Google Maps tells you it's open until 6:30 pm on Thursdays. I went up there and a sign says the first Thursday of the month is open until 6:30 pm. It closes at 4:30 and I was there at 4:25. All I needed was some Velcro stickers for my EZ Pass. read more

What an absolute upgrade from old times. Had to renew license. Made appointment online for 4pm. Came into the MVA and checked in at kiosk. You can only check in 20 min before your scheduled appointment. Checked in right at 3:40. A number spit out. Waited maybe 3 minutes. Got everything done, walked back to my car and it was 3:55pm. This is efficiency and customer friendly service. They do have a 24 hour kiosk available as well. There's also a kiosk in the parking lot for emissions. Lots of parking. There's an information desk and lots of seating. The service representatives are all jolly and happy to help. I watched an employee with a walkie come to the service desk and guide people to actual windows to help move along the line. They are very aware of how valuable your time is. The MVA employee that waited on me was very personable and delightful. She was very attentive and efficient. She explained everything with great detail and it was a super smooth transaction (thanks Lisa). Not what we have all known the MVA to be like in the past. Oh the horror stories and hours of time wasted. This place has a well thought out plan to make sure that people are taken care of quickly and with ease. Sprinkle some attention to super customer service and positive vibes and this is the new MVA that values you as a customer. Well done. read more

Barly one star, more like zero stars!!!!! Don't waste your time trying to renew your tags at the mva belair after hours kiosk. Have tried 3 time this week!! UNEXECTABLE!!! You will spend more time waiting at the door to be buzzed in. If they ever let you in your lucky. Who knows. Maybe its break time??? The worst experience I have ever had! I mean really what is the sense of having an after hours kiosk to renew your tags if you can't even get to the kiosk. A complete waste of time!! read more

I have visited this MVA location on three separate occasions. I prefer this location to others in the region because they honor appointment times. In addition, parking is always readily available, and the place is always clean and drama free. -- Front desk staff could use some customer service refresher courses, but what else is new? read more

Is it MVA or MDOT? Either way, it's horrible. I got there and told a guy I needed to change a title from a name to my name. He asked who the previous owner was: I said mother. He said where was she: I said deceased. (He didn't even blink.) I provided my "LOA" paperwork. I told him I hadn't filled out the back of the title bc I didn't want to do it wrong. He rattled off a list of what to do, said I had to go elsewhere and do, then get back in line. Two minutes later my number comes up again. My friend goes to the guy and says I need more time. He says NP, come fill out here. I show it to him, and he says what I filled out invalidates it, and I need to buy a new title. I'm on a timeline here (I came in from out of state and took a day off work to attend this appt) so I just pay the fucking $20, but in what other "business" would this shit be acceptable? I'd have copped a Caren and got the manager and demand they waive the fee for fucking me up in the first place. Plus, the second guy was nice and tried to help so he didn't deserve a rough way to go for what the demon 2 windows down did. Anyway, this place is basically like a prison. They should move it to a wing of the HarCo Detention Center in Forest Hill for the full ineffective, soulless bureaucracy experience. read more

We came 15 min early. We received number B76. They had B64 on the board. Ok. But then other letters came up. F26. O17. T507. G25. B65. WTF. A half hour later it's only on B67. Wr had to cancel our plans at 3p and push it to 5p. For a 130p appointment. The MVA in parkville was much much faster and easier than this mess. Ok, rant over. No one cares about this review. Had a great experience at this place. Went there for my in road test, they allowed me to check in online and had a wait time of no more than 5 minutes. Everyone was very kind, friendly, and helpful. The instructor gave very clear and understandable directions and was very kind. read more

No appt. Walked in w my registration renewal. Never had to do it before so appreciated the help given At 0920 there was no line. I was asked to approach immediately. Explained that I had no idea what to do or if I needed emissions. The lady behind the counter voluntarily got up, walked me to a kiosk, pushed all the necessary buttons and told me to wait till my sticker prints and return to her window and she would let me know about emissions 1min later she said my car wouldn't be due for emissions ck till 2027 I was in and out in less than 10min A wonderful and pleasant experience For those who have had issues: I think attitude begets attitude. The workers there encounter all types of people, most of which are likely demanding, rude, and treat the workers as though they should know everything, listen to all your non-pertinent details of why you are there, and also service you with a smile. Quite plausibly by the time they get to you, they have heard it all, been blamed for everything, and have to repeat and repeat to people who don't listen to basic instructions like "stand behind the line until you are called" If you are there it is because YOU have to be there. And YOU need their assistance. So come armored w a sense of humility, knowing that without them you will be penalized, fined, or unhappy at your next police stop. I started w an explanation of...but I could see they weren't interested. So I simply humbly asked for help because I didn't know what to do. The expression on the face immediately changed: it wasn't smiling, but it wasn't disinterested nor off-putting By the time I returned to the desk, she was chatting about the cooking show on the screen, and when I acknowledged her interest she smiled and immediately looked up my next emission date. as soon as I got up to the desk the guy at counter 13 was so rude. he was not pleasant at all and made me feel very uneasy I should have gotten his name and reported him while I was there but I was afraid of what he might do he was that disgruntled. In what universe is an motor vehicle registry appointment more pleasant than the gyno? This was the second stop on my day of errands and I had come here after a horrific experience at the new gynecologist's office (TMI?). Needless to say, I was not anticipating this to be a pleasant experience. I had recently relocated to Maryland and after having the Massachusetts RMV give me the runaround with my title for a month (with different people telling me different things/paper work I had to fill out) I just said screw it, let me just go in and see what they say here. From start to finish my experience was problem free. The woman who prints the tickets was delightful. The woman who did my license was really nice and took a great pic. I barely had time to sit down before they called me for my title/registration. The guy didn't yell at me for not having filled out a form.... In Mass this is an offense punishable by death (i.e. They make you get out of line and lose your spot to go locate and fill out the appropriate paperwork which literally makes you want to kill yourself). He even HIGHLIGHTED the things I needed to fill out on it.... No complaints. As long as you have the proper documents required (which they clearly list on the website), you'll be good. I will note though that about 20 people walked in shortly after me, so while i made it in and out in under an hour on a Friday morning, this may not be the case later in the day. read more

