Our personal experience from that housing facility was awful. We lived there for 3(three) years. The manager, Jenna, is only good for public relations, she doesn't know how to do her job properly, and this is one of the reasons that the apartments are "overpriced huts". All the times that we had some problems, she confirmed that they would fix the problems, but in reality, they did not have done proper repairs and maintenance for the simple reason that they did not care. They are there only to collect the rent fees. The maintenance staff is quick to come "to fix any problem" but in reality, they put "band aids" so there is accumulation and increase of the problems. The apartment that we lived in, had signs of mold and silverfish, and any time that we mentioned this problem to maintenance personnel and more specifically to Jorge he said to us to clean the walls with cleaning solutions against the mold, and to throw away the silverfish from the light of the ceiling. If this is not ridiculous, disrespectful and unprofessional, the neglect of maintenance of the building is for sure. The result was two times, the dirty water from the washing machines from the apartments vertically above us to run and to fill in our apartment from the washing machine drain pipe. Water filled the floor and of course these things happened after hours, we had to wait for maintenance to arrive to do something to fix it. Meanwhile our home became flooded with dirty water. In addition, there was mold in many parts of the apartment that we were trying to clean. Both me and my wife are asthmatic, we mentioned this problem to manager Jenna, but "fall on deaf ears". The bathroom was another issue, constantly problems with the sink and the toilet. We were lucky compared to some other neighbors who had sewer back up in their apartment. As regards the external broad area of the housing community, every night there were visits of transients, dealers, and "dumpster-divers", In simple words, it is an overpriced dumpster. Have lived here for two years and here is my experience: Pros: -Apartments are absolutely beautiful as are the amenities (pool, gym, clubhouse, etc) Was very bummed to not be able to use the amenities after COVID broke out but that's totally understandable -Lisa in the office is extremely kind and helpful -The maintenance staff is quick and efficient and extremely helpful (you submit a request online and they usually fix it within a few hours) the head maintenance guy is AMAZING. So kind and so helpful and quick and does amazing work -Package concierge system is efficient and easy to use and don't have to worry about packages being stolen -apartment grounds are clean and kept well -minus street traffic noise, apartments are quiet and all other residents I came in contact with were kind and respectful Cons: - high turnover in staff. Like in the years I lived here, I saw over 5 or so people come and go in the office - very expensive - some staff in the office are not very kind and helpful or even seem happy to talk to you *not all of them, just some I came across* - during COVID pandemic staff were pretty uncommunicative and unhelpful and did not adequately inform us how things were to proceed (in particular, the move out process) I always had to email and ask them about things first to even get them started on things that were normally their responsibility - very very high requirements for co-signers and credit scores read more

Rented a 1bdr apartment and had a good experience. Neighborhood was a bit transient with a lot of students and military moving in and out but they are very flexible and understanding. Parking was never an issue and the staff was always able to assist with issues. Prices were a little high for the area but they do offer a washer and dryer in the units which was something that seemed hard to come by for a lower price. The pool was clean and people were respectful of the area and common grill which was very nice. Overall it was a good place to live and if you are there long or short term this place should be on your short list for apartments. It has a very convenient location to the highway, stores, restaurants and it is next door neighbors with a bowling alley and a golf course. read more

Yes its a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Larger living spaces, stainless steel appliances, pool, hottub, grill, gym, business center, mail center, in room laundry, timely maintenance. The location is great! Walkable to 2 Golf courses, bowling, tons of restuarants. Even walk/bike distance to the casino and indoor go carts. Silvia and the staff work all day everyday and I have nothing but great things to say about them! They go out of their way to try and help out! read more

