Solid place, my first time (BMW F700GS.) Minor stuff, tire plug, and then a headlamp I discovered went out right when I got there. I held my breath when I asked how much to replace the bulb, but it was a quick easy inexpensive fix (no BS.) I asked if they could check some minor stuff, minor adjustments, and Mr Brown (don't know his first, just the name on his racing outfit, and he has some cool old stories) did it w/o hesitation, was pleasant. Mr Brown is solid, nice, and conversational. Matt is straight shooter and professional. I would def return. read more

I joined YELP today just so I could write this review... A friend of mine suggested that I bring my 2013 BMW motorcycle to this shop. He has 3 bikes so I thought why not? I brought it to them mid-week and there was almost a fist fight between the owner and a customer. The customer told me not to leave my bike at this shop as they were "the most unprofessional people he's ever dealt with". I decided to give the shop the benefit of the doubt and told the owner what I expected. One thing I expected was that he turn off the "SERVICE" light on the dashboard. The owner told me that they "just needed to look up the codes to turn it off." Four days later the guy from the shop tells me that they don't have the tool to turn off the light because it costs $300. Also they couldn't replace my brake pads because they couldn't get them. Now I must go back to BMW or a shop that can invest $300 into their business to handle motorcycles 2013 and later. Moral of the story: I should've listened to that customer. I will NEVER go back there, and my friends will NEVER go to this shop if I can help it, and I hope this review will warn YOU not to go to this shop. Basically I will have to pay another shop for what this place couldn't do. PS. My bike stalled twice since I've gotten it back, and its never done that before. Update March 2017: I see the owner added some note to my review (below). You are a liar, sir. I KNOW exactly what I asked for and what you provided. You cost me another $1,000.00 + for your shoddy work. Say whatever you like, but it isn't true. If perhaps you took stock in your words and followed them with true actions, then you wouldn't be in physical altercations with your customers. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and you are still blowing it. The brakes were already metal on metal and your "mechanic" said 15% which was really 0%. (He told me while cringing, because he knew). You shouldn't have returned the bike because it was already too far gone. I know because I brought it to BMW a day later. "He still had 30% brake pad remaining which lasts a minimum of 1000 miles of normal use and that he could return at any time and we would do it immediately." - LIES LIES LIES. IF YOU APPRECIATE GREAT SERVICE, STAY FAR AWAY FROM MOTORCYCLE PERFORMANCE SERVICES!!! The owner Alex is by far one of the worst mechanic's/business owner's I have encountered in my life. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY! I had two of my motorcycles towed into the shop, one for a piece by piece estimate for my insurance company, and the other for some work on the gear shift lever. The bikes were in the shop over the weekend and when I called in over a week later to get progress, I was told that one of my motorcycles was totaled (the one in for an estimate) and that the other had not been looked at. I called in again a few days later and was given bad advice from Alex regarding my gear shift lever. It could cost you $300 or $3000... THE REASON MY BIKES WERE IN THE SHOP SO LONG IS BECAUSE "OTHER PEOPLE WANTED THEIR BIKES OVER THE WEEKEND SO I PUT YOURS ON THE BACKBURNER. I HAD TO MAKE A DECISION AND MY DECISION WAS TO WORK ON OTHER BIKES COMING IN BEFORE WORKING ON YOURS." That is a direct quote from the owner Alex. After telling him that I would like to get my bikes out of his shop because he didn't have the time for me, his demeanor changed drastically. Alex began threatening me that he was going to charge me for the time that my bikes were in his shop (approximately 2 weeks, $50 per day PER BIKE) ON TOP of the $95 estimate and the 2 hours labor on my bike that needed lever work. "YOU PAY ME NOW OVER THE PHONE FOR THE WORK DONE OR I START SLAPPING ON THE DAILY STORAGE CHARGE." I refused and picked up my bikes today. -HE DIDN'T WRITE AN ESTIMATE -MY BIKES WERE IN WORSE SHAPE COMING OUT THAN THEY WERE GOING IN. Alex made me pay him $95 dollars for an estimate and then when I requested it, he asked me if i really wanted him to WASTE HIS TIME with a paper estimate for my insurance. My tow truck was there waiting and HE TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE HIM ANOTHER HOUR TO PUT TOGETHER THE ESTIMATE I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR... This kat is a real piece of work. I understand that I don't know what has happened in his past, what may have happened with him recently, but to treat anyone with such negativity and threats are no wayS to run a business. I had meetings to attend to today (by the way, It took me nearly an hour to get my bikes out of his shop) and Alex promised to EMAIL ME AN ESTIMATE. I'm curious to see if he follows through on this promise. Ooooo, and here's one final goody! He made me wait about 20 mins before even asking what I was there for. I was in a hurry and my tow truck was there with me so I began loading my bikes on the truck while he cracked jokes with a poor new customer (i truly feel bad that others will have to experience what I did). Nearly an hour waiting, he finally allowed me to make a payment and HID MY KEYS AS WELL AS MY LIGHT BALLAST!!! One moment it was with my bike, the next, he hid it in his shop. I feel bad for the guy, something very horrible must have happened in his life for his trust levels to be so dismal. I wish he didn't force his insecurities on others. I've had MPS and the owner Alex White work on my 2003 Yamaha VStar 1100 twice. Both times I felt the price was very fair and reasonable, and afterwards my bike rode as if it was brand new. The owner Alex is very personable and will take the time to explain the work that needs to be done. The first time I had my bike worked on, the actual price was below the quoted price. Both time the turn around was very quick. When I went to pick up my bike the staff took the time to clean it completely, so not only did it run new, it looked new. Alex and his staff are very knowledgeable about motorcycles, and they won't steer you wrong. I will always be taking my bike to MPS for all of my service and repair needs. read more

