I rode to Al's shop on my Triumph, difficulties that it had. (Continuous shooting, popping noises). I thought it would be fixed while I waited there, certainly not needed to be put on the lift. But okay. Took a cab home. But next day got a bill for some $800. I knew this can't be the case as I had just got my Triumph fixed, 100%, from my main Triumph mechanic a half hour away in Upland. So I paid the necessary $100 deposit and got my Triumph to Upland and my main mechanic. The whole problem was only a disconnected spark plug and the battery a bit low. Would've found this in 30 seconds if he had looked. So either a very poor mechanic or likes to take folks for a ride. I tend to believe the latter. This was 4 months ago and I should've written this then but had to take off to Europe with some issues. But hadn't forgotten. read more

OK, here's my 100% honest review review for Al's cycle shop I took my dirtbike in for a dying out upon full throttle told him it might need a valve adjustment. He told me that he would diagnose the problem and let me know he called me the next day and told me yes it needs a valve adjustment and carburetor rebuild. I told him I already had the carburetor rebuilt, but if he thinks it needs to be rebuilt again, go ahead he charged me about $500. I told him go ahead. He calls me about two or three days later tells me my bike is done. I go to pick it up and It still does the same problem. He told me that's the way the bike is that they all do that. LOL he told me, he rebuild the carburetor again and changed me for parts in the carburetor, which was a lie left my bike There told him to figure it out and fix it waited another week. Went to pick it up again same problem and for some apparent reason, my fork seals was punctured. Just a coincidence because they just started leaking when I put it in the back of my pick up truck so do yourself a favor and be aware of this place. The worst experience I ever had people like them shouldn't be in business and he told me from the beginning to give him a review and he would give me a $50 discount so here's your review and ps I went there on Friday to pick up my bike and they were all drinking on job about 3 PM in the afternoon bad business be aware I normally don't give reviews, but this place was a very, very bad experience a waste of $500 a little bit over and they broke my bike on purpose. Don't come here, please do yourself a service and avoid this place like the plague. I ignored the reviews before me and tried giving them the benefit of the doubt since echo park is my home but nope. Paid 2k+ for services and they still didn't do a good job. I asked for an inspection they did a cosmetic one right away but waited another month to do the engine inspection to see if it works. After another month has passed, they wanted more money. We argued over the phone saying 2k was already paid and why did you make me wait a whole other month for money. They said it's not their problem and they wanted more. Luckily after arguing with each other, I didn't have to pay more. Waited another month for my bike and it still didn't work. Someone did the brake lever which somehow ended up messing with my brake switch but they said it was okay. I went back the next day telling them it doesn't work, and they said they would give me a call back as soon as they get the part. I didn't want to leave my bike there since they are not trustworthy, I walked it home and waited. After another month, they still haven't called me back so I took it somewhere else. Don't trust these guys with your bikes!! I bought the new part and took to another mechanic. The other mechanic I took it to, said whoever did the lever and brake switch did a crappy job and didn't put it correctly. He fixed it for $80 and it actually works now. TLDR: horrible shop, waited 4 months for nothing. This is without a doubt, the most unprofessional shady shop you will find in Southern California. They damaged my bike gave me the run roundabout the repair and then without doing anything... they dropped my bike off in a random alley in the middle of a workday when I wasn't home. They left the key right on top of the seat. I've never experienced worst customer service in my life, and if a shop can damage your bike, admit to it and then do nothing to fix it. After bringing my bike here years ago, I decided to come back since they provided good service the first time. For the second time, I brought my bike here after not using it for over 4 years. They offered a tow service to pick up my bike and take it to the shop. That went smoothly. I paid for the tow service. Over several phone conversations, I told them that I needed EVERYTHING check since I haven't used the bike in over four years. They promised to look over everything and have everything working before I picked up the bike. Come to the day I picked up my bike, the horn, the headlights, and breaks were not working. I was quite disappointed since I knew these parts needed to be replaced. I felt like I didn't have to bring these up since they said they promised to look through EVERYTHING. They seemed to only have looked at the typical things