For people considering this property, I recommend looking somewhere else. Here's why: 1. Upon filling out your lease, they will require an email address for correspondence. Important: they won't actually use it. It's really so you can setup your online pay portal. That's it. Over the two years I've been here, I've only recently received any emails whatsoever from the office or property management at all, and that's only because of... 2. They have this really neat policy that if you've lived on the property for over 12 months, you're required to give a 60-day notice if you plan to vacate. Important: put an alert in your calendar 75 days ahead of your lease renewal as a reminder because they have no plans to let you know that your lease renewal is coming up, nor will they inform you of your upcoming rent increase. In the 17 years I've been renting, I've never experienced a policy like this. If you ask me, there is malicious intent. They HOPE you'll forget, and attempt to give a 30-day notice, therefore being forced to pay an extra month (which you probably can't afford). 3. The property management, both on-site, and at the district level, honestly do not care about customer service. How do I know this? First, if you ever have a package shipped in via USPS (United State Postal Service), the package will be delivered to the office. You will not receive a notification. Your package will remain in the office until you actually go and ASK for it. Furthermore, regarding the before mentioned 60-day notice, it's a customer courtesy to provide a remainder ~75 days ahead of lease renewal, but they will ONLY leave said reminder at your front door (see #1, no emails), and if by some act of God, your reminder is blown away by a spring storm, their response is, "We DGAF. Your problem, not ours." If you attempt to have a conversation about customer service with the staff in person, they will sit behind a desk, hands crossed in front of them, and tell you to your face they they DGAF (or that you're a liar), and that you're free to live somewhere else if you don't like their policies or attitude. 4. The train. Seriously, do you want to be woken up at 7am by a blaring train? Or do you plan to be in bed before 11pm? Because almost every 20 minutes between those times, expect a window rattling, ear piercing horn flying by at 70 mph. Honestly, you can hear it over a mile away. It sucks real bad. 5. Parking is terrible! So, they'll assign you a covered spot that's halfway dow the parking lot, and leave spaces that are closer unassigned, as they belong to units that aren't rented. If you ask about it, they'll respond with the above mentioned 'DGAF', and tell you they have a strategy of assigning spaces, and it's too difficult to reassign spots. Additionally, all of the college kids who live at MS (who aren't bad at all, actually) have friends over all the time, which results in all of the extra (closer) spots being taken up. 6. The place is WAY overpriced. I mean, it's nicer than most of the other properties locally, but seriously, save the extra $700/mo, and put it towards buying a house. Honestly, the place is very 'meh', it's overpriced, and the train sucks. What pushed me over the edge has been the management's policies, and their inability to actually communicate with tenants about ANYTHING. Oh, and the attitude of, 'We DGAF what you think.' Had they actually utilized the email address I provided on day-1 to communicate things like water shut-off events, community events, closure of the office/change in office hours, and eventually the Lease Renewal notice, I would be able to say, sure, live here, it's ok. But seeing as they can't seem to provide adequate communication at any point, I cannot recommend living here. The management sucks and all they care about is whether or not you pay rent on time. read more

Horribly overpriced. Granted the pool and gym are decent but the lady who cleans the gym is kind of sketchy and keeps a close eye most of the time. My main complaint is the number of times my roomate has had to make a maitenence call in the 5 and a half months I have lived here (on and off). We waited an extra month for our place to be ready and are paying over 1600 for a non upgraded two bedroom. The door handle locks were shredded and looked like someone tried to break in, the toilet leaked and had to be fixed, the light fixtures needed to be replaced, the dryer broke, now there is water filling up behind the paint in the main bathroom so half the wall has slid off from water damage. Our neighbors are loud and have no respect for quiet hours, some of the people living here I am amazed they passed a background check. Looks are very deceiving, as pretty as they look on the outside its not worth thd trouble. A side note, now with the Graton casino within walking distance the traffic has increased enormously and the police are in full affect in our neighboorhood. Even with all the inconvinience I would bet they use this new "attraction" as reason for increasing the rent. read more

very nice apartments! Ours gets great afternoon light and when the doors/windows are closed, I cannot hear the traffic from 101. Never have heard a peep from neighbors, either they're quiet or units have good, thick walls blocking out the sound. The one downside is the SMART Train RIGHT outside our place. It's only in the test stages right now, but still is very loud and annoying, blowing it's horn whenever it passes by due to the intersection . Dreading when it starts for real in the fall and could be a deal breaker, especially if rent goes up when time to renew our lease :( Price is pretty up there but seems like everything is these days. I lived at Mountain Shadows apartments from 2013-2014. I absolutely loved living here. Some reviews in the past have complained about management, but Gene, Silvia, and Kelly were always helpful, friendly, and flexible with me during the time I lived here. Kelly went above and beyond to help me on several occasions, including once when I locked myself out of my unit. The hot tub was my favorite amenity; it was rarely crowded on week nights and even on the weekends I could always get in. The gym was impressive and never full. I never heard my neighbors, and anytime I had a maintenance issue, John did a great job fixing it. I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone. Rents have gone up all over Sonoma County, and even though these units are pricey, having your own washer/dryer and the peace of mind was well worth the high rent! read more

Management is horrible! I'm sure they're just blindly following the corporations terrible policies. But that is no excuse. Do not think that you will ever feel at home here. You're more likely to be welcomed if you just walked in a strangers house and struck their child. read more