I had a nail in my rear tire and took it in to be changed. They didn't stock Angel GT's so we had to wait on UPS. It ended up taking UPS a few days longer than expected to deliver the tire. It's my only mode of transport so I was getting a bit frustrated and my Lyft bill was starting to climb. It's times like this that test a business though. They were great at keeping me informed on the shipment status and apologetic that it was taking so long. Not much they could have done about a delay caused by a third party, but they handled the customer care angle really well. Good job guys! Also, overall, the shop has a good vibe. I'm a new, first time motorcycle owner. Got there to get some chain lube for my 2007 suzuki Vstrom 1000, but decided to let them do it. They cleaned it nice, adjusted chain, tire pressure and even added oil for $40. The bike started working as when I got it, driving nicely again. Pro Moto, a different shop, listened to what I had to say and replaced my indicator for $20. I probably saved over $100 by taking my bike into them as opposed to here. They also got almost $500 worth of work out of me too. Very happy I didn't go to this place. read more

I had an issue with my Harley 48 that i just bought and i thought it was the end and i almost had a heart attack..with one phone call to this spot one of my bike buddy's told me about this guy "Alex white at motorcycle performance" i spoke with his secretary "sweetest person ever".... she guided me calmly through everything as if i was a client of hers! And she helped me resolve my issue with help from Alex as well, i thanked them so much and her response for staying on the phone with me for an hour was "No worries. We are all bikers, so we understand." Like how amazing are these people? Alex seems like a good, knowledgeable guy and they were close to me. I took my bike in for a front tire change. Usually I just take the wheel(s) and new tire(s), but figured I would let them remove and remount front wheel this time. Simple, routine job and they seemed fair but...OVERCHARGED big time!! This review is just for their prices. Their work may be great if you can afford it. So I called to ask about the cost for a tire swap and wheel balance. FIFTY dollars per tire to swap PLUS another FIFTEEN dollars per tire if you did not purchase the new tires from this shop. Sorry, but $130 to swap tires is absurd. read more

Alex is an amazing person let alone an amazing motorcycle engineer. I came in after my neighbor bent my rear signal light. Alex took one glance and fixed it in 3 minutes. Then he spent about 7 more minutes fixing some minor things that he quickly spotted on the motorcycle in addition to cleaning up a few easy scratches. I asked him what he thought about my brakepads as they were squeaking a bit. He actually taught me how to check for myself to let me know that I don't need new ones for at least a couple thousand miles. Just to appease the worry, he sprayed some cleaner to help remove some of the squeak. After all this, I asked him how much and he didn't ask for a cent. He was so generous. I will definitely be coming back to Alex for all of my motorcycle needs from now on. I could feel his honesty and down to earth kindness, which is pretty tough to feel out from most people. read more

