I have used many auto mechanic services from different auto shops in the past. Some have excellent customer personnel but poor quality of work and/or expensive outcomes for the work done. I have been using Motor Works and Machine for several years now, and have found that they are one of the most consistent, reliable, cost friendly shops with customer service personnel that listen to the customer with the task at hand. I have experienced that customer satisfaction is of high priority and Motor Works and Machine personnel will do what it takes to do the job regardless of obstacles and time frame to insure the vehicles good performance. Any good auto shops will have issues with time frame of services rendered due to the amount of clients being served. And that's what makes Motor Works and Machine sought after for automotive care by myself and other family members. JUNE 2024: Motor works charged me over $3000 to rebuild a motor, I waited over two months and when I started the motor, it was loud and the rocker was ticking, upon reinspection they said the cam was flat and they weren't giving any type of warranty, refund, or taking responsibility for it. Even though they built it. They screwed me out of thousands of dollars, wasted months of my time, and now I have to file a lawsuit or a claim to get a refund, or to get what I payed for months ago. read more

I want to give a shout to the guys at Motor works, I've taken multiple cylinder heads and engine blocks to be rebuilt/ resurface and every time they have done a superb job. Wait time is 7-14 days when I've taken stuff there but if you have multiple cars your working then that's not a problem. Thank you! read more

#1-Took the hummer again for A/C repair, the first time it was the control module & a lil low on the Freon. I already purchased the module but the did the A/C check and install $340 repairs plus the part I already purchased $250 & broken door handle $60. #2-Next was A/C issue again, the hose broke. $420 repairs #3-No the A/C belt flew off $165 repairs. I still need some more work, steering box $550, valve cover and oil pan gaskets $650. Great work but holy crap it's getting pricey on repairs. I would recommend this place but if you can buy the part ahead it will save you a little $. read more

This business receives zero stars from me. I took my Jeep over there for them to change my oil pan paid them over $300 for them to do that. They did not tell me that they couldn't find an oil pan and so I thought I had a new oil pan. 6 months later my oil pan is leaking and I take it to Jim Click to get my oil changed and they told me I had a hole in my oil pan and that it had been welded. So I went back over to Motor Works and asked them why did they weld my oil pan instead of giving me a new one and they that's when they told me they couldn't find one so to get me out the door they just welded it. Well I asked them where they going to fix their mistake because I was told that they should not have ever welded that and they told me no I would have to pay for it again over $300. That was their mistake they would not own up to it and they would not fix it. They're irresponsible they don't fix your stuff they just cause more problems and I will never take my car over there again and I will not recommend this place to any of my friends or family. Motor Works ROCKS! "Finding a good car repair shop isn't easy." This refrain is heard time and time again, but to those lamenting this situation, I say: "Go to Motor Works & Machine, 2650 W. Valencia here in Tucson." A few years back, we bought a Mazda Miata that had two previous owners. The first was a lady in Illinois. It was a corporate car that the corporation bought for her. As for the SECOND owner, a gentleman from whom we bought it living here in Tucson, this was his 'baby' and he treated it with great care and did a LOT of customization. After presenting us with the folder of EVERYTHING he'd ever had done to it, or what he did himself, he told us about Motor Works. That was his 'go-to' shop. We've taken the Miata there time and time again, because, like a doctor that knows a regular patient's history and quirks, they KNOW this machine well. Recently, after some MAJOR repairs, it found some different hoses to blow. "Louie" has the patience of a saint, and is fastidious in his craft. He took the time and trouble to go over EVERY hose on the engine, and made certain that every potential "problem point" was checked for possible trouble down the road as the previous owner had wrapped several hoses with blue, corrugated hose tape so they'd 'match' , because the ENTIRE engine was blue to start with....(told you this was his 'baby'-when we'd open the hood to show people, they'd inevitably 'oooh' and ' ahhh' at what they saw) The Miata is a 1999, but so is our other vehicle, a 1999 Jeep, of which we're the original owners. Both machines truly are very reliable, have served us well for many years, and are well maintained, because we know that age doesn't necessarily mean trouble, it just means one needs to stay on top of things to keep both vehicles in the best condition possible. Over time, Motor Works has worked on both vehicles, and has done a splendid job every time. The entire staff is friendly, courteous, and has a great sense of humor. Their customer-care has always been top-notch. Most important of all, this shop has integrity. They stand solidly behind all their work. They'll go over every detail regarding your repairs, and won't proceed without your approval. Integrity, knowledgeable, hard-working staff, great work; need a good repair shop? i have days wasted after they machined my 289 block and didnt reinstall the oil galley plugs...and to top this off cant even answer me on to where it is located. no oil pressure engine painted and installed..OMFG off comes timing cover. and the worst part about is i paid over a grand and had all the parts there. after days of research i learn its behind the main bearing cap. so off with oil pan and how do i instalkl this plug inches deep as it has to be at a certain depth. NOWAY would i ever use these guys again. i am so pissed off. such a critical area as oil galley plugs and the man who removes them doesn't reinstall them????? shit builder thats who read more

Went in for a ball-joint repair and 4 hours after picking up my vehicle the tire falls off in traffic; 2,000+ in damage. They gave me much grief when they realized I had aftermarket parts on the car and were pretty reluctant to work on it due to that fact. Tried to contact the manager and they pretty much blew me off. They never responded to my claim. I would pursue legal recourse if I had the time and patience to do so. Do NOT go here for your car repairs! There are much better place to take your vehicle. Honest, affordable, decent warranty on work provided (NO 90 day BS' warranties here!), and they've been in business since 1986 (that's almost 30 yrs. experience!). I have been pleased with their work, especially considering I drive a Jeep Wrangler. They are kind and professional, and always seem willing to give their professional advice and help when needed.