Area is nice but staff is terrible. We were supposed to move in on Dec. 21st and they called us on Dec. 20th to confirm that we could move in on the 21st around noon. So we moved out of our place in Eureka and drove down with a uhaul on the 21st just to be told that we can't move in because they weren't done with the background check. After a couple days of staying in a hotel waiting, they told us there isn't anything they can do about it and suggest we get a place somewhere else. I called their management and they didn't care either. Terrible management. They shouldn't have told us we could move in if they weren't ready yet. We could have stayed at our place in Eureka that was paid through the month until it was done. They screwed us over badly and do not care. They then decided to change our move in date to Dec 31st even though we are already here. Now we have to try and find another place and our Christmas is ruined for our 2 year old son. read more

I was actually pretty sad to see this complex having only 3 stars, overall. This is one of the nicest places to live in Rohnert Park, probably second only to the really new properties over by Costco- which have REALLY mixed reviews, btw. I lived here with my boyfriend for about 3 years, and we had the best experience! Let's start with the pool. It's always the cleanest of any apartment pool I've ever seen! I do wish we could've had more friends come over and hang out there (the limit is like 2 or 3), but I get why they would want to keep it with smaller groups. The gym has everything we ever wanted to use, and is always open. The one downside is that the lounge area and tv room are only open for the office business hours. There were some nights that it would have been nice to be down there. The maintenance guys were alwaus amazing, and super quick. They had to order us a new icemaker once, and we had it in like 2 days- but they responded to our call on the same day. They even changed light bulbs for us!! Finally, the office staff. One word: wow. While we were there, there was some turnover- one lady left, Gene moved jobs, but Kelli was always super sweet and helpful. I used to see her walking her dog, and she would always say hi to the tenants, and never seemed to be bothered when we would stop her to talk about something. Hanna helped us with all the paperwork and changes we had to make when we moved out, and would always greet us (by with a smile, even though we were down there like twice a day. I never got the newer girl's name, but she seemed really great too. Anyone who had an issue with the staff, maybe you just don't pay attention to policies or details, because they were always really great with communication with us. Denying that you got letters or information from them is ridiculus, because I feel like they went out of their way to help keep our costs to a minimum when we moved out. The one negative thing is how close some of the apartments are to the train. We got used to it though, and have much louder freight trains where we live now, so I miss that thing! I'd like to give it 4.5 stars, but I'll stick with 4 for Yelp. Pretty great place to live, for an apartment. read more

I recommend Mountain Shadows because it is a luxury apartment complex that has something that many complexes lack: a great management team. This was not my cheapest option when I was looking to rent, but Mountain Shadows clearly had the most professional, trained, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. I called them about 10 times in 7 days while I was apartment hunting. Kelly and Gene were always available and patient with my many questions and phone calls. And that didn't stop after I moved in. One of the biggest complaints about apartments is that they take too much of your security deposit after you move out. I've read reviews written by people very similar to myself: I keep my apartment clean & clean it regularly, and I did a deep-clean after I moved out: I spent about 4-5 hours vacuuming the entire apartment, sweeping the patio, cleaning the shower and sinks, and wiping down everything in the fridge & freezer (including the undersides of the fridge dividers & pulling out the produce bins), I even cleaned the floorboards. (I didn't have to even touch the microwave, thanks to a 99-cent plastic cover.) Well, I got 100% of my deposit back. I've read multiple people complain about other complexes where they spent 6+ hours cleaning and still were charged HUNDREDS of dollars. Kelly wouldn't do that. She made it clear when I was talking to her about the cleaning requirements that she DOES NOT charge for wear & tear. And she means it! Also, I was brand new to renting, and I waited until the last day of my lease to say that I needed to cancel my planned move-out day and instead go month-to-month for one month, since I hadn't yet firmed up any housing for my job transition. Well that was a huge problem because someone had just applied for my apartment the night before and had gotten approved the next day. This was a catastrophe. I hadn't even begun packing, let alone work out any place to move to (or get movers). Well, I called at 4pm on Friday. Kelly was off work that day. But she came into work 15 minutes later and SAVED MY LIFE. Thankfully, the person renting my apartment wasn't beginning their lease until 3+ weeks later. Kelly could let me rent for 10 more days and then her team could have about 2 weeks to turn the apartment around in time for the new resident (e.g, they re-paint the apartments in between renters). Not only did Kelly do an amazing thing, but she came in on her day off to do it. And how did she begin the phone call when I answered, "Hi, do you have a second?" They are the very best. read more