that need to be replaced after not using a bike for a while. They were ready to send me out with the headlights out. Good thing I pointed it out when I was picking the bike up. It was noticeable since it was getting darker. The owner also seemed disappointed and shocked that they would allow this to happen. But when I arrived, the owner promised everything was ready to go as if he were the one who worked on it or at least checked the work of his mechanics. That's a failure on the owners part. Another reason why I lowered the rating was the guy who I spoke to over the phone seemed to be very annoyed with all my questions. He was rushing to get me off the phone. Bad customer service. OMG! Al's is THE BEST mechanics shop I've been too!!! Not only did he fix my baby he added extra service components as part of the service!!! I usually work on my scooter myself but I was stumped and Al with his gifted and dedicated crew really did me more than just a solid. Sure it took a little longer than a day or two but man oh man was it worth the wait!!! I knew it would take a bit when I saw how many other jobs he had. I let him know up front that I understood and assured him I'd rather they take the time they need. My scooter was literally falling apart piece by piece and even though the manmanufacturer (a month and a half later and still waiting) assured me they are sending my parts (muffler, bracket to hold the muffler, and an air filter) Al's shop made sure I was safe to get back on the road!!! THEY WILL SCAM! 1. They will put cheap parts 2. They will get your bike stolen 3. They never actually fix the bike I've gave this shop multiple chances. My bike almost got STOLEN and they never follow up with their words for refunds. I went to go get my battery changed, they told me I'm gonna need a new stator so I agreed and pay them extra couple hundred bucks for installments plus the parts. Long story short they put a used faulty cheap ones resulting in more cost to repair for my bike. Instead of going to a new shop I gave them 4 more chances. Each one of them I failed to make it home from the ride back to the shop. First 2 times I had to pay them extra to tow my bike back even though it was their fault. Last 2 times they promised to pick it up but never did resulting in my bike sitting at a public parking for almost a week. Once they finally picked it up, you guessed it. My bike never made it home. It shut down so I pushed the bike to the gas station and called them to pick it up. They told me to wait an hour so I did at the gas station. They never picked it up. So I called them again and they reassured me if I leave my bike there, they will pick it up by tonight. Which they never did. At 1 in the morning I went to check if my bike has been picked up from the gas station. And there was this 2 guys in a ski mask with a flashlight looking at my bike. I was furious, I called them the next morning and complained that my bike almost got stolen and that I had to push it back all the way home. They apologized and said they'll pick it up today which was a week ago. Since then I just took my bike to a different shop and told me they put a cheap stator and now my regulator plus the battery I bought for $130 is broken because of that. I wasn't going to write this review because after my bike has been to a different shop I asked them for a money back. Told them everything they did and how it was not okay. I (possibly) needed a gas cap replaced--lost my key--and while it was in the shop, figured I'd have a service on it, too. They helped with gas cap situation at really no cost, noted that I needed tires and rear brakes per the servicing and that my battery seemed to have low power. I said sure sure to the brakes and tires; the battery they replaced with one they had leftover in the shop that had a bit more life than mine (again at no cost to me). The guy Al owner of the shop tried to take advantage of me not knowing tried to talk in a way I would not understand then got upset once I asked for itemized statements tried to charge me $300 for bolt extraction that he broke then threatened me when I tried to get him to slow down and explain. He's really old and I knew I'd get elderly abuse for hitting him so I laughed plus I knew shop owner more then likely owns guns for this matter and I had to be safe so got my bike out of there same day for another shop. My experience with Al's cycle shop has been a nightmare. My bike had sat for a few months without being ridden, and needed a carb/valve flush. Al's came and picked up my bike in December. I paid about 400 for the work and 200 for towing to and from my home. When my scooter came back, I was shocked at the damage. It had about 15-20 scratches, The floorboard was out of joint and the molding by the floor board was ripped up. See photos of the damage. I texted Al, he apologized and said that can happen when bikes are moved around the shop and had the tow guy come and pick it up again. The very next day Al told me the scooter was ready to be delivered again. I found that hard to believe because the damage was pretty extensive. I asked for a video. About 10 minutes later