Wonderful find. This is our go-to restaurant.

This place is our new go-to restaurant. We've lived in this area for over 10 years and the owner is trying new approaches to the menu, and we're pleased. They even make a hamburger plate look good. The pictured fried fish is served on a specialty occasion; really good.

oh my goodness who would ever thought in Florence Arizona you will find the treasure of a Mediterranean Greek restaurant! The food was five star. The Service was five star and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was five-star as well. I will definitely come back.

Met up with some family members. We started out with some stuffed grape leaves which were very good. Then we had saganaki "Opa". I enjoyed a gyro sandwich and we had a spicy gyro sandwich. Service was great. We had an enjoyable time.

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mt. Athos and have never had a bad meal. Absolutely delicious!

We were in the Florence area for some other activities and decided to stop at Mount Athos for a late lunch. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but they have much to offer here. Their food is delicious, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable. There was a meeting taking place in one area of the restaurant and's many other tables filled with patrons so it was a great indication that it's quite a popular local hang out. We had the Chicken Souvlaki pitas and were very happy with our tasty bites! The next time we're out in this area we'll have to come back for more tasty Greek goodness!

Returned with a group of 6 for lunch. Comfortable seating. Hailey took our orders and kept our drinks refilled. Had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Very nice. Big chunks of gyro, not little slivers. Very enjoyable

ordered the falafel pita with a side of steak fries. love the choice of string or steak fries. very basic falafel, but the fact that you can get falafel in Florence is a blessing. very friendly and attentive service.

The food was solid and tasty. Large portions, good prices, and much of it made in house. We had the gyro, hummus, and grilled chicken Greek salad and enjoyed all of it. All the pita was warm and there was plenty with hummus and salad. The hummus was a particular stand out with jalapeño and cilantro. It was tasty, smooth, and not oily. As noted the prices were very affordable and the portions were large. They have burgers and fries and dinner plate options as well. If you need a quick bite this is a good place to stop.

I'm going to get straight to the point: This is the best Lebanese (or even Near/Middle Eastern)…read morefood I've had for probably fifteen years...and I eat this cuisine at every opportunity! Visiting, from California, some dear friends in Mesa, we ventured through the triple-digit heat for about 20 minutes to get there. Even they as locals had never heard of the place, hidden amidst miles of chain stores and strip malls. But it wasn't long before we were all singing its praises and vowing to return. Across the board, every dish was peak: ultra-creamy and subtly garlicky hummus; silken, appropriately smoky baba ghannouj; perfectly crisp, tender, not-doughy-inside falafel; and herby tabbouli, light (but not vanishingly so) on the bulgur in the Levantine style. These basics always make or break such a restaurant, and they were all outstanding. Add to this seldom-seen delights like foul medamas (fava-bean soup), four variants of ghallabah (grilled meats or seafood), chack-chouka/shakshuka (eggs poached in tomatoes and onions), and two types of pita baked on premises and served from the oven--all in generous portions and at reasonable prices--and it's worth the drive wherever you are in Phoenix and environs. I would eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I lived here. I will absolutely return on my next visit.

The waitress never gave us or offered us any refills on drinks. She was gone most of the night. There's an upcharge for fresh bread and so I said yeah, we'll do it. She said she'd bring out the pee-packaged pita bread and the fresh bread that we paid extra for. Then she never brought out the pee-packaged stuff like she said she was going to. The bread was ok, but they only gave us 3 pieces of pita bread which were about the size of a sand dollar. This was not enough bread for 2 people with 3 dips. Also, the fries were the kind of fries you get when it looks like they haven't cleaned the grease in a while. The babaganoush was really good. But everything else was pretty mediocre. I've been here 3 or 4 times and everytime I feel as though the service is bad and the food is overpriced. It's really sad, but I want to like this place, but I can't. Also, they have a rewards program but my waitress didn't try to get me to sign up. I asked when I saw it. It's a pet peeve of mine. But- I guess she doesn't really care or offer it because she probably doesn't think people will come back. My friend who joined me tonight is Muslim and she needed a place to pray, but this place didn't have one. I was surprised to learn that tonight as well. Spend your money elsewhere.

Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. The young lady was very friendly - perhaps limited English, but no one was rude. She served my food, and I forgot to grab utensils. She went back to get them w/ no attitude. I saw the cook (maybe the owner/mgr?) serve a couple and very friendly. I saw some bad reviews regarding service, so just wanted to explain that didn't happen to me. Anyway, I will go back here. Hopefully, will be as good as the salad.

They are perfectly seasoned and exactly what you'd expect. Unfortunately you get 4 stuffed grape leaves for $6. That's $1.50 for a grape leaf with about a tablespoon of filling. I'd either expect to get 6, or expect the price to be more like 3.50 or 4 dollars for the amount. I'm posting a picture of the beef souvlaki pita I ordered. It's $9.99, so basically $10 for about an ounce and a half of beef on a pretty basic store bought pita. Does it taste good? Yes it does, but for ten dollars, I'd definitely expect at least two more slices of meat. It just is not worth what is charged. I did not get the full meal with fries but it is $5 more to add fries to your order and I just can't imagine that it would be worth it. I did see another customer with fries and at best, I'd expect to pay maybe $3 more for what they were served. I don't expect to return. It's too bad because everything does taste good. It just isn't worth the price. Also, I ordered baklava with my to go order. There was only one table there eating and they'd already been served so they were not busy. Even through COVID I made sure to go there once a week (spending $70-$80 on average as I have 5 kids) to make sure Joe was not going to become a victim of the intentional destruction of our economy. When he sold the place I was sad because I was going to miss our regular interactions and simple banter. It was like losing a family member. At first the new owners did their best to carry on the traditions and flavors that Joe had created but slowly it had been going down hill. I always rooted for the underdog and let a lot of issues pass, like being out of this, that or another thing, as I truly wanted them to succeed in Joe's footprints. But after last night I can no longer give them my money to serve the slop that I received for $70 including tip. My order consisted of two #7 (beef sandwich) one had fries and one was just the sandwich, two #1 (gyros) with fries and a #10 Chicago Dog without fries for which the order taker asked if I wanted everything on it. To which I replied it is not a Chicago Dog if it doesn't have everything on it. What I got for my $70 was the most disgusting excuse for a hot dog (definitely not a Vienna Beef hot dog...it was dark brown and about 3/8" in diameter). On the first bite I almost spit it out. The only way I could force it down was the condiments on it and I was starving. The beef sandwiches looked almost fake (i did not have one) and again definitely not Vienna beef. And the gyro was not up to snuff. It had a single slice of tomato, a little bit of onion and a runny, tastless tatziki sauce that was sad. The only thing that was good was the gyro meat and the pita. So again...that is/was the last time I will be eating there. RIP Chicgo #1. We had a good run together but it is time to find a new gyro place or open my own.
