Mountain Tree Care came to our property in November to discuss working on several old and unhealthy trees in our yard. When I called to follow up two weeks ago to have the work done, I was told to expect a visit over the following two weekends "to create a more specific work order." When I received no confirmation phone call or visit, I called to inquire about getting the work done. Today I received a text message saying "we do not think pruning old apple trees is an effective use of our time." Is that not the definition of "tree care"? We had accepted the idea of cutting them down (based on the recommendation of MTC). After 6 months of preparation, we are back where we started looking for professional help to get the trees in our yard either healthy or removed. I've used MTC for the past several years. Dwight has saved my hemlocks, using environmentally safe treatments. Likewise, for an ash on the property. I can appreciate what others say about his gruffness, but it bothers me not. We're both frank, to the point and the communication works, respectfully. read more

I can ditto the other review regarding the service of Mountain Tree. I ve been a longstanding customer, getting tree care for two old hemlocks, on a yearly basis. Yet when I needed emergency help with a downed tree limb on my roof, they simply refused to come. They were too busy they said and days later called me (on the wrong number) to give me a referral. When the referred-to company told me they were too busy, Mountain tree still refused to come. At this point the ceiling of our porch has been pierced through with the tree limb. It will require hundreds if not thousands of dollars of repair, if rains don't now ruin all the furniture and flooring below. I wouldn't recommend this company, which doesn't value its customers. read more

I echo earlier reviews publicized on Yelp and do not recommend using this Tree Service. We are new to the area my Husbands coworker recommended Mountain Tree Care. My husband hired them after our Maple tree was hit with storm damage : a Father and son team arrived with one other helper. The Father and son engaged in verbal slander towards one another and engaged in exchaging offensive and demeaning language towards one another in the presence of my two young children. My then 3 year old son was excited to see the big trucks and work being done, sadly I had to take him inside so not to hear the very uncomfortable and abusive language used. The Father then left the adult son and additional worker to complete the task. No safety helmet was worn and trucks appeared to be outdated and in need of service. One positive was the receptionist who spoke in a calm voice and provided me with all necessary information regarding date, arrival time and payments required. I would give Mountain Tree Care a negative rating, I would. After calling several times and leaving messages, the Owner's wife and Bookkeeper finally returned my call inquiring about having an estimate done to take down a couple trees and preserve others on our upstate Estates Property. The wife had no knowledge of pricing or availability and had to speak over crying babies in the background to ask her husband for the answer's to my questions, she might as well have handed the phone over to him so I could speak directly. After the Owner had to reschedule 3 times (inconvenience since we live in NYC and the trees our on our estate upstate), he finally gave us an estimate and set a date for 2 weeks later, after having to reschedule 2 times due to staffing issues, workers finally arrived. Removal of the trees took twice as long as expected due to the workers need to take a break every 45 minutes or so. One worker who claimed to be the Owner of the Company acted simply as the ground man, carrying branches to the chipper, he lacked basic communication skills- never making eye contact with me, he had absolutely no knowledge of Trees or Tree Care and relied on having to ask the Climber for answers. Incompetent Owners and Crew (expect Climber), AVOID this company and save yourself the hassle. read more

Very skilled knowledgeable/expert and competent workers with really supportive professional team workmanship; effective scheduling and expert execution of dangerous work. Dwight Bayne was disrespectful of my property - leaving the gate open when asked repeatedly to make sure it was closed to protect the landscaping. He rushed through tasks in a careless manner. And, although I was a regular customer for many years, I received no priority on when I needed to have anything done. He often told me that he had too much work and would get to me whenever he had time. I found him unpleasant and difficult to work with and his prices were equal to - and often more expensive - than some others. . read more

I used them to cut down several trees after a bad storm had damaged them. They do good work at fair prices, come on time and work fast. The owner is very nice and knows a great deal about trees and tree care. He is honest about the condition of trees and if you really need to have them cut down or not. read more
