The décor and ambience of this restaurant is so serene and welcoming. As always, they start you off with a basket of Papadum (light crispy Indian wafers) and two dipping sauces. These are really delicious and a wonderful introduction to Indian food. Our foods started with an order of split Vegetable and Chicken Momo dumplings that were marinated in Nepali spices stuffed in flour wrapped and steamed and served with a special chutney. For our friends' main course, they split a Chicken Tikka Masala, which was boneless white meat chicken cooked with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. They also ordered Naan - the traditional unleavened white bread. My husband had his favorite, the Tandoori Shrimp. It was a very generous portion of jumbo shrimp marinated in an herb mixture and delicately broiled in our tandoori clay oven served with mixed vegetables. This came out sizzling. This came with a side of spinach that was more like a creamed spinach. It was the best we have ever tasted! It was creamy with the best seasoning. I decided to try something new and ordered the Chicken Pista Korma which was White meat chicken simmered in a mild pistachio sauce. I would have like smaller pieces of chicken, but the sauce was delicate and delicious. All of our entrees came with basmati rice. We came in for their buffet on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is bright and welcoming and the staff was attentive and friendly. The buffet isn't the largest spread you'll ever encounter but what they do, they do very well. None of the options are bland and appeared to be freshly made. What's amazing is that they offer mango lassis as part of the buffet. I'd never seen that but I'm quite impressed. I will absolutely return and highy recommend. 9/10 read more

I was amazed at the beautiful and serene atmosphere- especially walking in off the parking lot of a strip mall. This spot is white-table cloth, well -trained staff, pleasant music and decor. The menu is interesting, too. Lots of seafood dishes. My husband's Goan Salmon was exquisite- a subtle sauce, cooked to perfection. The waiter asks for your preferred heat level. I asked for my Lamb Saag to be mild, but it was too spicy for me. The waiter immediately took it and they prepared another dish to my liking. A generous gesture, made by people who care about customers. We'll definitely go back and try the buffet. *aside: a woman waiting for take-out asked for a glass of water. Our habit is to eat at Zooks in the Amish Market. Good food in the hustle & bustle. We arrived too late on a Saturday as Zooks closes early so we thought we would finally try Indian Ocean. This is the opposite of Zooks. You know as soon as you enter. Exotic aromas, sophisticated calming decor, lovely background music, cloth napkins & white tablecloths, heavyweight silverware and attentive waiters made me wonder. Now Indian Ocean is our special place. Because the food is so fabulous. We've been 3 times now. Each time we try something new and are totally delighted. Butter chicken is fabulous. So is Goan fish. The avocado salad is fantastic. Get the house dressing! It's fabulous. Totally unexpected. So was the Peshawar naan. Yes, the restroom was as spotless as the rest of the place. A nice place to have a meal in Hunt Valley especially if you like Indian cuisine. The whole red snapper is my choice and it's really good. My wife likes the tikka masala. The atmosphere is also really nice - it is very clean, spacious, and has white/table clothes and beautiful plants and sea-decor including a huge screen playing serene seascapes and fish. When you select Indian hot it is actually Indian hot which I love. The large selection had me ordering way more food than I would actually eat in one night but it was worth it. I got the chicken wings because I went with Saag Paneer, Onion Kulcha, and Gajar Halwa. I love when chicken wings are cooked hard; I would only suggest flavor options. This was a different experience than I have had with other restaurants serving Indian cuisine. There were no aromas in the restaurant to tantalize the the senses of the customer. Though not unpleasant, I found myself breathing in deeply through my nostrils hoping to experience the aromas of spice as I walked into the restaurant but there were none. The Curry Chicken was tasty and as requested, had the right amount of heat. The presentation of the dishes we ordered was appealing. The wait staff were courteous and attentive. The ambiance was enhance by two large screens. One showed beautiful images of what I presumed was India and Nepal while the other showed interesting and colorful yet strange sea creatures. The garlic na'an was ok.... very thin but tasty. I liked that the cooks were not shy about the garlic. The rice that came with our meal was delicious. One of our party ordered the sampler. That was quite flavorful and we all enjoyed it. The Veggie Momos were good but also had a little bit of an unpleasant aftertaste, like a freezer burn. The sauces were flavorful and complimented our meals. For instance, there was a yogurt cucumber dipping sauce that was particularly delicious and refreshing. The lentils were also quite delicious. This experience had a balanced mixture of definite pros and some soft cons. I do recommend the restaurant but the spices (not necessarily the heat) could have had a more intense presence in the food. read more
