Walking into the Mountain Home Inn always feels like a treat. Been coming here for years :D The face-lift, while still in progress, is looking great. With the kitchen gone, the prepared ham & brie baguette with a cold Kolsch beer hit just right after some time in the sun on the mountain. The view always makes the Mountain Home Inn such a magical place. Live music with Wolff is a major bonus to the Inn! The staff is always so welcoming and personable. Feels like home. A Mt. Tam staple, for sure!

I stopped here a few months ago on my visit to San Francisco from Long Beach for the weekend. I was trying to make it to the best sunset lookout. I wanted to leave this review for Albert as he was incredibly kind and helpful and made sure my short visit was perfect. Thank you, Albert! And thank you for the sunset spot recommendations.

Mill Valley, Ca. This is actually a pretty amazing place to eat if you're up on the mountain and hungry. There are no other choices so it is fortuitous that the food is so good. It is pricey, but you can always try your luck down the hill where the price options of Mill Valley are no better. Our server greeted us with alacrity. We even changed tables once to her dismay but she remained happy that we were there (Her Words). The burger here is a candidate for one of those "Best Of" lists. Mixing the ground chuck with lean brisket gives the meat an exceptional flavor, the bun holds up to the juices very capably, and the chef uses lettuce to help accomplish this. The flavor of the bacon on the burger was awesome and the avocado was was a generous portion. The burger was cooked medium but may have went a bit beyond that once removed from the grill. I like it that way but it did cause the patty to shrink down to a half inch. It still had a large diameter, but this would have been a perfect burger if the patty were but a quarter inch more thick, The fish tacos were of a style I wasn't expecting, and they were delicious . I commend the chef for offering this up apart from the traditional. The grilled sea bass inside were a good size and cooked perfectly. The mint drinking water was a nice touch. The fresh spinach salad was oh so good. Sweet potato fries are an option that should be had, they are great. The view made for a great evening dining adventure.

Went here in the afternoon for a little drink and snack with high expectations and a recommendation from a friend. Well we bought a charcuterie board for $34 dollars and it was TERRIBLE. 4 olives, packaged crackers, orange cheese and a few slices of salami. absolutely insane price for what we got and so disappointed. wont be coming again. they said the kitchen was closed but they could have at least served it on a plate instead of a box. only good thing here was the amazing view.

Sweet fresh flowers on the tables.

Ask the Community - Mountain Home Inn

Hello! Are dogs allowed on the patio over looking the pretty views? And any chance there are patio heaters on chilly days?

Yes! Mountain Home Inn is super dog friendly, even allowing dogs to stay at the hotel!

    Is there wifi?

Yes, they do. Just ask a staff member and they give you the password.

    Open for lunch on weekends?

    Yes

I have reservations for this place in a couple weeks and now after reading more Yelp reviews am really concerned my experience is going to suck!! Should I keep the reso and hope for the best?

It's not the Ventana Inn. It's not the Post Ranch Inn. It's the Mountain Home Inn, and it's a lovely place, with nice people running it..

Does the Inn have an elevator? Which floor would you recommend staying on?

    Hi. It actually does.

It was the Monday of MDW and we got seated indoors after only a 5 minute wait. The interior was equally charming with its dim lighting, taper candles, timbered ceilings, and impressive array of antique decor. It really felt like we were transported to an old English pub. Our cozy table was right next to the fireplace, which was delightful on a foggy day. For drinks, my partner and I both opted for the Guinness 0.0 (non-alc), which was very nice. For food, I ordered the Beef Wellington, which is something I'd always wanted to try. My partner went with the English Dip Sandwich, which our server had recommended. The Beef Wellington exceeded my expectations! It was perfectly medium rare and I loved the flakey pastry dough with mushroom filling. Although it was pricey, I think it was worth it. However, my partner was less excited about the English Dip. The sandwich was pretty mediocre and the horseradish flavor was entirely lost. Service was friendly and liesurely, which was fine since we weren't in a rush. I also took a peek at the (dog-friendly) patio, and it was beautiful - full of greenery and pink flowers. Overall, we had a nice experience at the The Pelican Inn! Would happily return to try more food items and enjoy the cozy ambiance.

