I can't say enough good things about this experience. He was friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable. The quote was fair and the work was done quick. He also alerted me to the fact that one of my tires was dangerous to drive on, even though he was not going to be able to make a commission on that sale. My husband is elderly and I am disabled. We haven't found any decent cars in our area, so we turned to the internet. We saw a car, a Subaru Outback 6 speed manual, that looked good and met all of our requirements, including price. We live out of state. It is difficult for us to travel. First, George said it couldn't be shipped. Later, he said it could be shipped for $200, claiming he already said that. We called to buy it. We weren't even trying to beat him down in price. George argued with us about buying it. He said he never heard of anyone buying a car without test driving it. People buy cars off the internet all the time. The listing said the car was in excellent shape and came with a 6 month extended warrantee.. Is this a good car? He said that it was 2 months ago. He couldn't say now. Why doesn't this guy want to take our money? George essentially said we couldn't trust him. He said it could only be purchased with a certified bank check - no bank transfer, no credit card. George said if we did this, we would send him the money first, no paperwork. After he gets the money from the certified check, then we buy the car. What stops him from just keeping our money? Our conversation with him was like being in the twilight zone. This was on Friday. On Monday, we had a friend who is a mechanic who lives in NJ go to the dealership, hoping we could get this done. The car was sold. Thank you George. He screwed us. Maybe it's best we didn't get the car. This business seems pretty shady if you ask me.
