Well, when I walked in, it took a minute to get the table cleaned. It was kind of dirty. There wasn't a lot of people in the bar. She did come over and clean the table. I asked to have a iced tea and a water, which is pretty simple it took a minute to get that I looked at the menu. It's definitely chicken wing day national chicken wing day so I decided I was definitely having chicken wings and fries. I decided that the garlic Parmesan wings sounded good, which is really odd because I normally have buffalo wings on chicken wing day. I definitely wouldn't speak bad of the food. The food was delicious the chicken wings, Parmesan garlic was a great choice. They were very meaty wings and the sauce, and the flavoring was very, very good. The fries were fries! The tea was good, although never refilled the water was never refilled and that's why the tip was not the greatest, I guess if you're not sitting at the bar and be asking with her and you're her friends and family and all that kind of stuff you get your food you get your drinks and then you get forgotten about.So definitely won't be back in here again. The food was really good though. Everybody gave the food to try if you don't mind bad service! This is one of those places where, when you walk in, everyone stops what they are doing, turns, and checks you out. It's a locals spot and the patrons are looking to see if they know you. I had given my dining partner a heads up to expect this, as well as, an attitude from our server. True to form, Mott's didn't disappoint. It's a fantastic place to go when the crowds in South Lake are too much to tolerate. Over the years, the food has been consistently good. As far as ambiance goes, act like you belong, don't be demanding, and chill. You'll be fine. read more

Decent hole in the wall. The Best had video gaming starting at .05. Service was ok. Nothing amazing to write about.. but not neglected. We sat outside. They have a nice gas fire ring with Adirondack chairs surrounding it. Several picnic tables outside. Lots of seating inside. The place is dimly lit with a big fish tank in the middle. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but our experience at Mott Canyon Tavern & Grill was beyond disappointing, it was downright disturbing. When my fiancé and I arrived, we were completely ignored. No greeting, no eye contact, just flat-out disrespect. On top of that, we overheard the staff speaking badly about our friends and their family right in front of us. I was shocked by how unprofessional and nasty they were. As if that wasn't enough, we noticed rats literally running around on the ground. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable for any restaurant. Between the rude staff, toxic atmosphere, and clear health concerns, we couldn't leave fast enough. Avoid this place at all costs. There are so many better and cleaner spots in South Lake Tahoe where you'll actually be treated with respect, this is not one of them. read more

My friends and I were in Reno for an annual convention, and had quite a few hours to spare on a Monday so we drove over to Lake Tahoe as only one in our group had been there previously. After checking out numerous eateries NOT located in a casino, we stumbled across this place. Frankly, our expectations were mid-level when we walked in, with the exterior appearance of a slightly tattered neighborhood bar and a slightly musty odor in the entryway. When my wife & I tasted our lemonade, it had the fizzy edge of juice that was starting to turn. However. The bartender/server (a young blond woman whose name has escaped me) was genuinely apologetic, and immediately offered replacement beverages, so we chose iced tea. When she brought those, she ALSO brought a couple of shot glasses of new lemonade to sample, which was tasty and clearly fresh. The couple with us ordered alcoholic beverages, one of which was a mixed drink and the other a grapefruit IPA. My buddy had the New York steak sandwich and buffalo cauliflower side, which he shared with his girlfriend. My wife had the cordon bleu with standard fries, and I had the Mott Melt with ham and sweet potato fries. When my buddy asked for pickles, the young lady brought out a plate with 7-8 surfboard-cut dill pickles, not just 1 or 2. When I asked for ranch, she had that to the table in moments. She was very attentive and prompt, which was definitely made easier because there were only 3 other customers, not surprising for early afternoon on a Monday. I tipped her quite generously, both because she did a great job and Mondays are always slow if it isn't a holiday. Considering our initial impression and expectations, this establishment was a VERY pleasant surprise. The quality of the food was MUCH better than expected. It was quickly prepared, served hot, and tasted great. Again, the server/bartender didn't miss a beat, didn't forget anything, fulfilled our requests in a flash, and was exceedingly pleasant throughout. The prices were VERY reasonable, especially since this place is in a lakeside tourist destination, and given the quality of the food and drink, value received for money spent was excellent. read more

