Extremely professional staff, immaculate facilities, and a well run, county owned, general aviation airport.

CHS is the international airport in Charleston…read more The most laidback airport I've ever experiences. It's small but mighty and is super easy to fly in and out of. Usually I'm filled with high anxiety at airports because of the normal hustle and bustle but this one was different. Definitely a stark difference from both FLL and MIA, which is where I flew in and out of for my flights here and back. You know it's a small airport when you arrive at departures and the sign to get dropped off says "All Airlines". There's a pretty good selection of food by the gates. They have water filling stations. Did I mention that they have *working* outlets by all the chairs at their gates. I put an emphasis on working because this is often a struggle to find at airpots I've been to. Overall, a five star experience at this airport.

It has pizza, a restaurant, and few others like Chick-fil-A. Not a ton of stuff nor does it need it. It has airplanes. Aiiiirrplanes!

I visit this airport often - both as the traveler and the one who is dropping off/picking up passengers. I frequently use the cell lot, and it is TINY. I seriously wish they would expand this space, as it is almost always difficult to find a spot, and there is no other "free" place to wait for passengers. As a traveler, I use the long-term lot frequently. The fee is now up to $10 a day, which is more than I paid in Indianapolis. The difference, though, is that Indy had a shuttle service and enough spaces to accommodate passengers. When I moved to CHS 3 years ago, parking was $7 a day. I can't figure out why the price has increased $1 per year, when nothing in the lot has changed. That said, I always feel safe walking to and from my car. There needs to be more spaces and a shuttle for this airport. It is getting too big to operate in the same way. Finally, the signage in/around the airport needs to be clearer. It is a small airport, but keep in mind that most people don't travel to this spot every day. They need some help navigating the area. Add some useful, reflective signage to help passengers enter/exit the airport safely.

Every flight was late. Yes every flight for my entire round trip. The connecting flights all of them. They also provided only water or coffee on the early flights (a soda would have been nice), well at least my flight. They are also very expensive for the comfort+ seating compared to a few years ago. Every flight was also overbooked or either filled to the max from people who had cancelled flights. There is more I could say but I am hoping this was a fluke week of traveling but if it keeps like this, I/ will start checking out other airlines. The positive was that the flight attendants and employees were polite and helpful.

After picking up 2 suitcases we went outside (one good suggestion we got from the wheelchair girls - don't get an Uber, go with a taxi to Summerville hotel, which we did). Now flying out of Charleston to Atlanta (and in our case switching to Alaska) still $35 for a suitcase, but the biggest problem - Delta refused to assign our suitcases to SAN, so arriving in Atlanta, we have to go out to carusel, to claim our 2 suitcases, then back to Alaska desk, to check in the suitcases again, go thru TSA screening again (well TSA Pre Check helped) and all the way to the gate, waiting for a boarding. I will put Delta Airlines together with American Airlines on a list of (if possible) Do Not Fly.
