    Beautiful patio

Visited here again for the third time, not disappointed at all. Loved this place. Room is excellent, spacious, clean, comfortable and very reasonable. Beautiful patio. They don't have breakfast served in the community room any more because of COVID. There is a small fridge with all breakfast items in it . Also a toaster for bagel and muffins. The owner Ralph is very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Lovely little place just around the corner from the main strip of Point Reyes Station "downtown." Hidden around the bend with a gravel parking lot and several cute little rooms. The Victorian room was equipt with a queen bed, gas fireplace, spa and balcony. Great lighting, lots of windows , skylights and vaulted ceilings and ceiling fan, but it was a lot of work to shut all the blinds at night. The fireplace and spa are useful even in the summer because when the fog rolls in, it can still get cool. The private spa was nice for a bubble bath, and there is a public hot tub in the gardens below. Unfortunately the shower/toilet seperation was a flimsy door. Too bad they didn't spring for something more classy to fit the rest of the room. The bed must have been from the victorian ages bec ause it was so noisy. The mattress was comfy but any slight movement would cause lots of squeaking, enough to wake you up if you were just rolling over. The high bed make it difficult to get in and out of. The water was unfortunately not very hot out of the tap (sink, shower and spa included.) It took quite a while just to get warm water flowing. Luckily the summer isn't too cold. The breakfast was very complete with cereal, a bowl of fruit to select, coffees and teas, muffins and bagels and boiled eggs. The also allowo use of the fridge It was surprising to see large dogs roaming the downstairs. It caught me off guard. Definitely pet friendly. There's a cage of finches downstairs and a black kitty that roams outside. Its somewhat close to restaurants, gas and the lighthouse.

Beautiful quaint inn! We stayed in the Eastlake room. Ralph greeted us on a rainy day and brought us up to the cozy warm room. Walking distance to downtown where there are some great places to eat!! Bed was comfortable, room beautifully appointed. Small maintenance in the hallway needed (chandelier and Sheetrock ceiling) but THAT is all I could find to critique! Continental breakfast was nice too. Definitely recommend staying here!

Upon returning with a very achy body, I was dismayed to discover so many chemicals in the hot tub that my skin was hivey for over a week!

Creamer, coffee, tea, eggs, butter, english muffins, jellies, and fruit provided. Cute, boho style furniture with some shaker style pieces - very nicely decorated. Sheets and bedding very nice and comfy. Lovely white fluffy towels (bring your own robe - I was glad that I did!). Beautiful blue and white tiled bathroom with shower only - wonderful water pressure and hot water! Tony and Jan supply body wash, shampoo, and conditioner (Neutrogena Rainbath and Pantene at the time of my visit). Small wood-burning stove with logs and all the tools needed to keep a fire going. Wifi signal was great - I watched some Netflix and joined a Zoom meeting from my own computer and had no issues with either. Hot tub was great. Outdoor space to sit at a nice table with four chairs and a nice looking BBQ. I saw an elk roaming on the property, lots of quail and other birds (they have a pictorial guide of birds hanging by the front door right as you walk in). The yurt is on a gravel road. You pass the neighbor's sheep and horses as you drive in. Point Reyes Station is literally right around the corner - a 2-3 minute drive - with lots of food, great markets and shopping. Inverness is a 5-minute drive (if that). The yurt is very conveniently located. I passed Jan and Tony and Stella, their dog, on the way out one night - very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be thrilled when the opportunity comes to visit again!!