So there I was, hungry, alone, wearing a tie, and on my way home over Kingsbury from Lake Tahoe.... Where do I eat? Do I wait and get back over the hill into the valley or do I stop at a place along the way. As an aside, I'm still going through sticker shock, as I'd, just hours ago, bought a Trenta Iced Coffee in a casino for over $7... When did the world get so crazy....but that's another story. I decide to stop into Mott Canyon, heck, I'd been there once in 20 years.. At 2PM it's not crowded and I sit at the bar, which is really a video poker bar. The bartender is prompt with her attention and I'm provided a menu. I must have immediately disappointed her as I order a water, and that's all I drink for the duration of my visit, but I do order a lunch. After reviewing the menu, and having to decide among many tempting items, I opt into the Patty Melt. I've not had one in a while, and I enjoy them. This one is prepared with mayonnaise as the source for the cooked bread, and I'm not a mayo fan. I know this, as there was still a small smear of it on the side of the bread when it arrived. I prefer my Patty Melt's to be cooked in butter....but it tasted fine. The onions were nicely caramelized. The cheese melted well, and my choice of a side salad (although I could have opted into fries) tasted great. The bartenders changed shifts in the middle of my visit, but the kind and pleasant attitude was maintained and appreciated. To conclude, if your alone, hungry, interested in burgers and Patty Melt's, I'd encourage you to consider this option. I'd also let you know that there are times when the place is packed. My lunch was last week, but last night I drove by around 11:00 PM, and there was no room to park, and so there seems to be a lively nightlife at this place. Enjoy! read more

While i was visiting tahoe, i nicknamed this bar, "The Sausage Hole" because it's a 10/10 man-bar. But! Despite me feeling like I was growing chest hair just sitting on a barstool here, it does deserve the full 5-stars rating; here's why: - locals go here -- leave all the b.s. casino trap crap back along the highway, and just have a normal experience. In fact, this is where other bartenders in town come after their shift ends, that's always a good sign. - low lighting -- nothing kills the buzz of a bar/restaurant like overhead office lighting. In mountain-towns like this, good lighting is lost on most other restaurants. The brightest lights you'll see here are the colorful glows of bar-top poker screens. - food and drinks are solid -- can some other steak and seafood place dazzle you with a perfectly seared filet? Yeah. But, where there is next-level food, there are next-level douchebags. I call it the foodie-douche-factor. Anyway, all food menu items were just fine. read more

Classic neighborhood bar with great service, food and drink. We had a big group come through post proposal and the staff was awesome. We were a rambunctious crew but they handled us perfectly. Fish tank is so cool and a statement piece. Food is awesome, turkey tallac or the Ruben are a staple. Dive bar kinda feel on Kingsbury. Stopped in for a burger and a beer after a day skiing. Dark inside which I kind of expected. Seated ourselves once we walked in. We ordered two beers on tap and all three of us ordered burgers. Waitress was super nice but didn't right our order down..and of course forgot a few things we asked for. Not a big deal but I'm never impressed when they try to remember what we ordered and then mess it up! Burgers tasted good and sweet potato fries were great! Wear a a mask until you are served drinks. Saltwater fish tank in the middle of the place with Bob the pufferfish smiling at you when you walk up to the tank. We both had the crab melt Super yummy. Coors lights on tap and had a local seasonal ShoeTree cocoa burrito porter. So good. Tasted like chocolate and caramel. Indoor dining and has plexi glass up between gamblers. read more

Unable to provide a review of the food as the one waiter ignored us, walked to someone he knew and carried on a conversation. I stood in the middle of the "bar area". I was ignored. I noticed we could dine outside so asked that he bring us menus. After waiting a while and being blessed with watching a hummingbird enjoy dinner from nice hanging flower pots, I walked in and looked for menus. He saw me and hurried to the menus. Then stated he was the only one there​. I replied it was not my fault. He then said we could go somewhere else. I asked if he preferred we leave and he said yes. We live a few blocks away from here but we only go there for food, we love the burgers and the fries are the best in town. But too many times we have been mistreated by this brunette who is round shaped who is always there in the evenings. She has ruined this place for us as locals, she is rude without reason, it's like she is always having a bad night. The last straw was when she refused to take my husband's order this past Friday August the 13th it was just a freakin Crab Louie, we did or said nothing wrong and she just gave attitude...this person is psycho. This is a place we like to go for late night treats after work. Maybe locals aren't important to her and unfortunately we will never go back to this place and it's too bad because we love the food and the male bartender is always so sweet and just does his job but that woman is crazy mean with every single interaction without fail. read more

A definite find if you're looking for a locals place. It looks very low key from the outside but glad we popped in for lunch. Excellent prices, nice staff, and food was very good! My husband had the patty melt and I had the crab melt. It's an old school type of menu and the 805 beer special was only $3.25 each! There are poker machines in the bar seating and a couple of arcade games. They have a big fireplace for those chilly winter months. We would definitely return! read more
