Doesn't matter if you want to get work done on your bike or want to DIY this place rocks! Before we get into the shop itself, the most important thing I need to mention is just how friendly and knowledgeable the staff is. Specially Richie who is a real wizard with motorcycles while being one of the most humble and genuine people I've ever met. The people here are the real deal folks! As for the shop, they are a full service bike shop and if they can't get it figured out then probably no one can. In the hours I spent there, I saw them work on just about every motorcycle imaginable. The real attraction (at least for me) is the DIY side, it's great for a few reasons 1) it's super well equipped and organized, 2) large enough space that it's not cramped, 3) (most) patrons and every employee is very friendly and approachable. Going into this place the first time was daunting for me because I really didn't know what I was doing. I wasn't sure if they'd welcome a complete noob. Turns out I had nothing to over worry about; I slowly learned how to various maintenance and repairs. Richie was always so willing and patient in helping me learn to do things as long as I was willing to try! He really is very inclusive by nature and you never feel like he is trying to drown you with jargon or show-off his ridiculously vast knowledge. Oh and there is beer and coffee next door! So what more could you ask for?!??!? I don't live in the area currently so I don't go there very often anymore but can't wait to get back in there and wrench! read more

This shop is great not just for fixing your bike, but for making you feel like a part of a community. These kinds of small shops full of creative knowledgeable people are rare these days. If you ride you need to at least stop by and say hello just to see what they have built there. If you don't ride... well, stop by and see the fun you are missing out on! Sometimes with the big dealer shops I worry about them doing the minimum to just get me out of their hair and I worry that I'm not getting my money's worth. With moto-shed I feel like they actually take the time to dig deep and do the job right and for very reasonable prices. It's a great great shop that I literally trust with my life. Oh also, I'm a harley guy and there sometimes is a rift in the motorcycle community over what bike people ride. I don't get any of that attitude there at all. I feel welcomed and respected, and I see a lot of different styles of bike represented. Hands down the coolest cafe racers and vintage metric will be there from British to Japanese. Nice to look at those while you wait, and if they aren't slammed they are happy to answers all my annoying questions about everything. read more

I brought my bike in for Richie some time ago, not long after I bought it. It's quite old and had a few issues, so I thought it prudent to have a professional look it over. After the initial tune-up, Richie explained he thought it might be wise to rebuild the brakes, and told me the costs and time associated with such a project. Though sadly I didn't get to ride the bike much that summer as a result of a number of unforeseen delays, I can now attest to Richie's mechanical diligence and skill, having taken the bike on a 1700 mile trip through Canada with no issues. These guys are top class talent, but due to their limited staff it may take some time (especially in the summer) to get your ride back on the road. I also understand they have garage space you can rent to tackle your own maintenance projects, and from what I could tell it is well furnished with tools. Thanks a bunch guys! read more

Boy oh boy, what a great experience. Motoshed is the BEST place to start, if you want to start getting your hands greasy. I have nothing but great things to say about John, the owner, and Billy who was super helpful too. This shop has the tools you will need, ready and there for you. The shop is organized! Clean! And most importantly, John will give you advice if you end up stumped. As will, lots of Moto folks who are always dropping by, round the great cafe, The Wick, next door. I met the kindest most helpful people in the days I spend fixing my bike, with their help, I got it fixed, and with their friendliness, I had a good time doing it! The prices? These guys are afficionadios. I had vapor blasting and some sub assemblies (tires/wheels) put together a year ago. Richie and John are in this for the love of the build. I did my own re-hab/build of a CB750 but, I wouldn't hesitate to turn them loose on a build especially if I didn't have adequate facilities (fortunately I did). I have moved out of the area back to the Midwest (where riders don't wear helmets). I lived in Tacoma and regretted not being able to hang out with the community due to adverse I-5 traffic. Motoshed is one of those Seattle experiences that can't be explained but can only be experienced. I still have the bike and thank Motoshed for making it happen. John and Ritchie you guy's Rock! My Father-In-Law has a 1975 Honda CB125 Suitcase Cycle that was in his garage since 1983 with very few miles on it. Wanting to get it running again I started calling recommended shops around Seattle and nobody wanted to work on the "vintage" Hondas. I saw the add for Motoshed and gave them a call. John and Richie called me right back and were very excited about this project. They were patient with my questions and did an amazing job getting it running again and cleaned up. They did amazing work and were easy to work with. I have since been back to the Motoshed to grab a coffee at the Wick and check out the great bikes that are always parked in front of the shop. I rented bench space at MotoShed for a month to do a quick rebuild on my CB360. The shop has a nice setup with all the basic tools you could need. Richie was a huge help when I wasn't sure about a part or needed advice on the best way to get something fixed. When I needed a specialty tool or I ran out of gasket sealant, they were happy to help out. The community of DIY users is also a great source of help. John and Richie are a wealth of information and resources around the area. They really know what they are doing. 6 months later, they are still happy to dole out advice or just chat as you're riding by. As I get ready for my next project, I'll definitely be renting space again. read more

