I have had the worst experience with this company. The buying process was great and fast but then noticing that they do that to get you into a junk vehicle is a nightmare. Not but three days after buying my 2020 malibu I noticed issues with the transmission and then the car wouldn't go into park nor shut off. The months following I asked them to look at it multiple times. They simply said, " newer cars run that way". Months later, I was almost hit because the delay in shifting that could have cost mine and my children's lives. I went into the service center with a list of things I wanted to start fixing, then the transmission was bad as soon as he pulled it out of the parking spot. I could go on with the amount of issues I have had with the vehicles and the service at Mountaintop. Two transmissions, 3 brains, 1 engineer from Chevrolet and a year in the shop.... my car is still in their possession. I now have to go in to "trade in" a car with the company that I really could care less to deal with. My car has been in the shop nearly 3/4 of the time I have been making payments and paying insurance on. I would say the warrantee was a good idea because it has saved me from the monetary side. Son's vehicle did not pass the state safety inspection for ball joints, even though that was part of the checklist AND after 3500 miles transmissions is bad - even though the checklist said the transmission fluid condition was good. We tried multiple times to work with them before resorting to bad reviews and legal action to resolve the issue but all they said is that you bought it as is and didn't buy the extended warranty then stopped responding. BE AWARE!!!!!! This company took 14,000 out of my pocket. Sold me a 08 Tahoe hybrid knowing that the vehicle was not safe. This vehicle would stall out at lights, sometimes the power would just shut down, it's been to three different dealerships including a GMC and Chevrolet and no one can seem to figure out what is going on. I have yet to drive the car due to it stalling out and giving me such anxiety for the first month. I've tried to contact this company and explain that the salesman Casey sold me a hunk of junk. Casey knew my situation that I was in a car accident the month prior and needed a vehicle due to having a disabled child who had appointments to go to constantly. I strongly advise avoiding this dealership - our vehicle purchase on 2/14/25 has been a nightmare from day 1. - Nearly TWO full months after purchasing this vehicle, Mountaintop Motors has still not provided me with the title, which is fully illegal under the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act. Initial phone calls to the dealership on this issue resulted in being told that Mountaintop never received the title from Carmax and they could not provide me with an ETA on resolution. Again, Mountaintop selling a vehicle before they possessed the title reflecting Mountaintop as the vehicle owner is fraudulent and is in fact a felony in multiple states. Repeated phone calls requesting to speak to the General Manager were not returned, the receptionist even tried to state that she could not put me on hold to wait for the GM to be available because the "phone systems wouldn't let a call be placed on hold." After finally connecting with the GM, his response to me was claiming that this happens all the time and that the state of Missouri is at fault for not sending them the title. This issue has yet to be resolved, and as a result I am forced to take legal action in order to simply title my vehicle. -Three warning lights (traction control, ABS, and check engine) came on less 30 minutes after driving off the lot. Nearly two months later, I have yet to be reimbursed for the cost of fixing the issue as was promised. Reading through reviews on Better Business Bureau, autodealers.com, etc, it's clear that many buyers have had issues with the vehicles purchased from Mountaintop Motors. I strongly suspect that they are not inspecting the vehicles as claimed. The issue for my vehicle was ultimately a simple fix that would have been identified in a standard inspection. -The $500 deposit for holding the vehicle was not applied to the purchase price of the vehicle as I was told. It took well over a month of repeated followups with salesman Brandon before the deposit was credited back. Simply ridiculous. This dealership promotes attractive prices and a "no haggle" approach, but they are wildly incompetent and clearly inept at following basic regulations as it relates to selling vehicles. read more

DO NOT BUY HERE!! READ MY TESTIMONY AND SEE WHAT YOUR FUTURE WILL BE!! They will sell you a junk car and ghost you when you have a problem. Bought my 2010 GMC Yukon XL in June of 2024. Bought it with 167k miles on it. I knew that part of buying a car with that many miles was that things will go out and that will be on me to repair, I have no problem with that. I felt comfortable with their 102 point inspection in which it passed with flying colors and decided to bring it home. After only a month of ownership, I went to get a safety inspection done (that they "forgot" to do, and said they were going to mail me a check to reimburse me, still waiting on that check 6 months later) and the ball joints were so bad that the guy told me that they were not checked at Mountain Top Motors. I called Mountain Top and they agreed to replace the ball joints, but I had to do a total of 2 hours of driving to take it there and back with no reimbursement for their "mistake." By this time i was suspicious though. If they missed the ball joints, what else did they miss? 3 months later and only 3500 miles, the transmission starts shifting weird. I take it to a nearby GMC dealership and they took a sample of transmission fluid and the certified technician said the fluid was "extremely burnt and full of metal." I asked him if that damage can happen in 3500 miles and he said absolutely not. So I went back to the inspection paperwork from Mountain Top and "transmission fluid level and condition" was a pass. Look at that, another "mistake", no reason why it shouldn't be handled just like the ball joints, they make a mistake, they make it right. Nope, called them and they said "well you test drove it right? well there's nothing we can do then" I then drafted and sent an email to the owner, Jon Lang. I received a response from the general manager, Kyle Wohlschaeger, saying the same thing as before, "well you test drove it." After reaching out to a lawyer and explaining the circumstances, he advised that we do have a case against Mountain Top but suggested we give them one last opportunity to make things right and told us to send a more formal letter via certified mail. This letter was received and signed for at Mountain Top on 11/27/24. I gave them a couple of weeks to respond and an email was sent to try to get a response. Both the letter and the email had been received and ignored. I filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General's Office and they have reached out to Mountain Top and are yet to hear back. I'm tired of messing around, see ya in court. Mountain Top states on their website, "even if you are choosing an older 90's model 4x4 you can be rest assured that it's in great shape. Mountain Top stands behind their sales as well, if there is an issue after the sale Mountain Top will work with the customer. Not leave them high and dry." Well, Mountain Top, the ball is in your court, work with your customers. Brandon Menke was my salesman. He was alright. Had to call and text him a million times because he would stop responding. When I went to pick up my car I texted him hours before and told him what time I was coming and he said that he'd be there, when I showed up they had taken a dealership car to go get McDonalds and had to sit in the lobby for at least 20 minutes. AVOID!!!!! The buying process was great however everything after that has been horrible. Had them put a lift on and fix the ABS light that was on before actually taking the vehicle. Went to go look at a SUV and was suprised on how the employee's do not help you out. You would think they would try to help sell the SUV to you and to top it off there was an issue with the SUV I was looking at and wanted to get updates on that car to see what it was and if it was going to be worked on and they never called me when they said they were going too. Took my truck in for a safety inspection and the said my front end parts were worn out. Also my windshield was glazed and all that needed to be replaced. Took it to another shop and they said there was nothing wrong with any of my suspension parts. Windshield was glazed but not bad enough to not pass. The only thing needed was the break lite on the camper shell needed to be workin. Do I got it working and took it back within on hour and they passed it in only a few minutes and I was on my way home with a passed inspection cert. I mountain Top just wanted to make money off of me. I do all my own work on my truck but not certified to do inspections. So dont go there they will try to rip you off. read more

