So thankful for Yelp! If it wasn't for them we would have grabbed a cheap week old pastry at the gas station. But fortunately I saw this cafe on Yelp with 4 stars and we decided to give them a try. This is without a doubt the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The food is horrible. Very plain and unappetising. The waitress we had (I wish I could remember her name) was very rude. It took her 15 minutes to come to our table after we sat down even though she was standing right in front of the restaurant where she could see us clearly. When she finally took our order she made a snarky comment about me giving my order too fast. When our food was ready she was nowhere to be found. It sat up there for at least 10 minutes before she shuffled back in and delivered it to us. We got no attention while we were eating. When we finished it took her forever to bring the check. She asked if the food was good and I said no. She said "well there's nothing I can do about that is there?" I also want to mention that the restaurant has been for sale for 10 years! My Mom was so unhappy she wouldn't eat her b.fast. She likes things cooked lightly (me crispy). Waitress wrote it that way. When order came up waitress told the cook. He chewed her out and told her special request not possible when busy. So she brought the well cooked food to Mom. Mom asked for the Manager. Waitress said Mgr will speak to cook then come over. Her never came. Mom then went to him, said "if you can't come to me I'll come to you", because she felt her food was inedible. She wanted to provide constructive criticism for the new owner to succeed. She'd been there before liked it, and wanted to be able to go back. Her "help" was not appreciated. Modest portions on 8 inch plates. My b.fast was... just ok. Veggie omelet, hash browns not crispy as I asked. Dad's veggie omelet had bell peppers, NOT a listed ingredient. To say she HATES bells, would be an understatement of diplomacy. The place was slammed, but 3 other tables sat after us, yet served way before us. 30 minutes from seat to eat. Spent 4 months in the Quartzsite area and ate there a couple of times. Did not feel any draw to them, since they are a buy from Sysco and warm it up restaurant. My wife is allergic to MSG and so there was little she could order, since most of what they offer was processed elsewhere. No home cooking here. read more

This was just bad service. We didn't end up eating here because nobody was seating. We came in and stood in front of the sign that said "please wait to be seated" because it has been my experience that waitresses and hosts like that, not here. They let us stand there for 20 minutes before my husband flagged someone down and they said we should put our name on the list "okay, what list?" We were informed that it's around and that's the way they do it. Then maybe the sign should say "please find out list and put your name on it". It wasn't even busy they just didn't care to wait on anyone. They sat 1 party and argued with the woman about how she wrote her name. We finally decided to just leave when I heard someone who had been seated the whole time we had been there ask when a server would be at his table and instead of apologizing for what was at minimum a 30 minute wait with no menu or drink or food they told him someone would get to him when they had time and walked away. I hope that guy walked out like we did. read more

Pretty darn good !! For folks not familiar, Quartzsite is a trippy throwback to towns that you've only seen in movies, forever frozen in time. Mountain Quail Cafe is situated between two dusty trailer parks, on a nondescript road. I can't decide which I like better, the service or the food! Yelp directions led us astray, but we stayed on Moon Mountain Road and came across the restaurant another 3/4 mile up. If it hadn't been for the recent reviews we would have thought the restaurant had closed or moved. We frequent Quartzsite and now that we know about this place will come often. read more

Mountain Quail Cafe was recommended to us by fellow RVers so we stopped for breakfast. The service was exceptional but the food was mediocre. My husband and I both had 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and sausage. We could've eaten in our Motorhome and had the same meal. Next time thru Quartzite we will skip this spot. read more

Stood at the counter with my 2 girls for 20 mins and only after one of the seated costumers asked loudly if we were still waiting to be seated when one of the waitress acknowledged our presence. Felt like they were purposely ignoring us. I have a nagging feeling that they were being racist. We are Asian Americans and perhaps the only 'non white' in the entire restaurant. This a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The wait staff are prompt and friendly, the helping are plentiful and very tasty.

I was looking for a non-chain place off the main road, and I sure did find it! (Fortunately there were signs on the highway pointing to where to turn, or I would never have stumbled on it.) When I got there the counter was populated with locals. The stranger in town was the only one at a table. First their staff is top notch. Friendly, courteous, playful but professional. Outstanding food, great prices. Best Taco salad we have ever had until I had the Chef salad. Couldn't hardly decided which salad to choose. Would like to try other items, but just can't pass up either of these DYNOMITE items. If you haven't tried them your loosing out . Love this place, nothing fancy but very good home style food. I had the catfish with sweet potato fries corn on the cob and hush puppies, my husband had the chicken fried steak. Lots of food for 27 bucks. I don't normally care for hush puppies but these were really good. Saturday night prime rib is excellent. read more

I am not pleased with the service. I contacted the restaurant over the phone to obtain a gift certificate for some friends who were winter camping in the area. This was a Christmas gift, Christmas dinner. The waitress who I talked to over the phone was very helpful, and, after questioning other staff members indicated they could accommodate. i specifically asked if the unused amount would be given as change. The waitress said let me ask the owner who is right here. The waitress assured me that would be the case, so I provided my name, debit card information and the name of the friends who would be in to claim the gift certificate. A week or so later, I received a call from our friends who visited the cafe to utilize the gift certificate. They were informed there was no record of any gift certificate. I personally contacted the owner who informed me they do not transact gift certificates over the phone. As you can imagine, I was extremely disappointed, and embarrassed. It was also to late to come up with another Christmas gift. I will never do business with this cafe. Also, the food is nothing to speak of, and the service personal are slow.. read more