A couple years ago I ran into Richie on the street outside of the MotoShed in Queen Anne. Knew this business was the real deal from the get-go. Him and the other own legit LOVE motorcycles & care a lot about the surrounding community. He helped with replacing some electrical items on my Ducati and was always willing to help if I needed anything else. Such a cool spot and if you want to turn your own wrenches they literally have everything. Tons of people use their shop to work on restoring bikes. Super cool spot (be sure to check out The Wick next door for a beer or ridiculous weekend mimosa). Miss living in Queen Anne and will likely be dropping by there every now and then. read more

I started out with little to no knowledge on motorcycle maintenance/repair but eager to learn. I began hanging around the shop with my bike, getting time on the lift and trying to soak up as much info as I could. Richie and John were always there to help make sure I knew what I was doing. I gained a lot of confidence and felt comfortable doing things on my own. Was an amazing experience that I'll never forget. There have been a couple times I brought my bikes in for work I didn't think I could do myself. They were always upfront with estimates, time, and super transparent about everything. Great shop and great motorcycle community! While working on my 1970 Honda CB350 I decided to take advantage of the tools and knowledge of others at the shop to finish up some body and electronics. I met some great people and every time I was there, I was able to learn and get help as needed. Additionally, while traveling out of the country for 8 months, MotoShed stored my Triumph Scrambler with excellent care! When I returned from my trip my bike was ready to ride, just as I left it, battery charged and cleaned up. I came to Motoshed two years ago with a Craigslist-bought 1977 CB550, limited riding experience and zero maintenance experience outside of whatever I could find in the shop manuals. Richie and John have always gone the extra mile to walk me through their repairs in an effort to educate me about my bike, rather than just doing the work. I have struggled on how to clean aluminum cases for old cars and motorcycles for years. I have tried everything (glass beading, chemical dip, wire wheels, steel wool, phosphoric acid, etc). Nothing really achieved the results I wanted. But a year or so ago I discovered MotoShed's ability to perform Vapor Blasting. Their process uses a very, very mild abrasive and lots of water. The abrasive is so gentle it doesn't really alter the surface of the parts being cleaned, including critical surfaces, such as bearings surfaces and mating faces. The results are amazing. I am now a regular customer of MotoShed. Highest recommendation I can give. read more

John and Richie are a wealth of knowledge and a huge asset for any motorcycle owner and enthusiast. Aside from always being available with some friendly advice and general moto banter they helped me out when my custom built BMW cafe racer shattered a connecting rod in its one-off aluminum front forks. They helped me ID the problem and worked with me to get the replacement parts in all for an incredibly reasonable price. Definitely, keep their number in your emergency contact list, but also check them out for off-season bike storage and DIY shop time if you want to be able to service your bike yourself but don't have the space. read more

What can I say about the duo partnership between John and Ritchie? All positive. These two are true, fair, and honest about their work, prices, and overall love of motorcycles. Stumbled upon this unique shop, where you have access to a tremendous range of tools from socket sets to a welder. John and Richie are great: honest, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Richie is a great guy and very helpful. I've stopped by quite a few times and he always makes time to chat, whether about your bike or not.
