Misogyny alert. Had an outright terrible experience. Came in for oil change, wanted to try these guys out. Omar rolled his eyes at my rebuffs of him trying to sell me things on top of the oil change. Same rolling of the eyes when I asked that the tires be pumped to 32 which is closer to the factory standard of 30 for my car "We do it at 35 here". I requested he print out the estimates for all the services he wanted to sell me. "Do you need me to actually print it out?" At the end, I pointed out the chauvinist attitude and was told "You're just difficult" and "God bless you!" which sounded like "F*@k you". The fee including tax for oil change had been quoted to me to be $75. I noticed I was charged $79.88. I approached a very nice staff member Tabor who took my receipt and said he would try to help. Out comes out Omar with his bullying attitude spitting out "Do you have a problem with the invoice?" I told him I would like to deal with his colleague. "Here! Out of my own pocket!" he fishes out a five dollar bill from his sweaty pocket and shoves it into my hand. And I get another "God bless you!" that has so much hatred in it. I go back to Tabor and ask him to take the bill and to give me a five out from the register. On the way home, I get a tire pressure sign which I have not seen for many months. I measure the tire pressure: 34.3, 33.7, 36.9 and 37.4. Not only was Omar rude, he was plain misogynist and unprofessional. Tabor mentioned this was not the first time a woman has complained of being treated in a hateful, misogynist way. Their boss Jerry is out on vacation. If I don't get my money back, I'll dispute the charge. Can't believe this just happened. read more

Can't speak to service work but plenty others can. My experience was far shorter: mechanic saw me struggling with the air pump at the gas station next door (where it costs) and called me over to check and fill my tires for free. I never had to get out of the car. Tremendously kind! read more

If I could give more stars I would! I have taken two of our cars here for oil changes in the past. Always great service. My engine was vibrating more than normal and I was getting some clunks when shifting gear. I took my car in and they diagnosed the issue as broken engine mounts (for no fee) and then booked a day to replace the mounts. I just picked up my car and it feels like a brand new car to drive. Today I went for my 8am appointment made 4 days ago,for a simple oil change they have a sign 35$ oil change.First time customer,I was told about two hours so I decided to walk home about 5 blocks,after 3 hours I called them they said they were just finishing up.At hour 4,I walked there and my car was sitting in the same spot.I went inside a man came into the office,I asked if my car was ready,he said no we are very busy just look at the parking lot! I said I can't wait any longer,without an apology he handed me my keys without an oil change! I was backing out and he came out and said they pulled in the wrong Honda!Thought I would get an apology or a coupon or an invite back maybe for tomorrow,but nope.I wasted half my day!I now have an appointment with Embassy tire on Prince,hopefully it goes good.I can't believe all the good reviews this business has maybe fudged.?Maybe a good review from the other Honda customer Haha read more

