Must see Coffee House / Nursery / Garden all-in-one. This is literally a house turned into a coffee shop. Inside there are several rooms for socializing and enjoying a sip. Each room has its own aura. Outside you'll find a relatively large nursery with plenty of shade and tables. The drink menu is diverse and offers something for everyone. The drinks were good but not out of this world. I'd say the ambiance and decor is the Defirentiating factor here. read more

Stopped by on my way through town. Cute little spot with multiple seating with shade. Tried the vanilla honey latte iced which was nice. Also got their coffee cake & lemon bar which were both tasty. The reason for docking two stars is due to portion size. In their display case they have the coffee cakes plated. However, the sizings are completely off. Some pieces are double the size and some are half of the size. Lemon bar was also fairly small but very tasty. They also have a small but beautiful nursery for you to check out while waiting for the drinks. You can also shop for some cool local art works and some clothing here! Weird barista. We came in and she was walking around the house area and kind of curtly said she would help us in a minute. Then as we ordered she was very curt and rude, kind slapping the cups and milk down and behaving as if we were wasting her time. We got our coffee, which consisted of the chai latte, the brown sugar nutmeg latte, and a cold brew. None of the drinks were good - which might be attributed to the fact that she was making them hastily. We also noticed that she was much nicer to the guy in line behind us, which was an odd switch up in behavior. We thought she might just be having a bad day, but she changed her entire tone with the guy behind us. The reviews here are pretty misleading, because neither the service nor the coffee was good. Cute coffee shop in Groveland. The shop is in a house with an eclectic mix of other things for sale, such as photo prints and a thrift store. There's also a plant nursery outside, but we didn't get to check it out as it was raining when we stopped by. My friend and I stayed in Groveland for a night and grabbed some drinks here before we left in the morning. I had the Mexican hot chocolate ($4.75 for a small) and my friend had a latte for $4. Good coffee shop! We get here to get some coffees and they were excellent. I got hot chocolate and my friends got caramel ice latte. Price is affordable , the place is clean , spacious, and they have a lot of good decorations. My friends like to come here to take some photos. They have some garden and sell the plants. I've now tried Iron Door, La Dolce Vita, and Mountain Sage Coffee in Groveland. For me and my partner this is the place to go to. First off, I asked for a traditional macchiato and they knew how to make it. Second, food we got was very good - nice bagel. Third, we were able to sit in the morning sun in the garden in back and enjoy the sun and the view. Prices were reasonable and the food was homemade. From the street we wren't sure if it was open, but it was. The coffee part is in the back of the building. Watch your head if you're over about 5'10" - there's a low doorway to the coffee bar! This is where we're heading in Groveland in the future when we need coffee. read more

Such good coffee! Really cute location. Its a house converted into a coffee shop and nurserry. Beautulf place to sit and have a coffee. We saw someone on a Zoom meeting, so Wifi seems decent too. They make their own syrups too which was very cool. $16 for two coffees so its not cheap but very good. read more

This is actually my second visit to Mountain Sage Coffee, and the first time was such a wonderful surprise! From the outside, it already looks charming, but once you step inside, it's even better. There are so many cozy rooms to explore, including one with thrifted clothes for sale, plus an eclectic mix of couches and tables in all shapes and sizes. The whole place has an adorable shabby-chic, kitschy vibe. The drinks are unique, too--my boyfriend loved the orange dark chocolate latte, and I was obsessed with the hot chocolate topped with seasonal pumpkin spice whipped cream. So delicious! I found this place here on Yelp when looking for a place to stop on our road trip out of Yosemite. I'm so glad we stopped here! It was such a cool little place with so much history. The coffee shop is in the back of the building beyond a little living room seating area and an art gallery. The house that the coffee shop occupies was built in the 1860s I believe, and a lot of it still looks pretty original! The food and coffee drinks were all delicious, especially the breakfast burrito. Service was friendly and efficient and we learned a lot from our barista while she made our food and drinks. Highly recommend! read more