the tow guy sent me The most ridiculous video of the side of the bike with the least amount of damage. Completely avoiding the area with the ripped molding and scratches. I told Al I had a hard time believing it was fixed already, and he said he would take a look at it himself. The tow driver brought the bike back, nothing has been fixed and when I pointed out to him all of the scratches the tow driver says "Wow that's a lot of damage! Honestly I don't know what they can do about it." What? The tow driver took the bike back to the shop. Al messaged me two days later saying he needed to find a replacement molding and that because it was an older bike, it would take some time. That was on January 21. Fast forward to March. At this point I had done some research and decided I could just try to put automotive trim on my bike myself. At the rate things were going, I would never get my bike back if I waited for them to find a replacement molding. I asked Al to just fix the scratches and bring my bike back to me. On March 11 he told me "all of the issues had already been dealt with and that they were minor". The scratches, as you can see in the photos are very deep. There seem to be a major disconnect between the actual condition of my scooter and what Al was saying, so I asked for photos. He said he couldn't send me any because the bike was in storage. I asked if he had looked at the photos I sent him, and he said he "didn't have time" to look at all of them. I asked him point blank if knew for certain that the scratches were actually fixed, and that's when he started to backpedal. He said things like "Do you really expect a 20 year old bike not to have damage?" And "We're not going to spend thousands of dollars painting your bike." That's when he essentially told me that damage is what happens when you send your bike to a shop, and I'm lucky that he even tried to look for a molding because most shops wouldn't do it. Just unbelievable. There's a bit more back-and-forth, the whole time they were just very rude and acted like I was bothering them. Throughout the entirety of our communication from January to March, Al went from saying he would fix all the damage caused by his shop, to flat out saying he wouldn't, to being vague about "doing what they can" to rectify the situation. Tuesday, March 16 he told me the bike would be put on a lift and should be delivered by the end of the day. The next day, Wednesday, the 17th I texted him asking that he reach out to me to coordinate when the tow truck would be there so I would be home. Saturday the 20th I reached out again asking for an update. He sent me a photo, and none of the damage had been fixed. I pointed that out and he responded "still working on it " On Tuesday the 23rd the tow man calls me at 11:30 in the morning and tells me he's coming to drop off the scooter. I respond that I'm not home, and there is no place to drop it off. He responds that he hast to drop it off now because he doesn't have time to come back. I text Al and say but I'm not home and he can't drop off the scooter, and then I had asked them to contact me to coordinate. His response is that I should've answered my phone. I called him trying to reason with him and he hangs up one me. I drop everything and go home. The tow man left my scooter in an alley and threw the key over the fence. None of the scratches were fixed. None of the damage repaired. I'm now getting an estimate to fix the paint on my scooter. I spent almost $600 at Al's Cycle Shop including towing and I'm probably walking away with over $1000 in damage. Shady isn't even the right word for the shop. Am I opinion they are criminals. What kind of body shop damages your vehicle, admits to it, and refuses to fix it? Everything they've said to me has been a lie, a twisting of the truth, or a blatant attempt to blame me, their victim. If Al's shop does respond to this review, I encourage you to look at my photos and screenshots. They speak for themselves. Trusting my scooter to the shop was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. Please save yourself the grief and go elsewhere. read more

Met Al in 2006 when I had a Honda Shadow 650 which I bought from him at a great price and he serviced it during my ownership. February 1st bought a 2007 Hyosung 650 GV V2C on Craigslist. First week battery died and Al said need a new Generator to give battery a charge. Installed it at a great price and it's been riding great since. Mechanic Mike worked on my Shadow and now doing work on Hyosung with excellent result. There is another mechanic and I don't recall his name and he has help with work done, also excellent results. Met his son Anthony in 2006 when he was 16 and he's now in his 20's and helping out at the shop, following in dad's footsteps and doing a great job. FYI, drive from Irvine, 1 hour and a half, to shop at I-5 and Glendale Blvd and worth the trip. I went in and asked them to install a electric harness for my 2009 Kawasaki ninja and they ended up, quoting me for an ignition switch replacement a rear wheel,and 5 hours of work, they made me pay a 100 deposit in top of another 900 for the work and parts.