I walked into Grant Road Auto Service last week without an appointment, a total stranger already frustrated as hell, with one annoyingly minor item I had been unable to fix for at least a month. The Car dealer wanted me to bring car in to them in "about a week or so," and leave it for a day at least. He was gracious enough to suggest I take Uber or rent a car while they had my car. I had foolishly believed that with a week's notice for a early morning appointment, I might just wait while my car was serviced. My car was clearly hurting. The issue you ask?: The car's passenger side low-beam lamp bulb had burned out. The labor required turned out to be job best done with a lift and at least one tool. Having just moved to Tucson, I lacked both items. Still, leaving car overnight and/or renting a car seemed unnecessary to install the $14.95 replacement bulb I already bought at Auto Zone. I did the only rationale thing I could think of and vowed to never, ever, drive at night in this, my only vehicle. Nonetheless, my car was soon impounded after I was repeatedly pulled over as the days shortened, something I failed to factor in before taking my pledge. I still maintain anything after 3 AM cannot be considered "night driving" and doesn't count, my attorney doubts it. Determined to turn my life around, I stopped(during the day!) at two other random auto shops and got absolutely no interest in doing the work needed. I ended up trying to bribe a fresh-faced Jiffy Lube employee to surreptitiously do the job while changing my oil. It would have worked, but he panicked and aborted at the last minute. Discouraged by my failures, I saw Grant Road Auto Service while getting gas next door at Exxon station. I forced myself to go inside and inquire one last time about getting help. The owner, I think, and his top associate listened to my tale, but they say his staff were all booked but if I returned at noon, someone might fix it during their lunch hour. It was then about 10 AM and despite fearing I was being led to another disappointment, I returned and by 1230 I was legally driving again! The cost was minimal and whole job took 15-20 minutes. That's why I decided I should write a review. They knew there was no money in this job. Unlike the other guys, they did it anyways and treated me like a valued customer. I've been taking cars to Grant Road Auto since 2001; four or five cars have enjoyed the work done on them by the crew there. My car, a 1999 Subaru, has gone there from the beginning, and now it visits Grant Road Auto a little more frequently after racking up more than 200k miles. Here's why I trust them. Back in '03 I took a newer car to a dealer and was told that all the ignition coils needed to be replaced. They were getting an error showing an ignition coil problem, but couldn't identify which coil was failing. I was quoted $700 plus labor! Hmmm.... I took the car to Grant Road Auto the next day. Yes, there was an ignition coil failing, and they showed me that on the diagnostic printout, the coil was identified clearly. "Don't know why they couldn't tell which one it was." the mechanic said, smiling. We both knew why, it was because the mechanic at the dealer was lying to me and wanted to take my money. The crew at Grant Road tried swapping two coils, and it solved the problem (permanently). So they charged me for a minimal amount of labor and no parts... and gained my trust. Since '03, my experience has been consistent: they are reliable, trustworthy, intelligent, and cost effective. You should give them your business. read more

I had a couple of display lights come on and thought it was a tire issue so I went to "discount tire", the guys there said it was a tracking issue and recommended "brakemasters" so I went there but they said just for the diagnostic is was 89.99, thought about it and decided to try the "grant road auto center" near my house, I am so happy I did, the repair was about 50.00 dollars, whereas brake master without fixing anything was a lot more. Was recommended this place by a buddy of mine and after reading other reviews I decided to bring my car in for a new alternator. They fixed it and gave a reasonable price. The reason why I decided to write a review is because about a month after I took my car in, my car broke down again for the same alternator issue which was pretty concerning as I just had a new one put in. I called them and they took my car in and fixed it once again at NO COST. I was honestly expecting maybe a labor charge, but they fixed it at no cost which has convinced me that this place only has great intentions with business. read more

I've only been here once, they came highly recommended by friends and strangers alike (I'm a Lyft driver and always ask about recommendations). I needed new brakes. My mechanic was too expensive ($700!) so I called around. Brake Masters was cheapest but I was warned again by several people not to use them. I settled with this place and a $560 price tag. That was for brake pads, and new rotors. I dropped it off at 7AM and my car was instantly driven into the bay. Two and a half hours later my car was good to go. Customer service was good, everyone was friendly. However, when I came back there was no one at the front and while the door chimes there was no other way to notify someone you're there. I waited a good 5 minutes before pushing the door open to make it chime again. One of the mechanics came in and handled my transaction, I found that strange. He was knowledgeable though and checked me out quickly. I'm not sure I'll use them again but for what I needed I'm happy enough. read more

