No more. Mt. Everest was my go to place to get food for those visiting my office for a training or conference. Each time I ordered, the staff was responsive and friendly and the food was delicious. This evening was the first time I dined in and it will be the last. Although my party was seated quickly upon entering, the waiter didn't come to the table for more than 15 minutes. We sat...looked at the menu...sat...menu glance...sat...wait staff walked by...sat. Until finally we spoke up to say, "can we order now?" Once the food came, it was tasty. Mount Everest has gotten better and better over the past few years. Their restaurant has been remodeled and their buffet is consistently hot and delicious. Since my wife and I mostly get the buffet to go with small kids, we really appreciate the fresh naan that comes with each order. Definitely an easy upgrade to 5 stars! I went to visit a friend in Baltimore County this weekend, and my friend suggested this place. It's a mix of Indian, Nepalese and American cuisine.We wanted to try the all you can eat, $9.99 buffet, which was open until 3 p.m. that day. The buffet was delicious, and there was a choice of at least a dozen or more prepared food items. The choices leaned more toward Indian, and I only saw 1 Nepalese dish, Alu Tama, a potato dish that was very good. The rest was standard Indian cuisine if you've ever been to an Indian buffet: Chicken Tiki Masala, Chicken and Goat Curry, Vegetable Korma, Chicken Kebab and Tandori Chicken. Then there's the desserts: Golub, Rice Pudding and even fresh fruit. The service was good, friendly and attentive and a nice atmosphere to sit with friends. My one complaint is that they are a little pricey, especially because the portions are quite small (Whenever I get chicken curry, it always ends up being just a few hunks of chicken swimming in a soup of curry sauce). I went to this restaurant with my friends after a while, and was surprised with an improvement the management made, the ambiance was far better than before, the divider wall frame built the place more cozy and warm. We had some lamb and chicken dishes, the food was so delicious, only thing we suggested to server is entrée should have choice of naan or rice, I guess many people love naan with curry/saucy items rather than rice. I also want to mention that the service delivered to us was fabulous, very friendly and attentive servers, had a great dining experience. I wish I could visit the restaurant often to have that "wow" food and service, but sadly, I live in Fairfax and come over Baltimore to visit friends at least once a month, won't miss any time to be there. read more

Oh boy. Where do I start? 1. Delivery took 1 hour, 10 minutes. 2. All items paid for were not delivered. 3. When restaurant was made aware that all items did not arrive we were told we could not get a refund and it was too late for them to deliver the items they'd forgotten (so I had to waste my time opening a dispute with my credit card instead, because when you have a baby you have all the time in the world for things like this :\). 4. I am happy we went here, because I'm not aware of any great alternatives in the area. After reading the reviews, I called both here and Cafe Spice to ask what vegetarian dishes they were serving in the lunch buffet. They were serving nearly the same things, but Mt. Everest's staff seemed more enthusiastic, so we decided to give Mt. Everest a try. The setting is not lovely but it isn't really sketchy either, it's just your average strip mall. I liked the decor on the inside and the atmosphere, although it was nearly empty as apparently it usually is, they only turned up the lighting in the section where they were seating people to make it appear less cavernously empty. Good lunch buffet items: naan (nice fresh basket), mango lassi (ordered separately) Decent items: vegetable korma, vegetable samosa, kheer Not so good items: vegetable pakoras, gulab jamun It was weird that such seemingly straightforward items would be so disappointing, the pakoras just had a bad taste to them, and the gulab jamun were cold and not really cooked, they were doughy (I am used to hot gulab jamun that melt in your mouth). My husband had been worrying that there would be too many Nepalese items that he wouldn't like, but there was only one thing on the buffet that was not clearly Indian ("mountain noodles" - had chicken so we did not eat). It was only $9.99 for the weekend buffet, which was advertised as "20 items"! Seemed like a good deal, is even cheaper on weekdays. The service was fine. read more

