Our server was attentive at the start--she took drink orders as each portion of our group arrived and kept things moving smoothly. As we got closer to closing time (2:00 PM), service shifted a bit. About 15 minutes before closing, as we were wrapping up, our server stopped checking in. This was our first visit, though friends in our group had been once before and described it as "just okay," which felt accurate to us as well. We always like supporting local spots, and this was an easy meeting location, so we were hopeful. It's also worth noting they currently hold a strong 4.5 rating, and it seems like many locals really enjoy this place. That said, the biggest drawback for us was the portion size compared to the pricing. One person in our group ordered a Reuben, and the meat didn't even cover the bottom slice of bread--with not enough to redistribute. The fries portion was very small (more like a kids' serving), and the plate was around $13. That seemed to be the general theme--nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out, and portions felt light across the board. I visited here at noon on a Sunday. My party (a group of 8) was quickly greeted and brought to a table. The server was great, not too overbearing but not too avoidant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place had a relaxed, friendly vibe that didn't make you feel like a bother when asking for something.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I even overheard a server go up to the kitchen to make sure that they put the potatoes on the side instead of in somebody's food. Unfortunately for us the food is where we felt the diner fell short. My family got the Strawberry Waffles (no whipped cream), the Breakfast Bowl (add sausage gravy), the Kids Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, and the Reuben with fries. The good- The fries and homestyle potatoes (in the breakfast bowl) were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The tomato soup had a really good flavor. The waffle was perfectly cooked and the strawberries were ripe. The not so good- The prices simply didn't match the amount of food we received. The Reuben didn't have enough meet to even cover the bread. The grilled cheese had the same problem, it had barely any cheese on it. The breakfast bowl was about the same size as a bowl of cereal. It was ok but skimpy servings. Waitresses seem to cater to tables and locals. If you aren't a local I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar for breakfast service. My omlette was decent. Small portions of potatoes. I requested dry wheat toast and it was definitely made about an hour earlier. I requested replacement of hot toast and she gave me same exact room temperature as my first serving was and coated with butter. I was in town in visiting and plan to be back in town next month, probably won't give it a 2nd shot. We decided to do a family breakfast with the kids and grandkids. I Yelped Moultrie Creek Diner. It had mixed reviews. It's close to our house so why not try it. It's 9am, good time to go have breakfast. We arrived and was greeted immediately. Even though the business had a few customers, it wasn't enough that we waited an additional 10 minutes before we were seated. Valerie was our server for today. She had a few tables. She apologized for the inconvenience. She took both our drink and food orders. As we sat talking, Valerie brought our drinks. The sweet tea had an after taste. She switched it for Sprite. The sprite tasted like it was out. It was pure carbonated water. This too has to be corrected. Our food came..... I got the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on the side. Jacobie ordered the 2 eggs breakfast. 2 eggs, sausage, grits with cheese, toast & hash browns. Ayden ordered the kids Grits with cheese, sausage and scrambled eggs. Jessica ordered the Breakfast bowl...grits, bacon, sausage and eggs in a bowl. We ordered one to go for Jasmine. Hubby got a peach waffle topped with whipped cream and scrambled eggs. The food was in large portions. It was just okay. Kids ate with no issues. Even though the sausage Pattie's was way over cooked. Jessica and John had no issues with their food either. My gravy and biscuits were only warm in the center of the plate. The edges were barely lukewarm. Because there was so much I was able to eat the insides with no issues. The food is also reasonably priced. The bill for 6 people came out to $89. It was just okay. As we left, we were thanked by the staff for stopping by. I saw this with other patrons as well. Southern Hospitality was in Full Effect. I loved this part. We'll try again when we return home for our next Florida trip. read more

First time at Moultrie Creek Diner. Thanks to Yelp reviews we thought we would try them for breakfast. Glad we did. First impression- yep in a strip mall- from the outside it looks a bit small but once inside there is plenty of seating. Our waitress Eva met use at the door and seated us right away at a booth. There are lots of tables in the back - had a large group (looked like regulars that come here often) sitting at a large table. When you enter there is seating at a long counter and behind the counter a row of booths. Very welcoming staff - we got our coffee and waters quickly. Food arrived quickly. Love when your coffee cup is filled regularly. I had the ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and rye toast (2 pieces) plus added a pork sausage Patty. Wife had the Breakfast Plate eggs scrambled with potatoes and pork sausage with two large biscuits. Potatoes are crispy must give them a quick fry. Definitely plenty of food. Prepared well - served hot like it should be. So friendly staff - clean - great food and service. With a good tip bill came to $42.60. Yep gone are the days of cheap breakfast- but you get what you pay for. They are open for breakfast and lunch. Plenty of parking in front. It's a 5. Give them a try. read more

One of the worst breakfast places I've been to and it was recommended by a local. We came in and were not greeted by anyone but the cooks and waiters all looked at us for about 10 minutes. It wasn't even full. We were finally seated. Menu looked okay but pricey. I got the burrito for $15 and it has zero sides. The burrito wrap was not even warmed on the grill and the insides were just sloshed in there. I can't even remember what my husband got but it was forgettable and average. 2 breakfasts, one coffee set us back over $35.00. Servers was nice but overworked I still gave her at $10 tip. read more

I'm on a mission to try every breakfast establishment in my new home area, and the Moultrie Creek Diner was on the list. Happily, we had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back. My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles while I opted for old reliable, ham and eggs, dressed up with a side of grits and rye toast. And coffee. Lots of coffee. Everything was delicious! The ham was not sliced from the supermarket deli and full of flavor. Eggs were fluffy and well scrambled. Rye toast crunchy and tasty. Grits were awesome. I am so sorry I missed out on grits for most of my life, but plan to make up for that in the future. Waffles were good, fried chicken juicy and delicious. Coffee flowed faster than we could drink it, and was hot and tasty. Strong, like diner coffee should be. It's not all about lattes and Monin syrup shots, you know. Sometimes you just want a good cup of joe, and the diner is where I rely for that experience. They did not disappoint. Prices were reasonable, and service was phenomenal! Lori was so friendly and accommodating as though we'd been coming there for years. The menu has some interesting choices including pork roll, and they make their own shrimp salad. This diner is a hidden gem in Saint Augustine. The breakfasts are cooked to perfection. The fried shrimp is outstanding. My favorite is the veggie plate with homemade pickled beats, collards, Mac and cheese, and homemade cucumber and apple salad. Very refreshing. Eggs cooked wrong, bacon not crispy or too crispy, potatoes soggy or underdone. Toast stale or covered in fake butter. That is why I was pleased when the entire meal was perfect. We have been here a few times before. For the most part it is a typical diner. The food is good, but until today nothing really stood out to me. This morning I got the Greek omelet. It is by far the beat Greek omelet I have ever eaten. Besides being filled with Gyro meat, onions, tomatoes and feta cheese they put tzaki sauce on top, which absolutely made it for me!!! Decided to try out this place while in town visiting friends on our way home. Not many restaurants in this area. Maybe the reason they seem to NOT care. Food was well priced. However quality was not up to par. I had the waffle and chicken sausage. Waffle was super dry and completely tasteless.