I didn't have high hopes after the day we had but walking into Mountain Top Motors was a completely different experience. They had exactly the truck we were looking for at a fair price and they were honest and straight forward. Warning!!! Don't be fooled. 30 day warranty was BS. Management won't call you back with issues. They didn't send off my license info to illinois and lied about it then over night shipped the info to the DMV. The Shelby I purchased with them was shifting rough when I test drove it. Said the car has been sitting and it has a 30 day warranty. Took it back to them as it was getting worse, rear shocks were bad too and they didn't touch a thing for two weeks. I had to reach back out to them to see what was going on. I picked up my car with 40 miles added to it and nothing done. I got the shocks changed out and transmission fluid and now she's good. But their warrant is complete bs and they are irresponsible and very bad at communicating. So I had a couple issues with the truck I had purchased in July. Both issues were recall issues but it took them 4 months to get it fixed. When I bought this truck it pulled to the left pretty good I told them about it when they came to pick it up the day after I bought it. That was when the tipm went out. The transmission went out after from a bad part they had installed so not really their fault. When I finally got the truck back in November (4 months after purchasing it) the truck still pulled to the left. When I told them about it they told me the warranty was expired. So I tried to get the front end alignment done and was told that the ball joints were bad so I couldn't get it done. Now after I got the ball joints done and tried to get the alignment now the bolts to the lower a-arms is bad and was told I'm going to have to replace them. It was almost $800 to get the ball joints done and now their telling me it might be another $1000 to fix something that was told about when I bought the damn truck. They did give me a loaner vehicle when mine was in the shop. Even though it had transmission issues it worked. Now let me just say that Brandon was an outstanding salesman and all the issues are with their shop and their bs warranty. I've bought 2 trucks from them and the first was a pretty good one but this second one is costing me more than I can afford because they lied and didn't care. Beware of this company. Bought a truck last month. Given the sales pitch it went through 102 point inspection. Guess they looked at 102 spots on the exterior because the fuel filter was from 2017 and black, air filter was dirty. Windshield wipers needed replaced. Truck should not have passed inspection. Company never disclosed doc fee and I only found out when I asked before putting down a non-refundable deposit. Finally got the title and app the day before my temp tag was up. Couldn't get plates on time and now have to pay an additional dmv fee. I should have known they were horrible when they try to buy a good review with a gift card. Do not buy from them! read more

Bought a Chevy Avalanche from Mountain top. Within 90 days the transmission went out. Mountain Top did not return my calls. Took truck to a mechanic who said the tranny fluid had been leaking for a very long time, the transmission was shot, and the transfer case was going out. I purchased from a dealer as opposed to a private person thinking a dealer would stand behind what they sold. Lesson learned. Try to support local and get burned. I have never been so impressed with a car dealership as I am with Mountain Top Motors. I typically don't leave reviews online, but the level of service, professionalism, and overall excellent job that the folks at MTM provided to me warranted a positive review. In short, I bought a used F250 in October, I flew in from Texas to pick it up, they came and picked me up from the airport, and made the overall buying experience very pleasant. The vehicle looked to be in great shape and overall I was quite pleased. But it's what happened afterward that make MTM so impressive. I drove the vehicle back to Texas and discovered a rattle in the engine that was quite pronounced. It turned out that the engine had an issue that with one of the mounts (which are molded/formed as a part of the engine block). MTM worked with my local mechanic, ordered a replacement engine block (fully paid for the block), as well as fully paid for all of the repair/labor that it took to replace it. That was over $6000, of which MTM completely paid for at no cost to me!!!! Customer Service at its finest!!!! The truck runs and sounds great! I highly recommend MTM for your next vehicle.
