A pro!! ask for her! -Dr. went over my x-rays in detail which was the first time this is happened in a long time. -spacious and contemporary space. Very welcoming I've always enjoyed going to the dentist & am really pleased that they were taking new patients. GET A SECOND OPINION! REVEW YOUR XRAYS! They performed crown and I was experiencing pain immediately...food getting stuck. i went back twice and they said nothing was wrong...just that it was an adjustment. I went to another dentist and indeed there was a space between the crown and the next tooth! They performed filling. MVMD also said I needed another crown on the same tooth on the opposite side. Now this was not stated when they did the first one! The new dentist just replaced the filling that has been there for years! read more

Firstly, the work they did was great. Dr. Birchfield is great. But... I had a bunch of work to be done and was set up on a payment plan, monthly payment to be deducted from my bank acct. First few months were great. Then I broke a tooth and had to have THAT added to the list. I expected the new payment to be an AUTO-PAY deduction as usual. I didn't catch that the first two 'new' payments were NOT deducted. They turned me over to collections! I tried calling, they never answered the phone. I left a message via MyChart, no response. I will happily pay what I owe for the work that was done, but will not be returning. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I have recently moved to the area and am trying to find a dentist. My first appt - I spent over an hour in their waiting room bc they insisted on getting my insurance pre approved before seeing me. I do not require pre authorization. I told them I did not have time for X-rays - only a cleaning as I actually have to work for a living and had only allocated 2 hours out of my day for this dentist appt. And I was late for my next client meeting bc they did not take my schedule into account. I see other reviews here about their front office - not listening to their customers about their coverage. If I could give this 0 stars I would. This place is such a scam, they ran my wisdom teeth removal under just my dental insurance, knowing damn well my medical insurance would've covered it, I set up a payment plan with them, they double charged me, and "couldn't give me back one of the payments" I called multiple times, they said they fixed it, and guess what... I keep getting charged. Dentcare is a little far, but the service was 1000% better, the dentist even called me to check in several days after my procedure. Really great dental practice. I had been really anxious about needing some work done -- especially the cost since I lack any insurance. I went to another dentist who quoted me over $10,000 for 3 crowns and mentioned tooth decay. Turns out he was lying. Mt. Vernon Modern Dentistry has a super clean office, the most up-to-date equipment and a really talented and caring staff. Very worth checking out their $59 new patient offer, which includes X-rays, cleaning and an exam. My new dentist Sara explained everything to me in a straightforward and honest way. And I'm signing up for their annual $119 offer that includes bi-annual cleaning and X-rays. This might sound like a paid advertisement, but it's not. I have never been seen at this dentist...because twice now I've had an appointment that they cancelled the day of the appointment. The first time was literally less than 2 hours before, and just today (15 Aug) they cancelled 6 hours prior. Apparently they don't have enough dentists to shift patients around. I visited this office for a set of x-rays and the dreaded deep cleaning. Everything seemed ok until the day of the service. I arrived at 845 am for my 900am appointment. While the person at the desk was great. I over heard a morning meeting being conducted. I have worked in the car business as a GSM, we all know what those meetings are about. However, we never let our customers hear what we talk about. The gentleman conducting the meeting was very loud about upsells and additional services. I get it, but as a consumer some of his comments were not appropriate. I will complete my service today and look to go somewhere else. That just rubbed me the wrong way. Went here six months ago - had a great (yet a little pricey) experience. Dentist was fantastic as was everyone else. This time was different. Had an appointment at 9:15 and was brought into a room by a hygenist who left without saying a word or updating me. By 9:40 I had not been informed or helped yet. I went back out to the waiting room so I at least could wait with my husband. Right after I step back in the waiting room the dentist came and spoke to me and recommended a $150 toothbrush along with x-rays (that I got 6 months ago). I understand x-rays are necessary, but I felt like I was being pressured into spending more money. The dentist left the room at 9:45a, and by 10:20 I still had not seen a hygenist. I feel more like I'm at a store than a dentist. Edit: I never went through with my appointment and my insurance company was billed $100. They mess up scheduling all the time, cancel appointments last minute, don't call you back, and cannot even seem to figure out how their schedule works half the time and say that they will call you back later (which, as I already stated, they never do...) read more

