Took my vehicle in for loss of power and a pulling motion going into 2nd gear. 1 week and $3500 later, I get my car back with the issue still there. Took it in to the smaller garage, and they had the issue fixed in 5 hours for $480. This place will take advantage of you. They'll give you updates for the first few days as well as picture progress for the illusion that they know what they're doing, but they don't. They'll just rack up ridiculous charges on you while the issue remains. Go to the smaller guy. Big fancy shop dosent mean the better shop. read more

This was my first time using their shop. I had a great experience with them. Tinna in the front office is amazing. She kept me informed, sent me paperwork on everything. They went above and beyond and put in so much effort and man hours into finding out the problem plus checked out the car thoroughly. My car is a Benz, so they could not repair it, because it was a software issue and had to take it to a place that only specializes in foreign cars. Tinna did not charge me because she did not fix the problem even though they had a bunch of man hours on it. Who is honest like that? Very few. Most places would find something wrong and charge an arm and a leg to fix something that isn't even broken. I will continue to use them because of their honesty. That is rare these days. The folks upfront were top notch. The mechanics and technicians in the back I'm sure they're top-notch well trained individuals. Only complaint is lack of timely communication with the customer. I'm not talking about updating the customer every 30 minutes every hour every two hours I think updating the customer at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day is very reasonable. read more

I took my car to Motor Motion Automotive under the guidance of my warranty service. I paid the deductible up front and it went to hell from there. For your sanity, avoid this shop if possible. October 2019: 1. My car was in the shop for weeks, not about a week as estimated. 2. They tried to upsell me multiple times after I made it clear that I only wanted the work covered under warranty. 3. They broke my rack and pinion and were not upfront about it. I kept being fed random excuses for the delays before they finally came clean. 4. They tried to make me pay for what they broke... see point 3. 5. My steering column now raddles every time I hit a bump. 6. At the time of pickup, they claimed additional fees not covered by the warranty. These fees were never discussed or approved. They waved them and we went our separate ways. April 2020: Now, over 6 months later, I received a 90 days past due for an unrecognizable service and amount. It took three calls before they concluded that it must be from the aforementioned point 6, despite the numbers nowhere near aligning. They now claim the fees were never waived. To reiterate, I was never contacted about this in the over six months since the service. I've spent more time and energy than any individual should in getting a car repaired under warranty. My steering column reminds me of this terrible experience every time I hit a bump. read more

I waited and sat on this before I wrote this review. I purchased a car and was looking for a mechanic shop that I could trust and keep coming back to, thats how I found Motor Motion. Going through tons of reviews and even the fact that they are family owned and seemed very for the community were all check marks for me! The first visit seemed to go well front desk help was a little rough around the edges but nothing that couldn't be over looked. Beautiful building everything was looks great from the outside! They were knowledgeable on submitting claim forms for your insurance that was very appealing to me. Now here is where it goes south. Brought my car because my seat warmer went out. They submitted claim got the insurance to take care of it but said I had another problem with my turbo fuel injector and it needed to be replaced but insurance wouldn't cover it. Ok...I'll pay sounds serious. Get my car back and get home and notice the alarm is now not working. Ask them to check it since they were messing around with the electrical I thought it could have been an accident. They charge me to have it checked. That didn't make me happy. They managed to get the insurance to pay for that but still made me pay a diagnostic fee. Already feeling uneasy about this but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Go in again for a routine oil change and come out needing almost 1000 worth of shocks now. You see where I'm going here. Everytime I bring in my 2015 car I keep walking out with new issues. Was than persuaded to open a synchrony credit card with them after I was told about my shocks. Wow I was foolish. Opened the credit card really thought I needed the shocks. Walked away with the work done a new credit card bill but an uneasy feeling again. Let alone at this point im tired of the 6hr oil change jobs. They keep your car all day for an oil change unless you tell them you need your car and than you still get it back 2 to 4 hrs later it's ridiculous honestly. Just came in this week for another routine oil change giving them one final chance, I figure they know my car I might just be acting paranoid. Get my car back suprised I didn't need another 1000 in mysterious work. Well after 2 weeks I notice my car is leaking large amounts of oil everywhere!!!! At first I thought it was A.C. water but no it was oil. Took it back was very upset and was treated with little concern. Told this is common it happens for multiple reason with the oil plug. I don't know much about cars but a routine oil change shouldn't lead to oil all over the guts of my car and my driveway. If I hadn't noticed my car could have been in some serious trouble. I believe these people overcharge, I believe they create problems that lead you to have to come back, and they take advantage of people who don't know better. I should have listened to my gut instincts the first time. If you read other reviews people express the same feelings and I shouldn't have ignored that. It's a shame when you can't trust a business. If I could give less then half a star I would this place try's to take advantage of young people talk disrespectful to customers, and doesn't back up their work. I have been there twice, and I thought they were quick and efficient. They replaced my ceramic brakes for less than I expected. They drove my grandson and me down to Boomers and picked us up a couple of hours later. It was seamless. I returned to replace items that they recommended -- they gave me pictures to show me the problem areas. We had a slight delay because of a broken piece that they had to go across town to replace, which did not take too long. I live out of town so was very glad that they were efficient. Do not go here! I took my car here and paid them almost 3 grand to fix my car only to have it break completely down not even a week after picking it up. Only for them to tell me I need 4 thousand dollars+ worth of more work done when they hadn't even dropped my pan to see the whole problem going on. And this is after they told me the first time it would be the fix to my problems. Not only do they charge you a ridiculous amount to do you dirty but the customer service is HORRIBLE. If you want information you better make sure you have time to constantly call them because they will not call you when they say. Tina has absolutely no customer service skills and yelled at me over the phone constantly talking over me when I tried to explain that I didn't have any more money after the first fix they told me I had to have. When I came here the first time I explained my situation and pleaded with them whether to pay to fix it or just get a new car and after they told me it would fix all my problems I listened and waited over a week for them to work on my car only to drive it two times before it broke again. I have never been so upset and unimpressed with a business. Friendly shuttle driver and polite customer care, but $130/hr (without embarrassment for having my car all day to do that one hour of work; or asking to add another $250 to the bill just to stay on the job!). Do not go here unless you like wasting money and enjoy being taken advantage of!!! They add a lot of unnecessary repairs. And get angry if you decline or ask questions. I got a second opinion and paid half the price. When I showed the new mechanics the original estimate I received from motor motion they couldn't stop laughing and apologized that not all mechanics are shady. When possible I would shop around, don't take the first estimate. Most likely you will get a better price some where else. read more

