I will be entirely honest... My mouth is a wreck. I have had a number of cavities ever since growing up and It hasn't slowed much since. Last week I had a badly infected tooth that decided it was time to put me in pain so I called Dr Tran. The front desk lady could sense the pain in my voice and managed to get me in the very next day, so far so good. When I went into the office, it was very small yet cozy. Makes the dentist somewhat relaxing in a sense. Dr Tran said she got a brand new x-ray machine the previous week and would need to take a few pictures, fine. She then gave me the bad news that my tooth couldn't be salvaged and it would have to come out. We did the extraction and I went home with a fake tooth (that was a hit with my friends when i took it out and showed them haha.) She managed to get me in on an appointment Saturday when her specialist came to the office and they replaced the missing tooth with a dental implant. Its been 3 days now and I don't have any pain at all - which I was fully expecting - and have my follow up visit early next week. Overall great experience and I'm excited to get my new tooth put on this implant thing. Dr Tran was a really sweet lady and talks very quiet so you need to pay attention a bit but it relaxes you. I would definitely recommend her if you have a tooth that needs coming out like mine did. read more

First and last time going to this Dental office. It is evident their Doctor's make a large percentage of their money based on commission of a percentage of the work they do. They are incentivized to charge you and the insurance company as much as they can with unneeded work in order to maximize their profits. I wanted to try out a new Dental office and came here for routine exam and cleaning (which i do every 6 months routinely). I have not had any issues 6 months prior after another Doctor examining my teeth with X-rays (as well as no issues two exams prior). I brush twice a day and floss daily. Unfortunately, after coming to this office, Dr. Leon told me i needed to replace most of my fillings and had a list of other treatment plans she wanted to do including drilling up to 8 teeth further! This all totaled to about 2600 dollars worth of work (my insurance covers up to 1,000 a year). But not worries! Cause they will work with you to only do half of it this year and save the rest for next year! Yay! They're so great LOL *Sarcasm*. Funny coming from someone who takes care of their teeth and have no signs of problem with other doctor's prior to this her and this office. Dr. Leon is more interested in the commission she's receiving for the work performed at the expense of your poor teeth that will be drilled up. Unfortunately, this one exam will be all this office will be receiving from me, i will be acquiring a new office. I will also report Dr. Leon's over exaggerated and fraudulent dental recommendation of 2600 dollars to the American Dental Association and Virginia Board of Dentistry for fraud. I will be coupling this with my recent dental exam copies and X-rays from other Doctors recently that show no work being needed. I would like to keep honest peoples hard earned money in their pocket and not have their teeth drilled needlessly for commission pay for the benefit of Dr. Leon. I would also advise stay away from this office entirely due to their payment structure to their Doctor's of paying them commission on a large percentage of the work done. This incentivizes them to rack up the bill and perform as much work as they can. I made an appointment for a bi-yearly checkup after my SO had one 6 months ago and turned out ok. The staff seemed friendly and straight forward. There actually seemed to be a ton of staff for such a small office but most everyone seemed engaged in something. Different than my previous dentist, the Doctor did the cleaning. There was a person walking me through the initial steps and xrays however they didn't do any cleaning. Maybe this was because it was my first appointment. They had some higher tech to scan for mouth cancers and fluoride treatments but didn't pressure me to do it. They seemed a smidge hesitant to direct me for an answer when I asked some questions which I can understand tho I just wanted to know the procedure details;) I didn't end up getting it done so can't speak to the experiences. They also showed me a video (on a tablet) about flossing. They found 3 cavities they called "surface" cavities which you never want to hear and that will cost more money but that's what preventative care is all about, I suppose. I will say my SO had 2 cavities on first appointment and 1 this time, so we're 3/3 them finding cavities...hopefully that ends or it seems a bit shady. But could be us. How much do you trust someone I guess. The cleaning was quicker than I am used to as well, however, it felt just as good. The one gripe I have is that I didn't feel they were doing a very good job with the suction tool and it's a big contributor to my personal comfort on the chair. I kept awkwardly swallowing and hoping they might take the hint but no. I couldn't really say anything with scrapers in my mouth so toughed it out. I do worry when I have cavity fillings tho, if the same thing happens and I'm numb from painkiller. In addition to that, they didn't really give me much advice on what I was doing wrong or right. Just put a tablet in my hand (I do floss, so not sure why) and said I have some cavities. Esp for 1st appointment when you're looking at them as much as they're looking at you this was weird. Finally, this didn't happen in my appointment but when I went in before with my SO, there was some drama in the front office between the dentist and the front staff. The dentist was trying to help schedule someone and the front office said it was their job and to let them do it. Awkward to sit (even unrelated) and hear. They do have a TV in the waiting area which is nice, tho they seem to watch it, so don't really ask if you care what they're watching;) I recall also when I was at the office before they called the service provider because it was out and complained their patients needed it but then the next time I was there, were commenting vocally about the program, I remember thinking "their patients, sure";) Anyway overall pretty good first experience, will go back and take it from there. I have never written a bad review before, but if could give -5 stars I would. First of all, they definitely don't have the latest technology. They still do their x-rays on film instead of digitally. But even more than that, I went in because I had pain in the back of my mouth, which turned out to be wisdom teeth that were coming through. The dentist wanted to take them out one at a time instead of all together, so I decided to go to an oral surgeon instead for the procedure. When I called to get a copy of my x-rays from the dental office, they were really sketchy about it. They said the dentist was out of the country and since she keeps all of the dental records at her house they couldn't get to them for another week. Also, even after she gets back they didn't know when they could get them to me because "you never know what can happen." She said that they don't keep copies of records/x-rays in their office, so if the dentist is gone that's just it - no alternatives. That doesn't make any sense to me. Now I have to get new x-rays by the oral surgeon that my insurance won't cover (my insurance pays for one set of x-rays a year) because the dentist office can't/won't give me a copy of my x-rays. It wouldn't have even been so bad, but the receptionist was really rude throughout the entire processes. I just held my tongue, but I will never go there again and would never recommend this place to anyone else. read more