It was a really weird experience. The customer service was horrible. While I waited it was one mechanic that just complained about everything. Felt like we didn't like working there. The owner called me later after looking at my bike. And was very aggressive on the phone for know reason. It was confusing because their a repair shop but don't like the ideal of having to fix peoples bike. Overall it didn't feel good spending money with a business ran like this. read more

Not an active yelp poster but I had to post on this one. I wish I could give this place less than a star because their customer service is horrible. Long story short, I was inquiring about a bike they had for sale and basically the salesperson was extremely rude and was completely uninterested in selling the bike. After all was said and done, he rushed to conclude the phone call and practically hung up on me. To be fair, I've read good reviews on this place in regards to repair and maintenance, being old school quality and what not, but it seems as though they need to update their customer service skills because its garbage, flat out. It's a shame that they have the bike I want but I won't be buying from them because they lack the social skills to accommodate a customer. read more

Had a 2001 CBR 929 that wouldn't start so I brought it in, i told them I thought it was an electrical issue and I was quoted $95 to diagnose the bike but after 3 days of them unable to locate the problem they finally tried telling me that my fuel pressure regulator was bad however this had just been replaced and was not the cause of the problem, I was informed later that there was a short in the fuel pump and it was fixed and the bike was rideable again. They charged me a total of $358 (100 for a new battery that they up sold me on] and an extra 258$ to patch a ground connection in my fuel pump... Not sure if these guys are certified but I will not be bringing my bike back to them , they should've caught the short in the fuel pump in the first day they looked at it. But they ended up charging me for their incompetent efforts. I'm just happy that my bike rides again but cost me much more than I thought when I initially talked to the main guy. P.S. Now my bike is leaking fuel from the fuel rail 1 day after I got it back and is overheating. Now I'm suspicious , def not taking it back to these guys . read more

Fast. Friendly. Fair. I brought in my '08 Hayabusa for a fork seal replacement job on a Thursday. They said it would be done by Saturday. Guess what? It was, AND for the fair price they quoted me. They said come pick it up, to which I replied..."shoot I'm out of town and won't be back to get it until tomorrow." They said they'd be closed until Wednesday (holiday) but I asked them to drop it off at my house 2.3 miles away and they obliged, for a small amount of course. I'm beyond happy with their professionalism and service! Alex and his crew are stand-up guys for sure, and will continue to have my business! read more

This guy really knows his stuff! I took my BMW s1000 RR to have some bolts replaced on my engine case cover. The heads of the bolts had been scraped off by car that wasn't looking and changed lanes into me. He managed to extract all the bolts, swapped them out all while I waited. Bike was ready in a few hours even though I showed up a bit late on a Saturday. He even cleaned and lubed my chain for me (after a very necessary lecture on making sure to check my bike thoroughly before I ride). FYI: The dogs on the lot are super friendly but just know that if you start a game of tug of war they will do their best to never let it end! read more

This is a great neighborhood repair shop for any brand bike. These types of shops are getting harder to find. We own a 73 Guzzi, 02 GL1800, 61 Duoglide, 08 Victory Vision and Alex has fixed any and every issue we've ever had with these bikes without fail and has always been honest and fair. He stayed open an hour late on a Saturday night just to put a rear tire on my Vision. We definitely recommend Alex's shop. read more

Alex and his mechanics are simply the best. Honest. You can tell outright. This is a small, straightforward shop. Everyone that works here works hard. Alex (owner) is very, very busy, but will always take the time to swiftly and expertly explain to you what the deal is. He is an absolute professional. I've taken my Honda 599 here three times over the past year for routine maintenance and one minor repair and have felt extremely confident and trusting in their hands. For larger repairs things may take just a bit more time than a larger more corporate shop due to the smaller bandwidth of the operation, but nothing unreasonable at all. I've been to other LA motorcycle shops and have had some shady experiences. Not here. Absolute recommend. read more