I love their Chai tea! It is not sweet so you can sweeten to your liking. I also love their desserts - kheer (rice pudding) and Gudlab(sweet pastry ball; i may be wrong on spelling here..). I am a big fan of the other Mount Everest indian food restaurant, so I decided to try this one thinking it was part of a chain. My friend and I went around 8 or 9pm for take-out (it's all they have), and we were a bit terrified by the area. Regardless of the location's appearance, the food was fantastic. I ordered the chicken curry, 2 vegetable samosas, and Naan bread, and they gave me enough to feed 3 people! It was great example of when not to judge a book by its cover. If you are looking for high quality, traditional, and fresh food, you've found the right place. The wait staff provided some awesome suggestions for first time Indian cuisine eaters. They offer a level for how spicy you would like the food to be. The portion sizes are MASSIVE. They brought out freshly made bread quickly. This is an awesome Indian spot. My boyfriend and I only get delivery from them, but the food is SOLID. We've stopped going to our previous favorite eat-in Indian restaurant in the area because the food here is just hands down better. Additionally, we've found that its improved over time. The food is better now than it was over a year ago when we first started ordering from them. Favorite things - Samosas are great My boyfriend likes the momo (Pakistani dumplings kind of) Kashmiri naan is AMAZING. This was a weak dish when we first started ordering from them, but it's now fantastic and we order extra now. The chicken tikka is great. I really like their vindaloo and chicken korma. The servings are huge - I've made my order turn into 3 different meals. The korma and tikka masala sauces are amazing as is the junelly. My daughter pounded the saag paneer when I've never been able to get her to even look at spinach. Naan was soft warm and delicious. I've eaten here several times and the food has been inconsistent but overall pretty good so I've tolerated the inconsistency. BUT last night I ordered saag paneer (a vegetarian dish) and found a HUGE piece of lamb in it. I've been vegetarian for 17 years. I'll never eat there again. VEGETARIANS beware. Meat eaters have at it! Update: When I called to tell them they put LAMB in my vegetarian dish and that I couldn't eat it, wasting a nearly $20 dollar meal, they didn't offer to make a fresh dish or refund me, they said I could have a coupon next time I came in... Had a random craving for indian cuisine. I heard of Mount Everest before but had never been. So this made my first experience at this restaurant. On the outside it may not look like much, but the interior is rather decent. Greeted and seated right away. Great selection and variety on the menu. I had the samosa chaat and coconut shrimp as a appetizer. The chaat portion was bigger then expected. Good flavors, not heavy or spicy. I ordered the curry goat and shrimp masala. Came with basmati rice. I also ordered naan bread. You can pick your spice level, i wish i would have gotten more kick for the masala but the goat was perfect! Servers were tidy and attentive. This is the BEST Indian food I have ever had! I have tried places all over Baltimore and I am so glad to have this place near my home. I love the samosa, garlic naan and aloo gobi, himalay junelly, dal makani, veggie pakora, chana masala, vegetable jhalfrezi. I also love the tamarind chutney. Sorry if I misspelled anything! We normally do carryout and its plenty of food with leftovers. Dining in, its easy to get a table anytime even Valentine's Day. They are accommodating to spice level. Pretty decent Indian buffet at lunch time. Inexpensive, about $10ish per person. As much chai as I can handle?!?!?!? I say yes to this over and over again! Most of the options are vegetarian with one or two chicken. It probably helps them keep the cost down. If you've ever wanted to try Indian but balk at the idea of $14 entrees, a lunch buffet is the perfect way to go and check out new things at very little risk to your wallet. Inside the restaurant is nicely decorated, service is friendly and quick, food top notch. They do a good job isolating you from the dreary exterior! You can BYOB - and the have wine glasses there. Nice touch. Menu is good mix of standard Indian fair, Nepalese dishes, and some more unusual offerings. We started with veggie pakoras- nice crispy spicy patties with the standard sweet tamarind and spicy cilantro chutneys. Naan and roti were hot and fresh-- really good. I had goat chillipuri- tender stewed goat in a thick, tomato-chili sauce- Mmm good! My son had shrimp junelly- large tasty shrimp in a creamy spicy sauce with bits of pepper and onion- very good! My wife had tandoori shrimp- also excellent!! Steamed basmati rice on side. We had room for dessert- gulab thingees like little donut holes in syrup-- mmmmm damn good!! I initially bought a groupon ($30 worth of food for $16) due to many of the rave reviews. Upon entering the restaurant and telling one of the hosts or waiters (not entirely sure) that I had a groupon, I was informed that it is only applicable for dine-in meals which are after 5pm (read the fine print if you purchased the groupon). I was a bit upset because I was starving after a rough exam and just wanted to relax and eat. I was able to get a refund for the groupon, thankfully, since I was still within the 3-day window. I settled for the lunch buffet since I didn't feel like going any where else. Therefore, my review is SOLELY based on the lunch buffet; I'm not sure if the dinner experience is better. The first thing I noticed was that, for a buffet, the options were EXTREMELY limited. There had to have been maybe 10 options total. Given that I'm a relatively picky eater, that left 4-5 options of food that actually seemed appealing. Next thing, most of the food looked stale as though it had been sitting out for a long while. The food wasn't hot at all!!! And if I hadn't added the pepper sauce, everything would've been bland. The complimentary naan they offered was also very tasteless and had the consistency of pizza dough (not what I'm used to). I mean for $8-9 for a buffet, I wouldn't have had a lot of high expectations but the rave reviews had me convinced otherwise. For a poor college student who is looking for something somewhat different to quickly fill up on, I guess this would work. Otherwise, don't waste your money here. read more

I travel a lot and always look for good Indian restaurants since the ones where I live are quite terrible. While passing through Baltimore, I hit upon this gem. Ate there for lunch. The buffet has lots of different things on it, including standards like Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandori Chicken, the latter of which was the first time I've eaten it and it not been incredibly dry. Overall, this is the BEST Indian restaurant I've found - and I've eaten in great ones in LA, Seattle, NYC, San Diego, Jersey and lots of other places. I can't wait to stop here on my next trip through Baltimore. Service here was more attentive than most Indian restaurants. The weekend buffet was a great value at $10.99. For the amount of food and the quality of food, they could really charge a LOT more. It truly is a steal. The naan that they bring out is also great (some places do it poorly). Food on the buffet was always fresh too. I saw them bringing out small batches to refill it, which is probably why it was so fresh and good. Many places I've been to put out a ton of each thing so if you get there late it is kinda gross. Not this place. I can't recommend it enough. Lots of free parking since it is in a shopping area. Wow! I yelped restaurants in Parkville, hoping to find something other than Clementine (which I love). I saw Mt. Everest and wasn't familiar with it, though I've lived in Parkville for over 5 years. I didn't know of it's existence because of the location. Unfortunately, it's located in a dingy shopping center with a KMart, McDonald's and not much else. But what a gem! What I first noticed when I walked up, was that the windows were being cleaned. Then when I stepped inside, I noticed that everything was immaculate. But what stood out the most was the food. It was amazing! I've been to several Indian restaurants in Baltimore and DC and this is a new favorite of mine. And lucky for me it's right in my neighborhood! I'm really looking forward to checking out their weekend buffet. The staff was very friendly and everything tasted great. The prices were about average as far as Indian restaurants go, but if you're looking for something different in the Parkville area, this is your place!! I am not the type to write reviews, but given it's location, I sincerely hope this place doesn't go out of business. It's a wonderful place. And unfortunately only 4 families were dining there on a Sunday night, which is a shame. Places like this should get much more business than, say, Olive Garden or other chains. read more
