I haven't had a chance to eat in the restaurant yet, so this is for carry out. I recently ordered a couple of gyros to go, and was very satisfied with my experience. I was immediately helped when I walked in, even though there was relatively nobody in the restaurant around 2 P.M. on a Tuesday afternoon I still appreciate the prompt service and the quality food. I also found pricing to be pretty affordable as sometimes you can end up paying more than $20 for a pita. This was definitely more up my alley. We had to go vegan due to health concerns, and trying to find yummy options is hard. Pita Island doesn't have many options, but what it does have - is absolutely clutch! I get the pita falafel, gluten-free pita, and I get the OG Hummus/Green Hummus in a half/half. This is literally sooo good. We don't order out much now, but when we do, this is a must do! You know that question they ask--if you were stuck on a desert island and you could only bring one person or one thing, what would it be? Well, my answer to that question is: if I was stuck on an island, I would only hope it was Pita Island. Because the food makes me feel like I could be happy anywhere--even if stranded on a desert island where the only thing available was Mediterranean food. Pita Island has a number of things that work. First, there's a drive-thru. So if you're into not getting out, Pita Island is your island. The food, though, is delicious. The chicken is delicious. The rice is delicious. And do you know how I know it's delicious? It's because my son--who is at the stage where he's so picky, if he wrote down everything he would eat, it would likely fit on a Red Robin's kid's menu--likes the chicken. And if he likes the chicken, I'm into it. Also, when I had to go in once to pick up the food and it wasn't ready yet, everybody was friendly. And if you know me--which you probably don't, because if you did, I'd prefer you just talk to me and not read my Yelp reviews--you would know that I like friendliness. I'm a big fan of it. I'm a big proponent of friendly. This restaurant location specifically has changed a lot over the course of my time in the area, but I expect Pita Island to stick around. 2/24/24: good food, clean restaurant, attentive & friendly servers, decently priced. Their hummus was smooth, creamy, and well flavored; same with the tzatziki. The only thing I was not happy about was the pita that came out with the hummus appetizer - sure it was store bought (flat and thin). Yet when we asked for some to take home (we had hummus leftover), that pita was thicker and fluffier (the way it should be!). Would we return to Pita Island? Not likely, but only because we live on the west side of the valley. The food was not so excellent to warrant the drive. If we lived closer, yes we would return. read more

Greek food with a drive thru?! Sign me up! I adore the food here especially the chicken souvlaki, gyros and Greek fries and I love the ease and convenience of a drive thru (they also have dine in). Food is consistently delicious and fresh and I can appreciate that the food comes out quickly and that this a healthier option versus typical fast food drive thru chains! Staff is friendly and will answer any questions you may have about the menu. It's a bit of a hole in the wall off of Gilbert/Guadalupe but very much worth it! read more

Random stop here on the island. I was lured in by a sign on the street, so that was good marketing. They had some lunch specials (no drink) and I had the Chicken Sharma plate with white meat strips over lettuce and rice served with a smooth plain hummus and tzitiki sauce. My first review was four stars, my second review was five stars and this review is three stars. I have read some other reviews saying there was a change in ownership so maybe that is why the food seems underwhelming this trip. It was good but not 4 or 5 stars worthy like my previous visits. So aside from the food not being as amazing as previous times here is why I am giving out a 3 star review. Now maybe its just me but I get super annoyed by restaurants that are fast casual suddenly becoming a waiter service establishment when you aren't doing a take out order. Let me explain... We wanted to enjoy a fast casual sit down meal today. We enter the restaurant and were asked by the girl at the counter as we approached, if we were take out or dining in. We advised dining in and began to look at the menu on the wall, she proceeded to tell us to chose a table and she will bring us a menu (insert eye roll here). She takes our drink orders and goes right to the self help beverage area to fill our drink cups. She drops off our drinks, and over several minutes she passes us but never asks if we were ready to order. I noticed she was just standing at the counter so I made eye contact and said "We are ready to order". She took our order, failed to mention the upcharge for the subsitution we made and also failed to mention the menu prices were not correct and were in fact higher. Some guy brought out our food in short stages. We were only asked how everything was by the girl once we were done eating. We told her we needed boxes. She brought the boxes and we waited a few minutes for the check and she was just hanging out up at the counter so I went up to the counter to get the check. She told me the price and I asked for an itemized receipt and that is when I discovered the higher prices. I paid and we left. We also watched other customers told to take a table and brought menus who ended up having to go to the counter to order. Another group had their check brought to the table but the girl at the counter didn't return to retrieve their credit card so they had to go to the counter and pay. Another gentleman had to go refill his drink. THIS IS NOT PROPER WAITER SERVICE. Either you provide full waiter service or you function as full fast casual. It is not right to expect customers to tip for mediocre, half-*$& service. Please do your customers a favor and stop the waiter service and go to full fast casual. If you opt to continue to function as you currently are you need to train the young lady "serving" customers how to properly serve tables. read more