I've seen him work on cruisers, dirt bikes, race bikes, vintage bikes, 2-strokes, whatever. Seriously amazing skills and encyclopedic memory. So if you're looking for a small shop run by an entrepreneur in with a great non-corporate "old school/personal service" sort of feel, you found it. This are the kind of place that used to be NORMAL in this country -- where a skilled, dedicated and experienced guy and his hand-picked staff were all about helping you out (for a fair price). I've been taking my GXSR here for a few years and I have no complaints. Alex always goes into a lot of detail explaining whatever the problem is so I get a lot more info than just a list of parts replaced. I leave feeling like I know a little more than when I rode in. He's up front about price estimates and length of time I need to leave the bike there. I don't have a lot of experiences with different repair shops so I can't comment on pricing other than bikes are expensive in general. I usually run everything by a few friends who've been riding longer than I have and I haven't felt ripped off. I have been to another shop that seemed to take forever just because. I took my Fury Chopper in because of a broken foot rest on the right side, I called MPS, they told be to bring the bike over, Alex took a look at it and told me he would have to order the bolts, but could give me a temporary until the dealer part arrived, he got back on the road in a bout 15 minutes, part came in a few days later, he called and replaced right away, I asked if my front tire needed replacing, he was up front and told me I had some time left on it, I asked if they had a tire in stock, they did I replaced the tire because they had been so honest and up front with me. I've been to several shops around LA area, most I will not return to, but I will be back to MPS. read more

Fair teatment. I had been having some issues with some custom lights I had installed several years ago. They fixed them. Then new issues arose 6 months later (electrical issues are tricky). They spent about 3 hours figuring it out. Solved the issue, but did not charge me for all the labor hours, which reassured me I was dealing with an honest shop. Had good experience took my R6 in to check some electrical problems I was worried thinking it was something huge but it wasn't just needed a battery replacement. I seen that they kept checking the voltage to see if the battery was charging or not then they took it for a test ride and said it good to go. This is our documented experience with MPS, left a Ducati Multistrada 1200 in for spitting misfiring issues and valve adjustment, got call after from them stating coil on front cylinder was bad hence misfire, bought a coil, few days later got call saying the bike was finished and ready , picked it up and noticed it was still misfiring and cutting out at idle, valves still seemed noisy with slight backfiring, called MPS and explained, told me to bring bike by which I did, a guessing game started, fuel cleaner was put in tank and I was told to ride it round for a while and that should fix it, I immediately realized I had wasted time and money and had to bring it to another shop even though they suggested dropping it off for more "diagnosis", I have documentation from a large motorcycle shop indicating valves needed adjustment with misfiring issues dated after bike was worked on at MPS, I was charged over $400 by MPS some of which was for rear tire valve replacement and spark plug replacement which I am ok with, I called 2 times after hours (to give them space for a reply) asking for a reimbursement for work that was not done or not done properly, I got no reply, I will have to dispute this with my credit card company, failing that small claims and BBB complaint, this is last thing I wanted to do, I/we have been dealing with MPS for years even way before they moved, but only buying tires and parts and sending our customers there to have motorcycle inspections performed, my friends even did track days with the owner, yes he is a nice guy but just being a nice guy does not matter when your bike is not fixed correctly after spending hundreds. read more

I bought a used bike from them. Somehow missed a flaw in the electrical system. They fixed it in a timely manner at no cost to me.

l really don't recommend that you bring your bike here. l came here for a full service and my bike was returned with a cracked fairing. One of his worker was trying to wipe off the fresh mark, and then told me your bike is been dropped before. He did it, lied about it, and was trying to cover it up. Not sure if Alex was aware of what one of his workers did or not, but l called him over and showed him the crack, and he said not sure what happen there, but your bike wasn't dropped here, but you can still see the fresh mark that made the crack. l came here because l like to bring my business to small businesses, instead of a dealer, and this is what l get. Well lesson learned, never again. read more