That recently changed thanks to the recent overnight accommodations provided by the Black Heron Inn. Located in Point Reyes Station, about a 5-minute drive from downtown, it's the perfect place to stay when exploring Point Reyes. I had done quite a bit of research on accommodations in the area, but the options seemed to either be way too expensive or way too "patchouli" for my taste. The Black Heron Inn was the perfect fit for me and my wife. They have three guest rooms, and due to the lack of availability of the other rooms, I selected the Grand View Suite. And what a "Grand View" it was. My strong suggestion is not to plan too much during the late afternoon because you'll want to open a bottle of wine and enjoy the view from the outdoor deck or the dining room table before heading off to dinner for some oysters. The clean and well appointed rooms have a small refrigerator, a small microwave, and a toaster as well as dishes and silverware, so make sure to bring some ready to eat food with you to store in the room since food is not provided. We personally picked up some breakfast savories and sweets from Brickmaiden Breads, and our mornings were set. Coffee is provided along with a Cuisinart Coffee maker. If you don't like your coffee black or enjoy creamers, be sure to pack some milk for the fridge. The proprietors are pretty hands-off when it comes to guest interaction (which is just fine), but they are very responsive if necessary. One thing I did learn while talking to them briefly was that they have a lot of repeat customers. Based on our recent stay, I can see why!

I've been to about 10 B&B's and this has been the worst. The breakfast is very simple (did I mention spartan?) and we didn't feel any love from the innkeeper. This Swedish B&B has 3 guest rooms. The Dalarna room is very spacious (and spartan) for a couple and a baby. They do suggest that you bring a crib, they will charge you for a mattress if it is damaged by the baby (meaning poop, pee, etc). You have to request a TV and a cute old guy will come and put a 12 inch flat-screen in your room. It seemed like he was struggling to put the all the cords together, he was mumbling something and I didn't understand what he said about the cable channels. I don't know why they don't just leave the TVs in the rooms, it seems like a hassle for the old man. He's the only one who could do it too, the lady innkeeper will not do it! There is a small private patio outside, too bad the seats were dusty and had cobwebs. The bathroom must be for tall Swedish people because I could only see my forehead when I looked in the mirror. If you're 5 foot like me, make sure you bring a stool! The weekday breakfast was lame. There was only one other couple with us that week. On day 1, we had muffins (that was excellent, by that way), granola, berries, weird crackers, and a tiny plate of very thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. On day 2, we had scones, granola, cantaloupe, watermelon, the same weird crackers, and again thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and cheese. There were only 2 pieces of watermelon and 2 pieces of cantaloupe so we asked for more. The innkeeper said they didn't have anymore watermelon but gave us 2 small pieces of cantaloupe. Really?? Just 2??? How sad. It seemed as if the innkeeper didn't like having guests or she's just angry. We asked for ice and she said, "What for?" We asked for extra washcloths since we were there for 3 days and she said, "Oh you you didn't prepare for the baby?" I asked for another bath towel and she was obviously irritated. She knocked on the door 10 minutes before the checkout time and angrily reminded us that check out time was at 11:00. I asked if we could stay for 1/2 an hour because my baby was still sleeping and she said, "No, you're baby has to sleep in the car. I have the cleaners here, they have to clean now." Then she gave me a long lecture about check out times but I tuned out. What a cold-hearted woman!!!! The cleaners weren't even done with the other rooms, why couldn't we stay until they were ready for our room?!?! I would recommend this place because the farmhouse is lovely. If you don't mind a small, spartan breakfast then this place is great! But I'm warning you, the innkeeper doesn't want to be bothered by paying customers. Don't ask for anything and you'll be fine!

First the nice things: lovely rooms with a good breakfast…read more But that is pretty much it - there is no service, in fact the innkeeper/owner is absent most of the time (no one at the desk for about 90% of the day) and when you DO see her, she barely hides her irritation at having to help you at all. We felt like unwanted guests rather than cherished customers, and were glad to leave. Other services were also absent - the beds weren't made, rooms not cleaned, there were notes all over the place with rules (no shoes, no cups on tablecloths, no kleenex in toilet) all of which were designed to make life easier for the inn-keeper. No rules were available for the benefit of the guest at all. The experience of a B&B where the innkeeper guides you towards activities, local treasures and insider information and a friendly warm demeanor is entirely absent from this place. Stay away.