This dentist place is a nightmare. Service and everyone that works there hates their job. The office manager is rude and the dentist there are not competent in their work. They are not helpful and do not like to use insurance. Insurance is there for a reason but this dentist place hates dealing with insurance and only prefers cash. They make that known when you are trying to get your teeth fix. They like to just pass you on over to another dentist place instead of doing their job. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. Also they will screen your call when they don't want to deal with you. Just plan rude. Very disappointing dentist visit. Came for a regular appointment and cleaning - ended up waiting for 2.5 hours. I understand it was a busy day, but that's way too long to be at the dentist for a regular appointment. The Dental assistant who took my x-rays was wonderful but the dentist seemed unsure in what he was telling me. He told me I had 3 cavities that needed to be filled but didn't show me where! They finally rushed when I told them I needed to be somewhere (I was frustrated and had been waiting long enough) and the DA (not a hygienist) did my cleaning in the last 10 minutes. He was nice but the cleaning I received after waiting so long was not great. Update: after this visit, I went to a different dentist and received much better service and care. Additionally the dentist was very transparent with my scans and health. And turns out I didn't have any cavities after all! read more

Came in for a whitening of teeth process. Was not explained the procedure nor the chemicals used on my teeth. Have been in uncomfortable pain all day. I called the they did not even offer a refund They're new they seemed too focused on money. We spent as a family total $750 never again a We are both in pain. read more

Let me start by saying I have taken terrible care of my teeth and have seen many dentists and they've all been terrible and rude (my last one did a deep cleaning with no lidocain shots or local numbing; just an hour of sheer pain). I finally had to go into a dreaded dentist when I got a tooth infected and these folks were the closest that took my insurance. While I hate going to the dentist in general, these folks make it as pleasant as one can get. The staff are all very friendly and the dentists/hygienist are VERY non-judgmental and polite. When talking about how bad my teeth there's no making me feel terrible about their condition, it's more of a "Here's where they're at, here's what needs to be done, where do you want to start?" Since they were so nice we took my kid, who is terrified of dentist, and he did well with them. They were very gentle and did their best to help relax him since they could see he was stressed. The assistant even tried to get him to talk about WW2 battleship to take his mind off of it as that's something he's big into. I'm not going to talk about pricing or anything like that because dentists are expensive no matter where you go and then it's really up to insurance if they want to help make it any less god-awful in price. With dentistry, the only thing you can really worry about and make a choice on is the quality of the staff and I'm very glad we found this place. read more

TL;DR: I was misdiagnosed with six cavities. I sought a second opinion and I only had one cavity. They may be over diagnosing and overcharging patients for procedures. UPDATE: They billed my insurance $972 FOR A CLEANING. A STANDARD CLEANING. So my initial suspicions of them over charging patients are correct. Please save yourselves and do not go to this dentist. I cannot emphasize this enough. I wish I could give them no stars. +++ I had an, interesting experience at this dentist in October 2019, to say the least. I went in for a standard cleaning, which should have taken me more than 1 hour, but I was there for 2.5 for some reason. The x-rays took forever, I feel like they were training new people which is understandable and I tried to be patient but after a while I became slightly annoyed. (I'm someone who has a bit of anxiety about the dentist, so I dont like spending too much time there.) Here's the interesting part. Like I said, I went in for a cleaning and I had suspicion that I had a cavity so I wanted to get that checked out too. After my exam, I was told that I had 6 cavities. SIX. This startled me, and honestly didn't make sense at all. They tried to schedule me for fillings - but since I did not enjoy my experience I choose not to go back there for the fillings because I knew I needed to be more comfortable and relaxed. About a month later, I went to a different dentist for a second opinion on my cavities. Like I said, I knew I probably had a cavity. But 6 just did not sound right to me. The new dentist told me that I only had 1. Obviously, I was shocked and relieved. I even asked him if he was sure and he said yes, only 1 small cavity that would be very simple to fill and that my teeth and gums overall were extremely healthy. HE LITERALLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD SAY I HAD SIX CAVITIES. So - my concern about this office is that they may be overdiagnosing patients and in turn, charging them for procedures that they dont need. If I had to pay to get 6 cavities filled (even with insurance) I would have been spending a lot of time, money, and discomfort in the dentist chair. Thankfully I was wise enough to listen to my gut and seek a second opinion. I saved money and ended up with a better dentist. So, just be careful. read more

