Good coffee, great size Mountain Roasters is a great early AM coffee stop I make a point to hit every time I'm headed through Felton. They have good mixes brewed and ready for you, I like both the organic Sumatra and the rocket fuel. This place is weird. They don't take cards which means they probably cheat on their taxes. Coffee is meh, it's probably just as good as anywhere else which means you may as well go somewhere else (white raven is very close and much better). However if you happen to carry cash on you and need a quick fix it's close to Henry Cowell and Roaring Camp. Ambiance inside is not bad and they do have comfy chairs. read more

Last week we stopped by a coincidence at this place and it left us in awe. It is like going back 40-50 years Coffee and pastries were delicious. The "Cash Only " sign on the door only adds to the intriguing vibe of this place. It was Sunday at noon and there was a cool band playing. The crowd watching the band was even cooler. In the back of the shop there were a bunch of ladies spinning wool and threading. The only person serving coffee was romancing a lady, taking his time. However, we didn't care about the time, because it seems like it stopped at the Mt. Roasting Comp. at Felton. Everybody was very friendly and I couldn't see any cell phones or lap tops around. This place has potential. Lots of space, comfortable seats, large tables and a nice staff. The coffee was good, found it to be better than coffee cat where I used to go. Cannot beat free Wi-Fi. This place opens early and closes early, so its great if your an early bird. But here were my problems. The tables and chairs needed to be cleaned more often. the first table I wanted to sit at had one of the chairs covered with long strands of blond hair. its was pretty gross. The second table i settled for, I had to clean the table top myself. The previous time I was here, depressing country music was being played over the radio really loud. It was very hard to relax and focus. Two customers entered the shop, apparently they new the staff member working. One of the guys was extremely loud and obnoxious, not caring about anyone else around and who he disturbed. he made all sorts of noises and spoke in a volume that made a few people pack up and leave within minutes of his arrival. I almost was one. The person working, who i will not name, didnt even bother to quiet the kid down, but rather proceeded to converse with the guy and encouraging him. his went on for 30+ minutes. These are just minor things, that with a little extra attention could raise my score. Besides that, I am quite pleased and am likely to return for another round. read more

Everything about my experience here was bad. First there were three women behind the counter and despite a long line only one of them was actively working to make the customers orders, the other two were taking their time as they took orders and just hanging around. The line was growing fast and they seemed like they were going purposefully slow! I was second in line and waited about ten minutes before my order was taken. I also ordered a bagel which took, no exaggeration, 25 minutes to be brought out to me. They were also low on coffee supplies, And I could see that other customers were also annoyed at the lack of customer service. Not so good. The only good thing are the bagels which they get from the Bagel Cafe in Scotts Valley. Everything else is not worth writing home about. I cannot stand how lazy and unhelpful the staff are. Laid back and casual is one thing this is just annoying. They also don't accept credit cards which is annoying. They have done some recent updates, but I wouldn't call them improvements. What good is a coffee place when staff and owner are only friendly to their friends? I had to wait ages for my coffee - they'd actually forgot about it - NO APOLOGY whatsoever! - and then they got it wrong too. Watch what you order because some of their prices are atrocious. I have been in a fair number of times and have yet to see the day when anyone in there gives me a smile. They don't even respond to any efforts at lightening things up. The younger girl at least talked to me a little.I think they have to work way too hard, though it seems some of it is due to bad streamlining and lack of communication. I suppose you can't expect anything much when you look at the owner who indeed is 'super SUPER grumpy.' Why someone like that decides to run a coffee shop is a big mystery to me. Mt coffee was good enough and I had the good sense to order a plain croissant, so that at least was quick. There's been an odd crowd in here this Sunday morning. read more

I have been here at least a dozen times because of its proximity to my work. But today is the last day. EVERY TIME I go here it takes them AT MINIMUM 20 minutes to make me a basic bagel item and a latte. Their staff is SO RIDICULOUSLY slow. Most of the time they aren't doing anything productive. Many times the older man (the owner?) gets my order COMPLETELY wrong. One time there was one Barista and a line of 5 people and he just swept outside instead of helping take orders. This type of service is a regular occurrence for me and after every visit I tell myself, "I am never going back." Today was that last day for sure. The barista showed no eye contact or interest in my presence and when I finally got to order something, she was irritated that I was disrupting whatever it was she was doing. This place takes the whole mountain vibe thing a little far. We get it; you aren't in a hurry. That said if you aren't in a rush and want a good pour over they've got a nice setup and execute well. The seating area is comfortable and relatively clean. Main complaint is the drip coffee - every time I've been there (only 3) half of them are empty or almost empty. Next time I'll allow some time and get a pour over, or go elsewhere for expediency. read more