Dr. Tran and the rest of the staff are the best Dentists! I have been coming here since I was a kid and I have had an overall wonderful experience being a patient. They made sure my teeth were in great shape. I even had braces for over 3 years and my teeth have not looked better! If you have not visited here yet and looking for a dentist, I cannot recommend this practice enough! The staff is so friendly and make sure you are taken care of each time. My sister usually feels very uncomfortable and intimidated by most doctors but she is surprisingly very comfortable with Dr. Tran. 5 stars for sure read more

I've been coming here for years and their front desk staff had always been incredibly friendly and pleasant. They speak Spanish and are open on Saturdays and can often schedule an appointment for the same day, and if not, within the same week. I usually see Dr. Leon, who is very friendly and caring. Unfortunately, she only comes in Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today I saw Dr. Tran and he is also super friendly. Their hygienists are also amazing. Overall everyone is amazing and I don't understand why they got bad reviews. My entire family comes here and we all love Dr. Leon. read more

This is the worst dentist office I have ever been to. Where do I start. 1. The young Spanish woman who identified herself as the office manager takes pride in making simple requests as difficult as possible. I wish I knew her name because I would be glad to tell you.Short story shorter, I needed a referral for a specialist. This young lady said she could not give me one because my regular dentist is on maternity leave. I asked, well who is the dentist in her place, can't he or she give me one? Young lady responds, "No I'll have to call her at home", I will call you in a day or two. Really? How did she know that this wasn't urgent(which it was)? When I told her that i was dissatisfied with the service she hit me with the Kanye shrug, and rolled her eyes. She is a real Ms. Know-it-all, don't question my authority type broad. When I finally realized the game they were playing it was too late. She insisted I had a cavity that they filled and insurance paid for. I had the X-ray in my hand and said show me the cavity, if I had a cavity it would show up here right? where is it I asked? She responded "Sometimes they fall out"..... 2. Dentist number one(let's call her) one more than one occasion billed my insurance companies for services that they did not preform. When I enquired about these services I was told her time was too valuable to correct the inferior work she had preformed the previous day, and she would be billing the insurance company twice. 3. The other young man who also identifies himself as the office manager called me numerous times after I informed them that I would not return stating that my cavities would only get worse if I didn't return for a check up. I told him that I had never had a cavity in my life and therefor would not need to be treated. His response was "That isn't what my records show". Wow! I did say they billed my insurance for work they hadn't performed right? Meanwhile I have found a respectable dentist that has said my teeth are in reasonably good shape and no mention of cavities or work to maintain them. If your thinking about coming here, don't do it your insurance company will thank you. As I write this I'm feeling my tooth and wondering if the filament they put over my tooth was necessary or a come up at my expense. read more

