I didn't even realize they carried such a wide variety of Patagonia, which was such a fun surprise because we're huge fans. It's one of our go-to brands for working out and staying warm, so seeing all the options in one place felt dangerous in the best way. We popped into the store and it was bright, spacious, and packed with people probably because there was a sale going on. The back of the store is where all the sale and clearance goodies are hiding, so obviously that's where we gravitated. There's something so satisfying about finding a cozy staple at a discount. The sales associates were super sweet and kept checking in to see if we needed anything without being pushy. Dressing rooms are a little limited, so you might have to wait, but bonus points: there are chairs if your husband or boyfriend needs a designated waiting area while you shop. read more

Mountain Sports has most everything your looking for. Hiking, camping or bouldering you can probably find it at Mountain Sports. I'm a day hiker and backpacker so I wanted to see any new equipment they had in stock and check out the brands of hiking boots and backpacks. I ended up buying 2 pair of socks, a Smart Wool and Darn Tough cause I couldn't pass up the nice design. I guess I missed the sports part of the shop as what I saw was 90% clothing. Not that it's a bad things I was just expecting an outdoors store. Stumbled upon this place walking around old town Flagstaff. I carry a lot of Patagonia which is excellent. The lady who helped us - I believe her name was Katie, was absolutely excellent. We told her what we were looking for and she bent over backwards to find something that worked. She even went to the Patagonia website to look at colors and things that they didn't start at the store in order to recommend them for us. We ended up buying a shirt based on Katie's recommendation. And it worked out beautifully. All in all this is a wonderful shop with great workers. And the customer service was absolutely outstanding. I would come back here again in a heartbeat! read more

Perfect local shop. If you want casual, outdoor-ish clothing this is a great stop. They have the Life is Good gear and TONS of Patagonia for all ages. The store isn't all that large but filled with lots of goodies. We stopped in on a hot day and were so so pleased that they had AC something not so common around Flagstaff. The sales lady was perfectly nice though somewhat disinterested in us but that didn't bother me- I'd rather shop without chatting to be honest. We left without a purchase this time but I feel like that had more to do with the fact that we had three little ones in tow and were trying to keep them from destroying the place rather than the selection offered. read more

This is a nice place that has a wide variety of outdoor/camping related gear, books, among other things. There's a wide variety of stiff to choose from here and for most it might just suffice as your one stop shop to the extent that REI serves as one. The staff are friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. However, the prices are very steep and you can find some of the stuff here for cheaper elsewhere either online or even at REI and (gulp) Walmart. Of course if supporting local businesses is your bag, then this shouldn't matter, but for the majority of people, it might be best to browse here rather than shop. read more

I love this store. Not only because the Lamberson's own it but also because everyone is so helpful. I am walking the Camino this Fall and need certain items. Quick drying light weight clothes for hiking. I shopped at REI and had no one to help me select what I needed. You have to beg for customer service there. I tried Babbitts. They had a very low inventory. ..especially in larger sizes. The lovely lady at Mountain Sports helped me tremendously. I recommend this store for your hiking walking outdoor adventure needs. read more

A terrible experience. I bought a pair of shoes here three weeks ago. The retail clerks assured me I could return them for a full refund, should they not fit. When I came back to do so, the manager told me I could only get store credit, not a full refund. Evidently, the retail clerks I had originally spoken with had neglected to tell me that sale items could not be returned except for store credit. In fact, knowing the shoes were sale items, they still told me I could get a full refund. A simple mistake. But not one the manager would correct. Instead of standing by her employees--by backing up what they said--she decided to not believe me that the conversation had taken place. So, instead of supporting her subordinates and trusting someone, at no cost to the store, she undermined her employees and called a customer a liar. Beware of Mountain Sports. read more