The MVA is rather crazy, but I've only come on Fridays. It was easy to locate and the parking lot is very spacious. When you fist step into the building you need to go into one of two lines. One is for driver license related stuff (renewal, new), one is for car stuff (register). After this line, you will get a ticketed number where you will wait an hour or so until your number shows up on screen. After that it goes pretty fast, and the workers I've depth with have been pretty friendly~ so its not too bad of an experience... read more

I was under the impression that there had been a philosophical change in which state entities were to be more "customer" focused and less of a bureaucratic morass. A visit to this MVA will quickly and firmly dispel the myth of any progress. Owe money? Call some archaic "central collections", settle your debt, have them FAX the affirmation to the Bel Air branch BEFORE going. A payment confirmation number is not good enough if you use the automatic prepayment line. Can't get through to a human (seriously, the phone message is we are busy, call back in an hour) - then you are stuck in Catch-22 land. You will save yourself hours of waiting in futile MVA lines if you instead wait hours to get through to a living human who will push a button to fax the information to the MVA. The is pure insanity. If you are given a "D" before your number, say a prayer that you get called to window 8 and not to window 12. The personalities disparities couldn't be more stark. read more

This place has to be the slowest MVA in the state. Every person who works there are very rude and very slow at their job. Sitting and waiting over an hour to get vehicle tags and registration is absolutely absurd everyone should be fired. read more

This really does not need a review. Huge waits, rude people, stupid policies. I came from NJ and I thought motor vehicles were bad there. It is way worse here. Everything about driving a vehicle in MD is more expensive. I went to try and fix the insurance situation. I sold my car and I had to prove to them I had insurance during a certain time period. I never heard of anything so crazy. What if you never drove your car during that time? Luckily I had proof I sold my car on the day I cancelled my insurance. It doesn't help the girl behind the counter was a Goth kid blowing bubble gum and smelled like burger king. Trying to have a rational conversation was impossible. read more

Neve had a long wait there so yessssss they get 5 stars - I'm not a frequent flyer however I've found myself in MVA probably 4-6 times this year already (not sure if they've all been documented) - on today's visit I came to get a new DL however I have to wait 24 hrs so that my "New Name" registers through Social security - I've decided to hyphenate my name - the switch over has been the worst thing everrrrr - so since I couldn't get that handled - Plan B - get hard handicap tags so I wouldn't have to such for the Placard anymore - the wait time - literally I wasn't able to fill out the form before my number was called - $20 was my fee since I have tags that weren't expired- learned that a Crosstour vehicle is registered as a truck so no $75 renewal is $93 10/2017 for me - I asked about Personalized tags as well - that's an additional $50 plus some other fee so $100 so for now I'll hold off - overall very fast - and - efficient - No complaints read more

Ignorant employees, an awful sorting system, and waiting in line makes this place just awful. And that doesn't include the fees.

So, avoid this place on Fridays, cuz its a mad house, but the rest of the week isn't supposed to be as bad. The waiting system is kind of strange, with all the different series's of numbers, but it works decently. read more

If I could give it a 0 star I would. Do you know why? Somehow some reason I always get the same lady to screw me. I usually just bring my lunch here. No matter what time I get there, I always leave at their closing time. I told other people who work there that I don't know what the problem: why that lady just decides to pick my number coincidentally pick my number every god-awful time, she sees me, and decides to tell me I don't have everything and I have to sit back until she calls my number again. Then she leaves. She literally just leaves. and her co-workers are there to help me. and tell me that I have everything I need. so when I go there, I just pack my breakfast and lunch in my bag with reading material + phone charger. Now, I moved to San Diego, CA so let's hope that that lady didn't move to San Diego too!!!!! When zootopia came out, I could not agree more. read more

I had made an appointment at 3:45 to take a driving test for my son. i get there on time, the lady had let me know that i needed my insurance card, license, registration, etc. it took 5-7 minutes to find all of the credentials. when we go back inside she REFUSED to let my son take the test because they close at 4:00, after begging to let him take it, she and another lady started belittling me about how they don't get paid $11.25 to deal with people like is. there was no one else waiting to take the test. there was no reason to not allow him to take the test. she proceeded to call the state trooper over to have me escorted out. i never in my 40 years have seen such immaturity, rudeness, and disorganization. i can't believe they acted out as such animals over such a simple issue. never will i return to this location. and i hope this never happens to anyone else. we as people should want to help others especially in a time like this. read more

Went there with the wife to each renew our licenses. My wife had an address change and name change we were boyhood out the door in less then 10 minutes. They have improved by leaps and bounds, but be sure you go there on the right day for what you need accomplished. read more

Quite honestly I have never had a good experience at the Bel Air MVA. The wait times are horrific, it is a long and frustrating wait whether it's morning, midday or afternoon. The employees at best are brisk and robotic. Most are very rude, condescending and even mean. They tell you different information on the phone so that you are unprepared when you finally make it to a counter. The driving examiners are also very rude. When I first took the test my examiner was sarcastic and rude, told me I was going to cause accidents, and then passed me because I did not actually do anything wrong. Please visit a different MVA. read more