I'd give 10 stars if possible! I called the week of Christmas and they initially said it would be at least a week but they fit me in the next day! My trunk wouldn't open in my 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Other shops told me it'd be a week or more and hundreds of dollars. Grant Road Auto had it fixed in an hour! Words of advice if you want to tap into an aspect of living an easier life: "If you find a mechanic you're happy with, hold onto them for as long as you can." This is the place I've sent every vehicle I've ever owned, and it all started with a much needed tune up. Initially, I believed it was some sort of catastrophic transmission issue. My car suddenly lost power, it felt like I lost a couple of gears and made me feel helpless; furthermore, I dreaded the idea of how much a transmission repair would cost. I somehow made it home and decided to look up possible mechanics for getting my car fixed. The next day, not wanting to call a tow truck, I risked even further damage to my vehicle, by chugging my 1998 Mistubishi Mirage all the way from home over to Grant Road Auto Service after only a brisk look over of just a few auto garages that seemed worth looking at the previous night. I live all the way on the south side of town just where Valencia Rd. and I-10 meet, so the location is much farther away as opposed to the broad selection of mechanics nearby who I could have gone to. For whatever reason, I didn't settle for that. I wanted to come specifically to this place, even though at the time there was only one positive review I could make judgment from, but figured, "What the heck, if this place sucks, I'll give them the chance but never come back." Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice. So why here? There are dozens upon dozens of mechanics to go to, especially in this town, not to mention the supposed friends of friends I'm sure we all know who happen know someone that does some sort of automotive work on the side, and for cheap. My problem is, I'm not into that. I've been there before, and that gets sketchy. I wanted professional work done but wasn't entirely sure if this garage might be the place to get it. I really didn't know what to expect. Upon taking my car in, I met Gerry, a pretty stoic sort of guy who I can only imagine, just by looking at him from first glance and impressions, had seen just about everything. His eyes, and the way he composed himself, told it all. I explained what was going on with my car and decided to hang out while the work was being done, I showed up relatively early so I imagine I was queued up pretty close to being one of the first cars the shop would start working on. Previous experiences with garages is that you're often stuck there for a quarter of your day, and depending on the severity of your issue, that's understandable. But in my experience, I'm talking about having wheels rotated... and finally getting serviced FIVE. HOURS. LATER. I can assure you, that won't happen here, but I'm getting ahead of myself. About ten, maybe fifteen minutes in, Gerry comes up to the front and I'm already expecting the worst with him telling me it's the transmission. He politely explains to me that I was just getting misfires because of bad spark plugs and old wires. A tune up! That's the best news compared to a costly transmission repair, and at this point, I didn't care what the cost would be since it's just replacing wires and spark plugs. I was still expecting a somewhat unreasonable bill, and so Gerry disappears into the garage and gets to work. Not even an hour later he returns, says he's done, and I'm already cashing out. It was a ballpark figure of $175 to get the work done, maybe even less than that, it's been years since that first time. I was happy my car was running, and the '98 Mirage felt like it had a whole new lease on life with it. Not that long after, give or take a month or two, I decide to take my then-fiancee's 1995 Honda Accord there. I believe it was tires, or even brakes, but the experience was relatively the same. I showed up, addressed the issue, Gerry got to work on it with his guys and sooner than I thought, the car would be done. And at a price I really didn't and couldn't argue with. I was happy! I was getting pretty comfortable with the fact that, "Hey, maybe I actually found a guy to take my cars to. A real life mechanic worth trusting, how cool is that?" Another month later or so, I come back with my '98 Mirage. I needed work done on my brakes, oh they were bad. REAL bad. Metal on metal contact, I was ashamed I even let it get that bad. I walk into the shop, I see Gerry again, and unexpectedly he goes, "Hey, Arthur! What's happening!" I was stunned. This was the first time I had ever gone to a mechanic in less than a handful of visits, and for whatever reason, he remembered my name. At that point I knew this was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. And since then, you name it: replacing dying catalytic converters caught by failed emissions tests at the MVD, random check engine light warnings, brakes, tune ups, oil changes, tire rotations and replacement, tire repair, alignment, as well as so many more unsaid problems that may arise in a not too distant future, if I want something on my vehicles done, I take it to Grant Road Auto Service. read more

I made it very clear to you the service tech that I was kind of in a hurry and I would be waiting he seems like he didn't care and it took them over an hour and a half to get the car back out to me and not only that but he didn't clean up the mess from his work shoes on the floor mats. I took my car in to have an issue with the security system fixed. The repair was done on the same day. I was charged a fair price. Before I took the car in I had looked online to get an estimate of what that repair would cost. When I took it to the shop they charged me 1$ more than the average repair cost. To me I think a repair shop is good when they can fix your problem and not rip you off. I have had bad experiences with mechanics, so I was pleased to not have someone try to sell me extra services and overcharge me. read more

I waited until 4 in the afternoon with no call, so I decided to contact them and whoever answered stated that they JUST got to my car. When I got there, they did not have any other vehicles there.
