I wasn't sure where to begin with funeral planning until a relative had suggested using Butterworth, seeing her great experiences with them through various family members who had used their services. While I initially spoke with Nikola, I eventually ended up working with Kendra, who was incredibly patient with my very difficult family; Kendra worked double the hours when meeting with my family and worked her butt off in trying to help us find a Cantonese Buddhist monk who could assist with handling the entire flow of the ceremony. During our meeting, my indecisive elders kept changing their minds after making decisions and legitimately drove some to rip our hair out. I thank Kendra for remaining calm and collected while chaos ensued between family members. While Kendra is a newer member of Butterworth, her years of experience in this industry was demonstrated through her professionalism and I'm grateful to have worked with her throughout this very challenging time in my life. Every step along the way, Kendra checked in to ensure no mistakes were made and always accommodated to my family's ever-changing requests. On the day of, she was fantastic about making sure all our needs were met. Even when I gave her the nod to close the casket and my grandmother ran over because she didn't want the casket to close, Kendra immediately knew what to do and kept it open so my grandmother could truly have her final moment with my grandfather. I knew we were on a time crunch and honestly none of us wanted to say goodbye, but eventually it had to be done. Kendra was incredibly respectful when everyone was so emotional. Butterworth was definitely the more expensive option while we were shopping around but I had a great experience with them and see why my relative had recommended this particular funeral home. You essentially get what you pay for. Thank you, Kendra, for providing us with great service.

My aunts hired this funeral home to bury my great grandmother and my brother hired this funeral home to bury both of our aunts. My excellent experiences are largely due to Barbara Cannon's (Funeral Director Intern) professionalism, open-mindedness, sense of humor, and humongous heart. She's a true renaissance woman!!!!! Ask for Barbara if you call on Butterworth to help you. Btw, the Cremation Society Northwest is next door and Barbara also answers the phones on those calls. If you want to be hands off, they will take care of your details impeccably with utmost respect. But in death's regard, I'm like Little House on the Prairie old school. I feel it's my love-based obligation to be part of the transition when my relatives and friends pass on. I want to groom them, do their hair and make-up, dress them, give them one last spray of their favorite perfume or cologne, sing them their favorite song, just be with them before they're either presented in casket at their funeral service or before they're cremated. I want to make sure their favorite music can be played, their favorite flowers can be around, etc. There aren't many people now-a-days who feel the way I do or who want to do the things that I do for the dead. And there aren't many funeral homes that are sensitive or receptive to this -- they want to do their thing their way. Barbara is different so Butterworth is different. If you want to prepare your deceased, Barbara will make sure you have a private room to do it in. If you don't have your own, she'll bring you their assortment of cosmetics, hair brushes, etc. and she'll even help you with the dressing (you'd never know it but this woman is strong.) Barbara understands. She's interested in burial traditions in other other countries, in other cultures, etc. Arthur A. Wright Chapel (which is attached to the funeral home) is a sweet old-feeling chapel with a serene vibe. There's plenty of room for any type of service you'd like to have. They accommodate everything: Visitation, Memorial Service, Graveside Service, Chapel Service, Church Service, Committal Service, Special Gatherings. I wouldn't care if Butterworth were a few bucks more for burials or cremations, I'm a loyal customer regardless. Service extraordinaire. And they understand.

And the price is quite high, over $4000 just for a simple burial of cremains (cremation done out of state, not by Evergreen Waschelli) in a plot that the family already owns. And that's with name etching on an existing stone that's already in place, with no removal of the stone needed. I'm going there today and I'll bet that my mom's name is still not on the stone and that her obituary still won't be showing up on their website. Ugh

We were completely dismayed to find the area where they are buried, covered in about 5 inches of decaying maple leaves. I used my shoe and tried to kick away the thick layer of debris, trying to expose her grandparents name plates. After about 15 minutes, we gave up. When I returned home, I went online and filled out a form that was right on their website and told them how unacceptable this was to my mother, and asking for someone to please reach out to me after it had been cleaned up so that we could try again.. It has been two weeks and no one has reached out to me regarding my concern with the lack of upkeep. So perhaps next year, I will call them and make sure the area has been maintained before driving the hour and a half.

Don't hesitate…read more Limitless Sea Burials services is truly a gift to the community with limited options in the Puget Sound Area, and fitting our needs of an intimate boat for a smaller party, that was nice, professional, respectful, experienced with ash scattering and at a reasonable price. Service: Captain Miguel Suarez and wife, Marggiory, was compassionate, clear and flexible. They managed the boat and any services as needed. Communication and responses from the beginning to end was very clear and prompt. They offered different packages that you can modify to fit your needs. They were very flexible ( with time, date and needs), understanding, and kid friendly. They started their business right before COVID in the PNW, hence not many reviews yet. Environment: 48" yacht with 2 bathrooms that was very lovely and clean. Very comfortable and not dated compared to other options I found online. Max group capacity: 10 people ( excluding boat crew). KID FRIENDLY- remember to tell captain ahead ages so he can prepare appropriate sized life vests. We did not have a memorial video, so captain had map image of where we were going. Location for pick up/drop off, 2 options: A. Shilshole Marina, Dock X. Not as clearly marked in person ( park in the lot for Dock V- right before Little Coney Restaurant) The main address they give gets you to Dock I/H area. Clear pictures are sent ahead, though we were unfamiliar and did not park close enough. B. Elliot Bay ASH SCATTERING Location- was beautiful, calm waters, with views of Mt Rainier in background. Our ride out to location you can see Mt Baker and the other mountains, and we were able to spot porpoises, a seal, and jumping fishes. We went mid August on a Monday, 10:30-12:30pm. Following day, Miguel emailed us certificate of location and some casual photos Marggiory kindly took. Food and drinks: options to purchase or bring yourself. We brought our own and cannot review their food, but the images online looked good to me! Flowers: options to purchase or bring yourself. It was convenient not to carry vases with water and we spread the flower in the water after ash scattering, so it was nice not Media- Photography, tribute video to have on their TV and more available, check out the packages or ask. Payment: Venmo, cash, or check. You can ask for more options. Invoice sent prior, with payment prior the event.
