I was very disappointed in this interaction with mother's window tint. I've had them do a couple other jobs for a basic window, tint and amp installed, which was good.. but I had a OEM Head unit go out. They told me there was not a replacement through your basic car audio supplier i.e. Sony Pioneer JVC. Etc... I was advised by the sales associate to look by a Tesla style replacement they even sent me the link for the product. I decided to go ahead and purchase it, which took a little while for shipping to come in. Once it has come in. I brought it in. They had their car audio installer to look at it and tell me that they cannot install. this are covered under warranty because they had problems with other customers with the same unit. This made me very upset because they're the ones that told me to purchase this brand and then they cannot install it. Went in on Wednesday at 3:30 pm to get info on tinting a Lincoln aviator. Daniel said they could do it right now. They had it done by 5:15 pm and it looked awesome ! Came on a Saturday and spoke to Dan, who worked as tinting for over 20 years and he definitely knows his trade. Had my 18' BMW F83 tinted w Johnson ceramic 80/20 and the workmanship is amazing. Previously used HuperOptiks, ceramics which they also carry but he recommended this brand. Also tried XPel XR ceramics, which are good. However, no regrets on trying the Johnson ceramics tint. And Dan definitely made the experience better. Not only did he clearly explained everything as well as answered all my questions and concerns regarding other tints without bashing them, he also took a day off to accommodate my crazy work schedule. Reached out to Mother's about possible installation on 2 vehicles, One of which we had serviced with them back in 2012-we had asked if they were able to search for invoices for warranty purposes from that long ago and they told me yes. Great! A month has gone by now since that first initial request which is why Dan had told me over the phone to come in for an appt so corporate can make our invoice a priority. We make it in, Dan says no one has sent him anything and now he wanted us to leave our vehicle there for a couple days so they can continue to look for it. We told him, No, we can't do that, it's already been a month and you never mentioned we would have to leave our vehicle for not one day but several days over the phone (that is such and inconvenience as most people rely upon having a vehicle) He then stated, "It wasn't his problem that they (corporate) can't find the invoice." I get it an invoice from that long ago would be hard to find especially since the chain store we went to closed down about 15-20 years ago. How about a hey we looked, couldn't find it, let's see how we can help instead of giving us the run around for a month. He did ask for our names and number AGAIN and we told him just to forget it and walked out. Exceeded expectations! My newly-acquired-from-Florida MB failed the front side window test at the Texas inspection, so needed to replace just driver and pax side window tints. With earth-scorching temps, Dan said it would be a while before he could get to me, so we scheduled it almost a month out. When I called to confirm, our dates didn't match up but Dan said "just bring it in" on a Saturday morning. It was done by lunchtime. Dan's suggestion for a nice match to the existing tint was perfect and you'd never know it was completely different from what was there before. The application was perfect with no bubbles, no scratches, no fingerprints and the price was more than fair (truly, you couldn't pay me enough to do this job). Really impressed - I drive a company car so with the amount of miles I do and Texas sun I need a good tint! My company set me up with a company that did not return my calls, second guy was a no show twice so they set me up with Mother's that got me in same day which was the first big plus - within an hour of them calling actually which given it was a 95 degree day, I was pretty ecstatic about this. They were really nice and polite and I asked them if they could push for a brow as it was not initially approved - sure enough they got this done ! I went into the Bandera location last week to get a quote for Huper Optik film on my Lexus. The manager quoted me $600 which included the Johnson Film on the windshield. Dropped the car off on 8/3/2023, 9:00 am as requested. I was told the job would take 4 hours. I get a call at 1 pm saying the tint removal was taking way longer that anticipated. Arrived at 4pm to pickup the car. The manager said he was not able to put the windshield film on the car. Four of the windows had residual dirt under the film. residual film on the window. Now I have to take my car over to the San Pedro location to have the windshield film installed and the windows redone. This was a big mistake taking my car over to this location! I have been taking my cars over to Mother's for the last 20 yrs. This install has proven to be the worst that I have ever experienced! You would think that they would do a quality check on their tint jobs before handing the auto over to the customer. Well, I have an appointment scheduled for 8/10/23 to correct the issues. Dan was super helpful even though he was juggling a few clients he still took the time to step outside and take a peek at my vehicle with me and provide an accurate estimate. Where do I start? First off, over the phone the guy tells me an alarm install will take 1-2 hrs. I get there, drop off my truck, come back 2 hrs later and the truck isn't ready. I'm told it will take another 35 minutes, so I have my wife leave me there. I wait another 3 hours before the truck is ready. I'm told that a couple of the functions don't work, but to bring it back in another time and they'll find a fix for it. When I get home I read through the installation instructions and do a little research only to find out that a total of three remotes had been programmed to my truck. I was given 2 and this shady ass place kept one for themselves. I imagine they would eventually sell this remote or use it for themselves to get into my truck. I asked them about it and they stuttered and danced around giving me a bunch of fake news. No matter what happens I will never go back to this place. read more

Bought alarm with window tint for my son's truck on his birthday. The install was quick and customer service was great.

The final tint job was trouble free, five stars. HOWEVER, there were a number of issues with the process. I was given a verbal price for the job (which was reduced when I was going to leave to "think about it") then when it was finished, at check out they added additional fees for "installers supplies" (obvious deceit) and another fee. There is a small sign on the wall in the waiting room mixed in with all the other advertising signs. It says something like "9.95 will be added to all invoices." That's it, no explanation of what 9.95 is for - I call it the dishonesty surcharge. Also, when i was leaving, my $800 head unit would not turn on. Turns out the installers did not protect it when they sprayed water everywhere. For a day it would shut down periodically. Thankfully after a day it dried out and worked ok. I would not recommend this place as there is so much competition out there, you can do better and the price was about the same as others but without the deceit. read more

I called around 3:15pm and talked to a guy from Mother's and asked if i needed an appointment to have some tint removed so i could get my truck registered. I asked if i needed an appointment and he said no, just come on down, that they were open till 6pm. Drove down from Boerne, and I got there around 4:40pm. He said they were now filled up and I could return on Friday. Terrible advise and service. He was very nonchalant ... too bad he didn't know I had just purchased a new Porsche that needed tinting and the truck needed to be re-tinted because I purchased it from an individual who was out of compliance with Texas laws. I didn't know they carried audio car and truck equipment, that would have been a nice add on to his sales ticket as I wanted to upgrade the truck system also. I guess when you are a sales novice as he was, it's too bad he didn't have better training. Missing out on several hundred dollars in sales apparently doesn't motivate Mother's employees to pay better attention to customer needs. I totally agree with other posts saying they could care less if they get your business, must be coming from the top, very poor management. Why would anybody want to shop at their stores? read more

Terrible service! If there was a 0 star rating, this Mothers at 281 Thousand Oaks location would get it! Had tint and stereo put in/bubbles in tint and they will not replace it because the manager said I am at fault. I did not roll my windows down for 5 full days after getting the tint! They also installed an aftermarket car stereo that I got a better deal on at a large online website. As soon as I left my dash lights did not work and the check engine light was on. I took it back and they told me to take it to the nearest dealer. I did so and the dealer told me that it is not covered under warranty because someone else messed with the wiring! Now Im out $2300 and Mother's will not reimburse me!!!! I will take legal action to help put Mother's out of business no matter the cost! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT MOTHERS WINDOW TINT ON 281 and THOUSAND OAKS!!! read more