Pros: They fixed my car Cons: They stuck it to me I was in Modesto for a business trip. Car wouldn't start. Jump starting didn't get it going either. My guess was the starter or battery connector cable. No corrosion on battery. Battery was tested a week before and confirmed OK (and I can assure you, Valvoline would have loved to sell me a new battery if there was any indication it was on its way out). Motor Motion charged me $200 for a new battery and a new connector cable, and $200 for labor, $400 total. They told me they "wanted" to do all sorts of repairs, $1500 worth to be exact. They gave me a nice report with pictures on the repairs they wanted to perform. One thing noted was "scratches all over car." Yeah, I know. Not my biggest concern when I'm out of town on a business trip. Anyway, the whole thing felt very shady, like they knew I was in a bad spot and thought they could capitalize. Well congrats to them, they did. I won't be going back because I don't live in Modesto. Prices are OUTRAGEOUS and in my case for a little more I could have just had the dealership completely repair as opposed to the extremely expensive patch I got from these people. I found a recommendation for this HORRIBLE BUSINESS in my Triple A book. BOY WERE THEY WRONG! I did not realize that there were people who could look you straight in the eye and LIE to you as the owner of this shop did. When I took my 2006 Ford F 250 pick up truck into their shop for repair (check engine light was on) Greg Wray, the owner quoted me $2000. I paid them and a week or so later the owner called to tell me he needed another $3000. I said OK thinking (silly me) the man was being honest with me. I sold some personal items and took him the money he had asked for and picked up my truck. On the way home the check engine light came back on. I called Mr. Wray and he said the light would go off after I drove the truck for 200 miles. I drove it 200 miles and the check engine light remained on. When I called to speak with the business owner he told me he would fix it for me for an additional $3500! I did not have that amount of money and I put it on Market Place on line to try and sell it. About a week after I took the truck home, Mr. Wray called me 2 times within a week to offer me $10,000 to buy the truck. Both times I told him no but I would sell it to him for $11,000. He said he only had $10,000. That was in June 2019. I have since gotten confirmation from 3 different sources the repairs to the truck to have the check engine go off (Turbo Kit} would cost me $2000 to $3500 to get repaired. I took the truck to Mr Wrays shop because the check engine light was on for him to repair it. It has become PAINFULLY obvious to me that I have been cheated and lied to. Not only did they make the repair at a far lower price of 6.6k, but also got the job done quickly. We towed the car in on a Friday and picked it up just days later on Wednesday. I love family run businesses. The place feels that way too. I did ask for a quote and was promised a call back. Never received a call. I called a second time and was told the initial employee was on days off and he would call me back with a quote and to excuse their "growing pains". Guess what? No call back. They provided service to my son's car and we're thorough, however when I asked for a quote in the office, it was as high as Modesto Mercedes! Parking lot is busy. I'd suggest you park on the street. Waiting room is comfortable. Wait time for repairs is average. Repair costs comparatively, id say higher than average but not ridiculous (most of the time). Reception and communication skills are below average. It's just average. Reading other reviews, I can definitely see the favorable atmosphere, however they might be growing too fast and getting too greedy in the process. read more