There was oat milk and soy milk so we had cereal with nuts and berries, wheat toast with peanut butter, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee/ tea. Pearlessence Bed & Breakfast is more than anything you'd expect from your regular run of the mill inns. It is absolutely divine...the perfect place to experience wine country and relaxation.... Finding the place after the sun had set proved to be a bit tricky..it is out there people..way out there...where streetlights don't go. We were a little nervous about being so far out in the country at first...but as soon as we pulled up the long drive to the wide open space in back, we were instantly relieved by the beauty and the peacefulness of it all. We parked...right next to a vineyard. The air was crisp and clean and fresh, and I could not take my eyes off of the blanket of stars above. It had been too long since I had seen a sky like that... Linda and Greg met us outside with big, warm, welcoming smiles. They showed us around the room...all of the hidden treasures. OK...let me tell you about the room. It's pretty brand new. There is only one room with a king size bed and a pull out sofa. The bed is heated. That's right. It has a little dial on both sides to heat the bed. The beautiful slate floors...are heated. Not a typo. They are heated!! There is a beautiful gas fireplace controlled by a remote...a rainfall shower for two...I mean. I could go on and on. This place is where it's at you guys. seriously. Really romantic. Out the window...you can view a Field of grapevines in the morning while you pick up a basket filled with local apple juice, pastries, salmon, french press coffee..you name it...it's in there. For further amenities and pictures, please check out their website: http://www.pearlessenceinn.com/amenities.html Another great thing about staying here isn't just about the amenities...it's about the people. I cannot tell you how much we adored Greg and Linda. They are incredibly welcoming, full of great information concerning wine, the area, etc. And...they totally respect your privacy. You don't have to worry about constantly running in to them, or feeling uncomfortable around them...they know how long to stay..and they know when to leave. In fact, we enjoyed their company so much, we wished we would have spent more time with them. I really liked the location of the place. You could, in three days, see a lot of Napa, Sonoma, and my personal favorite Russian River/Dry Creek Valley. Honestly, for the money, the location, and the beautiful views, I can't imagine anyone would go anywhere else. We will be back...often.

I chose Pearlessance River Inn as our B&B while planning my tour de pour through Sonoma County…read more We've done wine country every other year so we wanted to flavor Sonoma's beer offerings as supposed to Napa's wines. Lagunitas, Russian River and Bear Republic were all the must hit breweries on our trip. I called Linda a few weeks in advance and got us a two nighter. I mapped everything out in advance and Sebastopol was a great location in between the breweries. Linda was professional and very accommodating as she suggested other local microbreweries that we can try. When we drove through Sebastopol, we noticed tons of vintage shops. My wife was in heaven! I'm there for the booze and apparently she's there for the old knick knacks! Whatever makes her happy right? Anyhoo, we arrived at Pearlessance around 6:00 p.m. and was immediately captivated by the colors of the leaves from the vines. Who knew that a B&B was tucked in the middle of an actual vineyard right? Greg greeted us and gave us a tour of the property. Before he left us alone, he asked what time we would like breakfast. We told him around 10 the next morning. At exactly 10 the next morning, we woke up to a light knock on our door with breakfast piping hot on our porch. We had a blast touring all of the breweries and buying vintage crap! We bought so much that we couldn't fit all of it in our lil Prius on our way home. Growlers of craft beer is definitely a priority to bring back to the Bay Area. We asked Greg if could leave this big wooden mirror that we bought until a later weekend and he was so gracious enough to keep it there for us. We came back as promised and Greg even helped us strapped the big wooden mirror onto the roof of our SUV. We had a wonderful experience at Pearlessance River Inn from the beginning to the end! We've stayed at a lot of B&Bs in the past and this is our favorite by a long mile. The single room makes it so intimate. I don't necessary enjoy waking up and eating breakfast with 10 other couples like it's a dining hall. Breakfast is brought to your room and hell, you could even eat breakfast naked if you wanted too! Don't hesitate! If you're reading this, don't waste your time looking at other places.

I'm not a huge B & B fan even though we've stayed in a few. We arrived at the predetermined time and location. Said location being San Pablo Harbor which is located near Richmond. The harbor has plenty of parking and it is safe to leave your vehicle. We waited in a small seating area near the Sailing Goat restaurant. Soon, the rest of our fellow guests arrived. We all chatted for a bit before our boat arrived to take us to East Brother Island. The boat named Lucretia was manned by our hosts Dre and Charity. They loaded the six of us and our bags, four people had to stay behind to be picked up shortly thereafter. Getting to the island was an adventure. The ride took about ten minutes. The island the lighthouse sits on is only 3/4 of an acre. It has three structures on it, a water storage tank and a cistern that is only fed by rainwater. There is no water supplied from the mainland. The lighthouse is a stately old Victorian house with a lot of character. The inside is decorated with period pieces. The first floor holds two guest rooms, a bathroom, the gift shop, dining room, and the kitchen. The ONLY shower that is in the house is located in the bathroom which is only accessible from the dining room. The two guest rooms share that bathroom. The second door holds the parlor, game room, and two guest rooms. The rooms are named for their view. We stayed in the San Francisco room which had an incredible view from the bedroom window. It also had its own toilet and sink. The bed and linens were very comfortable. At 4 p.m. Dre rings a bell that summons everyone to the roundtable on the grounds for champagne and charcuterie. Then at six he rings it again for dinner. Dre is the chef and Charity provides the table service. For dinner we had tomato bisque, salad with strawberries and almonds, Coc Au Vin Blanc with saffron rice and green beans, and cheesecake for dessert. All of the food was really good. For breakfast we had Dre's homemade quiche with potatoes and toast. There really isn't much, if anything, to do on the island. It was nice to socialize with the other guests but at times I was exhausted. Nothing against them that is just my personality. After breakfast Dre took us out to Walter's workshop and demonstrated the fog horn for us. Just the mechanics of it all was fascinating. Dre and Charity are incredible hosts. Dre will tell you a lot of Dad jokes which are hilarious. Overall we were on the island for 24 hours and it was an incredible experience. Probably a once in a lifetime experience.