I agree with Jason M. This place is very disorganized and no one communicates. I made an appointment because they offer Saturday hours. I was pleased with the care I recieved during the first few appointments. The dentist actually came to the office on a Sunday for a dental emergency. The hygenist is great, after that, things went down hill fast. I returned to have fillings replaced. Before the dentist began I mentioned that two or more dentist had adivised me to not to replace a very large silver filling unless I had problems with the tooth. She looked at the xray and never said a word. After drilling the tooth for that seemed like 30 minutes or longer she said "the nerve is exposed, you have bacteria". Long story short I'm now dealing with a root canal and crown. While I understand that this was possible I have never had a dentist that looked at an xray and not discussed the possibilities of problems before hand. Most try to consider your financial situation. After the fact this dentist claimed that she discussed everything, this was not true. In addition the part of the tooth broke the day before my appointment. I pointed this out, she claimed it was the temp filling not the tooth. Five minutes into the drilling I found time to remove the suction hose from my mouth. I touched the tooth with the tip of my tongue and found that the tooth was in fact broken. When she was confronted she replied "OH, I'm sorry you're right" She just finished the root canal. I have scheduled and appointment with another dentist office to finish the build up and crown. I refuse to spend another penny at this office. read more

I cannot warn you enough about this place. The last two reviews have hit very close to home, particularly the lack of communication from the employees and their unwillingness to listen to you. Jessica (I believe that is the young Spanish woman Jason M. is referring to) has the worst attitude in the world: she will ensure that any hesitation on your part in scheduling an appointment is met with eye-rolling, under the breath remarks, and general rudeness. Stephanie is a little better, but even she lacks the patience to explain anything in detail or walk you through the most basic information. I'm sorry you're stuck at an office for 8 hours a day, Jessica and Stephanie, but please, direct your anger toward the appropriate parties, not unsuspecting patients. At least wait to talk about patients until after they've left the office... You'll initially be fooled because new patients are handled with great care and attention, but after two to three appointments, get ready for late arrival times by dentists, personal problems exploding in the work atmosphere, and general confusion as to what procedure you're having done. This place is an organizational disaster and an emotional mess waiting to implode. Employees seem to talk to dentists in whatever manner they choose and you get a front row seat to witness it all unfold before you. I want to especially warn you about Dr. Tran. She's a sweet woman, in all honesty, but she has no regard for appointment schedules or other people's time. I came to this office after reading reviews for another dentist who was highly regarded; however, by some great misfortune, I was referred over to Dr. Tran. She has been at least 30 minutes late to every appointment I have had with her, and once I was even told the she was running "2 hours behind..." I sat and waited for those 2 hours, which turned out to be 3 hours and then some. Needless to say, I was extremely angry and my entire day was spent at the dentist's. I'm usually a very patient and understanding person and I don't take pride in writing awful reviews because I understand the impact it can have on a business and consequently, someone's livelihood; however, I have had enough of this place and the people who work there. I had a first time consultation with Dr. Leon regarding a crown I need on one of my molars. Dr. Leon was friendly and explained the process and answered all my questions. I had to go in for an emergency appointment on a Saturday and they saw me as soon as I called so that's a plus in my book. This was the second dentist I had tried that day, as the first one we visited I walked out of after 30 minutes of incompetence. My first impression of Telegraph Dentist was similar to D.K. as far as organization goes because of a miscommunication over insurance (the usual receptionist was out due to a family emergency, so a tech was filling in). However, Monday morning they called to check on me (which I have never had a Dr. do before) and had me come back in to secure a tooth that needed time to heal after a trauma. That's when I met Estefany at the front desk, and after inquiring about the insurance miscommunication and reimbursement claim I was going to have to file from the emergency procedure she made sure that she took care of everything. I didn't have to constantly call or hound her for updates, she kept me up-to-date and informed during the whole process and got my reimbursement within a few weeks. I am happy thus far with both the service Dr. Tran has provided as well as the efforts her office, especially Estefany has made to make my life a little easier. read more

I have been going here for 20 years. The receptionists are both pleasant, and helpful in providing me we appointments that suit my schedule. They also put in a fine effort to reduce my out-of-pocket expenses by getting all that they can from my insurance company. The dental aides have always done a fine job with my cleanings. I've had fillings and a crown put on there, and they are still holding nicely. My goal is to keep all of my teeth, and they serve me with that in mind. Frankly, I do not comprehend the negative comments regarding the receptionists in the posted reviews. I've sat in their waiting room for at least 50 visits over those years, and have only seen and heard them treat everyone well. read more

Moved here & chose to attend because of the proximity. I was getting my wisdom teeth removed & the dentist was bickering with the assistant while pulling out my tooth while being awake. I saw and heard her pull my tooth out of my mouth then she pulled so hard it fell to the ground. My family has spent more than enough money here and the better service we deserve will never be given more than once or twice. Bad dentists shouldn't be in service like this one.
