The falafel was a little dry but it had some hummus to help pull it all together. It was the better choice between the two items we ordered. MEDINA'S GYRO BOWL. This was meant to be served as "gyro over rice, salad and fries."The cashier, who was also the cook, advised beforehand there wasn't any rice, so my husband asked for more meat instead. When we got the bowl, we only received gyro and salad and it looked exactly just like that--a gyro salad. The gyro was sometimes soft and somewhat moist and other bits were crispy and dry. We wish we could've had the fries along with it since we were missing rice as our carb but we weren't sure why it wasn't included. _______________________________________________________ --- S E R V I C E --- We rang the bell and the cashier/cook (entering from the entrance door) quickly rushed inside behind the counter to put on his apron. He seemed a little distracted as he received a phone call, but quickly put it down so we could order. While we were ordering, he may have been distracted again when his family came in. After 20 mins., we received our meals. He kindly set down our food and said "If you need anything else, feel free to let me know". 5 or 10 mins. later, he walked outside with a woman (coworker?). A customer came in not too long after, and the woman in red let the customer know the cashier/cook went on a quick store run. That's when I realized that our fries were missing. As much as we wanted to inquire and enjoy them with our meal, we had to forgo them and get back on the road. _______________________________________________________ --- A M B I A N C E --- This place is tucked on the side of a latin to-go restaurant which connects together alongside a gas station mart. It's definitely as it looks on the outside--just a small side of the building. The "restaurant" itself is only an ordering window that looks into the kitchen and variations of the menu on the wall. I really wanted to give Arslan's Gyros a better review, but I just could not get past one major issue. One of the bowls we were served in was melted, and the plastic had clearly eroded into the food. That was hard to overlook and honestly took away from the entire experience. The location itself is very casual, set inside a gas station alongside another restaurant. It is simple and no frills, but the person who greeted us was warm and welcoming, which I always appreciate. There are a variety of options to choose from, and we ended up getting one of their bowls. Flavor wise it was decent, but I would strongly recommend getting the sauce on the side. They tend to douse the food in it, and it was just not something I personally enjoyed. Having control over the amount would make a big difference. I think there is potential here, and with a bit more attention to detail, especially when it comes to food safety and presentation, this could be a much better experience. If the bowl situation had not happened, I would have given this a higher rating. read more

The owner/chef/operator was so friendly, offered us a sample of falafel and we decided to order. I had the falafel wrap/sandwich and my daughter had a chicken wrap/sandwich. Both were made to order with fresh ingredients. So tasty. The owner has been in business for a year and I hope he does well. He had all the makings of a good business. It's inside a Mobile gas station convenience store in the corner so a bit hard to find, but well worth it. Very friendly staff! I called ahead to verify they were open & they did miss the call but called me right back!! We were super impressed with the meal! Everything is made to order & so tasty! It is deceiving cause it's in a gas station but don't let that fool you! Delish! Fresh! They don't have fountain drinks but do have a good assortment of cold canned sodas. We bought food from here as a healthy alternative to Carl's Jr across the street. The owners gave us a sample of the tasty falafel too. The chicken gyro was huge. I added a bit of salt. I didn't like the cooked onion inside. It makes the gyro sweet. Better to get it raw. I was hoping for tzatziki sauce and feta cheese, olives. You might be able to ask for that. This little GEM is hidden in a tiny gas station on the corner of a busy intersection. The owner is super friendly. Today he was giving out samples promoting a variety of products I wasn't familiar with. Maybe he always does but I truly appreciated the tastings. The gyro was absolutely filled with meat and veggies. A good mix of everything. There was so much meat I had to start with a fork. The meat is so tender and flavorful. Not much to look at for a store, BUT definitely worth the stop. Tucked away in the back of a gas station, quiet and dark. Really enjoyed and service and food. I hope to get back through here. Wow I'm seriously impressed! For a restaurant inside a gas station food court, I did not expect the quality of the food to blow me away. The owner's daughter took our order. She was so sweet and helpful. I sampled their falafel and loved it. I usually don't like falafel because it's usually too dry and bland for me. Their recipe was unique and flavorful. Moving onto my order. I got the gyro sandwich combo. I tweaked it around to get just what I wanted: with fries and rice as my sides. That way I could share with my baby. It came out to be a dollar more. Omg the gyro sandwich was phenomenal and overflowing with gyro! So much flavor and just so satisfying to eat. Their fries also had a unique savory citrus seasoning. What a treat to find after an exhausting weekend of rock buying. Who'd have guessed that I would find authentic Melomakarona (nut-stuffed syrup cakes I first learned about in Astoria Queens, there frequently called "phoenikia") at this little "fast food" place tucked in a food court by the Quartzite freeway exit. I got the chicken gyro bowl with salad and my friend got falafel on pita. Very tasty main dishes, followed by the melomakarona and some big pieces of baklava, washed down with authentic turkish coffee (Arslan brought the handmade brass briki to the table so I could pour my own coffee!!) Now I have a new stop to visit when I make the drive from San Diego to Arizona and points east. We came here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately it was a big miss for us. We ordered two falafel bowls, and the employee even repeated the order back to us, but when we got home we realized we were given two gyros instead. On top of that, the rice in both bowls wasn't fully cooked. Disappointing experience, especially since we were really looking forward to it after seeing all the positive reviews. Arslans is in a Mobil gas station, but it's some of the highest quality, freshest ingredients handmade by a proprieter who knows what he has and is just waiting for the world to catch up. If you're traveling anywhere near the Arizona state line off 10, pull over and treat yourself. It's a wonderful road trip fuel up because it's light and healthy. The portion size? I had to dig into it with a fork before I could pick it up It was like being a fox trying to dig the most delicious prey out of its burrow. If I hadn't, I might have needed to change my shirt.