Dr. Chaudhry, DDS. team and staff were great. I have not seen a dentist in some time due to negative experience at a different office in Old Town. The office is bright and clean. The dentist sat down with me before taking me back to examine to share my concerns and explained each procedure. Before my cleaning, medical billing came into my room to explain my cost after insurance. They made sure this was affordable before proceeding. I appreciated that I could fill out papers online and staff called before my appointment to confirm that my insurance was accepted by the office. I made an appointment for my husband before leaving. The staff heard that I work for a non-profit and provided me with 2 large bags of toothbrush kits to provide to my clients. This is an appreciated gesture as my agency serves underserved populations and toothbrushes are commonly requested item. The only issue I had during my appointment, was that during my cleaning there was a bit more water spraying on my face than I would have liked during my cleaning read more

I went in for my routine 6 month exam in which they found two cavities. They fixed both cavities on the spot but as the numbing medication wore off later in the day I had pain (which I had just assumed was from the pressure on that location of my mouth by having two fillings). Well here I am a year later with the same amount of pain. So I finally decided to get over my fear that this place instilled in me and go visit a different dentist. NOW I am being referred for a root canal due to a crack that this place created in my tooth by using too much pressure and drilling too deeply to fix the cavities! I AM ANNOYED TO SAY THE LEAST!! You have to call and make sure they get records from previous dental visits. Its just very unprofessional. Stay away from this place. Dental personnel are rude and insist in deciding the treatment you will get as a patient, taking the decision power away from you. Your opinion as a patient is irrelevant. You show up for an annual dental exam and regular cleaning and mid-way through the appt they tell you they will do an in-depth cleaning instead. Conveniently enough they do it after the exam portion is over when you have no choice of following-up w/ another dentist because of insurance limits. They even want to replace all previous fillings with new ones. The hygienist was very rude and condescending, showing no concern for the patient and making you feel very uncomfortable with her caustic remarks. The dentists get very defensive when you speak negatively of their employees, but will never explain for the rationale nor apologize for their employees inappropriate behavior. The hygienist experience was a very painful one whereby the pain and numbness of the anesthetic lasted for almost three days. The doctors are young and appear to be inexperienced, even immature. Out of nowhere, they insisted on replacing a filling; I went to another more experienced dentist for a second opinion and he was baffled, unable to explain the rationale for their actions. They also insist on spreading out the treatment with as many appts as possible, usually every three months, taking a toll in your finances. They behave as if they have a monetary interest in mind. They get borderline hostile if you demand straight answers and refuse their getting around the subject. Watch out! read more