I come to Mountain Roasting once a week. It is a great place to have coffee, tea, bagels and breakfast burritos. If you haven't tried the breakfast burrito yet, do so. It's huge and can easily feed two people! I am able to work and write my dissertation when at this coffee house, all in a tranquil environment. I try to frequent local coffee roasters over chains, but for a coffee shop to be out of coffee in the morning is criminal! I paid for a medium cup (dropped the change in the tip jar) and was pointed in the direction of the paper cups and pre-brewed urns with their various labels of different roasts. When I got there all were empty (admittedly, I didn't check the decaf)! Had to wait 15 min or so for the barista to brew one of the pots--so much for choice. The coffee wasn't bad, but wasn't worth the wait or the $3.00 ($2.25+tip). Experience with Coffee Cat, Peets, and even Starbucks in SV was a lot more personable and friendly than Mountain Roasters. Probably won't be back. read more

Very poor service. Sign out side says "coffee on" and the door has "open" on it in bright neon. Walk in, servers see me but ignore me. After a few minutes of standing there one finally comes up to me, looks at her watch and says "oh sorry we've just this second closed" forget that I was already in the shop and waiting, with the lights on out side. I had the Pumpkin Spice, with the homemade whipped cream. This is not Starbucks or Peets, it's much better. You can taste the separate flavors. Yumm! I love that they offer Organic Coffee at their coffee bar! Very good quality. Every time I go, I never find Bran Muffins. I don't know if it is because they don't carry them or if they are all gone by the time I come in. I do enjoy my coffee with a bran muffin, so this is kinda disappointing. I will say that their seating area is very nice and inviting. Service is always friendly and atmosphere is never TOO loud. Stop here for some Organic Coffe, but I always find myself wishing I went to the donut place next store for my fav Cranberry Bran Muffin. read more

They make a decent cup of coffee, but it's not great. Free wifi, but not a great atmosphere. The baristas focus on the regulars, making small talk (not in a good way, as they are working or preparing their drinks/food... i'm talking about standing there, when there's a line, and shooting the breeze)... most times i have been there this has been the case, making the wait seem like forever. They are friendly, though... haven't experienced any blatant rudeness. atmosphere is about a 3 out of 10... it's not super inviting. They don't have to be super trendy or anything, but there could definitely be some more warmth to the place. I will say that their coffee ice cubes are an awesome idea. read more

Average coffee that isn't always consistent. I always have to wait a long time for any prepared food like bagels, so it's not so great for the hurried commuter. Egg salad is bland, just needs a little salt & pepper mixed in. I do like their choice in breads & pastrys. read more

Coffee here sucks. Bagels are great but you can get the same ones from Scott's valley bagelry for cheaper. The floor always looks dirty. I've seen the employees lock their fingers while making your bagel. Te girls who work here are sweet enough, the owner is strange, old guy. Well the cofffe is so watery that you think your drinking dine and dive coffee. I have tried every blend of coffee they serve. The latteeee's good. The people that work there are the only ones who keep the place alive. The food good bagels, but that is about it......Atmosphere ok. not a place for great coffeee..... The service and coffee was so awful that it inspired me to write my first yelp review! Back in July I first visited this little coffee shop and when I first walked in I was impressed with the atmosphere and that they carried organic coffee blends. But once I ordered my expresso drink I noticed that the barista pulled my expresso shot in only three seconds. Of course this made my coffee extremely bitter. I wrote this place off until this morning when my husband went in and bought my daughters and I two french roast coffees and two hot chocolates. The coffee was so watery and dull but the baristas can't control that. It wasn't until we took our first sip of hot chocolate that tasted like watered down cinnamon dish soap that I promptly called Mountain Roasters. Now although I was disappointed in the coffee I do work in customer service so I wasn't going to be rude or complain harshly to the person who answered the phone. I kindly told the guy who answered that our coffee and hot chocolates did not taste well and if it was possible to get a refund. The man replied very rudely that "you can come back back but we're. It going to comp you anything". Ok well that's fine but the rude tone and lack of apology isn't acceptable and for that you can have this review for everyone to see how you run your business. read more

Mountain Roastings has the second best coffee in Felton. Well, it might be the best. I just prefer the coffee at the other coffee shoppe downtown. They are both excellent. The grumpy guy who owns Mountain Roastings does not like me much, but I don't mind. He is not there all the time. Even when busy, it never gets uncomfortably crowded. Any time we are not close to a Starbucks we order blended ice drinks ( a frappechino) and most of the small coffee shops don't know what it is. On Sunday we decided to try one here. At least fifteen minutes later my husband comes out with two watery drinks. They were out of ice and to try to make it cold they used ice cream, I didn't want a milk shake! I hate milkshakes and it was gross. I will never go there again, what a joke! read more
