We've been on an Indian food binge recently and this is up there. We were very surprised as it is right in our neighborhood too! We got the chicken masala (always can tell if a restaurant is good by this dish)- which was delicious and moist! Also got the Mutter Paneer with almonds and peas. This was so great! We also had meat samosas to start- very interesting flavorful meat with a crisp and light pastry. We also got the Kabob Stop platter with an assortment of meats including chicken and beef. Very glad I found this place! Excellent lamb curry and the malai kofta was delicious. I liked that the vegetable-cheese dumplings were more in a log shape than round, easy to break up with a fork and fit a nice bite along with sauce, and it was all flavorful. The rice was top notch too! Rice is usually an afterthought to me, but this rice had actual taste by itself and I think fennel and was perfect texture to carry sauce. The naan seemed very authentic but was a little too flaky with a smokey flavor for me, but the onion kulcha was great. I haven't ordered delivery from here for some time but decided to do so today. To start with, I placed my order early this morning for a 3:35 delivery and it was still late. I was totally appalled when I opened the containers. The samosas were nothing but giant greaseballs. The grease so heavy that they couldn't maintain their pyramid shape. I ventured to take a taste and was sorry I did. They immediately went into the trash. I ordered Tandoori chicken and it was so salty I barely could eat one drumstick. All four pieces of chicken were burned to a crisp and believe it or not the drumstick and thighs were dry as a bone. Chicken went into the trash. The two pieces of naan were completely dried out and were cold. The only thing barely edible were the chickpeas, rice and the small salad. With tip and delivery fee I paid over $35. Never again will I give them a chance. I'm still waiting to hear back from the owner. I couldn't believe how disgusting and inedible the food was. Disappointing. Don't run here! Trust me! Food was not great. The place is filthy, some food was cold and undercooked, and if I they give you a time to pick it up, double the time...they move as slow as molasses. Plus, their cars and next door's pizza place staff's cars are parked in each spot in the front of the businesses and congregate in the small parking lot, so customers are forced to have to park across the street to pick up your food and nearly get hit crossing Falls Road due to speeding traffic and a blind spot. I had to write a review tonight! I've been ordering from Kabob Stop for many years while living in Hampden and Now Mt. Washington. Their food is really good and has progressively been better each year. Tonight I ordered my usual Chicken Tikka Masala... well I thought that I did. I got my order and frustratingly called because I thought they got my order wrong. In speaking with the restaurant, I realized I ordered the Tikka Platter by mistake. I was so disappointed because that's not what I wanted, but I made the error. Hearing my sadness, the restaurant owner on the other line with NO question told me that he'd send me the sauce so that I could enjoy my meal the way I wanted. THAT IS SERVICE! I love this place! During this past summer, I could not stop thinking about falafel sandwiches. In most larger cities, they seem easy to come by, but it's been a challenge for me to find a great falafel sandwich that is conveniently close to my work or home. One day, I noticed the Kabob Stop. I went in, hoping to find falafel. I talked with the owner, who explained the restaurant is Indian, and does not serve falafel. He recommended I try the paneer wrap as a substitute. Well, I fell in love with that darned sandwich, which is stuffed with grilled paneer (the cheese that is often served warm with spinach), and crispy fresh chopped veggies. I have gone back several times for a paneer wrap to go and each experience has been good. I have also eaten inside the restaurant twice. I ordered the paneer wrap and the fish tikka, which is made with salmon for two. This is more than enough food to share. My only wish is that they would get the climate control right. It always seems to be a bit too cold, but the staff are welcome to adjust the temperature if you make the request. read more

Was excited to try Kabab Stop. I decided to try some take-out after shopping at Whole Foods. Sad to say I was really disappointed and I won't be going back. I got all veggie stuff which should have been easy to prepare. I ordered Bhindi Do Piyaza, Chana Masala, Vegetable Biryani, and vegetable samosas. The flavor of the Bhindi Do Piyaza was fine but the okra they used wasn't good. Many of the pieces were hard. The Chana Masala was watery. Not the heartier curry I am accustomed to. The Vegetable Biryani was really spicy and the only vegetable included were carrots and potatoes. Their menu clearly states it's supposed to include nuts and raisins which it did not. Plus all of the rice I received seemed old and not fresh. So I ended up throwing all of the rice away, with the samosas. It's too bad. I was really hoping to like this place. I cannot figure out the rave reviews. We often eat Indian. This food is downright awful. The naan is about the only thing decent. I love Tandoori chicken and this was the worst Ive ever had. Many good Indian restaurants in Baltimore. You are better off going next door and getting excellent pizza or great chicken wings. The Kabob stop rates a minus with both my husband and me and our neighbors ..we live 3 blocks away and have tried almost all dishes hoping to find just one. Have tried a few local Indian spots over the past few months since moving here and was hesitant to try this place after driving past it a few times. This time I didn't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of Charles Village area, so we tried it. Pros: 1. The chicken is real, fresh, just cooked chicken. Tasted great! 2. These people really know their spices. I didn't want the food to be overpowering but they delivered on the spice, just let them know what you want. 3. The Naan was wonderful, better than most places. 4. Everything had true flavor and it seemed to be made with quality ingredients. 5. The waiter talked us into doing the rice with one order and the naan with the other order so we didn't have to pay for the naan extra. I asked if we could have more rice 3 times and he didn't hesitate, quickly grabbed a fresh bowl of hot rice, and did not charge us for extra anything! (Someone getting takeout asked how much an extra side of rice was while she was picking up and they threw it in for free) 6. Got a parking spot just out front...always nice when there is easy/free parking! Negatives: 1. We were the only ones dining in...so our waiter was preparing take out and delivery orders the majority of the time (Water refills were a bit slow) 2. The bathroom could have been cleaner. 3. It was chilly, bring a sweater. Overall: I highly recommend the Chicken Saag, tiki masala was wonderful too! Next time I will definitely stick with take out, the delivery drivers seemed very busy running in and out. I will be ordering sooner than I probably should and I'll try to talk others into getting it too. I love Kabab Stop. In my opinion it's the best Pakistani food around. I see a lot of people giving it less stars, but what those people fail to realize is Pakistani-Indian, Nepalese-Indian, Northern and Southern-Indian food is all slightly different and you can't expect them all to be the same. Their Tikka Masala is soooo creamy, and I love it this way. Yes, it's loose. Order some Naan or roti and savor it, because that's what you're supposed to do. The taste is amazing! Also, their Saag is to die for. Twice I've had their Chicken Tikka, but my favorite is the Saag and Tikka Masala. For starters and finishers, I always go for their Meat Samosa and Mango Lassi. Both great accompaniments. For me, Kabab Stop never disappoints. Especially since this is the one place in Baltimore I can count on my request of Hot/Spicy to TRULY be spicy. I just love this place. The paneer tikka wrap is amazing, and I think they do chana masala better than anyone in town. I also like that they have so many paneer dishes, all of which are tasty and fresh. It's a tiny place, but I think their food compares favorably to the larger places in town. Unlike other "holes in the wall," I haven't found any frozen vegetables or other shortcuts. I'm not sure why others have had problems with delivery. I've always ordered through Foodler, and they usually get it to me early. I've also found everyone who works here to be pleasant and welcoming. My particular favourite has been the Chicken Biryani -- which they can do quite spicy if you ask. The Lamb Korma here is nice and creamy as well, so worth a try.