Went here on my lunch break and they have a good lunch menu with about a dozen selections. I ordered the gyro lunch plate and it came with rice, salad, gyro meat, hummus, tzatziki and pita bread. Perfect size for lunch and was very tasty. The hummus was the star of the plate and the salad was the weakest as it was mostly large bits of lettuce with no olives or green peppers that I enjoy on my Greek salad. Rapid fast Mediterranean food with a drive thru but questionable portion sizes and consistency. They had lunch combo specials from 11AM-2PM and a GrubHub exclusive gyro fries all day. The only complementary condiment was sriracha with all other sauces being an extra 89 cents. Having done take out twice, Pita Island had finished my order before 10 minutes both times. =ORDERED= *Gyro/Greek Fries Box: both times I've ordered this, the portion size was minuscule. In order to be full, I would have needed to order two servings. Fries were incredibly soggy and served as a mushy base. The meat was seasoned well while not being too salty. Tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh but I only got two pieces of each. As for the supposedly included olives, I received a singular olive both times. The tzatziki sauce was light and creamy but I wished extra sauce wasn't nearly an extra dollar. The staff were deadpan when I interacted with them so I can't see dining in to be very positive. While the base flavors were good, my orders looked thrown together and skimped upon. Convenience was great but hospitality and portions sizes weren't. read more

Ordered the gyro platter and chicken kabob. Good flavor in the gyro, but not a lot of meat. The taziki sauce had good flavor, but too chunky with cucumber. The Greek salad needed more feta and olives. Probably more oregano too, it was relatively flavorless. The rice was ok. The pita was what you get at the grocery store and not worth the calories. And the hummus was too creamy. I've had worse, and I've had much better. I'll keep looking for better places to go. read more

Located in a strip mall with a drive-through, this little place has the friendliest service. They have an expansive menu with some great lunch specials. A pretty nice option in the East Valley. Clean restaurant, not many tables. Arrived 30 minutes before close, the place was empty. The staff are very welcoming. Menu has mostly Mediterranean options rather than Middle Eastern. Ordered chicken shawarma pita combo, 6 falafel and an order of chicken kabab with rice. The shawarma came with a side and a drink. I chose regular fries. For the chicken kabab, it came with hummus, Greek salad, tzatziki and rice and 1 pita bread. The falafel came with tahini sauce. I didn't try the shawarma but it looked more like a gyro but with grilled chicken strips instead. The kabab and rice were very good. I didn't try the salad but I did try the hummus and the tzatziki and they both tasted good. The falafel was not my favorite. It was dense and the flavor was not the one I'm used to. I'm used to our Lebanese falafel which are fluffy and crunchy. I checked in on Yelp after I paid. There is a 15% discount if you check in. I saved it for next time. Bill was a little over $35 so prices are average. Portions are sizable. Worth a try. read more