Stopped in for some coffee on a pitstop and was pleasantly surprised by this tiny little shop! They have more than just your standard coffee menu, with a specialty drink menu and even had food and fresh baked goods. I enjoyed my vanilla oolong tea latte which I saw her steep fresh to order. My husband's brown sugar nutmeg latte was also tasty but it wasn't even a full cup. When she put it out on the counter it was just about 3/4 full which is disappointing considering it was $6+! Otherwise, the taste was good. The wait time is a little long because it was just one girl by herself so she would take an order, make those drinks, and then take the next order and so on, so just be patient! read more

I like Groveland and after buying the family ice cream at the Mercantile, which is so cute, I wanted a coffee from here. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk, half caff. It's the most I've ever paid for coffee in my life and my daughter said I've been around the world and never paid that much for coffee. $9.55 it was excellent but incredibly expensive. read more

Whenever I visit a new city, I love visiting coffee shops to see what the locals like to drink. I am done with buying coffee from big chains like Starbucks and prefer to support Mom and Pop businesses when I purchase coffee. I was visiting Yosemite and stayed at Groveland which is a fairly small city with very few restaurants, so I was very excited to find Mountain Sage here on Yelp! The cool part is that this coffee shop is also a nursery that sells gardening materials. I personally am not a plant person due to personal reasons (I cannot keep them alive.. hah!) but I know a lot of plant lovers who may want to check out this spot! Additionally, they also have merchandise that they sell like hats, t-shirts and lots of little trinkets. Also, they have lots of cute items/decorations that you can look through. I wish we had more time to look at all the things that they had, but we were just briefly stopping by to get coffee. Right now, because of COVID, there is a one way pathway, meaning that you enter one door and exit another. It works out, because the pathway gives you an opportunity to look at all parts of the coffee shop. I believe there is outdoor sitting to hang out that is now open and I even saw a hammock! This is what we ordered in my two visits: Brown Sugar Nutmeg 5/5: my mom got hot and she loved it, I got it iced and it was equally good! Vanilla Honey 5/5: my mom likes he drinks hot and she enjoyed this drink also Iced Green Tea Latte 3.5/5 I didn't know what to get and I wanted tea but with caffeine and this is what they suggested. My experience was very disappointing given the great reviews. First off, it took a LONG time for each person to get served because they only had one staff member with a long line - she was great and so sweet, but it took forever. I got the vanilla oolong latte and it tasted awful IMO. Would not order it again and I am generally a fan of both vanilla and oolong. Additionally, the banana bread left a lot to be desired and I ate like a quarter of it and gave up. It was very dry. I wish my experience had been as good as these reviews! read more

RUDE owner/barista!! Our group ordered 4 drinks totaling $24.20 but the barista charged us $30.30 in cash. When we asked for a receipt the barista simply said it was because of the credit card surcharge. When we told her we paid in cash she curtly replied "I don't have time for this, trust me I did everything right." We got back in line to speak to her again but upon our turn (after 20 min) she cut us off and said "Like I said it's a busy day, you can wait for everyone to leave if you want." After a pause she finally asked what we ordered and refunded us the overcharge after recounting. It was a very unpleasant experience for us, made us feel very uncomfortable when we just wanted some coffee. Don't come!!! read more

The lavender latte is to die-for, my wife says, and it is because they use real lavender! But that's not the only reason we return several times a year on our way to Yosemite. I love the variety of the coffee, the choice of a pour-over, the funky (good) vibe of this house-turned-coffee spot, art house and nursery. The art is mainly photos of the Sierra and they are fun to look through while sipping your coffee drink. There often is a fire in the *living room* area. Note that there is parking in the back. When heading toward Yosemite (east) just turn right on the street adjacent to Mountain Sage, then right in the first driveway. This way you walk in through part of the nursery. Also note that the closing time can be inconsistent. We've been saddened when we stop by around 3:30p and find it closed. read more
