This aquatic center is close to my house. I am fortunate to be able to come here, at a whim. We came here on a Saturday, on Memorial Day weekend. The line was long to get in and it took a bit of time to get to the pool. There was lifeguards helping to check people in. I really helped a lot, because they took down the number of people you had, which helped paying inside faster. There is also a community center attached (a ways down,) to this building. I use to take my daughter here to do Karate. When you walk in, you can either take the elevator downstairs or walk. There are huge, clean bathrooms that are equipped with showers and bathing suit dryers. There are two huge indoor pools and the huge one outside, with the slide. There are vending machines, that take cash or credit card. You can bring your own cooler. They do not have concession stands to buy food. Babies MUST have swim diapers. The slides are super fun! They have areas for little kids and babies. They have a river pool, where the water takes you around in a big circle. At some points of the river, there is two Whirlpools. One Whirlpool spins, while the other is still. There is a place for kids and babies. It's like a little mini pool park for them. There is not much shaded areas. You would have to get there early to get a good spot with an umbrella. This center is really nice. A great place to take the family and chill. read more

Your tax dollars at work! This facility does a lot for the community. You can definitely take swim lessons here or enroll in a water aerobics class. But I think the highlight is the water park. Its cheap, and unlike the commercial water parks, its not that crowded. Easy parking situation and you can even bring in a picnic to enjoy. I think the entrance fee is less than $5 for kids to get in. Take a look at the pictures. There is a slide, a lazy river and a kiddy water park. Tons of life guards to make sure everyone has a safe and good time. The best part is, you can avoid the hassle of driving to the commercial water parks, get in a long line for any of the rides, and deal with the thousands of folks in there. Come here instead, easy in and out, easy parking, and spend more time having fun in the water with your kids. Kids will be kids and any time in the water will be fun. read more

I have been trying to make a reservation for weeks now for 6/25/22. No one answers the phone, the prompts you to dial "0" to speak to someone and all it does is repeats the full message/recording when you do. I know it says walk in's are approved but it's on a first come first serve and I wanted to come there with my family so my son can have a good time for his birthday. Great clean pool! I've passed this rec center several times on my way home but decided to grab the kids and go last week. They had a blast. The pools are not deep and the lazy river is fun. My 7 and 13 year old were able to go down the slides and roam around on their own I could see them from any area I was sitting (BEWARE of the ants). The restrooms are clean, inside and outside of the building. My only thing was the prices are kind of high for a parks and rec center if you aren't a Gwinnett resident. So instead of paying $15 for 3 ppl I paid double for not living in the county. I went in the evening when the sun was down so I cant say where a shaded area is but all in all it was a great fun evening with my kids. read more

As Dekalb residents, we ended up at Mountain Park Aquatic Center rather by accident. We planned to go to a city of Decatur or Dekalb pool, but after several snafus decided to try Mountain Park, which is not too far away for us. Lucky us: this facility was nicer than most Decatur or Dekalb pools, and kept our kids entertained far longer than I think they would have been at our usual spots. The facilities at Mountain Park Aquatic Center are spacious, clean, and adequate. We didn't have any issues getting checked in or using the locker room. After we took some time to get settled and apply sunscreen, we decided to tackle the outdoor pool first. Luckily, we were able to score a picnic table with a sunshade. That came in handy later when the lifeguards took a safety break. We had a place to sit and enjoy some snacks. The outdoor pool itself is large, not too crowded, and nice for younger kids. I wouldn't describe it as a water park, but a pool with splash features. It has a lot of things spraying, features to climb on, and overhead buckets of water that dump from time to time (kids love this). For older kids, there are two decent water slides and a lazy river. One thing that was lacking was an area with deeper water to swim and splash around in. Most of the pool is only 1-3 feet deep. We then spent some time indoors at the instructional pool, which had open swim. This pool is more of a typical pool with a shallow end and a deeper end, although the deep end is only 5 feet. This was a great place for kids and adults to spread out, float around, play games, and more. The tweens in our group complained that the lifeguards were too strict, but I don't think that was a bad thing: they were actually just doing their jobs, and doing them well. They were firm but kind. Very on the ball. I'd rather have a super attentive lifeguard than one who didn't pay enough attention. The admission was a little steep for non-residents, but I'd say it was worth the money. We stayed all afternoon. One small quibble: most of the kids in our group managed to scrape or blister their toes on the concrete bottoms of the pool. This is always a risk at public swimming facilities, but one to watch out for! read more

This place double charged me to swim. In addition they made it very hard to get a refund. I suggest you just pay cash, or go to another pool in the area. This place has seriously gone down hill- today there were people in full clothing (yoga pants, sweat pants, exercise shorts and other items) in the outdoor leisure pool. The used to have a very strict admittance policy and now they just do not care. There were also a ton of teenagers running around and people completely ignoring the life guards. The center in Duluth has it much more together on crowd control, dealing with disrespectful people and admitting people with appropriate attire. Also, the the facility is dirty- the bleachers indoors looked as if they hadn't been swept in months. Disappointing that county tax dollars do not go to actually maintaining the facility. read more

This was our second time visiting the aquatic center. My family had a great time both visits.. the staff was very friendly and it is reasonably priced. They even have free to use coast guard approved life vests for children. Between the lazy boy river and the water slides, this is a great place to go! However, I do believe that if you live outside of Gwinnett they do charge a bit more.This place is great if you're looking to beat the heat! read more

Stay away! Rude & mean staff. Over-regulated facility to no extent. If one parent watching the kids - there is no way the other parent can substitute! Both parents have to pay to get in, even though none of us getting into the water! And btw there are no refunds or rain checks because of the weather, or water being too cold. No food, no cakes, no balloons allowed - forget about the party time! There no even chairs or lounges to lay down!!! This place completely sucks. read more