Caleb & Greg definitely DO NOT need any help obtaining new business; however I feel compelled to write a review about this family run business. Greg and Joanne have been in business for over 30 years, so you know they are experienced. From my first phone call to set up an appointment to coming into their office to their shuttle service home, EVERYTHING was professional, down to earth and really like meeting up with old friends. It is easy to see and feel why the Wren Family has been in business for so long, it goes beyond getting your car fixed; it truly is about creating relationships and treating people well. Their shop is clean, there are 3 or 4 service bays and professional Service Technicians. Although I like going to the mechanic just about as much as getting a root canal; they take the pain out of it or try to. I absolutely loved talking with Caleb and Greg, they will make you feel comfortable and they are not pushy at all. Caleb addressed my concerns on the phone and remembered me when I came into the office and treated me very well. You even get a welcome gift when you arrive which is such a nice touch. On my ride home Greg shared his background and it's a really wonderful success story. I already did my research on his business but loved hearing it straight from him. Greg is warm and such a sweet man; he really, really loves his Wife...and THAT is just one more reason why this business is so great. Took my car in on July 20th at 9:00 am I was concerned about the rear left wheel bearing making noise so they will do a road test to verify the problem. and mention my car has alpha warranty service so I was told by service clerk she was going to submit the estimate of repairs to them.so I left.at 9:15 I received a phone link alerts and updates for my car in the form of text massages and emails of wich I did not received any all day so waited till next day and contacted my warranty service to find out if they have not received the estimate so I went to the shop around 2:00 pm to find out what was going on I was told by the clerk she was going to have it ready by the end of the day or first thing early morning the next day so again I checked with warranty and again nothing.not received nothing this was around 10:00am so I went to the shop and was really upset when the clerk told me she was waiting for warranty service to get back to her thats when I decided to take my car out of the shop went some were else got fix in one day. Basically the best part about this place is that they provide a shuttle. The staff does not communicate anything and waits until the last minute to notify you what's wrong with the vehicle. They would much sooner charge you to run tests on what's not actually wrong with your vehicle than fix the problem from the start. I have no idea why this place has such high reviews. So after taking my car to another place I've been told by their technicians that the cost of the repair will be more than the car is worth. I am now car shopping and regretting that I ever took a chance on you guys. Not only does your customer service stink, with two people heavy sighing behind the desk the entire time they're assisting guests (not just me), but you guys drag out the entire process of just superficially looking at the car. You are willing to charge people more to run a test when you know for damn sure that the cost of the repair is going to be more than the car is worth. The last time I was in, I was sure at that point that the repair wasn't worth it, but you were still willing to milk another $200 out of me to do the test. It''s clear you're more interested in your profit than helping people. When I asked for quotes on the possible repairs needed, I never received anything. I'm very disappointed in Motor Motion!! They held my truck for 2 days and never called to let me know what the diagnosis was. I called on three different occasions to check on my truck and was told that they would get back to me and never did. I finally got tired of the unprofessional attitudes of the staff so I went to the shop to see what the problem was. The front desk receptionist had a horrible attitude and was very hostile towards me. So I decided I'm not going to have my vehicle serviced here and had it towed to another shop which cost me another 45 dollars. INSANE prices on parts and the labor is expensive as well... I can not understand how the other reviews say fair pricing. Here are a few examples... They quoted a part at $550 when I could get it for $240 OEM direct from the dealer. $35 for a $12 air filter and another $35 to put it in, which takes around 5 seconds. $300 to change the thermostat, which costs $25 and takes about 10 minutes to replace. The total estimate cost was over $3400 for everything they recommended. I took it somewhere else and got everything done for LESS than half the price. Sure they offer a 36 month/36,000 mile warranty, give a very detailed inspection report, and give you a gift bag for first time customers, but does that justify the ridiculous prices?? Not for me. I had quality work done elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. read more

NIGHTMARE!!! I brought my 57 Ford Fairlane to Greg inquiring if he was able to install aftermarket air conditioning and he said yes I also wanted them to go through the car tune it up and make it roadworthy with all the safeties working correctly to be a driver he also agreed he can make it so after a quote of over $8,000 which would include the air conditioning I gave him the go-ahead, over three months later and bringing the car back twice with multiple things they promise to fix that weren't fix the first time, I can go on and on let's just say the car cost me almost $10,000 he had me get a loan through a bank that he's connected to cover the rest which I'm paying a high interest rate and the air conditioning never got fixed I also still had a leaky carburetor and multiple issues which I took to a mechanic friend who works for local law enforcement agency and he found multiple issues that should have been caught anyway one good thing was the girls in the office were friendly. Oh I also found out his mechanic Mike didn't like working on my car maybe cuz it's old I guess. If I knew all these things were going to happen I would have took my car somewhere else thanks Greg. Caleb is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and he must be contagious bc everyone done there is kind and acknowledges you. The best thing about them is they work with you in regards to all the inconviences of taking a car to the mechanic. They've helped me out by dropping my car off at my work when service was complete because it was going to be too hard to get there in time. They offer rides or rental cars, they provide a detailed packet of information of everything they observed including pictures.
