And if the music was so unbearably loud that you had to raise your voice just to speak, maybe turn the volume down. Yelp exists for exactly this reason--when businesses fail to meet basic expectations. You don't get to silence feedback just because you don't like it. If you spent less time attacking customers and more time improving, maybe you'd get fewer bad reviews. In regards to my review on a restaurant, (which you are weird for looking through my reviews)-Imagine going to the best steakhouse in NYC, spending a small fortune, and getting your steak wrong, but you just sit there quietly. That's not how things work. If you think I'm wrong for speaking up, maybe it's because you're the type who'd stay silent and let poor service slide. You must not be familiar with how customer service works in 2025. When a customer feels mistreated, they leave feedback. I signed up for a day-long excursion to Slide Mountain. For a reasonable fee: I was picked up & dropped off at a convenient location and provided with all the outdoor gear I needed for the trip, i.e. snowshoes, walking poles, microspikes and crampons. The group was small - 4 of us total - which made for a more chummy experience. I love the outdoors and grew up camping in the summertime- but wanted to whet my appetite for snow sports and outdoor winter activities. This is perfect for a fit, active person who likes the outdoors and wants to try different things out before committing to purchasing equipment. Having the proper gear prior to these excursions is crucial and owning it can become expensive. This is a happy medium where you can try things out before making the commitment. If you get a good group dynamic, you can end up with built-in hiking buds, which is a huge bonus :) I cannot recommend Gear To Go Outfitters enough for renting outdoor gear and especially for their guided trips. I think this will be the first of the many and have definitely opened up an entire world of outdoor winter activities for me!

Called me names on the phone and refused to let me talk. 3. And actually, accused me of stealing stakes (that were never actually given to me) and ended up charging me MORE than the original rental. (which I will try to dispute) 4. Threatened to sue me for writing the yelp review... Told me that he is a lawyer and will sue me for everything. I've never had a business owner act so unprofessionally and in such an undignified manner. I would have gladly updated this review with a positive if he had approached this in a fair, polite manner. Instead, he insulted, threatened and even charged me more money because he had the ability to. He used the excuse of "damaged items" (btw, one of our tents came with a hole patched with scotch tape), and claimed we stole stakes from the tents. When I told him that we never received stakes, he flippantly told me "Well you signed the delivery papers, it's not my problem! Why don't you look around harder, check your car!" ... we had never received stakes. He then proceeded to charge me $163 for the "stolen" stakes. I am glad I had the thought to record the entire phone conversation. I only wish Yelp had an option to post the recording... There are many other places to rent your tents from, save yourself the time, money, and after-trip stress. They are thieves...

My husband tried HOKA, New Balance, and Adidas shoes and ended up having trouble deciding between two. Kasey helped him consider price/appearance to complete his decision! She was also excellent at engaging in conversation and providing informative, friendly service. We were in and out of the store in probably 20 minutes with a new pair of shoes/socks for little over $100! Darien Running Co was an excellent stop during our weekend away from NYC. Everyone has been friendly and they have a nice selection of typically popular running shoes and accessories. They also have a bit of a running community with occasional product tests/races/practice runs etc. On the other hand, they have a practice which I can only characterize as annoying but perhaps necessary from their point of view. Unlike every other running store I've ever been to, they REQUIRE you to wear a new pair of socks off their rack when you try on shoes. They emphasize that they will be "discounted" but it was not clear to me what the price was of the socks I was directed to (i later found out they were over $18 and the "discount" was about $5...so in other words, I was paying $13 just to try on shoes). I get why they do this. I mean, once you find a shoe you like, you can likely get it online cheaper and i'm sure people just come in to try stuff on and then want to leave. This is a way to force people to pay for something. But, I like to support small and local businesses so I would not do that. However, not allowing me to wear a clean pair of socks (or even having standard "try on socks" like most stores do for customers), I feel is a bit...well..annoying.
