very attentive, talkative, and loves to kid around with everyone. Oh and the walls are covered with old magazine pics and posters of semi naked to completely naked women. First thing - beware the ATM in this place. It continuously denied my card due to "insufficient funds" though when I went to use another ATM at Bay Liquor down the road, I had plenty of money. A few days after visiting Dave's, someone charged almost 100 dollars from my card to Radio Shack. There's probably something installed on the reader to "sniff" your account info and pin. About the actual bar - pretty small, not enough seating IMO, but the owner (Mike, btw, you'd think he'd be called Dave) was a good guy and bought me and my friends a round. They have tall-boy PBR's, which is always a plus. The peanuts were no longer free, though, as someone mentioned. I had a pretty good time watching the game and playing pool. Everyone knows each other, all Seal Beach locals or so at least it seemed. There were several Navy folk who came, some contractors, some retired and some surfers. Great experiance. Bartenders are cute girls and are really cool and talkative. Beers are about $3.25 for a domestic so not bad but not anything to ring the bell over either. Has one pool table (50 Cents) Bartop, tables and counters by the windows. I have to say my favorite is the classic old school centerfolds on the walls. However my favorite was a picture of a woman mounted on a peice of varnished redwood with a clear coat over the photo as to better preserve it or the oil painting of the naked woman. I didnt at first notice the nudy photos on the walls until I was done people watching but damn. I was with my girl and she noticed them and didnt even point them out. I stopped in today for a beer. Friendly service, and people . Needs more people, and a little more of a selection to eat with. All though, they do have a sandwich and choices of potato salads ect. I found that they do not carry a "food license which is lacking in supply of the items maybe wanted." This being what the bartender told me. Outside of that, the food is limited. I had ordered a pastrami on SD, but they were out. So I tried to change it to Turkey on white, but again low on supply. I ended up choice the hotdog and potato salad which was okay. They have beer on tap, 3 choices , and with a bottle selection which is affordable for a neighborhood pub hangout. Pool table, and shuffleboard. Clean restrooms and television / internet Music box. Parking is limited but is available. Nice place to stop for a beer. read more