My rate is (3) Mt Vernon Dental FAILED to tell me as the patient regarding the financial part regarding my BC insurance CLEARLY in not accepting dental on my BC card ahead of time than at the last minute or there was a mishap on my end??? My point is the Receptionist was not helpful to make this clearly than to do their CYA policy and not helpful to me than to laugh at me. If it was clearly explained correctly on both ends ahead of time to me I think than to speed read it and listen to a idiot financial advisor vs taking the time out to elaborate this carefully to patient in a understanding this would been done ahead of time on both ends correctly vs incorrectly. I think we both would have been clearly on the same book to a compromise if that makes sense!?? I'm highly disappointed with Mt Vernon Dentistry and the changes, policies it has become. I don't recall it ever changing in my book unless I failed to read the fine prints if I did it's my fault. I get it everyone is doing their jobs but doing too much of their CYA than to be honest with their patients. My final point is I've gone to Dr Solier at Sherwood Hall for many years my BC insurance covered entire dental procedures in BC card. I'm highly disappointed all I ask is please make it Crystal Clear to me and your patients all I ask is let's work together so we both are in a clear agreement than to say to me oh by the way I told you so!! My stars is not based on the Dentist at all, Dr Chaudhry was very friendly and knowledgeable and I would visit him again for sure. I made an appt for my son online and I filled out the paperwork online as well. I'm not sure if it asked about insurance or not, but front desk always double checks anyway right? I did not find out that they don't accept my sons insurance until we we're already done with the exam and x-rays. Problem. I was an office manager for a dental office for seven years, you never confirm an appt let alone take a patient back without verifying insurance, and if none was entered, you make sure they are aware of it because they will have to pay. I should have known better honestly, and checked myself but it just slipped my mind. Their website names a few insurances they accept and says "and more" so there is no sure way of knowing other than calling them or your insurance and making sure, so, call and make sure before you get work done and are blind sided. Side note: I stopped working to go back to school and my husband is self employed so our kids have Virginia Medicaid. They do not accept at this office, which I find very strange. Of course they can take any insurance they want, but I think every dentist (and Physician) on Richmond Highway (at least the ones surrounding them) accepts Medicaid, including the specialists. Update*** I double checked the online form, it never asks about insurance. So their forms don't ask, and their front desk didn't either. read more

He even gave me a tour of the new facility! He has a great team. Bryce - special shout out for helping me through the xrays, as annoying as they can be. The entire team of members are all top of the line professionals, with superb workmanship, artistry and state of the art equipment. A CEREC Milling Unit (for same day crowns & implants), 3D Imaging, other great equipment, and TV (turn up and shout out to Divorce Court for easing my mind! )for patients to watch while waiting, or just to relax, if they wish. The fees are very reasonable, and affordable for all incomes, and they will work with you. Dr. Chaudhry is very caring, compassionate, and patient with a desire to make his patients happy with their results. On top of that, he is super super super nice - the staff as well. The location is ideal, there's plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Just don't mess that fresh pearly white smile up with a glass of wine (it's walking distance). Seriously, if you need quality work, at an affordable price, then you need to call Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry to set up an appointment. I recently went to Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry because I was long overdue for a cleaning. From the moment I called to make a new patient appointment with Dr. Taddessee, I was met with amazing hospitality and fantastic customer service. The facility itself is clean and spacious and they have a fantastic deal for new patients looking to get a cleaning and x-rays done. Every single staff I spoke with made me feel very welcome, from Oscar helping me get set up to the dental hygienists who explained each step to me and of course my dentist, Dr. Taddessee himself. I had such a positive experience that I've since referred my family and friends there. Nobody particularly enjoys going to the dentist, but Mount Vernon Modern Dentistry sure make it as much of a pleasant experience as possible. Best dentist and team in the area. I didn't have insurance and had a cracked tooth, and the receptionist and office mgr showed me how I could get discounts. I came to this office as a new patient over a year ago and got a cleaning. I waited forever to be seen after completing my x-rays. Fast forward I am back for my 6 month cleaning and I am told that I need root canals on my two front teeth (which I know is false because my dentist back home completed my fillings) I drove 45 minutes to my old dentist for a second opinion because I knew it was false. You got it. My old dentist was clueless as to what would even spark needing a root canal. Watch your pockets people. read more

Do not go here! They wanted to give me everything they had and charge me as much as possible when all I needed was to have my crown recement it on my mouth. They told me things that were not true about my crown they told me that I had not had a root canal on the tooth and I had had a root canal on the tooth. I did not need the services they were off and they told me I did even though I told them no I did not. They told me I needed more services than I did. I went to another dentist who told me very much otherwise and I had my crown recement it with no issues. This place just wants you to pay a lot of money because it look modern. Also the x-ray person loudly shouted about my health issues and shared them with other patients in the office which goes against the Which totally goes against FERPA! I think that something they ever heard of because they kept talking about my health issues around other patients. Even when I asked him to stop they kept talking about it. Do not go here! read more

I went to two other dentists who told me differently and had no idea WHY this dentist told me about the treatment I "needed" though one speculated that they were in it for the money.
